2020 LEC Pre-Split Team Power Rankings

It’s that time of year when everyone following professional LoL has to aimlessly make an attempt at predicting the strength of teams they’ve never seen play before. Although I am entirely self aware of this, I continue to try irregardless. I’m sure there’s something to be said about pursuing futile objectives at 2 in the morning, but I can’t concern myself with such matters. Time is of the essence! Below are my League of Legends European Championship, or LEC, team power rankings.

#1: G2 ESPORTS

It doesn’t take a genius to make this prediction. G2 is the most dominant team to ever play in Europe, making it to finals essentially uncontested last worlds, and absolutely smashing all of the competition until they had to face their Chinese overlords. No roster changes were made over the off-season, but the one wildcard for this team is the Perkz and Caps role swap. Judging by the success of the Perkz roleswap last year, I don’t see the roleswap hurting the team too much, and even in the worst case scenario, I don’t think there’s a world where they don’t come top 3.

#2: FNATIC

In my opinion, Fnatic is the only team that has a chance of contesting G2 for the European title. The only roster change they made in the off-season was replacing Broxah with Selfmade, which I honestly consider an upgrade. Both players are exceptional, but Fnatic seemed to have stagnated with the roster they ran last year, despite Nemesis getting comfortable throughout the year. There was allegedly some internal issues between the team, and I think changing the jungler is the best way to change the team’s pace. There are few junglers that could fill the shoes of Broxah, but I think Selfmade is more than capable. Only time will tell whether or not the change will garner Fnatic another championship.

#3: ROGUE

This is where we start to get into the more controversial opinions. Despite this, I feel very confident in my picks for top 4. Rogue shocked fans across the world last year after they gave their rookies starting positions and surged to a startling 3rd place finish in the summer split, where they even defeated Splyce, who would eventually go on to represent Europe at the world championship as 3rd seed. Rogue is filled with young talent eager to prove themselves, and I think that this is their year to do just that. The main detrimental factor of Rogue last year was their ADC, Woolite, who they seemed to win in spite of, rather than as a result of. This year, though, with the acquisition of European staple ADC Hans Sama, their roster is stacked and I expect great things from them.

#4: ORIGEN

Origen absolutely has the potential to come top 3, but there are too many question marks for me to grant them that spot on this list. Origen looked absolutely lost at the end of the 2019 summer split, and made roster changes accordingly. Acquiring Upset and Xerxe is arguably the best 2 pickups they could have made. However, I’m left with two big questions revolving around this team; firstly, it’s impossible to tell for sure how their support, Destiny, will fare against European competition. Origen followed the trend of importing OCE talent that several orgs seem to have been on this off-season, and it could pay off big, or bring the whole team down. Additionally, it’s difficult to tell whether or not we will get 2019 summer split Nukeduck or LEC finalist Nukeduck. His play was a perfect epitomization of how lost Origen was at the end of last year, and if Origen wants to compete for a worlds spot, he’s going to have to step back up to his peak level of performance that we’ve seen from him in the past.

#5: EXCEL ESPORTS

Excel reaped the benefits of the Splyce and Origen boom. Picking up Patrik and Tore (formerly Norskeren) gave this team a serious upgrade in the bot lane, which had essentially been an empty void for the entirety of the org’s existence. Both of these players are top level competitors in the region. On top of this, the return of Mickey brings a solid player back to the mid lane, another role in which Excel struggled to fill in the past. Despite his apparent interpersonal issues (none of which are confirmed to be true), Mickey is a player that has proven he can compete with the best and I think he has what it takes to bring Excel to the playoffs. Expect has also been a pretty consistent rock in the top lane for Excel, so his return is no surprise, and more than welcome. The one issue I have with this team is keeping Caedrel in the jungle position - perhaps they tried and failed to acquire a new jungler, but I worry that Caedrel will simply get outjungled by the stacked jungle competition in the LEC and will prevent the rest of their team from realizing greater success. I wasn’t impressed with what he brought to the table last year, but maybe he will surprise us this year now that he has a real bot lane to play around.

