Phonetic composition for Wanikani
Remember how I mentioned the book "The Kanji Code" in my lengthy article about on'yomi ("Chinese") readings of kanji?
Turns out the benefits of the book can be had for Wanikani users through the magic of "userscript."
Tumblr media
What's the benefit
So, phonetic composition is how a great many of the kanji you're (supposedly) trying to learn are made. These particular kanji are called 形声 or "keisei" - "form-voice" kanji.
For the "form," they contain a part (often referred to as "radical") that gives you the meaning/semantic category of the kanji, like what the concept is mentally filed under.
For the "voice," they contain another part that hints you at how they are pronounced. It is commonly believed that kanji are only pictorials linked to concepts, but for keisei kanji this is not the case. A big part may not pertain to the meaning at all. Spotting the "voice" part can help you recall the on'yomi sounds of kanji much easier and systematically.
Tumblr media
Yes, this is specifically for the "Chinese" readings. The Japanese readings are words from a language that had nothing to do with the formation of the original hanzi script, after all.
(Examples are in the original article.)
How it works
Websites are rendered by your browser, but how your browser does this can be extended and changed by scripts that rely on the Javascript language. Nowadays browsers like Chrome or Firefox allow you to install "extensions" that do various jobs for you - blocking ads, returning the ability to copy/paste to pages that block it, etc.
Wanikani, the kanji-learning website, incorporated early on support for so-called userscripts, both a blessing and a curse. Curse because whenever they want to change something on the website, a very vocal userscript culture will complain about breaking their stuff. Blessing because it allows you to extend what WK can do.
Tumblr media
How it's done
You can basically follow the guide here, but I must admit I failed to do so because I think something's missing.
What you do is this:
Install Tampermonkey (guide) - this is the basic engine.
Install WK Open Framework (guide) - this is Wanikani's own script support.
Install Keisei support (guide)
Now, if this worked, you should see something like this on various pages - for kanji readings and radicals:
Tumblr media
This will tell you if a phonetic component is present in your kanji or if it is itself present in another kanji as a phonetic component. The readings printed in bold are readings still used for that kanji, others listed are merely present in phonetic components but not in the original kanji. Because history.
It also shows you cases where the link is weakened because the pronunciation changed - in the example you see this marked in red. Basically there is a grading system (so far I've seen "heaven", "above", "middle", and "below").
A Caveat
There's only one caveat. Tampermonkey is very powerful. You need to trust the scripts you install, because it could potentially alter what you see on websites or enter/submit stuff for you.
On Chrome there is a good solution for this. When you click on the "Extensions" icon in the top right, you can select "This can read and change site data" from the three dots behind Tampermonkey.
I recommend doing it like this:
Select "On all Sites" during the installing of the WK Open Framework and the "Keisei" support script. (Else the install links have a habit of not working on Chrome.)
Then change it back to "When you click the extension".
Now go back to a tab with Wanikani open. Go back to "Extensions -> This can read and change site data" and select "On wanikani.com".
Congrats! Now Tampermonkey is only enabled on Wanikani by default.
Alternatively, use it in a separate browser. I haven't found an easy way to restrict permissions on Firefox, for example. But if you use it in a separate browser that you only use for Wanikani, you should be good.

[Wk 4 & 5]
Using what I learned in week four I started to apply the analysis framework to evaluate the various exhibitions and their points of interest.
One of the exhibitions that stood out the most to me was 'Wings of a Rich Manoeuvre'.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The artist envisions her creation as an evolving experience, inviting viewers to delve into its intricate layers and invest repetitive periods of time with it, aiming to spark interest in the passage of time.
The second exhibition that caught my eye was the 'Story of the Forest'.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Transitioning from visually appealing exhibitions, the third exhibition deepened my comprehension of my connection with plastic and offered fresh perspectives on envisioning a sustainable future with it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This exhibition was an eye-opener, revealing the large amount of plastic waste generated in our daily lives. Although it might not be one of the most aesthetically beautiful exhibitions or an exhibition with a lot of historical background and depth. It was one of the most meaningful and well-made exhibition that taught me about plastic consumption and how to reduce its wastage, making it one of the most impactful experiences in the museum.
The fourth point of interest is rattan baskets in the Singapore History Gallery.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The fifth point of interest is Javanese-style gold jewellery. where it was discovered at Bukit Larangan (Fort Canning Hill).
Tumblr media
This particular artefact suggests that there could have been a kingdom of Singapura back in the days as part of the Malay Archipelago which is really interesting as it allows the public to think about how Singapore came to be founded.
This field trip gave me a deeper understanding of Singapore's history and the cultural significance of the artefacts on display. Moreover, witnessing the collaboration between Singapore and international artists showcased the innovative use of technology to enhance the museum experience for visitors worldwide. Lastly, while the exhibitions may appear simplistic at first glance, delving deeper reveals a wealth of knowledge waiting to be explored and appreciated.

