What's up, gamers. Every so often, I get asked for MK comic recommendations. I'll include links to a couple of really good reading guides from the subreddit (that I had Zero hand in making) and toss my two cents below. Not that it'll buy you anything.
TL;DR: See reddit below, be sure to check out the Excel master list of appearances. Most of the quality runs has been printed in omnibus, Epic Collection, trade paperback, Marvel app. You know.
Tumblr media
If those links don't work, go to the r/MoonKnight subreddit and check out the Reading Suggestions and Collected Editions in the menu.
Tumblr media
Below the cut, I give a sort of non-spoiler walkthrough and talk about what's in print .
Cory's Reading List [Edited 2 April 2024]
I read everything on the below list. I have my opinions. If I tell you not to read something, it's because I don't like it. But I'm also some Jewish singlet/non DID/OSDD guy on the internet.
Here are some articles by a system who is a fan of the Moon Knight System.
Tumblr media
Okay, finally, the list
Werewolf by Night (1975) #32 and #33. First appearance.
Marvel Spotlight #29
Hulk Magazine #13-15, #17-18, #20-21 (they're the backup stories, so if you're 'online' search and read by Hulk, scroll halfway through the issue)
Marvel Preview #21
Moon Knight (1980) #1-38 written mostly by Moench and drawn by Sienkiewicz. "But Cory, why are we reading all these old comics?" Because while different words are used now, the writers of the first run do really well at making Marc, Steven, and Jake a system. Iconic rogues are introduced. Marc's first backstory in #37 and #38 is the perfect backstory, imo.
Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu (1985) fucking sucks but #6 is great. So, read #1 so you know what the plot is and #6.
West Coast Avengers (1985-1994) goes here. The first time Khonshu is more than just some weird statue. Also includes Tigra and Marc kissing. MK is in issues #21-41, which is collected in 3 different Epic Collections and at least one is out of print because someone in Marvel hates me specifically /jk. The Epic Collections are titled: Lost in Space-Time, Tales To Astonish (out of print), and Vision Quest.
Marc Spector: Moon Knight (1989-1994) is 60 issues and it gets borderline unreadable about halfway through. That being said, the first half has some great stuff. So honestly, read a few stories from it, get tired, and know he dies at the end. Then read
Resurrection Wars and High Strangers - two separate mini-series by Moench because they killed his boy. Walks back some of the MS: MK things to the 1980s days.
MK (2006) is 30 grimdark issues. The first 13 issues are usually all I can stomach. Marc gets injured, kills Bushman in an extremely violent way, and has substance use issues. He also is extremely violent, lashes out/pushes away his original cast. The run is hella ableist.
Vengeance of the Moon Knight (2009): The most Marc acting Jake Lockley in existence, coming back from a stint in Mexico at the end of MK 2006. Some retcons. It's. Fine.
Secret Avengers (2010) #19 is one of the only issues with decent MK. First sighting of Mr. Knight. Too bad it's by Ellis. The rest of Secret Avengers is ableist or he's not really there.
Shadowland: MK is an event tie-in. Does some retcons I like but also our favorite can't stay dead brother is back.
MK (2011) by Bendis. Don't read it. Steven and Jake are replaced by Cap, Wolverine, and Spider-Man. Why isn't addressed.
MK (2014): Marc's back from LA. Introducing Mr. Knight. As far as plot goes, it's mid. As far as cool art goes, it fucks. Do you like black and white suit? Marc punching ghosts? Bird skull Khonshu? Tell Shavley thanks. This run is mostly out of print on account that the first writer, Ellis, sexually coerced people.
MK (2016): Lemire and Smallwood. The dream team. It's set in the System's inner world. If you can only get one run in print, this is the one I recommend.
MK (2017): The Bemis run. Websites attach it to the Lemire run. It's not. Stop reading 2016 when issue #188 appears. It's shit.
Avengers (2018) #31-38. Age of Khonshu only is relevant for what Marc does now and his mental state.
MK (2021) wrapped at 30 issues in December 2023.❤️ MacKay gets it right the vast majority of the time. The art (inks and colors) are some of my favorite work around Sienkiewicz and Shavley. Like Lemire, MacKay ties in classic points with new directions.
Vengeance of the Moon Knight (2024) is the current ongoing from January 2024-???. Same creative team as Moon Knight (2021).