#6: FC SCHALKE 04

I’m not entirely confident in my placement of Schalke here, and I think any one of the teams below them can and likely will surpass them, but Schalke has the benefit of being a team made up of familiar faces. Odoamne and Abbedagge both performed quite well last year, which is why I give them an edge over the other teams. Additionally, if Forgiven is still in form, his pickup will be huge for them, but it is a high risk for a pretty low chance of reward. Dreams is a player that I have found to be mediocre and unimpressive, but perhaps being paired with Forgiven will allow him to shine more. My biggest issue with the team is, similarly to Excel, the jungle position. Gilius has shown fairly high highs and significantly low lows. If we get peak Vitality Gilius, then I feel more confident in granting Schalke playoffs positioning, but if he flops, then I don’t expect the team to come higher than 7th. Schalke is a coinflip team that mostly depends on the performance of Forgiven.

#7: MAD LIONS

As we get lower on the list, you’ll notice these teams will be increasingly filled with rookies, which makes it more and more difficult to predict where they will place. I personally put Mad Lions over the other rookie-filled teams because of two reasons. One, I think Humanoid is the best individual player on any of these rookie rosters, and his presence in the mid lane should be able to lift the ceiling for his teammates. Additionally, Carzzy is one of the few rookies that I know enough about to consider promising. His performance in the academy scene gives me confidence that he can compete with the best ADs in the region, and I think he will quickly become a staple in the league. Ultimately, the loss of Splyce created a lot of opportunity for other European teams to snatch up their talent, and I don’t think the sole return of Humanoid is enough to even approach the level of success the Splyce squad had - but I think in comparison to the other rookie squads, it has a higher ceiling for success.

#8: SK GAMING

SK has a lot of promising rookie talent on its roster, but I’m less impressed with its returning players. SK retained its AD and Top laner of Crownshot and Sacre, which I think both performed sufficiently but failed to really break through into the top tier of competition. Sacre has had praises sung about him by pros and fans alike, which I think gives him an edge over the lower half of the LEC competition. Additionally, losing Selfmade hurts SK a lot, although acquiring former G2 and Schalke jungler Trick band-aids this hole somewhat, I don’t think Trick has as high of a ceiling as Selfmade did. On the other hand, I’ve seen and heard a lot of good things about SK’s returning mid laner, Jenax. If he’s as good as the rumors suggest, perhaps he will be able to help carry SK to a lower seeded playoffs position. He looked solid last split, but insider opinion suggests he can perform at even higher levels, which I would be eager to see. I haven’t heard much hype about their rookie support LIMIT, but his high placement in EU masters gives me hope that he will be able to compete against other European bot lanes, especially being paired with Crownshot, who I think has a lot of potential. As with all rookie squads, as we saw with Rogue last year, this team has the ability to contend for a playoffs position, but they lack the confident veterans that many other teams have.

#9: TEAM VITALITY

Similarly to MAD, Vitality has the benefit of retaining Cabochard from last year, which gives them a rock in the top lane who is almost guaranteed to perform. However, I don’t think that top lane is as influential as mid lane, so MAD gets the upper hand there. Additionally, keeping Jactroll is a penultimate failure and I think is a main factor holding Vitality back from a playoffs position. Somewhere along the line he lost his way that allowed Vitality to go to worlds as second seed two years ago, but his play last year was absolutely atrocious, and he had some of the worst stats for a support in the league. I don’t know enough about Vitality’s rookies to make confident statements on them. Although I’ve heard good things about their rookie ADC Comp, I don’t have as much faith in these rookies as much as I do other teams, and I think failing to get an upgrade or rookie support hurts this roster big time.