Primary Dns Server Address
Tumblr media
Scroll up the information in the window to the 'DNS Servers' item on the left side. To the right you will see your computer's primary DNS server address as well as its secondary one (if your.
Optimum DNS Servers. Primary DNS: 167.206.112.138. Secondary DNS: 167.206.7.4.
According to this link and the Windows Server 2008 R2 Best Practices Analyzer, the loopback address should be in the list, but never as the primary DNS server. In certain situations like a topology change, this could break replication and cause a server to be 'on an island' as far as replication is concerned.
Primary And Secondary Dns Server Address
What Is My Dns Server
You may see a DNS server referred to by other names, such as a name server or nameserver, and a domain name system server. The Purpose of DNS Servers It's easier to remember a domain or hostname like lifewire.com than it is to remember the site's IP address numbers 151.101.2.114.
Nslookup (name server lookup) is a command-line tool that is used to diagnose and validate DNS servers and records, and to find name resolution problems in the DNS subsystem. The nslookup tool was originally developed as a part of the BIND package and ported to Windows by Microsoft. Nslookup is currently a built-in tool in all supported versions of Windows.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
How to Use Nslookup to Check DNS Records?
Using the nslookup utility, you can determine the IP address of any server by its DNS name, perform the reverse DNS lookup, and get information about the various DNS records for a specific domain name.
When running, Nslookup sends queries to the DNS server that is specified in your network connection settings. This address is considered the default (preferred) DNS server. My phone ip. The user can specify the address of any other available DNS server. As a result, all subsequent DNS requests will be sent to it.
You can view or change your preferred and alternative DNS server IP addresses in the network connection properties.
Or you can get your DNS server setting from the CLI prompt using the ipconfig command:
You can use the nslookup tool in interactive or non-interactive mode.
To run a DNS query using nslookup tool in non-interactive mode, open a Command prompt, and run the command:
In this example, we requested the IP address of theitbros.com domain. The nslookup utility queries the DNS server (it is specified in the Server line) and it returned that this name matches the IP address 37.1.214.145 (A and AAAA records are shown by default).
This response indicates that your DNS server is available, works properly, and processes requests for resolving DNS names.
If you received such an answer:
Server: dns1.contoso.com
Address: хх.хх.хх.хх
*** dns1.contoso.com can’t find theitbros.com: Non-existent domain
This means that no entries were found for this domain name on the DNS server.
If your DNS server is unavailable or not responding, you will receive a DNS request timed out error.
In this case, check if you have specified the correct DNS server address and whether there is a problem with the network connection from the IS provider.
Plugin de autotune para fl studio 20. GSnap – (Windows) GSnap gives you the ability to control the notes that it snaps to through MIDI. Antares Auto-Tune Pro (Paid) Auto-Tune is the original pitch correction software. It’s so popular that. It includes Auto Mode, for real-time correction and effects, Graph Mode, for detailed pitch and time editing, and the Auto-Key plug.

The Non-authoritative answer means that the DNS server that executed the request is not the owner of the theitbros.com zone (there are no records about this domain in its database) and to perform name resolution a recursive query to another DNS server was used.
You can enable and disable the recursive nslookup mode using the commands (by default, recursive DNS queries are enabled):
You can access an authoritative DNS server by specifying its address directly in the parameters of the nslookup utility. For example, to resolve a name on the authoritative DNS server (that contains this domain) use the command:
When you run nslookup without parameters, the utility switches to the interactive mode. In this mode, you can execute various commands. A complete list of available internal commands of the nslookup utility can be displayed by typing a question.
Tumblr media
Tip. Note that nslookup commands are case sensitive.
To close the interactive nslookup session, type exit and press Enter.
To find the DNS servers that are responsible for a specific domain (Name Server authoritative servers), run the following commands:
You can perform reverse lookups (get DNS name by IP address). Just type the IP address in the nslookup interactive prompt and press Enter.
Using Nslookup to Get Different DNS Record Types
The default nslookup resource records type is A and AAAA, but you can use different types of resource records:
A
ANY
CNAME
GID
HINFO:
MB
MG
MINF
MR
MX
NS
PTR
SOA
TXT
UID
UINFO
WKS
You can set specific record types to lookup using the nslookup parameter:
For example, to list all mail servers configured for a specific domain (MX, Mail eXchange records), run the command:
Non-authoritative answer:
theitbros.com MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = mail.theitbros.com
theitbros.com MX preference = 20, mail exchanger = mail.theitbros.com
mail.theitbros.com internet address = 37.1.214.145
mail.theitbros.com internet address = 37.1.214.145
As you can see, this domain has 2 MX records with priorities 10 and 20 (the lower the number, the higher the priority of the MX address). If you don’t see MX records, they probably just aren’t configured for that domain.

