Les choses visibles sont pour un temps, mais les invisibles sont éternelles. Ne sont-ils pas nombreux ceux qui oublient cela? La convoitise des richesses n’a-t-elle pas gagné le cœur de plusieurs qui, par amour pour le siècle présent, abandonnent la foi et la perspective de la félicité éternelle? Bien sûr, il est plus simple de se fier aux choses que l’on voit puisqu’elles sont physiques et donc palpables. Pourtant, tout bien réfléchi, ce ne sont que des vanités. La Parole nous l’assure, le monde passe avec sa convoitise. À quoi bon posséder de belles maisons, de belles voitures, montres, ou tout autre bien, si finalement il faut perdre son âme? Cette question ne mérite-t-elle pas que l’on y réfléchisse avec le plus grand sérieux?

Sans doute, nous serions sages de toujours nous souvenir que nous repartirons de cette terre comme si nous y avons été introduits, nus. Assurément, ce qui a une réelle importance, ce qui nous rend réellement riches est de connaître le Seigneur Jésus.
