DUƎ⅃ Identity #1
Tumblr media
DUƎ⅃ Identity #1 Absolute Comics Group 2020 Written by Elaine Lee Illustrated by Jon Lam Coloured by Candice Han Lettered by Zach Matheny    Artemis is the world's greatest secret asset. She's a spy, assassin and superhuman secret agent all rolled into one - until her cover is blown! Now she must adopt a public persona as the world's first superheroine, Andromeda. Can this trained killer pretend to be something she's not?    It is kind of funny to see how things work out and start to make even more sense the more of these titles that you read.  While Artemis did show up in the latest issue of White Widow here we get to see the back story a bit more and learn who she is and whom she works for.  There is something nice that all of them are standalone titles that form a shared universe which allows for extra exposure.  It is being handled extremely well and I have some massive kudos for that as it isn’t easy to create a shared universe.  On top of that to have something like the Pandemic come along so that all your issues come out on the same day I have to say this may be one of the best of reading comics I have ever had.    I really am enjoying the way that this is being told.  The story & plot development we see through how the sequence of events unfold as well as how the reader learns information is laid really rather nicely.  I like how the story opens with Artemis narration telling us about where she is and where she’s going.  Once we begin the interaction with the other characters that slows down and it’s a good tactic for us to see information that is gleaned.  While some things are mentioned it’s a checklist for what we’ll see down the road while other aspects are just interesting enough to keep us guessing.  The character development is fantastic and even though Mother is a man and Father a woman it all makes sense in this weird kind of way.  Though I do think it reminds of Mother from Alien!  The pacing is nice, bit choppy in places but overall how it takes us through the pages revealing the twists and turns along the way is nice to see.  There are moments I get a little confused about Seth and Paris but I will get over that as the books structure and ebb & flow are quite solid.    I hate to assume but this to my eye looks like computer generated graphics.  I think the pixelation effect we see so that she is unidentifiable is extremely well utilised here.  I have a tad more critical eye so the little things jump out at me but again it can be written off as she can alter her appearance rather get the face the same throughout the entire book.  Oh and please don’t rely upon hair tricks to cover part of the face as it just doesn’t look and feel right.  The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show a solid eye for storytelling.  I do like the way we see backgrounds being utilised here.  That we see such nice depth perception, a sense of scale and the overall sense of size and scope to the story is well rendered with them.  Love the colour work we see.  I am waiting for that yellow line to disappear when she uses her camouflage abilities because that is going to be amazing to see without it, there is something about that imagery in my head already that I cannot wait to see play out.  Also it's a nice touch utilising other spectrums of vision and the infrared is gorgeous!     I like this is a solid book and figures to be a cornerstone of this shared universe.  I’m not sure what this whole thing with Seth is all about so I have wait to see that so the fact that I want to means that the writing and the layers within the story are strong and keeps the reader wanting to come back time and again.

OVAC Boys Finals Set for Saturday
The times is now for the final 10, time to put forth another valiant effort in hopes of achieving conference and class supremacy.  The OVAC Basketball Championships begin Saturday at Ohio University Eastern with the 4A title game and continue through the evening. In 3A and 1A, a new champion will be crowned.  The other three classes see returning victors yearning to extend growing championship streaks. The lineup is thus: 4A at 10 a.m., 5A at noon, 1A at 2 p.m., 2A at 4 and 3A at 6. A single ticket purchase provides fans all-day entry to witness some of the finest basketball the valley has to offer. All games will be broadcast on The Watchdog, 98.1 FM WKKX and 97.7 FM WVLY. Take the 5A title game. While Morgantown and University aren’t valley teams, per se, they are some of the OVAC’s best and happen to be ranked No. 2 and No. 1, respectively, in the state. This will be a rubber match as the two split earlier games this season. Morgantown, coached by the son of longtime Magnolia coach Dave Tallman, will look to snap the Hawks 3-year win streak in the 5A finals. Speaking of streaks, the day’s first contest will feature OVAC outgoing member Meadowbrook looking to place it’s stamp on its final conference season with a five-peat.  The Colts will face East Liverpool, a former big-school power looking to recapture past glories. Few teams have been as dominant this decade as Wheeling Central, winners of six of the last seven 2A crowns. The only break came in 2018 when the Knights were busy winning the 3A championship. They will face off against Shadyside, a team they’ve beaten twice this season. If the 3A title game seems familiar, it’s because the exact same schools faced off last weekend in the girls’ 3A game. Union Local is the hottest team in the OVAC, winners of 13 out of its last 14. They face a balanced, talented and unselfish Cadets team that is looking for its first title since 2014. Finally, in 1A, Madonna was the lone road team to win Tuesday, knocking off two-seeded Hundred 63-60. They will face a Frontier team which hasn’t won a conference crown since 2004.