To list all DNS records in the domain zone, run the command:
Non-authoritative answer:
theitbros.com internet address = 37.1.214.145

theitbros.com nameserver = ns2.theitbros.com
theitbros.com nameserver = ns1.theitbros.com

mail.theitbros.com internet address = 37.1.214.145
mail.theitbros.com internet address = 37.1.214.145
To get the SOA record (Start of Authority – start DNS zone record, which contains information about the domain zone, its administrator’s address, serial number, etc.), use the option -type=soa:

expire = 604800 (7 days)
default TTL = 3601 (1 hour 1 sec)
pdns1.registrar-servers.com internet address = 156.154.130.200
pdns1.registrar-servers.com AAAA IPv6 address = 2610:a1:1022::200
primary name server;
responsible mail addr — domain administrator email address ([email protected]). Since the @ symbol in the zone description has its own meaning, it is replaced by a dot in this field);
serial — the serial number of the zone file, used to record changes. The following format is usually used: YYYYMMDDHH;
refresh — the period of time (in seconds) after which the secondary DNS server will send a request to the primary one to check if the serial number has changed;
retry — specifies the interval for reconnecting to the primary DNS server if for some reason it was unable to respond to the request;
expire — specifies how long the DNS cache is kept by the secondary DNS server, after which it will be considered expired;
default TTL — “Time to Live” seconds. Refers to how long your DNS settings must be cached before they are automatically refreshed.
If you want to list the TXT records of a domain (for example, when viewing SPF settings), run the command:
The debug option allows you to get additional information contained in the headers of client DNS requests and server responses (lifetime, flags, record types, etc.):
You can view the current values for all specified nslookup options with the command:

By default, DNS servers listen on UDP port 53, but you can specify a different port number if necessary using the -port option:
or interactively:
You can change the interval to wait for a response from the DNS server. This is usually necessary on slow or unstable network links. By default, if no response comes within 5 seconds, the request is repeated, increasing the waiting time by two times. But you can manually set this value in seconds using the -timeout option:
So, in this article, we covered the basics of working with the nslookup command on Windows.
If the directory is removed from IIS, but remains in AD, you must first remove the directory from AD using the Remove-XXXVirtualDirectory cmdlet (where XXX is the name of the directory: ECP, OWA, etc.).
If the directory is still in IIS but is not present in the Active Directory configuration, you must remove it from the IIS configuration. To do this, we need the Metabase Explorer tool from the IIS 6 Resource Kit (requires Net Framework 3.5 Feature).
Launch IIS Metabase Explorer, go to Exchange > LM > W3SVC > 1 > ROOT. Delete the directory you want by right-clicking on it and choosing Delete.
Restart IIS:
Now attempt to create the virtual directory again using the New-EcpVirtualDirectory, New-OwaVirtualDirectory, or New-WebApplication cmdlets

Wk 11 - What next for design?
This week, we learned about the futures of design and explored case studies such as Tempt1′s 'EyeWriter’ project and the concept of ‘Open Frameworks’ (ie. working as a collective to generate free things). I enjoyed learning about examples of how design is being effectively used in this current era for the benefit of society/the collective, rather solely for personal gain/profit.
Tumblr media
Furthermore, we also explored how artists and designers have been dealing with the seemingly endless flow of images/visual material within this modern digital era. These strategies included ‘parametric designs’ (eg. Pepsi logo) as well as ‘generative designs’ (eg. MIT Media Lab logo). It was interesting to see how logo design is developing into a “system”, rather than a singular graphic (like it has traditionally been). This change has likely been influenced by technological advancements, such as in motion graphics.

WK5: Secondary Research
I have completed a wide range of secondary research in order to give some context to my qualitative interviews. This helps me to understand what is happening in the world with sustainability, current trends and discourse and the scale of the problem. I also took this opportunity to further delve into the psychology behind behaviour and what can lead to sustainable behaviour change.
New Zealand Situation
Major sustainability/environmental issues in New Zealand
Climate change and Dairy
Climate change as well as plastic pollution are the issues that get the most media attention. In NZ we are in particular facing the challenge of emissions and environmental damage caused by dairy farming, the backbone of our economy. This issue demonstrates the complexity of sustainability which involves both economic and social issues as well as environmental. Other big emitters include transport, in Auckland alone it makes up 40% of our emissions. The Government have responded to climate change with the zero carbon bill as well as signing the Paris agreement and the council with the climate action framework. The Zero carbon bill will hold the government to account around emissions especially the target of carbon neutral by 2050. The Paris agreement was created by the United Nations also a creator of the sustainable development goal. Nations who have signed it have agreed to limit warming to below 1.5 degrees below pre - industrial levels. (Wright, 2017)
Soil Erosion
Another less talked about environmental issue within sustainability. It is basically when land erodes away and is caused by nature such as land slides, thunder storms, scree and steam banks. human actions such as deforestation, and land clearing for farming which left soil vulnerable to rain, frost and wind. Introduction of new species such as possums and stoats which trample and eat plants also speeds up soil erosion. The displaced soil shifts to flatter land or gets into waterways and the ocean causing more environmental damage. Because the nz economy is so reliant on agriculture and food is integral to life and survival soil erosion is a massive issue and very much relevant to sustainability. (Gregg, 2008)
Other relevant issues include the ecological/biodiversity crisis and over population.