#10: MISFITS GAMING

Misfits as an organization has been on a downward velocity ever since their series against SKT in the 2017 world championship. This team gave European fans a glimmer of their chance against the Korean giants that teams like G2 and Fnatic would soon realize. However, since then, a series of unfortunate roster acquisitions wrecked this team. In 2019, they built what should have been a superteam, and likely cost them a lot of money, and it was an absolute trainwreck. Despite being filled with historically great players, the team just didn’t mesh, and failed to achieve anything. In light of this, Misfits is taking an alternate approach and fielding a few rookies. However, their decision to retain Febiven and pick up Bvoy perplexes me. Febiven was one of the worst looking players on the failed 2019 squad, but perhaps with a change of environment we can see him succeed as much as he did on Fnatic and Clutch. Bvoy, on the other hand, has struggled a lot since leaving Young Miracles in China and hasn’t found success since. Maybe Misfits still sees potential in him, but from an outsider perspective this is a head scratcher. Additionally, the pickup of Razork and Denyk from Giants in the mid and support positions respectively is a bit of a coinflip. On one hand, they have past synergy, but on another, they weren’t even the best team in Spain’s amateur scene, so it could fail horribly. I do think that promoting Dan Dan from Misfits Premier to the starting roster is a good and safe move, but it’s not enough for me to see this team placing any higher than 9th unless several teams completely collapse.

Excel Confirms Vetheo Stepping Back From LEC Starting Lineup Following Mental Health Update

Vincent "Vetheo" Berrié, the starting mid laner for the LEC, will be stepping back to concentrate on his mental health, according to Excel Esports. Since making his debut with Misfits Gaming in 2021, Vetheo has been one of the fastest-rising stars in the area. Before his departure, Vetheo had the highest kill participation percentage among all LEC mid laners, while also holding 26 percent of his team’s total gold, according to competitive League stats aggregate Oracle’s Elixir. Vetheo did, however, have some of the lowest damage and kill numbers in his role as well. Abbedagge, on the other hand, doesn’t require as many resources to succeed, seen by his relatively lower gold share numbers during his time with 100 Thieves. He also had similar kill participation percentages as Vetheo, while also boasting a higher average damage to champions per minute. 　フランチャイズ化に伴いUnicorns of Love、H2K、Team ROCCAT、Giants Gamingがリーグを去り、新たに4つのチームが加わった欧州リーグ。4チームとは言うものの、Origen(OG）とSK Gaming(SK）はそれぞれ優勝争いを演じていたこともある懐かしいチームの復帰、Rogueは過去にROCCAT在籍歴のある関係者が揃ったチームなので完全に新規参加（イギリスのアマチュアリーグで数年活動しているが今回選手は総入れ替え）のExcelを合わせて新チームは実質1.5チーム分ぐらいという気がしないでもない。とはいえ、従来のEU LCSから続投しているチームも主力選手の離脱やテコ入れのための大型補強によりメンバーは大きく変化している。昨年までの勢力図はアテにはならないだろう。新たな選手やチームの台頭、変化はいつだって歓迎される競技の世界、生まれ変わったLECの第一週を簡単に振り返ってみる。

以下、試合の結果を含む。

Rogue（RGE:0-2） 

　新規参戦のチームにとっては難しい初戦はMSF戦、sOAZ選手による「赤バフをサポートしたフリ」に引っ掛けられボットレーンでのLv2ガンクをカウンターされた結果、MSFのドレイヴンに赤バフとFBを渡すという非常に厳しい状況に陥る。その後もボットレーンを押し込まれ続け、ドレイヴンの前に膝を屈するゲームとなった。翌日のXL戦はProfit選手の不幸な事故（ストップウォッチでサイオンの猪突猛進を回避した結果、バックラインに刺さって被害が拡大した）やXL側のジリアンによってキルを阻まれ、カジックスに発生した賞金を回収できなかったことが原因で反撃が実らなかった。

　2試合の結果としては、ボットレーン��ピックが受け気味なのが少々気になるところ。各プレイヤーの技術は確かなものがあるメンバーが揃っているのだが、どこのレーンからでもゲームを壊す用意ができているかどうかは大きな差になりそうだ。

 Fnatic（FNC:0-2）

　昨年の欧州を席捲し、WCS決勝まで進んだチームという事で期待も大きかったであろうFNCだが、新ミッドのNemesis選手がカウンターピックを当てられて潰されたこともあって2敗からのスタートとなった。現在のゲーム展開はミッドを押さえてジャングルの選択肢を増やし各レーンを勝つのが主流なので、ルーキーを狙い撃ちにされた格好だ。