Print Options:
Omnibus is a heavy, oversized, hardback and contains a lot more issues. They also have some weird printing smell and texture. Epic Collections are standard sized, softback that has more issues than a Trade Paper Back (TPB). Make sure you read the back of the volumes so you don't buy repeats. Weigh pros and cons. What do you value/can afford? And the physical weight of the omnibus.
As of Spring 2024, there are currently 5 omnibuses with another on the way.
MK OMNIBUS: Volume 1 (1975-1980) - MK's first appearance, the backups from Hulk magazine, half of the 1980 run.
MK OMNIBUS: Volume 2 (1980-1985) - other half of 1980 run, MK: Fist of Khonshu
MS: MK OMNIBUS Volume 1 (1989-1994) - #1-34 (out of the 60 issues), some Spidey, some Castle.
MS: MK OMNIBUS Volume 2 (1989-1994) - #35-60 and both of Moench's mini-series (Resurrection Wars and High Strangers) and 3 issues of Black Panther. Do I recommend this omnibus? Not really. After the first story in this omni (and even it is stretching it), it really does fall off that cliff. But, I got it because I wanted it on my shelf. Moench and Black Panther stuff helps soften the sting.
MK by Huston, Benson, & Hurwitz OMNIBUS (2006-2010) - all 30 issues of 2006's run and Vengeance of MK, and Shadowland.
Additionally, MacKay's 2021-2023 run will be published as an omnibus in October 2024. I'm only surprised it's happening this soon and without Vengeance but...We'll see what happens in Vengeance eh?
There are currently 6 (going on 7) Epic Collections for the pre-ehhhh... 2006 stuff. Everything after 2006 and Vengeance 2009 is far more accessible in Trades (paper or hardback) or single-volume for certain runs.
MK Epic Collection: Bad Moon Rising - early adventures pre-1980 and the first 4 issues of 1980.
MK: Countdown to Dark: the Hulk backups and Marvel Preview #21.
MK Epic Collection: Shadows of the Moon - MK (1980) #5-23
MK Epic Collection: Final Rest - MK (1980) #24-38
MK Epic Collection: Butcher's Moon - tie-ins, solo issues, and MS: MK (1989) #1-7.
MK Epic Collection: Death Watch. Collects MS: MK #39-51, Divided we fall, and some other tie-ins. Yes, we do jump ahead from #7 to #39.
MK Epic Collection: The Trial of Marc Spector fills in some of Death Watch's gap with MS: MK #8-25 and that Punisher annual. It comes out in October 2024 as well.
For Lemire's run, there is a one volume softcover collection called Moon Knight by Lemire & Smallwood: The Complete Collection. This is the one you want.
Happy reading!!