No. 2 University vs. No. 1 Morgantown Monongalia firepower was on full display Tuesday. University torched Wheeling Park 108-69, scoring the most points ever against a Patriots’ team. This came after two competitive games earlier this season. Bowling Green signee Kaden Matheny finished with 29 points, including 15 in the first quarter as the Hawks built an insurmountable lead early. Park coach Michael Jebbia referred to Matheny as the best point guard he’s seen in West Virginia in 20 years.  That’s high praise from the Park and West Liberty all-time great. Matheny wasn’t alone as University placed five players in double figures, including 24 from K.J. McClurg. While University’s hot shooting put away Park early, across town, the Mohigans’ suffocating man defense was rendering Weir’s offensive output nearly non-existent. Morgantown held the Red Riders to single digits in all four quarters, including a 27-2 score after the first quarter. Alex Rudy’s 17 points led four double-digit scorers. The state’s top-two teams are primed to put on an impressive show at high noon at Ohio University Eastern.

No. 2 East Liverpool vs. No. 1 Meadowbrook Prior to Tuesday’s semifinal, East Liverpool suffered a disappointing upset to cross-river rival Oak Glen.  The result had Nate Conley’s Potters (14-4) playing with a chip on their shoulder when Martins Ferry came calling Tuesday in the semis. Behind 31 points from Tesean Jackson, Liverpool sent the Riders packing 80-41.  This is the second time during Conley’s 10-year stint the Potters have made the finals. They face a Meadowbrook team that is fresh off a big win against Harrison Central. The Colts took a committee approach in dealing with Huskies’ scoring machine Kobe Mitchell, choosing to focus more on his teammates.  So, while Mitchell had 30 points, the rest of his team accounted for 43 in a 70-43 loss. Jonathan McCall and Davis Singleton led Meadowbrook with 15 and 13 points, respectively. Will the Colts take the same approach with Jackson?
Tumblr media
Class AAA
No. 2 Fort Frye vs. No. 1 Union Local This has the potential to be the best game of the day. These two teams that like to play fast with capable shooters, and this game features one of the valley’s top outside sharpshooters in UL’s Luke Merritt. Merritt had a school-record 79 triples and averages 19.9 points per game. He’s the straw stirring the drink, but his teammates are no slouches. Andrew Martin, Nathan Meyer and Zach Bateman average between 8.5 and 10.2 per game and are capable of catching fire should Merritt draw extra attention. The Cadets are equally difficult to defend. Their 15-3 record and 58 points per game average are impressive.  A more telling stat is despite that number, Fort Frye’s leading scorer, Zane Wallace, scores only 12.8 points per game.  Brady Schilling (12.4) and Kelton Fogle (12.1) are close behind. The Cadets distribute the ball well and have multiple ways to hurt an opponent offensively.

Class AA
No. 2 Shadyside vs. No. 1 Wheeling Central This was the 2A final most were expecting. The road for both teams was far from easy. Both Shadyside’s battle with Southern Local and Wheeling Central’s close call against a game Clay-Battelle outfit provided stern tests in preparation for the finale. Central has won the previous two meetings this season, with 6-5 post Clayton Abate erupting for 19 points and 22 points as the Knights made concentrated effort to attack the paint. It paid off in a 75-58 win. The Knights have a host of offensive options, including Ryan Reasbeck, J.C. Maxwell, Jalen Creighton and Avery Lee, who caught fire for 32 against the Cee-Bees. Shadyside is led by recently crowned all-time leading scorer Kelly Hendershot’s 18.3 points per game. Korey Beckett provides the deep threat with 57 triples and a 14.3 average while Bryce Amos and Tyler Parr both average 10.9. Central no doubt will have a different plan of attack, but if anyone can find a scheme to counter, it’s Tigers coach Ed Andes.

Class A
No. 3 Madonna vs. No. 1 Frontier The top-ranked Cougars haven’t won a title since the early 2000s and the days when Anthony Mossburg was the top athlete in the school. The current version of Frontier basketball is led by Logan Brookover’s 20.6 points per game and the double-double machine that is Kyle Daugherty (14 points and 13 rebound average). Lucky Pulice led Madonna’s upset of No. 2 Hundred with 18 points as the Blue Dons pulled it off after the lengthy trip into the depths of Wetzel County. Evan Boniti added 15 and Brennan Secrist totaled 14 for Madonna.  Read the full article

Guest Post: 2018 AL Wild Card Game Umpire Review
Regardless of inning, Zach Britton should face the middle of the A’s lineup in the Wild Card Game
The following is a guest post from Adam Seth Moss, who’s written tons of guest posts over the years.
