IIHF World Junior Championship 2022 Schedule Announced
Hockey Canada and the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) have released the schedule for the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship, which is set to take place Dec. 26, 2022-Jan. 5, 2023 in Moncton and Halifax.
Last month, it was announced that Scotiabank Centre in Halifax will host Group A, featuring Canada, Sweden, Czechia, Germany and Austria. Avenir Centre in Moncton will see the United States, Finland, Switzerland, Slovakia and Latvia compete in Group B.

The 2023 World Juniors will be an unforgettable celebration of hockey across the Maritimes, and we cannot wait to drop the puck on Boxing Day,” said Dean McIntosh, vice-president of events and properties with Hockey Canada. “From the opening-day matchups to the rivalry games on New Year’s Eve, this year’s schedule is extremely competitive and will showcase the best under-20 hockey players in the world in a return to the tournament’s traditional holiday format.
After winning a silver medal at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship, Finland will open the 2023 event against Switzerland in Moncton at 11 a.m. ET/12 p.m. AT on Dec. 26, the first of 20 preliminary-round games split between the two host cities.

IIHF World Junior Championship 2022 Schedule Announced
Hockey Canada and the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), have released the game schedules for the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship. The World Juniors 2022 Live hockey ticket sales for the event, which will take place at Rogers Place in Edmonton, from 9 to 20 Aug 2022, have also begun.

The tournament will begin with a clash between Czechia, Slovakia and Latvia at noon. Next up is Latvia vs Finland (at 16:00 local time) and the USA-Germany night game at 20:00.
The remaining ten teams in the 10-team event will begin on 10 August. The noon game will be played by Sweden and Switzerland, while Canada hosts Canada against Latvia at 16:00. Germany and Austria will then play in a neighboring match at 20:00.
Canada, Finland and Czechia will be playing in Group A. The United States, Sweden and Germany will be competing in Group B. If each group has four teams, the top four will advance to the quarter-finals.
Rogers Place will host all games. There will usually be two to three games per day during this preliminary round, which will conclude on 15 August. Canada will play the third quarter-final match at 17:00, if they are qualified.
On 19 August, the semi-finals will be played. If Canada qualifies, or the team with the highest preliminary-round record otherwise, the host will play in the early semi-final match at 14:00. At 18:00, the second semi-final match will take place. The 20th of August is the date for the medal games.
This will be the first time that all World Juniors games have been held in one location since 1988. Fans will also be present.
Single-game tickets are now available for purchase starting at $40. Packages will still be available.
The 2023 World Junior Championship will not have a relegation round. This means that the same 10 teams will compete in the 2023 World Junior Championship. It will be held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Moncton (New Brunswick) from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5, 2023.
All games will be broadcast on NHL Networkin America andTSN Canada.

CANADA WINS GOLD AT 2022 IIHF WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
Canada's Public Junior Group has won gold on home ice at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Title, bringing down Finland 3-2 in an extra time thrill ride before 13,327 fans.
Kent Johnson (Port Irritable, B.C./Columbus, OHL) was the extra time legend, scoring the brilliant objective on his own bounce back after a behind-the-back pass from Logan Stankoven (Kamloops, B.C./Kamloops, WHL) only 3:20 into the additional casing. The success gives Canada its nineteenth gold decoration and 34th award generally speaking at the World Youngsters.

"I take passes on my strike constantly and I generally attempt to score on the five-opening, yet I had a great deal of time and I had the option to bang home the bounce back," Johnson said. "It was really astonishing extra time period, yet not exactly the circumstance we needed to be in subsequent to going up 2-0. It means everything to us all [to win gold]. It has been an insane two or three months, however everybody needed to win so terrible and I'm glad that we had the option to do it at home."
Joshua Roy (Holy person Georges, Que./Sherbrooke, QMJHL) opened the scoring a little more than 11 minutes into the primary time frame, sticking home a bounce back off a Bricklayer McTavish (Carp, Ont./Hamilton, OHL) shot. William Dufour (Québec, Que./Holy person John, QMJHL) added to Canada's lead, discharging a wrist shot past Finnish goaltender Juha Jatkola 47 seconds into the center casing to make it 2-0.
The Finns eradicated the lead with objectives six minutes separated in the initial 11 minutes of the third time frame, with Aleski Heimosalmi and Joakim Kemell tracking down the rear of the net to compel extra time.
Dylan Garand (Victoria, B.C./Kamloops, WHL) was heavenly in the Canadian objective, making 29 recoveries.

Following the gold decoration game, McTavish was named Most Important Player and Top Forward after driving the competition in objectives (eight) and focuses (17). He additionally completed tied for the lead in helps (nine), and was named to the media top pick group close by defenceman Olen Zellweger (Stronghold Saskatchewan, Alta./Everett, WHL).
"My stick was perfectly located with flawless timing to thump that puck away from our net [in overtime]. Thinking back, I don't know why I was behind [Garand], however I'm blissful it ended up actually working. Next thing I realized I was on the seat and Kent [Johnson] was on a breakaway," McTavish said. "It has been a long excursion to get to this second, and it is so unique to win it with this gathering of folks who set forth such a lot of hard energy since the previous summer. I'm unimaginably glad to be Canadian."
"This gathering promised to be here, and we conquered some misfortune with players not returning and managing wounds. These folks stayed with it, we realized it would have been extreme and I have a ton of deference for every one of our players and staff," said lead trainer Dave Cameron (Kinkora, P.E.I./Ottawa, OHL). "This gold decoration feels truly extraordinary. The air this evening was unimaginable, and I am so appreciative to the fans that upheld us. I feel like we had the option to remunerate them with this evening's success."
Canada completed the primer round on Gathering A with an ideal 4-0 record after prevails upon Latvia (5-2), Slovakia (11-1), Czechia (5-1) and Finland (6-3). It booked a spot in the gold decoration game with a 6-3 win against Switzerland in the quarterfinals and a 5-2 win over Czechia in the elimination rounds.
Beginning around 1977, Canada has gathered 19 gold awards at the IIHF World Junior Title, to oblige 10 silver and five bronze.