Key figures and organisations in Sustainability in NZ include:
Politically:
Green Party Mp’s, in particular co-convenor James Shaw, Minister for Climate Change and Eugenie Sage -
Ministry for the Environment asos min for the environment.
Jacinda Ardern has also said that climate change will be her generations “nuclear free” moment. And released the wellbeing budget ain 2019. Which indicates a shift in thinking from being solely economy focused to include social and environmental considerations.
Business:
Sustainable Business Network
Carbon Coalition
Academic:
AUT has the Vice Chancellors Sustainability Task force (Which I am a part of as a student representative)
Community:
Many community groups have sprung up to address a wide range of sustainability issues including:
For the Love of Bees
Sustainable Coastlines
School Strike for Climate
Eco Matters
Green washing and token actions
This term describes organisations and companies who make false claims about the “environmental friendliness” of their products to increase sales. This i a threat to genuine sustainability as it lulls people into thinking they are making a difference or gives them license to consume more. It also create sceptics of organisations and companies who are genuinely sustainable. Token actions such as banning plastic bags whilst a positive step and important can also prevent further more meaningful action. Some people believe that by switching from plastic straws to metal, is all they need to do to be more sustainable. This can limit people from understanding sustainability at a depth and truly shifting their behaviour, lifestyle and ultimately worldview.
Overall this section of my research makes it very clear how important it is for the public to engage in these issues in order to force change.
Behaviour change
Trans theoretical model: includes six stages an individual must go through to change a particular behaviour - especially used for harmful behaviours and addictions. Stages are: 1. Pre-contemplation, 2. Contemplation, 3. Preparation, 4. Action, 5. Maintenance, 6. Termination. A approximate time is given to each stage 6 months i required to maintain the action before it becomes habitual and the individual is no longer tempted to regress into bad habits. Theory highlighted the need for time to think and mental processes before making big shifts in life style.
Behaviour Interventions: My research from design research last semester was all about how behaviour can be manipulated by the design of products. And sustainable sue of a product can be subtly prompted through design. For example a fridge can be designed so that it is easier for the user to organise and remember where things are kept. This prevents them from keeping the fridge door open and shuffling items when trying to locate something, reducing energy usage.
Motivating Sustainable Behaviours: This was an interesting report I read last semester, and have gone over again about the psychology of sustainable behaviour. Drivers of behaviour  were discussed. I learnt that new ideas in psychology include that decision making comes from two separate systems one is rational, deliberate and rules based the other is associative unconscious, sensory driven and impulsive. Sustainable behaviours do no generally appeal to the associative system, but strategies can be employed to make it so, or to drive the rules-based system to reject the associative systems gut/initial rejection of a sustainable behaviour.
Including:
Social proofing - when an individual believes that something is being done by those around them they are much more likely to engage in that behaviour too.
Breaking down Bystander Confusion or the inertia caused by confronting an overwhelming problem,
Emphasising intrinsic value or other benefits such as personal health etc.
Make information visible and accessible.
Encourage mindfulness/critical thinking.
Focus on making small changes and steps rather than being perfect.

WK 5: Comparing Semester One Primary Research
Recap of most recent Insight Statements:
The future of my children and/or the next generation motivate me to do more
Sustainability is a broad and complex problem that can be difficult to comprehend and then difficult to act upon
Strong leadership from government and big organisations is required to make change
Busy lifestyle where I am trying to “get ahead” or keep up with the jones’s prevents me from taking positive action
sometimes I am sceptical of environmentally beneficial actions and this prevents me from acting
Communicating Sustainability in certain ways can make me feel either empowered or guilty”
Insight Statements from Semester one:
“role models in my life can encourage me and inform me to make sustainable choices”
“lack of time, money, and infrastructure or facilities that support sustainability are barriers to me taking sustainable actions.”
If I believe that government and business have greater responsibility for championing sustainable change than individuals I am less likely to engage in environmental/sustainability programs/volunteer events
a) Those that said government and businesses were most responsible for championing sustainable change reasoned that this was because these groups were the biggest polluters and/or had the most capacity to have impact on this issue. (4//8) Of the four that said govt was responsible ¾ were from the non community group. All of those that said businesses were responsible were from thee non-community group. b) Those that said the individuals were most responsible for championing sustainable change cited these reasons: (5/8) Out of this 5, 4 were from the community group.
“even if I am not aware of green washing, I will be conscious of the fact that not all “green” marketed or accredited businesses are necessarily authentic, truthful or accurate”
“If I cannot see the tangible benefit of what I am doing for the environment it makes the action less gratifying”
“some respondents located a particular area in sustainability that they were most interested in such as recycling, energy sources, community and wellbeing etc. and repeatedly made reference to these areas with their question answers”
many respondents identified frustration as a feeling they had towards sustainability in general. And said the lack of action from others was a reason for this.
