Updates This Week
Okay I have to admit to myself that I'm not where I want to be when it comes to the next chapters completed, and I have a little bit of a summer head cold that I've been fighting the last couple of days, so I have to make a decision as far as this weeks updates go…this is what I'm going to do.
You're Trying to Save Me Chapter 9 is done, I need to do an edit read, but I will be able to post tomorrow so it will be on time.
Bad Habits Chapter 21 is about half way done. I am working today, have to work the whole day (no getting off early) due to it being Saturday and the US has a holiday on Monday so I will most likely be busy going into the weekend. I am going to work hard to see if I can finish it up tomorrow, but so I don't stress myself out, we're probably looking for a Monday update, so it will be a little late.
That's The Way It Is Chapter 4 has been outlined and I have one scene written. When I started posting, I had posted that it would be the back burner story and I would prioritize the other two. I am going to be working on Chapter 4, so I will get an update up probably some time this week so that it gets an update before I take my month long break…
I really appreciate everyone's support and I feel bad I'm not able to keep to my usual schedule. I think I'm taking on a bit much so that's part of the reason I'm taking June off…to recoup. I will still be writing during that time. I'm hoping to at least get a couple chapters done so I have cushion again…I will still be hanging out here when I'm writing and I will keep you all in the loop. Thank you for your patience and look forward to the updates this week…

Preview Chapter 8 - You're Trying To Save Me
Preview for Chapter 8 of You're Trying to Save Me. Family Dynamics are complicated and Jin Ling still is not a fan of Wei Wuxian for now.
The boy shouted in outrage for a moment as Wei Wuxian dragged him into the ally between the buildings. As soon as he let go, Jin Ling made a move to get away from him, nearly pulling out his sword in anger as he caught sight of Wei Wuxian.
“What are you doing here?” He hissed, his tone as indignant as it usually was.
“I’m here representing the Lan Clan. We’re still investigating the events at Dafun Mountain. I could ask you the same thing.”
“I came with my Uncle. Father thought it would be good for me to learn some of the politics between Clans, and even though he’s not a fan of his half-brother, he’s good at what he does,” Jin Ling huffed. “We’re here by invitation from the Nie Clan Head to participate in trade negotiations.”
Wei Wuxian knew it had to be Jin Guangyao that was here with Jin Ling. He wasn’t a big fan of the man and felt the man was far more manipulative than he appeared. The man may seem to be a benevolent leader, looking out for the common folk, but deep down Wei Wuxian could tell the man wasn’t what he seemed. The rumored fracture in the Jin Clan proved just how much power Jin Guangyao held with his followers. Still, he questioned how the Peacock or his Shijie would let their son come along with the man. He’d have to have a talk with Jiang Yanli at a later date to get some insight.
“You have some strong opinions about my cultivation. Have your parents ever told you the story of how I started on this path.”
“Yes,” Jin Ling scoffed, keeping up his defiant attitude. “You lost your core during the campaign and sought to manipulate resentment to take your revenge. It’s not exactly something you should be proud of. Falling from being the lead disciple of the Jiang Clan and then to become spouse of the Lan Clan’s second master to someone who can’t even cultivate any longer. Really it’s only because Lan Wangji is skilled that you’re even allowed to involve yourselves in the affairs of the other clans.”
Wei Wuxian frowned. Some of that was true, but most of it was ugly conjecture and rumors. True he had fallen as a cultivator, but he was still worthy regardless of what Jin Ling said. He was back because he earned his place, his right to be a part of the cultivation world with his sacrifices.
“I have no respect for your brand of cultivation. I don’t care what the others say. You aren’t worthy of being the spouse of the Lan Clan and mmph…”
Wei Wuxian felt the energy, was familiar with the silent spell of the Lan Clan and from the look on Jin Ling’s face, he was not.
“Young Master Jin, you will treat my spouse and your Uncle with the respect he is due. Regardless of your personal opinions based on baseless rumors, he is the Lan Furen until my brother takes a spouse and produces an heir. He is your Mother’s martial brother, trained from her clan and worked to distinguish himself as a cultivator of great renown. Even though his core was lost, his contributions to the Sunshot Campaign, including bringing Wen Ruohan’s terror to an end have earned him his place. You may not like him, but you will give him the respect he has rightly earned through his own work and accomplishments. If you continue with this, I will send word to your parents. I am certain they will be ashamed by your words and actions.”
Between the spell and Lan Wangji’s harsh words, Jin Ling hung his head. His face was red, eyes downcast. It seemed to take some of the usual bluster from him.
“I will remove the spell if you are willing to genuinely apologize to Wei Wuxian.”
There was a vigorous nodding of Jin Ling’s head, clearly willing to do anything to have the silent spell removed. It would wear of in time, but it would be uncomfortable while it remained. As soon as the spell was released, the teen took in large gulps of air, flustered after his attempt to try to break it. It took a moment for him to face Wei Wuxian, not meeting his eyes.
Instead of the apology they were both expecting, Jin Ling brought his fingers to his lips, letting off a high pitched whistle. Confused by the gesture, Wei Wuxian turned to glance at his husband when a sound had him freeze in his tracks. Immediately he bolted, running behind his husband, jumping up on his back in panic. A dog came around the corner, barking as he approached with the vigor of a young pup defending his master. Clearly Jin Ling had been told about the one thing Wei Wuxian was afraid of.
The dog froze in it’s pursuit when Lan Wangji glared at it and Wei Wuxian knew it was a glare. His husband could be quite frosty if motivated and he was more protective of Wei Wuxian than anyone else. The dog moved to cower a bit behind Jin Ling as the teen laughed at the sight of Wei Wuxian trying to climb Lan Wangji to get away from the dog.
“If the others could see you now…scared of a dog. I’ll apologize to you when I’m actually sorry,” he said as he gave a cheeky salute, clearly mocking them. “Come Fairy, let’s get out of here.”
Jin Ling didn’t linger. Taking off in a run towards the forest. Wei Wuxian refused to look, burying his head in his mate’s back, trying to stop his body from shaking.
“Wei Ying, the dog is gone. Jin Ling took it away. It is all right.”
“I really hate dogs. Why does he have to have a dog, Lan Zhan,” Wei Wuxian whined in a mix of petulance and as a deflection of his fear.