　SK戦ではレーンから少数での戦闘では期待に違わぬ活躍を見せられたが、最後の集団戦ではポッピーやリサンドラの存在もあって良い位置への飛び込みは難しかったし、OG戦はねこばばヴェインが最序盤で一方的にゴールドを稼いだことが最後まで響く結果となった。また、Rekkles選手がチャンピオンプールを改善するために以前はあまり使用してこなかったルシアン(2016年以来！)やジンを使用したりもしており、新しいことを試しつつスプリットを通して改善していくプランなのだろう。

　昨シーズンのC9がWeek3終了の時点で最下位に沈んだ後の飛躍を考えれば、最悪スプリット6位からプレイオフ全勝すればいいのでFNCファンは初週の結果をそこまで深刻にとらえることはない。

Team Vitality (VIT:1-1)

　まずは上位争いに絡んでくるライバルの一角となるF04との一戦、Jiizuke選手のヤスオに合わせた構成のVITに対し、S04も強力なエンゲージ能力を備えたチャンピオンを揃えてぶつかり合う姿勢を見せる。各レーンほぼ五分の時間が続いたものの、より強力なAoEダメージを揃えるF04に対しバロンを中断する中でタワーを失い、最後はバロンを先に獲得しに入ったF04にカウンターされる形で集団戦に敗北、バロンを得たF04に押し込まれてしまった。

　SPY戦はミッドカーサスにヴェイン、トップがジェイスで組み立ての難しい構成での試合となった。トップレーン以外のマッチアップは不利な状態だったが、カーサスの鎮魂歌を警戒してバロンに踏み切れないSPYに対して試合時間を引き延ばすことに成功。巧みに姿を消すジェイスとカーサスに対して有効なエンゲージができないSPYを左右に引き回して勝利を収めた。

　いずれの2試合もVITらしいと言えばらしいゲームだったように思う。Jiizuke選手を軸に試合を運ぼうとする動きやサイドレーンから揺さぶるマクロはラグビーと評されたこともあるVITらしい。一方でF04戦のようにずるずると判断が崩れる不安定さも見せており、スプリットを通じて修正していきたいポイントとなりそうだ。

Splyce (SPY:1-1)

　初戦となったXL戦。序盤はXLがボットレーンにシン・ジャオを送り込んだため苦しい展開となったが、中盤以降に孤立したジャングル・トップを的確にキャッチできたこと、XLの構成に強固な前線を構築できる純粋なタンクが不在だったことを的確に突いて勝利を収めることができた。

　続くVIT戦だが、序盤の苦しいヴェインに対してシヴィア、ザックで優位を取れたもののカーサスの鎮魂歌を警戒してバロンにアクセスできない時間帯が続いてしまった。そのままヴェインの装備が整い、集団戦を勝ちきることができなかった。VITは決して集団戦に強い構成ではなかったのだが、モルガナがヴェインを常に守り残りのソロレーナーがキャッチされるようなミスも見せなかったため試合を決めきれなかった。

　XL戦は勝利しているものの、展開としてはカウンター気味の形で有利を取っている点が少々気になった。ピックからの帰結として無理もないのだが、ミッドから圧倒していくような試合にも期待したい。

SK Gaming(SK:1-1)

　帰ってきた伝統の一戦となった対FNC戦、トラブルによるリマッチもあり両チームとも集中を維持するのが難しい状態となったがミッドのPirean選手がほぼレーンのコントロールを保ち、FNCがサイドレーンで仕掛けてくる動きに対しても適切な交換を行ってリードを許さないゲームを作ることができた。中盤の少数戦ではアカリ・パイク・リーシンの機動力でキャッチされる展開も見られたが、Werlyb選手のポッピーをはじめとしてFNCの仕掛けをズラし、全体としては構成が脆いという弱点を突いて集団戦に勝利、バロンを獲得して新たな「伝統の一戦」に勝利した。