Wolf. (Bob Levey/Getty)
The American League Wild Card Game is here again and so is the posting of the umpire review. This is sometimes an exercise in futility given there is only one umpire whose strike zone we have to focus on, but given the fact that umpires in the Wild Card Game are likely to appear later in the postseason, it will be useful anyway. So, without further ado, here are the six umpires that will be officiating the game between Oakland and New York.
Jim Wolf – No. 28 (HP)
The older brother of former journeyman pitcher Randy Wolf, the 48-year-old Jim Wolf is our home plate umpire for the game. Jim Wolf’s strike zone is the definition of a hitters’ umpire. The statistical analysis of his strike zone backs it up. In 32 games behind the plate, Wolf’s ERA is 4.48, tied with Todd Tichenor for 14th highest in baseball this season. The strike zone Wolf has leads to 9.1 hits per 9 innings, 3.3 walks per 9 innings and 8.3 strikeouts per 9 innings. The 8.3 is extremely low for most umpires. (There are lower, such as Tom Woodring with 8.1 and Ben May with 8.0.) Batters have a .262/.331/.422 batting line with Wolf behind the plate and those numbers match a hitters ump.
Wolf, a native of West Hills, California, made his MLB debut on September 2, 1999 working as part of a National League crew featuring Phil Cuzzi, Alfonso Marquez, and Brian Gorman. Wolf umpired a game at 3rd base between the San Francisco Giants and the Philadelphia Phillies at one of the last games at Candlestick Park for baseball. Wolf has something unusual: no ejections this season. In fact, he has never ejected a Yankee. If there is a rare heave ho in a Wild Card, the Yankees are not getting it from Wolf.
Greg Gibson – No. 53 (1B)
Greg Gibson is the first base umpire in the Wild Card Game. This might likely be his last postseason in baseball as all signs point to him retiring after the 2018 season. He is about to hit the pension level of 20 years in umpiring and already runs a State Farm branch in Kentucky. Gibson’s strike zone is pretty average, with a 4.04 ERA in 31 games behind the plate. That is tied for 52nd with Ryan Blakney. Batters have a 8.7/H9, 3.0/BB9 and 7.9/K9 (really small and low) batting line. Batters only have a .254/.320/.420 batting line, which is average, leaning towards hitters.
The native of Ironton, Ohio made his major league debut on June 14, 1997 at the old Busch Stadium in St. Louis in an interleague game between the Cardinals and the Indians. He was part of Paul Runge’s crew, with Brian Gibbons and Paul Schreiber. Gibson has 81 career ejections since his MLB debut, none of which were against the New York Yankees. Gibson has four ejections this year (Brandon Hyde, Brandon Belt, Juan Soto and Kevin Long). If this is his last go around, props to a wonderful career for Greg Gibson.
Gerry Davis – No. 12 (CC / 2B)
Gerry Davis is the crew chief, and until Tuesday afternoon, there was no one announced otherwise. An umpire and sports gear aficionado, Davis is one of the most veteran members of the game of baseball. Behind only Joe West in tenure, Davis has served as an umpire for 37 seasons. Davis worked 28 games behind the plate for the 2018 season, and he has a 4.21 ERA for the season. That is good enough for 37th of 89 umpires. His numbers though, lean toward the hitter. Scouting reports note he has one of the smallest strike zones in the game of baseball. The numbers are in some agreement of that. Batters have a 8.0/H9, 3.2/BB9 (high) and 8.4/K9 line with .236/.307/.407. The on-base percentage will be high with Davis behind the plate.
? The native of St. Louis, Missouri, Davis now lives out in the western United States. He made his MLB debut on June 9, 1982 at Olympic Stadium as part of the late Frank Pulli’s crew, which included Jerry Crawford and Sicily-native Nick Colosi. Davis has 85 career ejections, including two this season. However, his most famous Yankee ejection came on April 23, 2014 when he tossed Michael Pineda for the pine tar on his neck. He also is the one who ejected Adrian Beltre for moving the on-deck circle, which showed up the umpire. Humorously, his next to ejections were of Joe Girardi in August 2014 and Bob Melvin that same month. Davis is one of my favourite umpires in the game. Hopefully he has an ALCS assignment.
Alan Porter – No. 64 (3B)
Alan Porter is our third base umpire in the Wild Card Game. Yay, more hitters umpires. If this were the American League Division Series, we would be in business with hitters zones. If Wolf’s strike zone wasn’t small enough, Porter has an 8.4/H9, 3.2/BB9 and 8.7/K9 strike zone. Do not expect much of a strike zone of questionable calls. Batters have a .247/.318/.434 batting line this season with Porter behind the plate in 30 games. That is an excellent hitters line, especially in the on-base percentage.
