Finished reading Queen of the Damned (after re-reading/skimming the first two books) and I’m looking at how long the series continues to go on after this and geez, AR really had no idea how to quit when she was ahead, huh

#ignore me #I read somewhere that book 4 starts getting frustrating with erasing character development and stuff which. yeah that's p much what I expect #with all the retconning already happening this early in the series I can't even imagine how bad it must have got by book twelve or thirteen #anyway ignoring the inexplicable levels of racism and misogyny (er... misandry? both??) I was really happy with how the book ended lmfao #I don't think I'll read any more despite my curiosity about what happens with the Talamasca because it can really only go downhill from here #they have their creepy little found family of vampires living in Miami and #Lestat is still a little shit but at a more manageable level #with Louis by his side to call him out and also support him so he doesn't end up like Akasha #(who was a shockingly good character mirror for Lestat. I truly wasn't expecting that but I will give kudos where they are due)#(like somehow Rice managed to make Akasha a mirror for Lestat's worst qualities that he had to overcome AND #a stark reminder of his past traumas with Magnus etc... at the same time!! legit kind of impressive)#and almost all the loose ends are tied up aside from Lestat prodding mischievously at the paranormal investigators but that's whatever #I can look up book synopses later for the rest of the series just to see what happens. (how in the NINE HELLS is ATLANTIS involved??)
