for the fic ask!! - #7 how do you pick your titles?

<3 <3 <3 !!! usually I pick a line I particularly liked in what I wrote. I usually have a 'working' title when a story isn't done yet though, and its usually the vibe/focus I want the story to have lol. (I have a Star Trek fic that's finished title is "What will they find when I am ripped apart" because that's the Star Trek Spock Poem line I thought about constantly when writing, but the working title in my drafts is always 'trying to get ever closer' because its a line I wrote in one chapter that felt like it really summed up the point of the story lol - so in that fic's case, I did the opposite of what I usually do with working versus final titles).

I wish I was better at titles tbh! ToT

ToT #..................................................#a wmmsd fun fact is lol. wmmsd is also basically still using the 'working' title. i never came up with a final one for it #i Prefer to use a quote from a chapter/story for chapter and story titles #because it reminds me of a scene i liked. or of the point i was focusing on etc.#like ALL my The Untamed fics are named that way #but oddly? a lot of my longest fics end up using the 'working' title and i don't use a quote as the final title #like i used 'what makes monsters stop devouring'#because when i wrote i was just thinking. ok if ye zun is a monster how does he Stop?#if shen wei's demons and self destructive tendencies tend to surge up when he's under pressure. how does he STOP them from devouring him?#how does shen wei STOP them from killing him this time around in the fix it fic?#and if zhao yunlans monster is grief. and anger. and revenge. then how does he get past that enough to want to stay alive #to manage to be with shen wei. to manage to get along with ye zun in some way without them killing each other?#the whole story is about how like. these 3 people (4 really - kunlun sees himself as monstrous too()#how these people try to handle their own internal monsters and overcome them. because the real villain isn't external. for all of them #their biggest challenge in wmmsd is themselves.