Reflection
Consistencies between both groups included an awareness of green washing, the idea of leadership/role models. Lack of time and money being a barrier interestingly the more recent lot of interviewees who were older also mentioned lack of energy as a barrier to action. More acknowledgement that sustainability is a broad and complex problem came from the older group as well. Future of children as a reason to be more sustainable was emphasised more in the older group.

Bethesda at E3: Elder Scrolls VI, Starfield affirmed for "people to come" Nitty gritty take a gander at Fallout '76, Rage 2, in addition to a Doom amaze, Elder Scrolls: Blades, more.
Computer game distributer Bethesda facilitated a romping pre-E3 question and answer session on Sunday evening with various diversion uncovers from existing establishments like Doom, Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, and Rage. In any case, the distributer's most tempting uncovers were additionally its briefest ones: since quite a while ago reputed amusement arrangement Starfield. furthermore, the primary mainline Elder Scrolls passage since 2011.
Bethesda Director Todd Howard shut the meeting with Bethesda's two-section bother of future recreations. The main, Starfield, was portrayed as "a fresh out of the box new, people to come, single-player diversion. This one is in an all-new epic establishment. Our first entirely unique establishment in 25 years."
Starfield's uncover trailer started with a true to life take a gander at a planet's edge in space, trailed by a skimming satellite in its region that is suddenly tore through time. No discharge date was declared. Its portrayal counters the rehashed gossip that Starfield may spin around cell phone play. Rather, Howard's short depiction may point to a hold up until successors to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One achieve the market.
Following that brisk mystery, Howard chose to slip the group one more goodie: "the diversion after [Starfield], and it's the one you continue getting some information about." What took after was an extraordinarily short trailer that demonstrated a moving camera shot over a monster, rich mountain range and afterward a logo that got the group thundering: Elder Scrolls VI. No subtitle or discharge window was incorporated. (Howard's "after Starfield" proclamation appears to likewise indicate future consoles as ES6's objective stages.)
Continuations and DLC: Hell on Earth, compact Elder Scrolls, "%^&* Nazis"
One surprising twist off declared at the meeting was another portable section in the Elder Scrolls arrangement, yet not something moderate or menu-driven. Senior Scrolls: Blades is a completely fledged first-individual RPG that takes after Skryim, made up of a blend of pre-made and procedurally produced universes, that will come to PCs, supports, iOS, Android, and PC VR frameworks this fall in allowed to-play shape. Sharp edge's gameplay trailer uncovered both tap-to-move and virtual joystick control alternatives, which were flaunted as shockingly smooth development and battle on an iPhone X. How the amusement will scale for different gadgets stays to be seen.
In the mean time, a true to life pre-rendered arrangement affirmed a formerly prodded return for the Doom arrangement, finish with an obvious "Terrible" theme. In any case, as opposed to go up against the first PC amusement's name Doom II: Hell on Earth, id Software rather uncovered another name: Doom Eternal. Points of interest, for example, "twice the same number of adversaries" were prodded, yet a bigger, gameplay-stacked uncover should hold up until this current August's QuakeCon.
Wolfenstein Youngblood was reported as another independent Wolfenstein shooter amusement with a multiplayer community center. Its short secret trailer incorporated no gameplay and an unclear discharge window of 2019. In another no-gameplay bother, Wolfenstein Cyberpilot was declared as a VR restrictive with simply a title declaration, however the new VR shooter will be playable on the current year's E3 indicate floor. That amusement is a piece of Bethesda's "main goal to bring the message of 'fuck Nazis' to each stage conceivable," Hines included.
Two other Elder Scrolls turn off arrangement, Elder Scrolls Online and Elder Scrolls Legends, each got prods of new substance. Specifically, the card amusement Legends has been reported as coming to Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 in the not so distant future.
What's more, Prey got a declaration of another substance fix running live tonight with "story mode," "new amusement in addition to," and bolster for the diversion's initially paid DLC add-on, which is presently authoritatively live and available to be purchased. Mooncrash's trailer demonstrated players venturing onto a base on the Moon and battling with an assortment of the arrangement's unpleasant outsiders. Later this late spring, another multiplayer battle mode, named Titanhunter, will make a big appearance for Prey that will part players between human warriors and the diversion's "copy" animals.
Aftermath '76: "Yes, it's completely on the web"
After a phony promotion for an Amazon Echo adaptation of Skyrim, featuring Keegan-Michael Key, Bethesda's Todd Howard started informing the group regarding "the following Fallout"— which will dispatch on November 14 of this current year. Aftermath '76 will get a beta trial before dispatch, yet Bethesda didn't affirm when or how players will have the capacity to take an interest.