The native of Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia made his MLB debut on April 5, 2010 at PNC Park in a game between the Pirates and the Dodgers. That game he worked under John Hirschbeck’s crew, with Larry Vanover and Mark Carlson. Andrew McCutchen was in that game. Porter has 26 major league ejections in his short career, with four this season alone. Two are of the Yankees, one of which was this year. This year, he ejected Josh Bard on April 27 after a questionable strike three call. In 2015, he also ejected Joe Girardi for a check swing call.
Will Little – No. 93 (LF)
Five for five in average or hitters umpires. Will Little is the left field umpire for the Wild Card Game. Literally right above Gerry Davis in ERA (4.22) and a 1.30 WHIP, Little is another hitters specialty. Batters with Little behind the plate have an 8.5/H9, 3.2/BB9 and 8.4/K9 line. Hitters are batting .246/.312/.400 with Little behind the plate. Again, great numbers if this were a full series rather than just one game.
However, the heave-ho would be an accurate description of Will Little. He made his MLB debut on June 24, 2013 in a game between the Cleveland Indians and Baltimore Orioles as part of Ted Barrett’s crew. A native of Fall Branch, Tennessee, Little has racked up 29 ejections in six seasons, including eight this season. 28 of the 29 ejections are over balls and strikes or a check swing. The only one that has not been for that was ejecting Mike Matheny on August 1, 2014 for a balk call. The irony is that most of the calls in 2018 were correctly called.
Pat Hoberg – No. 31 (RF)
Well, we get 6 for 6 for umpires whose strike zones tend to favour hitters. Pat Hoberg is our right field umpire in the Wild Card Game, which is his first postseason assignment. (We may have Gibson in his last and have Hoberg in his first.) Batters have a 4.21 ERA (tied with Gerry Davis and John Tumpane) and a 1.32 WHIP with Hoberg behind the plate. The strike zone definition here is: miniscule. Batters have an 8.3/H9, 3.6/BB9 (!!!) and an 8.1/K9 rate. That strike zone is small. Really small. Batters have a .243/.317/.406 batting line, which backs it up.
? The native of Des Moines, Iowa made his MLB debut on March 31, 2014 at Chase Field in a barn burner between the San Francisco Giants and the Arizona Diamondbacks as part of Tom Hallion’s crew. He has 16 career ejections, including 3 this year. He got some unintended airtime for ejecting Seth Maness, Yadier Molina and Mike Matheny in back to back games. No one was happy with him. The Yankees should remember Hoberg, he was the man who gave Aaron Boone his first ejection of the 2018 season and as Yankee manager. (For those wondering, Boone’s last ejection was in June 2007 for fighting.) Hoberg worked as part of Davis’ crew during the regular season, so no surprise they are together again.
Conclusion
Well, as I have repeated again and again, the Yankees would in the benefit of not one, not two, but six strike zones that all favour hitters if this were a full postseason. Hopefully if they advance, we get to see some of them again. If they do advance, Angel Hernandez awaits in Boston.
Regardless of inning, Zach Britton should face the middle of the A’s lineup in the Wild Card Game

Whoa! Plenty of big names on move at MLB trade deadline
Whoa! Plenty of big names on move at MLB trade deadline https://ift.tt/eA8V8J Whoa! Plenty of big names on move at MLB trade deadline
MINNEAPOLIS — The NL West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers kept revamping their infield, getting power-hitting second baseman Brian Dozier from the Minnesota Twins for infielder Logan Forsythe and two minor leaguers shortly before Tuesday’s trade deadline.
Dozier will join a Dodgers team that’s in a tight race with Arizona, aiming for a return trip to the World Series. The Dodgers went all in by acquiring Baltimore shortstop Manny Machado during the All-Star break for five prospects.
Dozier was the fifth player traded by the Twins in the last five days.
Signalling the front office’s shift in focus to the future amid a disappointing season, Dozier followed starting pitcher Lance Lynn, relief pitchers Zach Duke and Ryan Pressly and infielder Eduardo Escobar out the door. The Twins received a total of 12 players in return, with Forsythe the only current major leaguer.
The Twins also got outfielder Luke Raley and lefthander Devin Smeltzer for Dozier.
Though the 31-year-old Dozier’s production has dropped off this year, he has 161 home runs in six seasons as a regular in the lineup. In 2016, Dozier went deep 42 times, becoming only the fourth player in major league history to hit 40 or more home runs while playing second base.
Dozier is batting .224 with 16 home runs and 52 RBIs this season, with a .708 on-base-plus-slugging percentage that’s his lowest since he was a rookie in 2012.
Dozier, who is making $9 million this year, will be a free agent in the fall. He was drafted in the eighth round by the Twins in 2009.
