IIHF World Junior Championship 2022 Schedule Announced

Hockey Canada and the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), have released the game schedules for the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship. The World Juniors 2022 Live hockey ticket sales for the event, which will take place at Rogers Place in Edmonton, from 9 to 20 Aug 2022, have also begun.

The tournament will begin with a clash between Czechia, Slovakia and Latvia at noon. Next up is Latvia vs Finland (at 16:00 local time) and the USA-Germany night game at 20:00.

The remaining ten teams in the 10-team event will begin on 10 August. The noon game will be played by Sweden and Switzerland, while Canada hosts Canada against Latvia at 16:00. Germany and Austria will then play in a neighboring match at 20:00.

Canada, Finland and Czechia will be playing in Group A. The United States, Sweden and Germany will be competing in Group B. If each group has four teams, the top four will advance to the quarter-finals.

Rogers Place will host all games. There will usually be two to three games per day during this preliminary round, which will conclude on 15 August. Canada will play the third quarter-final match at 17:00, if they are qualified.

On 19 August, the semi-finals will be played. If Canada qualifies, or the team with the highest preliminary-round record otherwise, the host will play in the early semi-final match at 14:00. At 18:00, the second semi-final match will take place. The 20th of August is the date for the medal games.

This will be the first time that all World Juniors games have been held in one location since 1988. Fans will also be present.

Single-game tickets are now available for purchase starting at $40. Packages will still be available.

The 2023 World Junior Championship will not have a relegation round. This means that the same 10 teams will compete in the 2023 World Junior Championship. It will be held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Moncton (New Brunswick) from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5, 2023.

All games will be broadcast on NHL Networkin America andTSN Canada.

Last month, it was announced that Scotiabank Centre in Halifax will host Group A, featuring Canada, Sweden, Czechia, Germany and Austria. Avenir Centre in Moncton will see the United States, Finland, Switzerland, Slovakia and Latvia compete in Group B.

CANADA WINS GOLD AT 2022 IIHF WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP

Canada's Public Junior Group has won gold on home ice at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Title, bringing down Finland 3-2 in an extra time thrill ride before 13,327 fans.

Kent Johnson (Port Irritable, B.C./Columbus, OHL) was the extra time legend, scoring the brilliant objective on his own bounce back after a behind-the-back pass from Logan Stankoven (Kamloops, B.C./Kamloops, WHL) only 3:20 into the additional casing. You and Neymar were sprawled across your bed, mindlessly scrolling through your phones, cuddled next to one another. It was a lazy Sunday in Paris.

Peaceful, yet content.

This peace was quickly interrupted by the incessant beeping of the oven. 

You sat up, preparing to get out of bed, "The Feijoada's done." 

Neymar gently pushed you down, "You stay here amor. I'll get it." 

You shot him a grateful look, laying back down. 

"Where was that email I needed?" Desperately searching for a work related email you needed tomorrow. 

You then remembered you'd dmed it to your friend on Instagram.

"Where the hell is it?" You groaned in frustration while you swiftly scrolled through your instagram.

"Y/N, amore! It's ready." Neymar called to you, heading back towards the direction of your bedroom.

Oh screw it. You'd check later tomorrow.

Neymar stood leaning against the doorway, running a hand through his messy hair. 

You thought he looked so so good. 

You decided to quickly check any updates on your Instagram timeline and raised an eyebrow in delight when you saw the PSG account had posted a picture of Sergio Ramos, who'd been your celebrity crush as a teenager.

"Sergio Ramos is so fine." You muttered, before throwing your phone on the bed and getting up to move towards Neymar.

What you didn't expect was to almost see Neymar's ears perk up in alarm at your words.

"Who?" Neymar asked you with curiosity in his eyes. 

"Sergio Ramos. His new haircut makes him look so good." You gushed.

"Well what about my new haircut?" He inquired, folding his arms and pouting.

You laughed. It was so obvious he was jealous. Why not playing along with it? 

"Your hair is forever changing. It's hard to appreciate it when you have a new look each month." You giggled.

"They all look better than Ramos's." He uttered with disgust, rolling the r with extra emphasis. 

You shot him a challenging look, "Even those fake blonde dreads a few years ago?" 

That was before you two had began dating, but you never let him live that poor style choice down. 

Neymar shot you a snarky look. Jealousy was oozing out of him.

"Ramos isn't even that good. Do you know how many times he's been red carded?" He brought up, trying to make a point. 

"28." You smirked at him.

Neymar huffed in annoyance. He was trying to make a point but it just pissed him off that you knew that fact about Ramos.

"Regardless, he's a dirty player." 

"And you're a flopper." You countered.

 "Am not!" He protested.

"Are too!" You stuck your tongue out at him.

Then there was silence for a moment, a bit awkward to say the least. 