As Bethesda Software Director Todd Howard started depicting Fallout '76, he said the wide expansiveness of characters in Fallout recreations of the past. "One major distinction with this diversion: every one of those characters is a genuine individual," Hines said. "Indeed, Fallout '76 is totally on the web"— and is controlled by Bethesda's private servers, Howard later affirmed.
"Obviously you can play this performance," Howard told the group. "Be who you need, investigate the colossal world doing journeys, encountering a story, and step up. We cherish those things about our amusements, as well, and would not have it some other way." Still, Howard's portrayals pivoted to a great extent on the advantages of collaborating—or taking out online adversaries. (He in any event guaranteed anyone stressed over MMO desires that amusement occurrences would be constrained to "handfuls" of kindred players, not hundreds. "It's the end of the world, not an entertainment mecca," Howard said.)
A trailer for the diversion's online substance demonstrated a blend of PvE and PvP battle, however it didn't affirm regardless of whether players will have the capacity to quit the PVP partition. One feature incorporated a curiously large, clench hand beating sloth going up against four companions all the while. Furthermore, Howard affirmed that settlements can be manufactured and imparted to online players. This time, they're known as C.A.M.P.s, however short looks at menus recommended, without affirming, that these will work in comparable mold to Fallout 4's settlements.
Howard indicated to the diversion's full world concealing "different rocket destinations." Rushes to get hands on these rockets appeared as though they may make up the amusement's higher-trouble online community challenges—which means, Fallout's form of attacks, however maybe just with a four-player center greatest. Bombs that are obtained and propelled by community gatherings will arrive some place on the genuine guide—and conceivably affect different players—to clear a way for your center group to burrow through the nuked destruction, battle harder creatures, and gain more plunder.
A live-gameplay trailer started with a pleasantly outfitted, craftsmanship deco flat, alongside first-individual perspective of players preparing a Pip-Boy gadget. Players stroll into an unfilled vault where an evident American Tencentenary gathering had occurred with other vault inhabitants who had a great time and left. Following this came more film of the diversion's foliage-filled West Virginia environs, alongside the Fallout arrangement's most vivified and twisted creatures yet.
Prior in the day, Fallout '76 got a littler uncover at Microsoft's evening public interview. At the time, it for the most part affirmed a stylish very like Fallout 4—which in any event alleviated those who'd speculated a "lighter" go up against the Fallout universe—alongside cases of a diversion "four times" the span of the arrangement's last full passage.
Fury 2: Mad Max goes science fiction Technicolor
Rocker Andrew WK turned the meeting volume up by playing "Prepare to Die," the tune utilized as a part of Rage 2's opening secret promotion, on a similar stage Bethesda CEO Pete Hines had presented the show minutes sooner. (In case you're pondering, truly, the melody sounded boisterous face to face.) Shortly a while later, Bethesda disclosed the amusement's first evident gameplay trailer.
"God played Judas on mankind long prior," the diversion's legend, Walker, said as storyteller of the trailer. Whatever remains of the video watched straight out of a center schooler's most sick sketchbook, if arranged on the deserts of Mad Max: Fury Road and the science fiction mental trip scenes of Annihilation. Armless robo-zombies shot rockets; molecule projectiles influenced foes to drift before transforming them into a blast of gibs; each shootout had strategically located gas tanks, which detonated with noteworthy volumetric smoke and discharge impacts; and the trailer finished with a Sloth-like humanoid mammoth employing a goliath pound while wearing a broken football cap that his make a beeline for burst through.
The trailer uncovered superpowers like an airborne ground-pound and a power push assault, and vehicular battle was underscored with an in fact welcome trademark: "in the event that you can see it, you can drive it." The trailer's auto pursue scene saw Walker bring down various four-wheelers by shooting his goliath ride's auto mounted rockets and thumping adversaries off the street (with one adversary crash demonstrating its best mounted driver squashed by its own auto). Some similarity of plot was indicated at, as a remote voice summoned Walker to call a rocket to arrive on the earth for an indistinct mission. In any case, you know, this was for the most part about quick, well-known first-individual impacting.
Fierceness 2's mid-May gameplay mystery affirmed advancement obligations were generally given to the open-world amusement architects at Avalanche—and that the diversion consolidated Technicolor-punk feel with the primary Rage diversion's affection for Mad Max. (Torrential slide, for the uninitiated, is known for both the Just Cause and Mad Max amusement arrangement.) "We've appreciated the open-world disarray in all of Avalanche Studios' diversions," id Software studio Director Tim Willits told the E3 meeting swarm. Regardless of whether Willits values Avalanche's notoriety for uneven edge rate execution on comforts, be that as it may, is another issue—and the "genuine pre-alpha gameplay" video had what's coming to its of stammers and messy hostile to associating.