ARCHER GOES TO PITTSBURGH
The Pittsburgh Pirates have bolstered their rotation at the deadline, adding righthander Chris Archer from Tampa Bay for a pair of coveted prospects in outfielder Austin Meadows and pitcher Tyler Glasnow and a player to be named later.
Archer, a two-time All-Star, is 3-5 with a 4.31 ERA in 17 starts this season for the Rays. The 29-year-old gives the Pirates a significant jolt in experience in a rotation that includes three starters — Jameson Taillon, Trevor Williams and Joe Musgrove — 26 or younger.
The move is the second significant trade by the Pirates at the deadline. Pittsburgh acquired Texas Rangers closer Keone Kela in exchange for left-handed pitching prospect Taylor Hearn and a player to be named.
The Pirates, who have been reluctant to part with young prospects in recent years at the deadline, gave up a pair of promising talents.
Meadows, a first-round pick in the 2013 draft, hit .292 with five home runs and 13 RBIs in 49 for the Pirates after making his major-league debut on May 17. The 24-year-old Glasnow dominated as a starter in the minors but struggled as a starter during his first season-plus in Pittsburgh, going 2-7 with a 7.69 ERA in 15 games (13 starts) in 2017.
The Pirates moved Glasnow to the bullpen this season with better results. The 6-foot-8 right-hander is 1-2 with a 4.34 ERA in 34 appearances.
BREWERS LAND SCHOOP
The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired second baseman Jonathan Schoop in a trade with the Baltimore Orioles.
The playoff-hopeful Brewers sent second baseman Jonathan Villar, along with two prospects to Baltimore.
Schoop is the second infielder to be acquired in the last few days after Milwaukee traded for third baseman Mike Moustakas from Kansas City. The plan then was for left-handed hitting third baseman Travis Shaw to shift to second base. Schoop gives the Brewers a right-handed option at second.
BRAVES TRADE FOR ORIOLES PITCHERS
The Atlanta Braves have acquired right-handers Kevin Gausman and Darren O’Day from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for four prospects.
The 27-year-old Gausman is 5-8 with a 4.43 ERA in 21 games started for Baltimore. He is under team control through 2020.
This is the second deal between the teams in three days. Atlanta boosted its bullpen by acquiring right-hander Brad Brach from Baltimore for an international signing slot on Sunday.
Gausman will provide another veteran arm in a Braves rotation that has lost rookie Mike Soroka and right-hander Brandon McCarthy to injuries. O’Day is on the 60-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring. He has a 3.60 ERA and two saves in 20 games for Baltimore this season.
MAYBIN ON MOVE TO MARINERS
Miami Marlins outfielder Cameron Maybin has been traded to the Seattle Mariners for minor league infielder Bryson Brigman and international slot money.
Maybin is batting .251 with three homers and 20 RBIs in 99 games this season, but he’s batting .329 with a .912 OPS since June 29. The Mariners are the seventh team for the 12-year veteran, who has a $3.25 million, one-year contract.
Brigman is batting .304 this year for single-A Modesto.
RAMOS TRADED TO PHILLIES
The NL East-leading Phillies have acquired All-Star catcher Wilson Ramos from the Tampa Bay Rays for a player to be named later or cash.
Ramos is batting .297 with 14 homers and 53 RBIs but is currently on the disabled list with a left hamstring strain. He’ll upgrade an offence that has struggled during a four-game losing streak. Jorge Alfaro has been Philadelphia’s starting catcher with Andrew Knapp also seeing plenty of action.
ZIEGLER DEALT TO DIAMONDBACKS
Right-handed reliever Brad Ziegler has been traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks, who bolstered their bullpen for the pennant race and gave up double-A reliever Tommy Eveld to the Miami Marlins.
Ziegler, 38, is 1-5 with a 3.98 ERA this season. His ERA was 7.88 on June 1, but since then he has allowed two runs in 28 innings.
He’s in the final year of a $16 million, two-year contract, which made the cost-conscious Marlins willing to trade him since they’re in last place in the NL East. Arizona is battling the Dodgers and Rockies for the NL West lead.
The right-handed Eveld, 24, has a 1.11 ERA in 35 games in the minor leagues this season. He’s a native of the Miami area.
Ziegler had 30 saves for the Diamondbacks in 2015. The following year, he was traded to Boston before signing with the Marlins.
INDIANS GET OUTFIELD HELP
Badly needing outfield help, the Cleveland Indians have acquired centre fielder Leonys Martin from the Detroit Tigers.
Cleveland also received righthander Kyle Dowdy in the deal for shortstop prospect Willi Castro.
