#Yu-Gi-Oh Monthly Random Pairing Challenge

I have an idea but I have no idea how much traffic it is going to get.

So, those of you that know me and know of my works in the Yu-Gi-Oh fandom know that I love rare pairings. It's why I have things like my Hatshipping series and several other stories with rarely seen/unexplored pairings.

And, as a multi-shipper with a love for rare pairings, I really want to read more. I'd love to read some really crazy shit and I know plenty of other people who would love it, too.

So, the idea I'm proposing is a monthly random pairing challenge hosted by yours truly.

I just recently refreshed my hat filled with character names, and I've even come up with a list of 20 ships where the characters in the pairings were chosen completely at random.

I want to start tomorrow, October 1, 2020. I'm going to draw a number (1-20) to pick a pairing and then assign myself a theme to help my oneshot/drabble along.

If anyone else is interested in this challenge, I will be making an official post tomorrow for it, too. I just wanted to get some tendrils out there first to see if anyone else would be interested in participating.

“Do… do I know you?” he asked the man, tall and thin and looming over him.

A slow blink of those haunting eyes, and endlessly long platinum blue hair danced in the breeze. “Do you?” the stranger asked, his voice smooth and sibilant and fluid, slithering into Otogi’s ears and coiling around his brainstem.

Otogi blinked again, confused, his question already forgotten in the face of those long lashes and sharp but elegant features.

“I think you dropped this,” the man said, and then paper was brushing his fingers again.

He reflexively grabbed and looked down. His brows furrowed. He didn’t recall dropping the flyer, but apparently, he had.

His lips parted, and he looked back up.

But the man was gone.

October 2020 Yu-Gi-Oh Random Pairing Challenge

Hello! Welcome to the first monthly Yu-Gi-Oh Random Pairing Challenge, where the pairs are rare and canon relevance doesn't matter!

Here I have a list of 20 random pairings. By random, I mean the character names were literally drawn from a hat to make them.

You can pick any pairing you'd like, or, if you are indecisive like me, you can ask me and I will randomly assign you a number from 1 to 20. And if you don't like that one, that's okay! Any participation whatsoever would be absolutely lovely. Some characters are selected from the first iteration commonly referred to as "Season 0." Some of the characters are "filler characters" from non-canon segments of the anime. If you don't like these characters, feel free to disregard the pairings that include them.

Below that is a list of 5 themes that my dorky IRL friends helped me brainstorm. These are simply an aid for you if you need some direction. Feel free to disregard them if they don't meet your fancy. Again, if you want to use one but don't know what one you want, just contact me and I will randomly assign you one.

And, last but not least, however you decide to express the pairing of your choice is completely up to you! Drabbles, oneshots, multi-chapter fics, fan art, any sort of creative expression would be appreciated beyond belief.