via Politics – FiveThirtyEight
Sen. Bernie Sanders’s road to a comeback in the Democratic primary once again runs through Michigan. In 2016, Sanders overcame massive polling deficits and less than 1 in 100 odds to score a shocking win in the Michigan primary, showing there was still life in his campaign despite former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s significant delegate lead.
Sanders is now hoping the Wolverine State can do the same for him four years later. Michigan is Sanders’s most important upcoming state for a few reasons. It is big enough (125 pledged delegates) to present him with an opportunity to cut his delegate deficit. It also leans enough toward former Vice President Joe Biden that another Sanders upset there would sow doubt about whether Biden is really as strong as he looks. Finally, Michigan has the benefit of voting now. Well over half of the pledged delegates will have been awarded by the end of this month, meaning that Sanders can’t afford for his comeback to start in April — if it’s going to happen, it needs to start soon.
According to the FiveThirtyEight forecast as of 9 p.m. Eastern on March 8, Biden had a 3 in 4 (77 percent) chance of winning Michigan, while Sanders had a 1 in 4 (23 percent) chance. On average, Biden is forecasted to receive 51 percent of the statewide vote in Michigan, and Sanders is forecasted to receive 42 percent. But those results will likely not be consistent across all corners of the state. We’re forecasting that 11 of Michigan’s 14 congressional districts will be tighter than that — a welcome development for Sanders, given that 82 of Michigan’s pledged delegates are awarded on the district level and he’s overperfoming in several of them.
So let’s take a look at Sanders’s and Biden’s relative strength in each Michigan congressional district (this is in the average scenario of a 51-42 Biden statewide win):
Most districts are close, but Biden dominates in Detroit
Average forecasted vote share for the top two Democratic presidential candidates in Michigan congressional districts, according to the FiveThirtyEight model as of 9 p.m. on March 8
District Biden Sanders MI-01 50% 43% MI-02 48 46 MI-03 49 44 MI-04 49 44 MI-05 52 41 MI-06 50 43 MI-07 49 44 MI-08 48 46 MI-09 49 44 MI-10 48 45 MI-11 47 46 MI-12 49 44 MI-13 60 33 MI-14 61 32 State 51 42
The 13th District and 14th District immediately jump out as the two best districts in the state for Biden. Not coincidentally, these two Detroit-based districts were also — by far — Clinton’s strongest districts in Michigan in 2016, as she crushed Sanders in each by more than 30 percentage points. The fact that both districts are majority black bodes well for Biden just as it did for Clinton; according to exit polls, Biden got 58 percent of the black vote in the median state on Super Tuesday, while Sanders got just 17 percent. In our average forecast, Biden gets 60-61 percent of the vote in these districts, while Sanders gets 32-33 percent. So on election night, if Sanders is leading statewide but the City of Detroit has yet to report, don’t jump to any conclusions — this is Biden’s base.
On the other hand, most other districts in the state figure to be close — none more so than the 11th District (which covers certain northern and western Detroit suburbs like Troy and Livonia), where we are forecasting Biden to get an average of 47 percent and Sanders to get an average of 46 percent. We also expect Sanders to overperform his statewide vote share in the 8th District (which runs from Lansing to the Detroit suburb of Rochester). The 8th and 11th districts have a lot in common, too, besides their expected affinity for Sanders: They are Michigan’s two wealthiest and most college-educated districts, and Democrats flipped both these seats in the 2018 elections.
Sanders is also forecasted to hit 46 percent and almost tie Biden in the 2nd District, which includes some suburbs of Grand Rapids and much of the Lake Michigan shoreline. The district was notably one of Sanders’s best districts back in 2016 (he beat Clinton by more than 20 points). And in the 10th District, a heavily non-college-educated white district covering Michigan’s “Thumb,” our forecast predicts Biden to get 48 percent and Sanders to get 45 percent. If Sanders is going to overperform on Tuesday, these four districts — the 2nd, 8th, 10th and 11th — will probably be leading indicators.
Finally, if it’s a bellwether district you’re after, look no further than the 5th District. Racially, this Flint- and Saginaw-based district looks like Michigan as a whole, although it is also one of the least wealthy and college-educated districts in the state. We’re forecasting Biden to get an average of 52 percent here and Sanders to get an average of 41 percent, which closely matches their expected statewide performance. Sanders winning here on election night could be the first sign that a statewide upset is brewing.
Of course, there’s also a lot of uncertainty as we move into Tuesday, not least because we don’t have many recent polls of Michigan to help us understand how close this race is. But as results come in, keep in mind some of these congressional-district benchmarks, as they can help you judge who might be on pace to win statewide.

Michigan basketball's Eli Brooks and Hunter Dickinson lead the Wolverines to a 74-61 victory against UNLV.
Michigan basketball faced UNLV in the semifinals of the Roman Main Event late Friday night in Las Vegas in a tough, fast-paced game. The Wolverines, on the other hand, proved to be the harder, quicker club and effectively rebounded from their season-opening defeat to Seton Hall at home on Tuesday. No. 6 Michigan defeated UNLV 74-61, improving to 3-1 on the season. The Rebels were close throughout the night, but the Wolverines pulled away late, winning the rebounding battle, 33-24, and shooting 51 percent from the floor. Eli Brooks led the Wolverinesthe Wolverines with 22 points, making 4 of 7 three-point attempts. Hunter Dickinson led the way for UNLV with 13 points and seven rebounds. With 2:49 remaining, a beautiful right-handed jump-hook from the right post gave Michigan a 67-59 advantage, probably sealing the game. More from here : ‘Michigan State is a destination job, not a stepping stone,’ Mel Tucker said amid news of a new deal. Michigan must adapt to these strategies. Seton Hall has a history of causing upsets. Moussa Diabate, a freshman forward, made an immediate impact. A steal in the backcourt by freshman guard Kobe Bufkin led him and Diabate on a two-on-one fast break eight minutes into the first half. Diabate's ferocious one-handed slam over centre David Muoka gave the Wolverines an early 15-11 lead. Following the jam, Diabate regained his groove in the post, where he scored Michigan's next four points. In the first half, the rookie prodigy went a perfect 4-for-4 from the field, finishing with 14 points (6-for-7 shooting), seven rebounds, and two blocks.