The AL-Central-leading Indians have been pursuing an outfielder for weeks and pulled off the deal just hours before Tuesday’s non-waiver deadline. The 30-year-old Martins batted .251 with nine homers and 29 RBIs this season for the Tigers, who are 18 1/2 games behind Cleveland.
Martin has also scored 78 runs in his first season with Detroit and he leads the AL with nine assists. He missed time in July with a strained hamstring.
RAYS GET PHAM FROM CARDS
The St. Louis Cardinals have traded outfielder Tommy Pham to the Tampa Bay Rays for three minor leaguers — outfielder Justin Williams, left-handed pitcher Genesis Cabrera and right-handed pitcher Roel Ramirez.
The Rays also received international cap space in the four-player trade announced Tuesday, baseball’s deadline for trades without waivers.
The 30-year-old Pham has been a member of the Cardinals’ organization since being drafted in 2006. He was batting .248 this season with 14 home runs and 41 RBIs as St. Louis opened the day seven games out of the NL Central lead during a season in which the team has already fired manager Mike Matheny.

First Defense #1
Tumblr media
First Defense #1 Absolute Comics Group 2020 Written by Chris Crosby Illustrated by Tina Francisco Coloured by Katrina Mae Ho Lettered by Zach Matheny    In the beginning there was The First Daughter, which ran for 4 serialised short stories on ComiXology and Keenspot.  You can still read these stories in their entirety for free on thefirstdaughter.keenspot.com however without having to do that there is a great recap here and it’s the kind I wish we’d get in every book to help new readers and even old ones keep up.      The President's daughter, Tasha Tasker, learns her destiny when she is pulled into a secret, supernatural enclave beneath the White House. She's just the latest in a long line of "First Children" who were granted powers and have lain in stasis. Now they are waking up and she must lead them to combat a threat from beyond the stars!    Well once again here we are with another first issue from Absolute Comics and I am still utterly impressed with the quality of the storytelling here.  I know Chris from his work at Keenspot and I have really liked that so to see him here is really nice.  I think this concept and idea is flawlessly executed and it is in my opinion has never been done before which is rare in this day and age.  The way that we see this being told is phenomenal and the story & plot development that we see through how the sequence of events unfold as well as how the reader learns information is laid out perfectly.  The way we are introduced to the characters is well done and it generates that interest to get to know them so the character development that we see is rather nice.  The pacing here is great and as it takes us through the pages revealing the twists and turns along the way we see how all of this works together to create the books ebb & flow.    There are quite a number of things which we see in this book that engages the readers’ mind in some unique ways.  Whether or not you pick up what I do or if you pick up things that I do not we become engaged in the what ifs?How is this going to work?, wait a minute back up and concentrate on that.  These are a few of the things that were going through my brain as I was reading this.    The interiors here are absolutely beautifully done.  The linework that we see is stunning and how we see the varying weights are utilised, a few varying techniques would be nice to see but it doesn’t detract in the slightest the beauty in the attention to detail.  There is a real sense of grace that comes with through in the interiors and it isn’t something we see every day.  How the backgrounds are being utilised as they enhance the moments and bring this great depth perception, sense of scale and the overall sense of size and scope to the book.  The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show a superb eye for storytelling.  The colour work is exquisite to see.  I love seeing the way that the transition takes place or how the scales in the dragon look, the gradation and colour choices to create these beautiful effects is sensational.  The way we see the various hues and tones within the colours utilised to create the shading, highlights and shadow work show a true understanding of how to colour works.     This is a really fun title.  It’s an inventive story that weaves conspiracy theories into reality and it takes the reader on a journey through an alternate reality where everything happens for a reason according to one being.  This finds a way to tickle the funny bone while providing a look into what we know, what we think we know and that which we could only dream of knowing.

The Latest: Braves get Gausman, O'Day from Orioles for 4
New Post has been published on https://is.gd/Qp49Dp
The Latest: Braves get Gausman, O'Day from Orioles for 4
The latest on Major League Baseball trades on the deadline day for deals without waivers (all times Eastern): 4:25 p.m.
The Orioles acquired Triple-A Gwinnett right-hander Evan Phillips, Class A Rome infielder Jean Carlos Encarnacion and two Double-A Mississippi prospects — catcher Brett Cumberland and left-hander Bruce Zimmerman. Baltimore also received international signing bonus slot money.
Phillips had an 8.53 ERA in four relief appearances with Atlanta this season. ___ 4:15 p.m.
The Pittsburgh Pirates have bolstered their rotation at the deadline, adding right-hander Chris Archer from Tampa Bay for a pair of coveted prospects in outfielder Austin Meadows and pitcher Tyler Glasnow and a player to be named later.