No Previews This Week
Probably won't be posting previews this week. It's been super busy at work and I've been a little drained...being an introvert in a very active sales role gets me sometimes, though I am taking appropriate breaks and recharging so no worries there. I'm planning on having the next chapter of You're Trying To Save Me done today...I've got about 2 scenes left to write...I'm already over 8,000 words on this one so it's long by my standards though it should be a good update for Sunday. I've got the next two chapters planned out in more detail so at least I have my game plan for this story. As for Bad Habits, I do have the next chapter planned and started, but I've been more focused on the other story as it's more challenging for me to work on (in my opinion anyway), but I will have some good stuff on that front for Sunday. Weather supposed to be bad here on Wednesday which is my next day off so I will be sitting down and getting the rest of it done. I will be hanging out on my Discord for the rest of the day...you can find the link to it in the notes at the bottom of my stories if you wanna come hang out and chat!

You're Trying to Save Me - Chapter 2 Preview
Working on Chapter 2...we have a mission...should sound a little familiar, but we have a living Wei Wuxian...wonder how this is gonna go.... “Wangji,” Lan Xichen started, gaining his brother’s attention. “I will be sending some of our disciples out on a mission and I would like you to accompany them as backup. There have been reports of death within the territory run by the Mo Family. While I don’t think it will evolve into something the disciples can’t handle, I have been hearing some rumors that are leading me to take precautions. I would like a senior disciple to be in the area. Unfortunately, we are stretched a bit thin and since you aren’t currently taking on any responsibilities, it is my hope that you’ll go just in case there is any trouble.”
“What kind of rumors?” Lan Wangji asked, but Lan Xichen turned to look at their Uncle.
“There have been news reports of a rogue cultivator in the area. Reports indicate that the village considers him a madman who uses resentment in their cultivation,” Lan Qiren hesitated, and rightfully when golden eyes coolly landed on him.
Ever since Wei Wuxian had been established as the primary user of resentment and ‘demonic’ cultivation, there had been those who tried to follow in his footsteps. Usually they were young and misled. Wei Wuxian had put the fear of that power into those who crossed his past. While most fled back to practice cultivation as they should, overwhelmed by what it actually took and the toll on the body and core to maintain it. Still there were a few fanatics who were fueled by the displays of power. They could be dealing with one of them.
“How accurate are these reports?” Lan Wangji probed, wanting more details, if possible.
“They are limited,” Lan Xichen replied. “Apparently the man is said to be a member of the Mo Family, distant, but related by blood. The family refuses to confirm or deny the reports, but there has been some evidence that would lead us to believe that this person exists at the very least. While our scouts have not seen him, those from Lanling have reported witnessing some of his tirades.”
Lan Wangji knew his clan didn’t rely on gossip. They were staunchly against spreading falseness and rumors, so it seemed as though his brother and Uncle had received enough evidence to at least warrant an additional investigation. Still, he didn’t like that it was scouts from the Jin Clan they were relying on.
“I will go, but if we are dealing with someone who can harness resentment, it would be best if Wei Ying goes with me. He is the only person who can properly handle resentment in a proper manor,” he paused when he saw his brother and Uncle exchange a look.
