Kinda super long post. TLDR at the end
Idk if I've mentioned this before but if I have, idc, you're listening to it again. Almost exactly 12 months ago I was in probably the worst place mentally and physically, even more than my teens. I won't get into details because that will make this post require a community label and my intention is just to get this stuff of my chest. Even so, now I feel happier, I'm surrounded by people who don't hate me and even though it makes me nervous I can't wait to go to graduation (which is in 11 days btw!) and show people how much better I am now. Not in an arrogant way but in a "getting away from you people turned my whole life around" way. I know the whole point of glow ups isn't for others but for self improvement, but I've always wanted that "be careful who you call ugly in middle school college" glow up.
Just. I imagine myself actually putting in 10% more effort into my appearance, so I look neither like a sleep-deprived zombie nor a cried-myself-to-sleep last-night-zombie. Maybe those who weren't as terrible would talk to me a little. Maybe get a few compliments? They ask about how I'm doing, I ask about their life, I compliment them because a lot of them actually have better fashion sense, and we have nice genuine conversation? ....Does that feel self-obsessed and vain? The other day Dad and I were going somewhere but we were stuck in traffic which gave us plenty of time to have a few "reflecting on life discussions" as he calls it. And he told me that it was nice to not see me in as pathetic of a situation as I was a year ago (that sounds rude without context but he was honestly sweet about it lmao). I had seriously considered dropping out of the bachelor's degree program but if that had happened I would have gone back to that place in Jan 2024 and it would have made an "irreparable dent in my career". And he's right. In addition to all this my shit health affected Mom as well and it was honestly heartbreaking because the last thing I wanted was to drag her also into my crises. Let's just say it wasn't "My year" as people generally hope for on New Year's Eve. TLDR; if you're not in a good place please hang on a little longer I know it feels impossible but it's not and I believe in you. I don't claim to be wise or something because i'm 21 i don't know a lot of stuff still but just my little piece of advice that's all

Could you educate me on desis? Like, specify what they are, their culture? Just say whatever - I'm eager to learn hehe
aaa i'm glad you thank to learn more about us ^_^ i don't know what to say exactly but i hope this is helpful nonetheless :D anyone else, please feel free to drop more of these in comments because i couldn't come up with many :<
desi, first of all, is a term used for people, culture or products from the indian subcontinent ( indian, pakistan, bangladesh but i think it also includes nepal, shri lanka, bhutan )
i don't really know what to say on culture because it's diverse— like so diverse, it's hard to sum it up in just one post. there's difference in culture country-wise as one would expect, but there are cultural differences between people region wise. this is mostly because every region has it's own language and / or dialect, it's own characteristic food, dressing style, holidays ?? for example, speaking of india by the way, navratri is the main festival of gujrat but for UP it's deepawali
we are known for our food and weddings i suppose TT weddings especially ! we have a whole lot of pre and post wedding rituals so weddings usually take about a week or more. however, the earliest pre wedding rituals can start as early as almost a month before the actual wedding date. and the weddings are really really fun and extravagant, i hope u get to experience it at least once ><
i don't have other facts about desis specifically TT my mind is blank, and since i'm from india i only know about how things are here and not other countries

Navratri Festival 2024 visit here Blog - Best Indian art and culture | Indradigi.com
India is a very big country, people of all religions reside in it, people of all religions have their own festivals. Like Deepawali, Dussehra, Eid, Raksha Bandhan, Lohri, Teej, Holi, Navratri etc. Navratri Festival is considered a major festival in Hinduism. This festival is known as the worship of nine forms of Goddess Durga. Although this festival is celebrated with great pomp throughout India, but it has great importance in some states like Gujarat, West Bengal, Maharashtra and Uttar India etc. This festival is celebrated in the form of Maa Durga Upasana in 9 days and nights, it literally means “nine nights” Although the festival of Navratri comes four times in every year, but among these, Shardiya Navratri and Chaitra Navratri are considered to be of great importance. Shardiya Navratri comes either in September or October.