R v Untinen: A Principled Approach Towards the Admissibility of Prior Consistent Statements
R v Untinen 2017 BCCA 320 : A Principled Approach Towards the Admissibility of Prior Consistent Statements
Motivated by more recent decisions of other provincial appellate courts, Fitch J.A. of the British Columbia Court of Appeal abandons past decisions of his own court in a decision which both reaffirms and enriches the truth-seeking function of a criminal trial. Amongst other factors, prior consistent statements are presumptively inadmissible due to their unreliability. The rationale being that a story is not made more trustworthy the more times it is repeated.
Notwithstanding past rulings of the British Columbia Court of Appeal in R v Aksidan 1 and R v S (KP) 2, this shift towards a principled approach to the law of evidence ultimately leads to consistencies between a witness’s videotaped statement and trial testimony to assess a witness’s credibility and reliability being admitted as evidence.
Resulting from related incidents which occurred during the night of March 16, 2014 and into the morning of the 17th of March, 2014, the accused was convicted of one count of unlawful confinement and two counts of sexual assault causing bodily harm. In May 2014, the complainant, P.A., was diagnosed by her family physician with Wernicke-Korsakoff Syndrome (WKS), a progressive form of dementia. People who suffer from this syndrome experience a variety of difficulties relating to memory. Symptoms of WKS may include: amnesia for certain events that occur after the onset of the disorder; hallucinations; and confabulation.
It is unclear based on the evidence whether the recent trauma was a trigger for the onset of this syndrome, and the court is cautious not to speculate. In closing submissions, counsel for the appellant argued that the complainant's memory impairment was such that "she's probably not being untruthful it just doesn't happen to be the truth." Counsel for the accused cited two grounds of appeal in order to overturn the 2015 trial decision. The first ground of appeal was that the trial judge erred in concluding from the evidence of the complainant’s family physician that the complainant’s cognitive functioning was at a “much higher level” at the time of her video-recorded statement. The second ground of appeal was that the trial judge also erred by concluding that the complainant’s video statement could be used to “corroborate” her trial testimony. In regards to the first ground of appeal, as sufficient evidence existed at trial, Fitch J.A. demonstrated a high level of deference to the trial judge’s conclusion that the complainant’s level of cognitive functioning was considerably higher when the video statement was taken in contrast to her testimony at trial. Following the resolution of the first ground, much of Fitch J.A.’s analysis focuses on the trial judge’s decision to compare the complainant’s video statement with her trial testimony in order to ultimately rule out the possibility of confabulation, a common symptom of the complainant’s psychopathology.
Fitch J.A. acknowledges that it is well-established that a video-recorded statement admitted pursuant to ss. 715.1 or 715.2 of the Criminal Code“cannot bolster or corroborate the truthfulness of the complainant's trial testimony simply because it is consistent with that testimony.” However, in keeping with the goal of truth-seeking, Fitch J.A. echoes commentary provided in The Law of Evidence in Canada which clarifies “the primary goal is to create a record of what is probably the best recollection of the events in order to arrive at an honest and complete account of the witness’ story”.3
Where circumstances warrant, an out-of-court video statement can often provide important context aiding a judge or jury’s evaluation of a witness’s credibility.
Upholding the trial judge’s decision of allowing the video statement to be admitted buttresses the core principle of the search for truth. In this case, where the complainant’s mental health demonstrated major signs of erosion between the time of the video statement and her in court testimony, the admittance of the video statement provided probative value towards the search for truth. For the above reasons, Fitch J.A ruled that in the cases of R v Aksidan and R v S (KP), the declarations that no use can be made of consistencies between a complainant's video-recorded statement and in-court testimony should no longer be followed in the future.
Another potential concern underlying Fitch J.A.’s decision to uphold the admittance of the video statement as evidence could be his awareness of the potential for the trial process to further victimize a victim of crime. The complainant’s depreciated mental health became clear at the time of trial evidenced by the difficulties she experienced in communicating her testimony. This provides a prime example of the need for flexibility in line with a principled approach to the law of evidence as opposed to the rigidity inherent to a rule based approach. Given the degenerative nature of the complainant’s mental health, compounded by the sexual and violent nature of the acts committed against her, applying the presumption against the admissibility of prior consistent statements with such rigidity would only cause further harm to the complainant in this case.
Often with a principled approach to the law of evidence comes inevitable complexity. The greatest use of flexibility is the allowance for discretion on the part of the judge, and the ability to logically apply the law on a case-by-case basis. The nuances which arise based on the context of each case can lead to judges having a much wider breadth of discretion than if they were to solely mechanically apply and follow rigid frameworks of rules where the outcomes of each case may be more certain. Despite this uncertainty and judges’ lack of desire to wield this open-ended discretion, it should be evident that when laws become devoid of reason they are no longer fulfilling the objective they were once implemented to serve.