　勢いに乗って迎えたMSF戦、互いにエンゲージ能力の高いチャンピオンを並べての試合となったがより速い時間帯から仕掛ける権利を持っていたのはカミールを擁するMSFだった。Lv2ガンクでボット側のフラッシュが尽き、ジャングルをカバーすることが難しくなった直後に自陣ジャングル内での戦闘でルシアンに2キル入った時点でSKのノクターンが仕掛ける余地は失われた。

　初週を終えて1-1、新規のロースターということで一部では不安視もされていた中での結果としては上出来と言えるだろう。MSFはLECの第一週時点ではG2と双璧となる完成度のチームなので、次の対戦までに序盤の組み立てを研究して対抗できれば良しと考えた方が良さそうだ。次回のS04戦やXL戦で勝利できれば予想を覆しての名門復活も見えてくる。

Origen (OG:1-1)

　オーナー同士が競技シーン黎明期においてライバル関係にあったG2との試合は、G2の変則的な構成に対して序盤のボットレーンを重視しつつバランスの良い構成で挑むOGという形で始まった。レーンにめっぽう強いドレイヴンが序盤を有利に進めることができたものの、中盤以降G2の豊富なポークと鎮魂歌によるキルの危険があまりにも高く次第に身動きが取れなくなり、最後は十分なヘルスを確保して当たることが不可能となり試合を落とすこととなった。

　翌日の試合は2015シーズン以来の因縁となるFNCとの一戦。勝利して1-1で終えたい試合である。OGはミッドレーンでFNCのガリオに対してラストピックで”ねこばば”ヴェインを当てる戦略を採用。Lv1から執拗にハラスを続けてどんどんゴールド差を作っていく。そして20分を待たずに王剣とグインソーが完成したヴェイン（ソロレーンなので成長も早い！）がFNCを粉砕した。他レーンは中盤までの当たりあいは五分、少数戦の動きはむしろFNC側が優勢だったが最後はゴールドの集まったハイパーキャリーがゲームを粉砕した。

　新ロースターで昨年までの上位チーム相手の2戦としては満足のいく初週だったと言えるだろう。ただ、いずれの結果もB/Pはかなり変則的な構成だったので、今後の結果について考えるのはまだ早そうだ。

FC Schalke 04 (F04:1-1)

　互いにトップチームに名を連ねるべく争うライバルにあたるVITとの一戦、序盤はサイドレーンをS04が押さえ、ミッドレーンはVITのヤスオがセジュアニと共にリードを作る展開となった。中盤以降も集団戦で互いにキルを交換しあい、エンゲージ志向のS04に対してゾーニングとピールのツールが多いVIT側がバロン周辺を確保する時間が続いた。しかし、AoEダメージを警戒してVITがバロンを取り切れず消費した時間でS04側がオブジェクトを獲得、最後は逆にバロンを獲得して押し切ることに成功した。

　上位を狙うチームとしては是非とも勝利したい難敵G2戦、F04側はエズリアルで低リスクなレーンを作り、IgNar選手のスレッシュがロームしやすい試合を作る目論見だったが、カイ＝サにFBが渡ってしまった所からボットレーンでの均衡が崩れてしまった。ミッドレーンのマッチアップも対アカリではなく、G2のプレイヤーが非常に幅広くフレックスピックを融通できるという点に振り回された格好となった。

　1-1という戦績は、初週の結果としてはまずまず問題無いものだろう。ルーキーのAbbedagge選手はかなりのプレッシャーと試合上での相手からの圧があったであろう中で、良いプレイをいくつか見せている。今回は手札をさらすことを嫌ったのか、ミッドがリサンドラ、ボットがエズリアルで2試合を戦っていたが、今後他のピックでもどのような試合を展開していくのかが注目されるだろう。

Excel Esports (XL:1-1)