Michigan basketball faced UNLV in the semifinals of the Roman Main Event late Friday night in Las Vegas in a tough, fast-paced game. With little under three minutes remaining in the first half, the Wolverines started to pull away from the back-and-forth game, going on a 7-0 run to take a 35-23 lead. The Rebels, on the other hand, fought back. They finished the half on a 9-0 run, highlighted by a step-back 3-pointer by Bryce Hamilton over Brooks seconds before the buzzer. MICHIGAN COACH JUWAN HOWARD RECEIVES A FIVE-YEAR CONTRACT EXTENSION HamiltonHamilton continued hot to start the second half, tying the game at 35 with a three-pointer and later went on a personal 5-0 run to tie the game at 40. UNLV's offence was aided by Hamilton, who led the Rebels with 21 points on 9 of 23 shooting. Michigan regained the lead midway through the second half. Brooks was fouled in the corner by the Rebels' defence, and he hit an open three-pointer to give the Wolverines a nine-point advantage. Guard Michael Nuga drove into the paint as the tempo quickened. Diabate blocked his right-handed layup attempt strongly from behind. The rookie big player kept UNLV at bay by snatching his own offensive rebound for an easy basket, which was followed by a long 2-pointer to push U-advantage M's to 60-50. Michigan basketball faced UNLV in the semifinals of the Roman Main Event late Friday night in Las Vegas in a tough, fast-paced game. A basketball game at 12:30 a.m. ET is absurd yet this was the hand Michigan was given. The first game is against UNLV, who is ranked 128th in the US according to Kenpom. Arizona (No. 28) and Wichita State (No. 67) are on the opposite side of the bracket, with the championship and consolation game taking place on Sunday evening. Michigan might have escaped with a victory over the Pirates despite some awful performance, including 3-of-15 shooting from long, 11 turnovers (the majority of which came in the second half), and 18 fouls (many very poorly timed). These problems eventually caught up with the Wolverines, and it is evident that there are some serious questions at this time. Except for Hunter DickinsonHunter Dickinson and Eli Brooks, almost every player has something to prove this weekend in Vegas. DeVante Jones has showed glimpses of brilliance, but the toughest adjustment may be mental. His expensive turnovers and foolish fouls were the polar opposite of what a club expects from a senior guard. This is still a transition stage for the move, and sometimes experience is the only remedy. Caleb Houstan, who led the team with 39 minutes versus Seton Hall, might be considered to be the same. Howard obviously wants the rookie sensation to iron out the kinks, but it's been difficult to watch so far. So far, Houstan is shooting 38.5 percent from the field and has made several poor long-range shots. However, his greatest challenge has been defensively, as he has been consistently pushed by Pirates wings this week. Growing pains are to be anticipated and must be endured at this time. Highlights of the game To quickly mention Saturday's opponent, UNLV isn't very impressive on either end. The Rebels' defence isn't bad, but the Wolverines should have plenty of chances to get back on track. Brandon Johns and Terrance Williams, both of whom have a lot of promise but have yet to demonstrate regular performance, are two players who have an opportunity to establish themselves. There's probably just one starting place between them, and although Johns hasn't shown himself worthy, Williams hasn't done enough to take it over either. Expect Michigan to lock down on the opposite end of the floor. Seton Hall only scored 0.97 PPP, indicating that the game was really lost on the opposite side of the ball. UNLV enters the game rated 164th in offensive efficiency, in the 200s in two-point percentage, and near the bottom of the field from beyond the three-point line. This is a game where the defence should lead the attack. from new 24 hour Kendall Jenner helps Boyfriend Devin Booker at Basketball game acts about John Madden and In Interview For TV Documentary and what net worth source : freep#instagram #happy #nature #photography #fashion #instadaily #beauty #instalike #fun #friends #me #summer #tbt #cute #beautiful #likeforlike #smile #music #ootd #family #model #follow4follow #lifestyle #design #motivation #beach #sunset #amazing #dog #makeup Read the full article

For the week of 29 January 2018
Quick Bits:
Avengers #678 is more gorgeous artwork from Pepe Larraz and David Curiel. The intrigue and mystery to the story is also being teased out a bit more, just enough internal questions about Voyager and Grandmaster’s opponent to keep you hooked amidst some all out action between the Avengers, Black Order, and Lethal Legion.

Black Crown Quarterly #2 adds some more comic previews, interviews, and various odds & sods to the mix. Rob Davis’ Tales from the Black Crown Pub remains the best thing about the anthology, but the Cüd comic is growing on me. It’s nice to see James Coe’s Bandtwits continue here, it was one segment I was expecting to see spun out to its own comic. Also, House Amok by Christopher Sebela and Shawn McManus is deliciously twisted.

Bonehead #2 puts a lot more meat on the bones of this series. Where the first issue was largely a beautiful showcase for Rhoald Marcellius and Sakti Yuwono’s art, this time Bryan Edward Hill dives into more of the world and what’s going on with “56″. It’s an interesting approach with what amounts to parkour gangs in what looks like an increasingly oppressive society, reminding me somewhat of Mirror’s Edge.

