Let’s smash Jargons with Web Development vocabulary
Tumblr media
Jargon is the words that are specific with a discipline or a field and are known by the persons that have a specialization or deal with development. However, individuals new to the Web Development industry and the people having websites or those going to own an online existence can’t seem to grasp the jargons of Web Development. Therefore, let’s smash these jargons with Web Development vocabulary and make it easier.
Algorithm
Set of rules and instructions (or manual) that gets used during computation and problem-solving tasks.
API
Stands for ‘Application programming interface’ is a shared boundary between two programs, computers, or applications to communicate and exchange data.
Application
Also known by ‘App or Apps’ is a kind of software. It lets the user carry out different tasks. When associated with a medium used as a suffix like, desktop app, mobile apps, web app.
Bootstrap
An open-source Front-End framework to devise websites and apps. It uses CSS and HTML templates to build user-intractable features of websites and apps.
Front-End & Back-End & Full-stack
Some other important words in Web Development vocabulary are: Front-End is what you get to see and interact on the website. Back-End indicates the working and development of codes and programming on servers and databases behind a website or app, i.e., what will be showing on the front is processed backstage. Full-stack is working on the combination of both ends during a project.
Bug & Debugging
A bug is a coding error (fault, flaw) which does not allow the running and processing of the applications (smoothly as they typically should). Debugging is identifying and eliminating these errors.
Cache
A temporary place that stores data of the first visit on a website to ease the second visitation. (No need to retrieve the previously used files from the original server)
Code
Combination of letters, numbers, and symbols (using programming languages) to process and convert information to do a task. (It is like a rule or message)
CMS
Stands for Content Management System and work for editing the content of the website.
Deployment
When a website gets ready to go on-air in the World Wide Web, it means it is all set to be deployed.
Version Control, Git & Git Hub
Version control refers to the saving of changes that a developer has made in coding, programming, or in a website. Git is a version control system to manage and store the codes (track all changes and can reverse, in case). GitHub is a cloud hosting platform of Git with other useful features.
HTTP
Stands for HyperText Transfer Control and indicates the data transfer on the internet from server end to client end.
Programming Languages
System (or medium) of communication that eventually builds all the codes. Most famous ones used for Web Development are CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), HTML (HyperText Markup Language), Java, JavaScript, PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor), Python, Ruby, etc.
Libraries & Frameworks
Libraries are stores where pre-written codes, modules, and laws are kept for later use to make the coding easy, for instance, jQuery. Likewise, frameworks are the packages of tools and solution for later use and work faster, for example, Ruby on Rails.
Plugin
Another important word of the Web Development vocabulary is the plugin: which is an add-on (extension) of features to add alongside an existing software to increase functionality.
Sitemap
It is the map (layout, outline) of the webpages of a website.
SSL
It is an abbreviation of Secure Sockets Layer, and it refers to the safe and encrypted transfer of data between servers and browsers.
UX Design & UI Design
UX stands for user experience and UI for the user interface. They are all about user-friendly interaction and experience of a website for users.
This directory focusing on Web Development vocabulary does cover a lot of jargons; however, it is not comprehensive. Hope you find it useful.

Coding--languages for Web Development Services
Tumblr media
Every work and field has some foundations and rules to follow. Likewise, Web Development needs a foundation to stand on, and these regulations and basics are the programming languages. This discussion comprises the outline of the most used coding languages for Web Development Services.
Perception of Coding
These languages eventually devise the codes that run the applications and the servers. Coding or programming creates commands and codes consisting of the rules, vocabulary, and abbreviations for the machines to follow. And is understandable by the devices and machines only.
Although there is a lengthy list of machine languages that are in use for Coding during the Web Development Services. However, some popular ones are:
·         Java
Java is considered to be the most utilized and implemented coding language. Use for object-oriented purposes and is suitable for all platforms.
·         JavaScript
This language engages well with all the browsers and famous for Front-End Development. JavaScript works for both functional and object-oriented programming. Most of the interfaces, websites, desktop apps, and games constitute this coding language.
·         Python
More famous for Back-End Development, Python is an emerging language. Yet it is becoming one of the most widely used languages for Web Development Services. It is an easy-handling language and is also used for all purposes, i.e., functional and object-oriented.
·         CSS / HTML
HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language. At the same time, CSS is the abbreviation of Cascading Style Sheets. The former builds the pages’ structure and the latter deals with the layout.
·         C++
C++ developed at the end of the mid-nineties, is full of technicalities. It is an object-oriented language and is mainly used in Back-End Web Development.
·         C
C language is a cornerstone of the development industry as other languages like Java, C++, and Python use its created building elements. It is a general-purpose language and assists in, especially Back-End Web Development.
·         PHP
PHP provides services for both Back-End and Front-End Web Development.
·         SQL
SQL stands for Structured Query Language. It is famous for providing easy handling of complex databases.
·         Ruby
It is useful for both Back-End and Front-End Website Development. This language offers fast development of web applications and programs.
·         Go
This language is a new addition in the programming languages. However, being the Google Dedicated Programming Language, it is emerging as an easy for all using, readability, integration, and problem-solving language.
Some other coding languages for Web Development Services include:
·         Dart
·         Scala
·         Kotlin
·         Rust
·         Delphi
·         Perl
·         Lua
·         Haskell
However, the ones mentioned above are the famous and widely used languages for Web Development Services.

Agile Web Development vs Traditional Development
Tumblr media
Web development, no doubt, is a time taking process. But is there any solution to speed it up? Surely, there is with the name of Agile Web Development. Let’s check out what is it, and it differs from the Traditional Web Development Services.
TRADITIONAL WEB DEVELOPMENT
Traditional Web Development is also known as Water Fall Development process. In this type of development, every process comes in work simultaneously after the completion of the former startup. That is a sequential order of the services gets followed.
To illustrate this, whenever a client partners up with a Web Development Company to get a new website. The company first analyses and then moves on to plan the project, followed by the documentation. Afterwards, the Web Design part comes in hand for working. Subsequently, the development stands as the next step, followed by the testing (feedback, user acceptance, review). Passing from all the former processes, finally, comes the deployment (when a website is ready to go live or on-air).
The traditional Website Development process takes months or one year at maximum for the completion of the project (that is quite a prolonged period).
AGILE WEB DEVELOPMENT
You might think that it may be a technical term or source to do Web Development; however, it refers to the method with which the Web Development is done.
Obviously, development of the website, for instance, Front-End Web Development and Back-End Web Development parts will be the same. Still, the systematic approach gets different from traditional methods.
What differs is that the planning is done once in the presence of all participants that are going to work on the website (decision-makers, designers, developers, content writers). Then, there are no more meetings, communication via calls and emails in Agile Web Development process.
Furthermore, the most noticeable difference is that launched does not get delayed waiting for the completion of the project (i.e., the website). Shortly after the designing and developing of the website, it gets launched. Then tested and reviewed so that the small issues can be sorted out earlier.
It helps not only in saving from dealing with larger problems after the completion of the project like traditional development but results in a more optimized and functional website in a shorter time
WHICH ONE IS BETTER?
As far as the query which one is better is concerned, it can be drawn from the above comparison that although they are alike in features still both follow a different approach. Moreover, considering the time factor, traditional development takes more time to handover the project to the client. Whereas, Agile Web Development is a faster and excellent time-saver process.