　完全な新規チームかつ新たなロースターでの参戦となったXL。初戦はSPY相手に落としてしまったが、RGE戦はJeskla選手のルシアンに王剣が完成した時間帯に5v5を仕掛けて勝利。そこからCaedrel選手のカジックスがスノーボールして勝利を収めた。いずれの試合も最ベテランのkaSing選手のプレイが要所で刺さり、多くのファンの期待に応えたのではないだろうか。負けた試合の方はトップージャングルーミッドの構成が難しく、Caedrel選手がFBを獲られてしまったのが響いた。トップサイドのコミュニケーションと戦術に関して完成度が高まれば、今後もいい試合を見せてくれるのではないだろうか。

Misfits Gaming (2-0)

　初戦となった対RGE戦では、ジャングルのスタートを隠蔽するsOAZ選手の動きから見事なカウンターガンクを決めてHans Sama選手のドレイヴンにFBと赤バフを渡すことに成功、そのままボットレーンでゴールド差を広げてサイオンのCSと引き換えに勝利を獲得した。

　二日目の対SK戦でもMaxlore選手のカミールが華麗なLv2ガンクでボットレーンのフラッシュを全て吐かせ、そのままの流れで相手ジャングル内での戦闘を起こしてHans Sama選手にまたしてもキルを渡すことに成功。序盤の相手ジャングルを潰し、かつアシストのゴールドを得たカミールがレーンに現れる度に差を広げていくゲームを展開して勝利した。

　いずれの試合もプレイヤーの技術の高さと、強力なLv2ガンクに絡んだプレイから掴んだリードを離さない力強さを見せつけている。最序盤の準備においてMSFを上回らなければ彼ら��勝利するのは難しいだろう。

G2 Esports (2-0)

　欧州でも最高峰のミッドレーナーに数えられるであろうPerkz選手のボットレーンへのコンバートがどのような結果をもたらすのか注目されたG2、初戦で見せたのはなんとジャングルカーサスとボットゾーイだった。対するOGはドレイヴンとモルガナで序盤から押し込むゲームを志向し、実際レーンフェイズにおいてG2のボットレーンは苦戦していた。しかし、ジェイスのQがLv5に到達する頃から展開が変化する。ポークダメージを受けすぎればカーサスの鎮魂歌でキルが確定（デスグラインダーも可）するため、OGは”危険”のラインが非常に低くなってしまったのだ。ゾーイが2コア完成させたところでOG側は主導権を喪失。誰もが予想しなかった構成でG2が勝利を収めた。

　初戦のインパクトから、どのようなピックが飛び出すか注目が集まった対S04戦、ボットレーンはカイ＝サを選択したもののジャングルはまたしてもカーサス。またWunder選手にアカリを渡すG2お得意の交換も見せた。試合の方は、ミッドレーンで優勢を確保したCaps選手の早い寄せからF04のカ＝ジックスを捕えてPerkz選手にFBを渡すことに成功。全てのレーンで優勢を築いてそのまま25分を待たず勝利した。全体でのゴールド差を15kと広げての大勝である。

　スターミッドレーナー2名を抱え、Team DuoMidとも放送中に評されたG2だが、他のプレイヤーも一様に優れた技術とEUでは珍しい部類のチャンピオンプールを誇っている。彼らはピックした後にチャンピオンを自在に入れ替えて戦うことができる。G2にどれだけの「チーズ」が用意されているのか。誰にも予想できないシーズンとなりそうである。（ただ、Mikyx選手の負担がとんでもなく大きいシーズンにもなりそうだが）

Fakerdagge: a Meme Come True?

NOTE: I wrote this a couple of weeks ago. The exact stats may no longer be 100% accurate, but I think the points they support still stand.   Take a look at LCS player stats on a website like gol.gg and you might be surprised to find that it takes a while to find a category where Felix ‘Abbedagge’ Braun stands out. Well, if we’re not including win rate, of course, where 100 Thieves are tied with TSM for first.

For a mid laner, 3.1 kills per game is a prety low average (though it’s worth nothing he has played three games on Karma). He is tied with Xerxe for least deaths if we discount substitutes and role swaps, and the same goes for KDA, but in every other stat he’s somewhere near the middle of the pack.