What is the religious significance of Navratri Festival
The festival of Navratri has great significance from the religious point of view because on this day Goddess Durga won religion over unrighteousness by killing a demon named Mahishasura. Navratri is also seen as the victory of religion over Adharam. This festival is believed to be related to Goddess Durga, who is the goddess of power, this festival lasts for 9 days and on these nine days, Goddess Durga is worshipped in different forms.
Nine forms of Navadurga:
Shailputri: Daughter of Parvat Raj Himalaya, she is worshipped on the first day of Navratri.
Brahmacharini: The epitome of sadhana and restraint, is the goddess of the second day.
Chandraghanta: A symbol of strength and courage, she is worshipped on the third day.
Kushmanda: The goddess who created the universe, she is worshipped on the fourth day.
Skandamata: Mother of Lord Kartikeya, she is worshipped on the fifth day.
Katyayani: Mahishasura Mardini is worshipped on the sixth day.
Kalratri: The goddess who destroys all kinds of fear and negativity, she is worshipped on the seventh day.
Mahagauri: Goddess of peace and compassion, she is worshipped on the eighth day.
Siddhidatri: The giver of siddhis and powers, she is worshipped on the ninth day.
Legend related to Navratri Festival
Although there are many stories related to Navratri, but the most prominent story is believed to be the war between Goddess Durga and Mahishasura, Mahishasura was a very powerful demon who got a boon from Lord Brahma that no man could kill him.
https://indradigi.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/R-4-1536x1152.jpeg
Due to this boon, the demon had become very powerful and had also become very tyrannical, due to which he had also defeated many gods, then the gods worshipped Goddess Durga and Goddess Durga fought with Mahishasura for 9 days. On the other hand, Lord Rama fasted on Navratri to worship Shakti before the battle with Ravana. or Ravana was killed on the tenth day. This festival is also seen as the victory of Rama and the defeat of Ravana.
Cultural Significance of fast
Navratri festival is celebrated in different forms in different parts of India like in Gujarat, people play dandiya, do garba and go to new places. In Maharashtra too, Garba and Dandiya are celebrated a lot. While in West Bengal this festival is celebrated in a different way, in the last five days Goddess Durga is worshipped, her very huge idols are installed and.
On the tenth day, it is immersed. This festival is also very important in North India, people in Uttar India keep fast, on this day people worship the Mother Goddess, this puja lasts for eight days, on the ninth day, nine girls are honored by sitting as a goddess.
What are Navratri rules and fast
Fasting during the Navratri festival is considered very virtuous, people who fast use satvik food and stay away from non-vegetarian things. The purpose of this festival is not only physical penance, spiritual but also mental and spiritual purification.
The rules of this fast are as follows
Eating fruits at a time or drinking only water
According to this fast, one should eat satvik food once a day
Those who observe this fast should exercise physical and mental restraint
As I just told you, Goddess Durga is worshipped in this fast, so this fast also rules that during this time the Goddess should be worshipped
Last Day of Dussehra Navratri
The festival of Dussehra comes on the tenth day of Navratri Festival, or rather, the festival of Dussehra is celebrated on the tenth day, on this day Sri Rama God declared the victory of good over evil by killing Ravana. And Maa Durga also killed Mahishasura and won good over evil, on this day effigies of Ravana, Meghnad, Kumbhakarna are burnt.
Navratri Festivals and Modern Society
The festival of Navratri is considered very important not only from religious point of view but also from social point of view, this Navratri Festival is celebrated in general, Goddess Durga is worshipped collectively, which promotes the feeling of unity. Fairs are organized on the day of good Navratri; a large number of people participate in it.
Conclusion
From this festival, we get the education that no matter how complex the evil is, 1 day it definitely ends, as we have just seen, Durga Maa had won by killing Mahishasura, victory of good over evil. On the other hand, we get another example where Lord Ram killed Ravana and won good over evil.
Navratri festival is an integral part of Indian culture, it is important not only from religious and spiritual point of view but also from social and cultural point of view. On the day of Navratri, people worship Goddess Durga to awaken their inner and outer powers.

