PART 2 - Let's Play Some $#!7!: Dex
Sunday, March 9, 2025
Come join me for another installment of Let’s Play Some $#!7! | LPS$, where I play games to provide commentary to educate on game development to prevent another stressful Cyberpunk 2077 launch scenario! Provided I don't get too caught up in the game to comment, which, in a sense, is commentary in and of itself. Today, we began a new playthrough of Dex! The game was first introduced to The Weekend Game Show | WGS via Let's Play Some Demos! - Part 7! Check out Part 1 here! Something I should have mentioned in the last part, that I didn't know about because I wasn't paying attention, Dex is rated M, for Mature 17+, by the ESRB for Violence, Blood, Sexual Content, Drug References, and Strong Language. Also, with the Amazon Blackout going on, I streamed it to Discord instead of Twitch while recording a video for YouTube! I'll be doing that next week, too. I don't plan to monetize Twitch, so this is a movement I can join.
With all that out the way, here are my opinions, via the "Layered Compliment Sandwich":
Shit was getting INTERESTING! Both the side quests I completed and the bit of the main quest I got through. Eventually. I SUCKED at the game, and, ya know what, I ACTUALLY didn't have a problem with that. I kept getting fucked by having no money. And I didn't have money because I kept having to buy more healing items. What turned that around a bit was when I found a strange chemical that could be converted into a healing item. YES! MONEY SAVER!
Now, the very first side quest I started doing was inside a, I'm guessing, brothel. We were getting someone's brother out of there and it turned out to be a good thing. I fucked up the first time, so I reloaded. No, I don't regret it. I mentioned this in the mini-review for Part 1, the developers did a great job with the character development to the point where I'm invested in the characters after very few interactions. I WANTED to get the guy out of the brothel. And I DID! I was actually proud! To find that WASN'T the end of the quest! And I wasn't even mad. I should have seen it coming, given how the man was acting during the initial conversation to get him to leave the brothel. And I was INVESTED! I was also invested in another quest to find cumin seeds for a kebab maker and... either it glitched, because I couldn't find it in the warehouse, or I already did it and didn't remember. I need to remember to watch Part 1 to see... There's always the possibility I can find cumin seeds in multiple locations to give them. The best part was when I remembered I could roll past enemies and, ya know, run. I didn't need to kill everybody. Which came in handy when I had to run through the slums to continue the main quest. After I accidentally progressed the main quest by being curious and a thief. THAT was convenient! I didn't even realize I needed to be there! Non-linear gameplay indeed! I can see why the reviews are mostly positive! I'm looking forward to next week, when I play some more!
And that's it for this mini-review! Thank you for reading! If this series of videos is something you're interested in, it's available on YouTube, The Titans' Discord, Steam, Rumble, Odysee, Ko-fi, and on multiple blogging platforms! And on Twitch while the VODs last. Don't forget to hit the Subscribe and/or Follow buttons to know when there's more!

Vape News In Brief: December 18th, 2017 Edition
Vape News In Brief: December 18th, 2017 Edition     VNIB is a semi-regular column in which we take a look around the globe, searching for news, science, and the occasional pop culture reference related to vaping and the life of vapers. Today, let's talk about…     …a new study out of Georgia State University that finds, wait for it, people who are more likely to trust authoritarian governments are less likely to believe vapor products are substantially less harmful than tobacco (this is a true statement). The study's author suggests that more research is needed in order to find a way to reach people who mistrust "authority voices" like the FDA and convince them to adopt the (untrue) narrative that e-cigarettes are as bad or worse than tobacco.   More from Georgia State - another report from the university suggests that restrictive vaping laws may increase the prevalence of smoking in pregnant women by as much as 30 percent. During pregnancy, many women are already highly motivated to quit smoking, but laws that draw no distinction between vaping and smoking may be a deterrent. We should note here that nicotine, regardless of whether it's derived from tobacco or not, is harmful to fetal development and that vaping nicotine e-liquids during a pregnancy is still not advised.   This will sting - a new bill under consideration in Canada's Ontario province would ban brick-and-mortar vape shops from displaying their products and from teaching customers how to use them. Even giving advice on a Facebook page would henceforth be verboten. Local retailers are (rightfully) saying that such a ban would make it essentially impossible to help people quit smoking by vaping, as every beginner needs at least a bit of guidance in choosing and maintaining a setup.     Cashing in – the *National Law Review* reports having found at least 150 private lawsuits against vapor companies operating in California for failing to abide by that state's Proposition 65 law, which requires many products sold in the state to advertise that they may contain chemicals known to cause cancer or reproductive harm, like nicotine. So far, nearly 100 cases have settled out of court, netting lawyers and their plaintiffs roughly $3.9 million in settlement loot.           In yet another sign that the tides are turning in favor of widespread acceptance of vaping as a legitimate harm reduction tool, the New York Times Health page has even come out with a lukewarm endorsement of the practice.     A doctor in Ottawa, Canada, has received a $100,000 grant to study whether vaping can be an effective tool in helping the region's homeless population quit smoking. In a country that's been generally even more hostile to vaping than the US, that's quite an accomplishment and needed; while only nine percent of Ottawans as a whole smoke, that number jumps to 96 percent for inner-city homeless drug users. Add this piece to the list of pro-vaping screeds aimed at a concise population – in this case, like the *Times* article cited above, the target is "old people." Key wisdom nugget: "One of the main reasons why vaping is considered so much safer than smoking is because it lacks the carcinogenic chemicals that are added to cigarettes." Mind. Blown.   The continued expansion of vaping is driving other industries, too – according to this release, lithium battery sales may be headed for an uptick in growth as much as 36 percent thanks to vaping. Given the widespread use of these cells in everything from flashlights to laptop battery packs to power tools, that's saying something. We'll leave it there for now, but check back soon – news will undoubtedly keep breaking, and we'll be back to fix it. https://breazy.com/blogs/updates/vape-news-in-brief-december-18th-2017-edition?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=tumblr #vape #vaping #breazy

