The first shows the border fence between the two cities with the same name; this is near the US Customs and Border Station is located out of frame toward the right. The second image shows a store very close to the border, and the third is of the Santa Cruz County Courthouse that was built in 1904.

Some migrants along the U.S-Mexico border in the Agape Mundial Tijuana shelter have gotten appointments through the new CBP One App that was introduced yesterday by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for those wishing to apply for asylum to the United States on Friday, January 13, 2023. Only six were able to obtain a lottery number and official appointment for their asylum claims, while others got put in the system and given a number but without a set appointment as of yet—though once registered in the app, applicants will be contacted via email for their exact date once an appointment is available to them. — The CBP One App has now become oversaturated by the amount of migrants applying, there will not be any appointments assigned for the rest of January and February. — 600 migrants use to be at the Agape shelter now only 80 migrants remain since the app was introduced, in addition to some of the migrants who were given beforehand humanitarian parole, an exception to the Title 42 policy, due to some migrants dire circumstances who seek asylum through different associations and immigration advocacy groups who add migrants on lists for consideration of passage to the U.S. Now with the App migrants can apply by themselves using their phone and be added to the system, at least that is the plan or idea to make the process run faster, smoother and orderly by the Biden Administration. U.S. Congressman Juan Vargas joined with other local community members, civic and elected leaders in demanding the immediate end to construction of two 30-foot-tall walls that will replace current fencing at the Friendship Park area diving Tijuana and San Diego on Friday, March 17, 2023. — There are currently two layers of 18-foot border barrier that enclose Friendship Park, with Border Patrol controlling the gates to the historic meeting place for families who can’t cross to see each other. Those gates have been closed for several years. The new construction plans, initiated by the Trump administration and continued under President Joe Biden, did not originally include gates. But activism spurred by the collective Friends of Friendship Park last summer caused Customs and Border Protection to pause the project for stakeholder meetings over the design. Since construction restarted, Friends of Friendship Park has continued to call out the administration, saying that the modifications are not enough to preserve the essence and intended message of the park.