4 Lessons in Non-Violent Peace Building
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar with Farc Leaders at peace talks in Cuba pre-ceasefire As the CEO of TLEX Institute, a leadership institute that trains leaders from global agencies, Fortune 100 companies and governments working through transitions in fragile states, I have seen how conflict and power struggles can become deeply embedded in how people operate. Even seasoned progressive leaders can struggle to disentangle their own and others' identities, cultures and systems from cycles of retaliation and aggression. To inform my own work and leadership, I continually seek examples of leaders who move people to let go of the past, bridge perspectives and solve problems together. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the founder of the Art of Living Foundation, has modeled for decades innovative ways to bridge conflicting side through authentic dialogue and allow peacebuilding to begin through nonviolence. Over that time period Sri Sri has been invited into peace building processes in 10 regions across the globe, including Colombia, Kosovo, Sri Lanka, Iraq, and India. He brings deep expertise in how the human mind, emotions and spirit function across religions, ethnicities and cultures. This expertise finds its roots not in western psychology, but in centuries-old spiritual principles and practices from the Vedic tradition of India, where Gandhian principles of ahimsa (non-violence) also find their origins. Observing how Sri Sri enters and holds space as a peacebuilder offers lessons on how leaders across sectors can shift mindsets of people in organizations and communities towards collaboration and trust. Expanding capacity for peace through meditation When the minds of those involved in generating tactics and solutions for peace are clouded over by resentment about the past or anxiety about an uncertain future, authentic dialogue and trust-building cannot occur. Sri Sri regularly guides all parties involved in the peace building process - including presidents and government agents, activists and advocates, religious and cultural leaders, guerrillas and terrorists -- in meditation and breathing. Research suggests that meditation improves creativity and cognitive functioning, emotional stability and regulation, and response to stress - with enduring effects on brain functioning. Through meditation, Sri Sri seems to increase the social-emotional capacity of conflicting sides to engage in dialogue - not by talking about it, but by enabling people with mind-body tools that increase their capacity to hold and process complex emotions and see new possibilities. Deep listening as an act of healing When those who question injustice (whether real or perceived) are silenced, made invisible, or misrepresented, anger can amplify into violence. Violence can spark retaliation, and the original reason for the violence can become lost in a cycle of revenge. Sri Sri shares that "when unanswered questions ferment in the mind, they turn into violence." Sri Sri is able to be fully present with people, without judgment or agenda. The quality of deep listening he exhibits allows people to feel their humanity acknowledged, which is sometimes what is most desperately needed on the path to peace and reconciliation. I was able to observe Sri Sri meet with young Black activists as protests began turning violent on the streets of Baltimore. Sri Sri fully acknowledged, invited, and listened to each person in the room verbalize their anger and frustration, then guided them in a meditation. He spoke only a few words, yet by the end of the hour-long meeting, the activists were laying out a vision for a peaceful racial justice movement. Beyond blame and victimhood Whether bringing conflicting sides together into one room or conducting individual meetings, Sri Sri engages all sides of a conflict - leaders, victims and rebels. He moves dialogue from victim-perpetrator to a perspective that all those involved in cycles of violence are victims - including terrorists, violent gang members, and perpetrators of crime. After meeting with President Juan Manuel Santos, Sri Sri was invited to engage with FARC leaders. "When you see one is a culprit, you demand them to be punished. When you understand that the culprit is also a victim, for the sake of peace, we can walk an extra mile," Sri Sri shared during conversations lasting several days with FARC leaders. Soon after speaking with Sri Sri, Ivan Marquez, FARC commander shared in a press conference: "We agree with Master Shankar that deep down, we are all victims. And if we begin with that understanding, we can leave behind the past, a sad story of violence that must not be repeated." Even if past wrongs cannot be corrected, this orientation seems to open a window of compassion and unlock the posturing of one side vs. another, allowing for movement forward. Commander Marquez shares: "With the help of Sri Sri, we have placed our spirit [in the direction of] achieving reconciliation and coexistence of a big and benevolent country, whose destiny can't be that of war... As a result of these talks the FARC will use Gandhian principles to attain social justice. "We can have our political goals, and not give up the cause. But with a new experiment, a new vision of non-violence." Inspiring valor in non-violence In engaging with guerillas, terrorists, and others who use violence to achieve their ends, Sri Sri's spiritual orientation grants him a level of compassion and equanimity that makes him see the human strengths we all possess. Sri Sri shares that those willing to harm others and die for a cause possess great fearlessness, commitment, and sacrifice, which only need to be redirected. For example, Khalid was a former leader of Hazbid Mujahideen terrorist outfit who recruited and trained youth in villages throughout Kashmir. Sri Sri inspired in him confidence and valor in non-violence as a more powerful means towards justice. He shared that after meeting Sri Sri, he realized he had chosen the wrong path. Khalid is now committed to spreading a message of love and non-violence throughout those same villages. Sri Sri demonstrates there is incredible potential in peacebuilding processes that connects the hearts and humanity of people across all sides of conflict. Through spiritual practices and frameworks, he opens up new possibilities for those locked in conflict not to give up on justice, but to envision social transformation through peace. "Social justice is the first step of spirituality," he shares. "In fact, spirituality brings social justice. The one goes with the other."