Vape News In Brief: December 12th, 2017 Edition
Vape News In Brief: December 12th, 2017 Edition     *VNIB* is a semi-regular column in which we take a look around the globe, searching for news, science, and the occasional pop culture reference related to vaping and the life of vapers. Today, let's talk about…   …continuing signs of the End Times for Big Tobacco, as Nasdaq analysts are boosting their estimates on Altria (the American parent of Philip Morris) based on the company's pivot toward vapor as traditional cigarette smoking rates continue to hit all-time lows. Just over 15% of Americans today smoke, while three percent vape regularly – and the demographics continue to shift. Not quite sure how to take this one – apparently the issue of teen smoking is pretty much solved in this wealthy Northeastern community. But parents shouldn't breathe any easier, because the new scourge, Juul vapes (cigalikes are the latest in a long-running list of bogeymen favored by the media), are gaining popularity. The piece ends with an acknowledgment that vaping is likely much safer than smoking, but no mention is given of the fact that vapor products, as well as tobacco, remain illegal for minors to possess or purchase.   On the celebrity worship side of the media, this counts as news: Larry King uses vape, coughs. The e-liquid that piqued his interest was cucumber-flavored JUUL, allegedly. Science? According to this survey conducted online by a British vaping vendor, workers who take frequent breaks (defined as a short work stoppage every 2 hours or less) believe they're bringing more energy, problem-solving ability, and overall productivity to their jobs. Unsurprisingly, bosses say they prefer workers who work instead of taking frequent smoke/vape breaks. Surprisingly, nearly one in ten 25-34 year-olds say they take two or more breaks per hour – when is actual work getting done, then? Sad: without citing any scientific data and while drawing tenuous links to largely-debunked science, a high-ranking Jamaican health official is apparently urging smokers to avoid using vapor products as part of their quit attempt.   Bad news for the "vaping congressman" – Duncan D. Hunter, the House member famous for vaping during an open session, is being accused of ethics violations for getting "too close" to the vaping industry. The odd thing here is that while Hunter has received nearly $40,000 in campaign contributions from various vapor-related entities, there's no sign he's personally profiting from his efforts to loosen vaping laws. He has, however, been caught dipping into campaign funds for personal expenses like buying airline tickets for his pet rabbit.     There's been a push for years to ban television advertising for vapor products. While such advertising is generally too costly for most vape suppliers to undertake anyway, several of the big cigalike companies, especially those backed by Big Tobacco, have still gotten their wares onto the airwaves, much to the consternation of anti-tobacco advocates who fear vaping could "re-normalize" smoking. But, according to the first actual study we've seen on the subject, e-cigarette advertising actually corresponds with a decline in tobacco sales. We'll leave you with something silly: apparently someone felt the need to (poorly) photoshop vapes into various Harry Potter scenes. Have a good one until next time, folks! https://breazy.com/blogs/updates/vape-news-in-brief-december-12th-2017-edition?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=tumblr #vape #vaping #breazy

The honorable anonymous coward behind this semi-regular mashup of everything that's worth knowing (and several things that questionably aren't) about the goings-on in the world of vape is once again presiding. This week, we bring you:   An (increasingly rare) positive story about cigalike sensation JUUL. Though the target of heavy criticism for their popularity among youth, stealth design, and ridiculously high nicotine content, the device remains mainstream vaping's breakaway hit – so popular the company is intentionally limiting distribution of new devices as its supply chain struggles to keep up with demand.   Misleading scientific claims are keeping people smoking who'd otherwise quit, says Marewa Glover, an associate professor of public health at Massey University in New Zealand. She and her cohorts are believers in the British claim that vaping is 95% safer than smoking, and long for the same reduction in tobacco use Britain is currently enjoying. Glover goes so far as to encourage the government to pony up for vouchers to provide free starter kits for low-income smokers willing to quit.   Next door in Australia, where vaping with nicotine remains illegal, there's been a bit of a dust-up between some Australian researchers working to discredit vaping and Public Health England, the governmental body who first made the "95% safer" claim. PHE is demanding what it says are false claims be retracted, the trio of researchers have called the health body "pathetic" and said more studies verifying the evidence gathered from existing studies are necessary before any of the growing body of data on vaping harm reduction can be believed.     The American Medical Association is warning that youth who use high levels of nicotine in e-cigarettes are more likely to smoke later. Take this with a grain of salt, because a) the AMA has been adamantly anti-vapor for years and b) youth getting access to vapor products should be viewed as a law enforcement problem, unless all tobacco products, alcohol, and other adult-oriented objects (including cars, which are age-restricted) are also viewed as items that should be banned to "save the children."     Even the Washington Post is shaking its head at this news: Indonesia, the world's fourth most-populated country and one where the smoking rate is far higher than the worldwide average, is set to implement heavy restrictions on vaping while the tobacco industry operates with virtual impunity. The country's trade minister suggests vapers just "become regular smokers" instead of trying to quit if they don't like the law. Let's leave this one on a high note – we'll be back again soon, all the best until the next go-round, folks! https://breazy.com/blogs/updates/vape-news-in-brief-december-4th-2017-edition?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=tumblr #vape #vaping #breazy