Archer, a two-time All-Star, is 3-5 with a 4.31 ERA in 17 starts this season for the Rays. The 29-year-old gives the Pirates a significant jolt in experience in a rotation that includes three starters __ Jameson Taillon, Trevor Williams and Joe Musgrove __ 26 or younger.
___ 4:05 p.m.
A person with knowledge of the deal tells The Associated Press that Minnesota Twins second baseman Brian Dozier has been traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The deal, done shortly before Major League Baseball’s non-waiver deadline, sends infielder Logan Forsythe and two minor league players to the Twins. The person spoke to The AP on condition of anonymity because the trade had not yet been announced.
Dozier marked the fifth player the Twins have traded in the last five days, signaling their shift in focus to the future amid a disappointing season.
Dozier joins a Dodgers team that’s in a tight race with Arizona in the NL West, aiming for a return trip to the World Series. Dozier’s production has dropped off this year, but he has some of the best power numbers in baseball for players at his position. The 31-year-old has spent his entire career with the Twins.
Elsewhere as the deadline approached, Washington traded reliever Brandon Kintzler to the Chicago Cubs for minor league pitcher Jhon Romero, and the Philadelphia Phillies acquired left-hander Aaron Loup from the Toronto Blue Jays for minor league right-hander Jacob Waguespack.
— Dave Campbell reporting from Minneapolis. ___ 4 p.m.
Brigman is batting .304 this year for Class A Modesto. ___ 3:40 p.m.
The NL East-leading Phillies have acquired All-Star catcher Wilson Ramos from the Tampa Bay Rays for a player to be named later or cash.
Ramos is batting .297 with 14 homers and 53 RBIs but is currently on the disabled list with a left hamstring strain. He’ll upgrade an offense that has struggled during a four-game losing streak. Jorge Alfaro has been Philadelphia’s starting catcher with Andrew Knapp also seeing plenty of action. ___ 1:50 p.m.
___ 1:05 p.m.
Badly needing outfield help, the Cleveland Indians have acquired center fielder Leonys Martin from the Detroit Tigers.
Cleveland also received right-hander Kyle Dowdy in the deal for shortstop prospect Willi Castro.
The AL-Central-leading Indians have been pursuing an outfielder for weeks and pulled off the deal just hours before Tuesday’s non-waiver deadline. The 30-year-old Martins batted .251 with nine homers and 29 RBIs this season for the Tigers, who are 18 ½ games behind Cleveland.
Martin has also scored 78 runs in his first season with Detroit and he leads the AL with nine assists. He missed time in July with a strained hamstring.
The Cuban has a career .248 average with 47 homers and 205 RBIs in 699 games with Texas, Seattle, the Chicago Cubs and Tigers.
Dowdy, 25, is 8-8 with a 4.74 ERA between Double-A Erie and Triple-A Toledo this season. ___ 11:50 a.m.
Washington Nationals president and general manager Mike Rizzo says Bryce Harper will not be traded before Tuesday’s deadline.
Rizzo tells The Washington Post in a text message that Harper “is not going anywhere.”
The Nationals have been one of baseball’s biggest disappointments.
They entered Tuesday with a 52-53 record, but they are still within 5 ½ games of the NL East lead and the second wild card. ___ 11:30 a.m.
There had already been a flurry of moves this week, including closers Roberto Osuna (to Houston) and Ken Giles (to Toronto) switching teams, Seattle picking up Adam Warren and Zach Duke, Lance Lynn joining the New York Yankees, Adam Duvall moving to Atlanta and Ian Kinsler added to the Boston Red Sox.

Major League Baseball notebook: Cards
St. Louis Cardinals left fielder Marcell Ozuna, who overslept and was a late arrival to Busch Stadium, was scratched from the lineup for Wednesday’s day game against the Kansas City Royals.

“I came to the park and said sorry to my teammates and my coach,” Ozuna told reporters following the Cardinals’ 5-2 loss in 10 innings. “Everybody makes a mistake. Today it was me.”
His replacement in left field, rookie Tyler O’Neill, made an error in the sixth inning that helped the Royals score their second run, which tied the game. O’Neill finished 1-for-4 at the plate and scored a run.
Cardinals manager Mike Matheny is a stickler for on-time arrivals, so he made the decision to pull Ozuna from the lineup.
—The National League-best Milwaukee Brewers will add more reinforcements on Thursday when first baseman/outfielder Ryan Braun and right-hander Zach Davies are reinstated from the disabled list.
First baseman/outfielder Ji-Man Choi, who hit .267 with a home run in six games with Milwaukee, and right-hander Brandon Woodruff, who has a 6.05 ERA in eight games (three starts), were optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Davies, a 17-game winner last year, has a 4.24 ERA in six starts with the Brewers this season. He has been sidelined since May 3 with right rotator cuff inflammation. Braun returns after missing the team’s past nine games with middle back tightness. The 34-year-old has hit .222 with five home runs and 20 RBIs this season.