The Despicable Deadpool #293 reinforces the idea that we’re seeing Deadpool’s end of days (the writing on the wall that this arc is called “Bucket List” and we already know this incarnation of his adventures is ending at #300 notwithstanding), as the issue long fight with Rogue underlines Wade’s self-destruction and deliberate alienation of his friends and family.

Eternity #4 brings the latest Divinity story to a close, kind of, as Matt Kindt dives deep into a meta narrative of construction, conception, and delivery of story and ideas. Trevor Hairsine, Ryan Winn, and David Baron also raise the bar with the execution of some of the glorious story ideas presented here.

God Complex: Dogma #4 remakes Seneca, giving us a look deeper into the gods’ technology and adherence to mathematical projections for behaviour as “fate”. It also gives Hendry Prasetya and Sunny Gho a chance to show off again, delivering some beautiful artwork as it shifts between Hephaestus trying to save Seneca within the digital framework and the grit and blood of attempting to save him on the physical plane.

Hack/Slash: Resurrection #4 is messed up. This, of course, is a good thing as Tini Howard continues with the humour of Cassie’s relationship with Laurie and adding an interesting possible wrinkle to series’ mythology.

Hungry Ghosts #1 is the start of an anthology series of food-themed horror stories with the overall narrative being linked through a game of kaidan (some would also know it as kwaidan)--basically a party game wherein participants tell one another ghost stories and then see whether or not they’ve been possessed in a mirror once they’re done--written by Anthony Bourdain and Joel Rose, and illustrated by an assortment of artists.
This first issue sets up the rules, the framing narrative, and a couple of stories. It’s good so far, with art provided by Alberto Ponticelli for the framing narrative and first story, Vanesa Del Rey for the second story, and colours by José Villarrubia. The first story is a kind of traditional cautionary tale of helping others, whereas the second is a kind of humorous horror story of the perils of being a dick.

Jean Grey #11 is an interesting, oversized finale for the series, which sheds a different light on what the Phoenix has been doing to young, time-tossed Jean, even as she goes through more purification by fire at the hands of other past remaining Phoenix hosts. Dennis Hopeless throws out some implications here that I really hope are followed up on in the near future.

Joe Golem: Occult Detective #5 brings to a close both the “Flesh and Blood” arc and this second mini-series. This one has been good, with a nice mystery solved and some of the subplots of Joe’s history and supporting cast advanced. Patric Reynolds’ art is still a real treat, making the sunken NYC a real character in the book in its own right.

KINO #3 spotlights again one of the things that I love about this series; the use of old style comics storytelling as a narrative device itself. I love that within the normal dark, stylistic intrigue of the main narrative, there’s a stylistic shift in both Joe Casey’s scripting and Jefte Palo’s art with Chris Sotomayor’s colours to a simpler superhero style when inside the KINO conditioning programme.

Phoenix Resurrection #5 is the epic conclusion to this series, which, despite some bombast, goes out with some emotional resonance, discussion, and character building rather than the usual superhero battle. It’s a fitting and mature reawakening for the “real” Jean Grey with Matthew Rosenberg giving us another glimpse as to why he should probably be one of the voices guiding the next stage in the X-Men’s evolution. Also, there are some great shots and reveals from the art of Leinil Yu & Gary Alanguilan and Joe Bennett & Belardino Brado, with colours by Rachelle Rosenberg. I know it’s not continuing into X-Men Red, but I particularly like the black and red variant on the Phoenix costume.

Spawn #282 is ostensibly the conclusion to the “Dark Horror” story-arc, that gained this extra chapter somewhere along the way. As the story progressed, its felt like Todd McFarlane has been taking over more of the scripting, steering it more towards more traditional Spawn storytelling, and, although it has felt a bit at odds with the original oblique Japanese horror told through suggestion and conversation, it has still be entertaining. Also, Jason Shawn Alexander’s artwork has remained a beast.

Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #16 sees the crap hit the proverbial fan as Aphra and her team face off against an angry archaeotech trap. The humour hits probably and all time high this issue, as the relationship between Aphra and Tolvan develops further.

Tales of Suspense #101 continues to be one of the best buddy comedy thrillers in comics right now. Matthew Rosenberg’s characterization of Hawkeye and Winter Soldier are hilarious and help propel them through the action and intrigue in the book. Travel Foreman’s art (with colours by Rachelle Rosenberg) also continues to impress with some really nice panel transitions and action sequences.

Underwinter: A Field of Feathers #4 is dark, very dark. As Felix and Rose battle over their kids, something worse happens. Ray Fawkes manages to amplify the horror exponentially.