"Do you think Ramos is more attractive than me?" Neymar wondered aloud quietly.

You felt bad. You'd hit a nerve. Even though Neymar was virtually the most sought after player in the world, he got insecure and jealous very easily. 

You gingerly moved over to him, wrapping your arms around his shoulders, his instinctively finding their way to your waist. You rested your head on his chest. 

"I'm sorry." You mumbled.

"It's my fault amor. I get jealous too easily." He admitted.

You raised your head from his chest to meet his eyes. They were swirling with emotion, love, and passion.

"Well. Jealous or not, you'll always be the most beautiful man in my eyes." You smiled, pecking him on the lips. 

A smile found its way to Neymar's lips as he leaned his forehead against yours.

"Behind Davi that is." You finished.

Neymar laughed, "That's an L I'm willing to take."

Days later, at PSG vs Lille, you were in the crowd, sitting front and center to support him. When he single handedly dribbled through the box and landed the ball at the back of the net with his signature moves, you had eyes for him and him only. 

"Wonder which celebration he'll do this time." Antonela teased from behind you. 

"Hopefully it's the Parado No Bailao one." You laughed, looking back to her. 

"I'd look straight ahead if I were you." Antonela advised.

You did as told and was shocked to see what was happening. Neymar and the rest of his teammates had run towards you to celebrate.

He'd pointed right at you, made a heart with his gloved hands, and blew you a kiss.

And very quickly, there was no other man on the field other than Neymar Jr in your eyes.

IIHF World Junior Championship 2022 to be played in August

After being postponed in December because of COVID-19 concerns, the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championships will be held this summer.

“It will take place in the middle August in Alberta (Canada),” IIHF President Luc Tardif stated Thursday at the 2022 Beijing Olympics. “It will not be the same competition as in December, so we won’t know what happened.”

After four days of play, the tournament for players younger than 20 started in Edmonton and Red Deer (Alberta) on Dec 26th. However, it was cancelled after Russia, Czechia, and the United States each forfeited a preliminary round game after their players tested positive for COVID-19.

Tardif stated that the 2022 WJC could have the same rosters as December’s, regardless of whether the players turn 20 prior to the new tournament.

Tardif stated that they are in talks with all parties and are working out details. It will take place after the Hlinka Gretzky Cup. It will be a hockey festival, and the teams are eager to participate.“

The 2022 Hlinka Gruetzky Cup for players under 18 is set for the first week of August in Edmonton and Red Deer.

The top five NHL Draft picks in 2021 would be eligible to play if the rosters are unchanged. Owen Power, the No. 1 defenseman, was selected by the Buffalo Sabres. 1 by the Buffalo Sabres and forwards Mason McTavish selected No. 3 by the Anaheim Ducks and Kent Johnson, who were selected No. 5 were included by the Columbus Blue Jackets on the Canada roster at the beginning of the tournament in December.

Matty Beniers, forward, was the No. The Seattle Kraken selected Matty Beniers as the No. 2 pick, while Luke Hughes, the No. 3 pick, was chosen by the defenseman. 4 were selected by the New Jersey Devils and were placed on the United States roster.

Aftermath over sexual maltreatment claims proceed, bunch calls for prohibition on non-divulgence arrangement

There's developing concern the Global Ice Hockey League's Reality Junior Title set for Halifax and Moncton in the not so distant future could be in a touchy situation.

Hockey Canada, the game's public administering body, is feeling the squeeze to make administration changes in the midst of its treatment of sexual maltreatment claims. Hockey Canada assumes a significant part in putting together the world youngsters.

In a joint explanation from Halifax City hall leader Mike Savage and Moncton Chairman First light Arnold on Friday, the chairmen said while they're energized for the competition "… we are profoundly worried about Hockey Canada's absence of judgment and incredible skill."

The assertion proceeds to say they are searching for "significant changes inside Hockey Canada preceding the World Junior Title occurring in our urban communities." The city hall leaders said "responsibility is vital" and that the eventual fate of the competition would be examined with "chamber associates and common facilitating accomplices."

New Brunswick considers cutting ties with world junior hockey championship

Earlier Friday, New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs said his province is considering cutting ties with the event. Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston said Thursday before the championships go forward "we need to see some meaningful changes that respect the concerns of Nova Scotians and Canadians."

Both Hockey New Brunswick and Hockey Nova Scotia announced this week they will not pay Hockey Canada its usual $3 per player assessment fee.

Hockey Nova Scotia said it "lost confidence in Hockey Canada's senior leadership." No one from Hockey Nova Scotia was available for an interview Friday.

The Halifax Hawks Minor Hockey Association supported the move.

"We're really, really grateful and we think it's hugely positive Hockey Nova Scotia have stepped up and taken the action," said Hawks president Craig Robinson.