—Oakland Athletics slugger Khris Davis was placed on the disabled list due to a strained right groin muscle, the team announced. Davis sustained the injury during a swing on Sunday in Oakland’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Davis, who is batting .235 with 13 home runs and 38 RBIs, could miss anywhere from 10 days to three weeks.
Oakland recalled infielder Franklin Barreto and right-hander Daniel Gossett from Triple-A Nashville. The club also designated right-hander Wilmer Font for assignment. Barreto was batting .235 with six homers and 17 RBIs in 32 games at Nashville. Gossett is 0-1 with an 11.05 ERA in two games for Oakland this season. He is 4-0 with a 1.63 ERA in seven appearances (five starts) for Nashville.
—The Seattle Mariners and the Washington State Major League Baseball Stadium Public Facilities District (PFD) came to terms on a new 25-year lease for the team at Safeco Field, which includes a long-term plan to spend up to $385 million on capital improvements.
The agreement, which takes effect next year, also allows for a pair of three-year options that could push the terms through 2049. The team’s current lease ends this year.
“We want this ballpark to be our home for the next 100 years. Safeco Field should be to Seattle and to the Mariners what Wrigley Field is to Chicago and the Cubs and Fenway Park is to Boston and the Red Sox,” Mariners chairman and managing partner John Stanton said in a statement.
—Former All-Star outfielder Lenny Dykstra was arrested after allegedly threatening an Uber driver in Linden, N.J. Dykstra allegedly pulled out a gun, held it to the driver’s head and threatened to kill the man.
Dykstra, 55, was charged with making terroristic threats and with multiple drug offenses. According to Linden police, Dykstra was in possession of cocaine, marijuana and ecstasy when taken into custody around 3:30 a.m. ET.
Dykstra was a three-time All-Star for the Philadelphia Phillies during a 12-year playing career in which he was known for feisty and aggressive play. He finished second in National League MVP voting in 1993 when he went batted .305 and walked 129 times en route to scoring 143 runs. He played for the New York Mets for 4 1/2 seasons, beginning in 1985, until being traded to the Phillies.
—Houston placed right fielder Josh Reddick on the 10-day disabled list prior to the Astros’ afternoon game against the San Francisco Giants. Reddick is dealing with an infection near his left knee.
The Astros recalled outfielder Jake Marisnick from Triple-A Fresno.
Reddick is batting .227 with six homers and 18 RBIs. Marisnick struggled with the Astros earlier this season as he batted just .141 with three homers and 41 strikeouts in 85 at-bats.
—Cincinnati activated right-handed reliever Michael Lorenzen off the disabled list, only to see Raisel Iglesias (sore left biceps) and Austin Brice (back) go on the 10-day disabled list, each retroactive to May 20.
Lorenzen rejoined the team for the first time this season after sustaining a muscle strain in his throwing shoulder during spring training. Right-hander Tanner Rainey was recalled from the Triple-A Louisville to complete the roster shuffle.
Iglesias has a 2.08 ERA and eight saves in 20 outings this season, striking out 27 batters in 21 2/3 innings. Interim manager Jim Riggleman indicated he would be willing to use multiple relievers in save situations, including Lorenzen, who has a 4.57 ERA in 132 games (21 starts) in his three years in the majors.
—The Tampa Bay Rays placed right-hander Jake Faria on the 10-day disabled list due to a strained left oblique.
Faria, 3-3 with a 5.48 ERA this season, sustained the injury during his Tuesday start against the Boston Red Sox and is expected to miss at least six weeks, manager Kevin Cash told reporters. He departed with two outs in the third inning Tuesday night.
Tampa Bay recalled journeyman left-hander Vidal Nuno from Triple-A Durham to fill the roster spot. Nuno has a 5-21 record in 138 career appearances (42 starts) over five previous major league seasons. He has a 4.29 ERA and 283 strikeouts in 344 innings.
—The New York Yankees called up left-hander Ryan Bollinger from Double-A Trenton, the first major league stint for the 27-year-old, who is back in a major league organization this season for the first time since 2013.
Bollinger played in Canada, Germany and Australia before catching the eyes of the Yankees and landing a minor league deal. He owns a tidy 0.90 ERA while winning all three of his starts at Trenton. He also made two starts at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre earlier this season and went 0-1 with a 4.00 ERA.
New York had a roster opening after sending right-hander Giovanny Gallegos to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after a Tuesday game against the Texas Rangers. Gallegos pitched two scoreless innings on Tuesday and allowed two hits.