Serve The Policemen | Thakur Dalip Singh
Tumblr media
“Kabeer Sabh Thae Ham Burae Ham Thaj Bhalo Sabh Koe ||” Kabeer Ji has stated in this Gurbani line that I am the worst of all. Everyone else is good. With the meaning of this line, Thakur Dalip Singh ji (Present Namdhari Guru) has praised the police personnel for keeping the society running smoothly and has told the society that the policemen are not bad; they are also good and clean people of heart.
In this context, it has been reported that small police officers typically wake up day and night to work very hard to maintain law and order in society to serve the people while standing in the scorching sun during the summer and freezing cold during the winter. Small policemen don’t even get weekly off, Forget about holiday on festivals. Because these policemen spend time away from their families to serve the public to keep law and order in place so we can celebrate the festival peacefully with our families. We had never considered them before, and there are many such police officers and employees who would not have celebrated Holi and Deepawali with their families for years.
As a result, if you see these policemen working somewhere, you must refresh them there. At the same time, beautify them by saying "You stand for 18-18 hours in the summer and winter, do very hard work for us only, and faithfully perform your duties. Please do not bother the innocent and poor people." Don't do it; instead, speak to them with love so that your image is improved among the innocent and poor people. The police officers' minds will melt when they hear the true beauty. He will purge his evils and reverently serve the people. People should also remember that we should work with policemen to maintain law and order, rather than condemning them for no reason.
Think! What is the point if the police harassing anyone for no reason?
Consider this: Who causes the police to do wrong?
Answer: We and Big people. The truth is that policemen’s have no personal conflicts with anyone; they simply have to do their job and follow orders from superior officers. It is up to the senior officers whether they order the officers to do the right thing or the wrong thing. Not all policemen are corrupt; they are also good people who should be respected. There is a need to consider how much the management of society will deteriorate if there are no policemen. If the police do not protect society, the number of crimes will rise day by day. Some people in society will take the law into their own hands and kill or steal in anyone's home. The fear of the police prevents criminals from committing crimes. The constitution contains laws and rules designed to protect the people. Police officers are responsible for keeping people safe today.
That is why we must always look for the good in others rather than the bad. Because evils abound, we must constantly seek out and correct our flaws. As a result, it is written in Gurbani “Kabeer Sabh Thae Ham Burae Ham Thaj Bhalo Sabh Koe||”

Bought a Revolving Chair from Nilkamal
In mid of November 2022, I took my wife for shopping at Chandni Chowk shop in Indirapuram. After getting down, she went inside shop and I was looking for parking space. Unfortunately, I could not find the space to park my car, then I thought to go to explore near by furniture shops to buy a revolving office sitting chair. While roaming, I find a Nilkamal showroom. I went inside of the showroom and I spoke with one of the salesman for my requirement. He took me in basement, where they have a collection of several kinds of chairs. Salesman had shown one of the chair and explained its features. After evaluations of  features and comfortability, I like that chair. I asked for the price, Salesman said “ it is 12300 rupees. I asked him for the discount.  Salesman said “it is not available right, but it was there during Deepawali festival”. I said to him, “chair is looking good, but I feel price is more. I am okay to buy in the range of 7-8 thousand”. He said “sorry not possible”, and when I came back to home, I just thought to look online price of that chair. To my surprise, price was around 10900 rupees on Nilkamal online store, and after entering discount coupon code it was further down with 10% and final price was 9711. I explored some more online stores, like Amazon and Flipkart, but didn't find better price. And then finally I have bought it from online from Nilkamal. After a week they delivered at my home and assembled next day. Overall experience was good. By this way I saved >2500 rupees. I experienced, when things look costly to you and you really want to buy it for the current requirements, better to explore other shops and online store for pricing. You can save some money by applying your little intellectuals. I also realized and change my perception that a salesman are not working to make you fool, they are actually helping buyers to get what they are actually looking for.
