"Hello, I mostly go by Siew and I'm currently an Analytics Consultant at the Axiata Analytics Centre. My role is both a business and a technical one where I am a project manager helping my clients to shape their data driven strategy and concurrently, I am also a data analyst providing basic data analysis in the area of audit & fraud. I am currently still developing my skills & knowledge in data analytics – through mastering statistical programming languages, data integration tools and visualization tools. I still see myself as a student where every day, there is something new to be learnt. My long-term ambition is to venture into international development and be able to apply & enhance the use of data analytics in development, to ensure that data-driven decisions are used in policy-making and on-ground implementation. My biggest achievement to date is probably also my most recent one - that is my team won the Axiata YCDP Regional Business Challenge and I was fortunately also awarded to be the Most Promising Young CEO for Cohort 2. My most recent achievement was no doubt also one of the most challenging situations that I was in. Managing a team of 21 people was a challenge by itself and this was compounded by the fact that our task is to develop a go-to-market strategy for an industry and a country that we have no prior experience in. Not to mention, I was on a rotation abroad in Cambodia and rest of the team was all over Malaysia! Our winning edge is that we managed to rally 21 people to work together seamlessly and tirelessly for the same goal, teaching us the hard lessons of patience and grit. The challenge which lasted 2.5 months was definitely too short for a go-to-market strategy but can be a long arduous period for those of us who have an actual job. Pulling through till the very end was what made us champions I believe. I don't think I can say that I'm representing the women in Malaysia. Basically, because I don't think women need someone to represent us in a symbolic way - we are each an unique individual standing for what we believe in. I think each woman should believe that they can, they are, and they will be able to be more than capable, in any scenario, to stand up for what they believe in, on their own two feet. Women's right is not about protecting us because we are weaker. Women's right is about making an uneven playing field fair because that is justice that each human being deserves. You can, you are, and you will be able to be more than capable, in any scenario, to stand up for what you believe in, on your own two feet. I love tumblr. I could easily share whatever links that I like on the internet. I can also blog like other bloggers; put up photos, upload videos and there's even a function to quote someone. It has been a while since I created an original entry.

Not that you guys care, but I have been testing my marketing skills over the past few months. I volunteered for MMU Career Fair 2012. FYI, it will be

I'm in the publicity division. I'm in charged of helping the division to run a campaign to publicize the event. We only started planning 3 weeks prior to the booth promotion date. My UAE friend, Omar is in charged of creating an online game to attract more people to like our Facebook page. I saw this opportunity to actually work together with him. After a few minutes of brainstorming and discussion, we finally decided that we'll organize a sketching contest at the booth. We'll upload the sketches on our Facebook page the week after and lets the participants gather as many votes possible to win an Olympus Digital Camera. :D By this way, we will channel users to our Facebook page and will surely increase the page's popularity. We are hoping to build up as many promotion as we could to make sure that this year's MMU Career Fair will be the biggest by far.

Having the contacts to just easily setup a booth at the Central Plaza, I imagined myself as the French conquerer; Napoleon Bonaparte. Basically what I imagined I did was; I came, I saw, I conquer. :p

We owned the place for three days. With unlimited sponsor of Pomegranate drinks and some not bad prizes for lucky draw, we managed to garner more than 400 likes in 3 days. It is a-maze-ing! :D Now I see why a brand should invest more on marketing to reach out to the people.

The contest is about to start. Make you like our page and vote for the best sketch to win the digital camera!

I also volunteered for UPG's Youth Career Development Program 2012 under the Multimedia and Promotion division. I'm not really a multimedia geeky, but when is the better time to learn heh? At least I know how joomla cms works, I get to practice my photoshopping skills and etc.

The program is scheduled to be held on the 30th March until 1st April 2012 at Residence Hotel, UNITEN Bangi. The website is almost ready. Click the image below to visit.

This is going to be a big event. It will be a gathering and networking opportunity of 300 selected students nationwide. We are also working hard to get the best speakers from the best companies to attend this program and equally benefit all the students, committees and the firms. We are collaborating with PRS UNITEN to ensure a successful 3 days program. I am looking forward to start campaigning for YCDP 2012.
