Globally, an estimated 38 million people live with the virus. More than 35 million people have died of #HIV or #AIDS related illnesses over the past 40 years, making it one of the most destructive pandemics in history.

According to the World Health Organization, "The world can end AIDS with communities leading the way. That is why the theme for World AIDS Day this year is ‘Let communities lead’, and much more than a celebration of the achievements of #communities, it is a call to action to enable and support communities in their #leadership roles. On World AIDS Day 2023, WHO celebrates and recognizes the invaluable contributions of communities in leading the response to HIV."

In line with the theme of this year's World AIDS Day, we at École de Langue Française d'Afrique being a part of the global languages #community hold strongly to the belief that #language learning is highly relevant to World AIDS Day due to its potential to raise #awareness and promote #education. By incorporating HIV/AIDS-related content into language learning materials, learners can gain a deeper understanding of the global impact of the disease. This can help foster empathy, encourage social responsibility, and contribute to the overall well-being of individuals and communities.

Moreover, language learning platforms can #collaborate with organizations working in the field of HIV/AIDS to provide accurate and up-to-date information, ensuring that learners receive reliable resources.