So what’s the big deal? Is the Fakerdagge label just a meme?

Not exactly. See, although Faker, having stayed at T1 for so long, gets a lot of the credit for SKT’s historic success, what often gets overlooked is the fact that he was part of an exceptional team. T1 have tried rebuilding squads around him numerous times but never again found that winning recipe.

Through this lens, the comparisons make a lot of sense. Abbedagge is an important cog in a well-oiled machine, not the all-conquering European superstar some might have expected. This shouldn’t have been big news either. In Schalke’s playoff run last split, he wasn’t that much of a standout player, contributing roughly the same amount of damage as AD Carry Matúš ‘Neo’ Jakubčíkn and slightly less gold.

Looking back over his time with Schalke, what does hold true across Abbedagge’s professional career is that he is really good at not dying. In his first LEC split (Spring 2019), he averaged just 2.3 deaths per game. Granted, he only averaged 2.2 kills as well, but Schalke finished 7th that split and failed to make playoffs. He has always been a steady hand, including his final LEC split, where averaged 3.1 kills and 2.2 deaths.

What you get with Abbedagge is a promise. He is always going to do well in lane. He is always going to be a solid foundation for the rest of the team to build on. Even his champion pool bears this out, with his most played champions being Azir, Zoe and Orianna. All safe champions with few bad match-ups. He is rarely, if ever, going to be the reason 100T loses a game. He isn’t likely to be the direct reason for them winning games either, but that’s a worthwhile trade.

What is less clear is the idea that Ry0ma needed replacing. He had a rough start to his 100 Thieves career, but by the end of Summer 2021 his numbers didn’t look much worse than his replacement’s do now. The guy is clearly too good for Academy, posting multiple games with ten or more kills and a couple of deathless games.

From the outside, it seems as though Ry0ma was the scapegoat of some deeper-seated problems. After a couple of years in the wilderness, they were doing alright with his steadying influence in the mid lane. Don’t forget, in Spring this year they finished a respectable 4th place.

Something has definitely clicked with Abbedagge, though. Maybe it’s something that doesn’t show up in statistics, like camaraderie or team spirit. Whatever it is, there is no denying the fact that 100T have improved on the most important statistic of them all: friendship wins. With just one roster change, and a statistically negligible one, they are tied for first, having won their head-to-head.

Tellingly, in an interview with Travis Gafford, Closer noted that Abbedagge had improved both on and off Summoner’s Rift. He should know, having played with him together on Royal Bandits in 2017.

There is, of course, a very big Korean elephant in the room, though. While Abbedagge may have been the sole in-game change, Bok ‘Reapered’ Han-Gyu was a huge addition to the coaching staff of 100T. Known for both his success with Cloud 9 and his willingness to try out weird picks, it makes sense to see his new team playing things like Lee Sin and Vayne in the bottom lane. It also makes sense that he has them winning a lot.

In truth, 100T’s success hinges on a combination of factors. Abbedagge is but one of them. Reapered is another, arguably bigger  piece of the puzzle. Both of them are wrapped up with a neat little bow of intangible team spirit. The fact that two of the usual title contenders continue to struggle has surely helped, but that shouldn’t detract from the fact that 100 Thieves is a much-improved team with genuine hope of going back to Worlds.

day one of LEC was a blast :D

i missed the first fnc vs sk game because i was working so i tuned in at the end of the second game... and what a thrill that was. fnatic got smashed :’) it’s always a bit funny when the most hyped teams get kicked down... especially against a team everyone was like -who?- it’s the most fun one can have.

splyce won their game :D it wasn’t really a great game but sometimes you just have to destroy the team you playing against lol Love the see a smiling Norskeren :D that’s one of the few player i was scared we were gonna lose in the off season so i’m really happy to see him still around :)

vitality vs schalke was a such a fun game! i’m really looking forward schalke not just because of course Upset is a magician, but also Ignar and Abbedagge -!!!!- i’m hopeful for some awesome play from them too. the roster is exciting! their jersey still is so boring to look at though >_>

I lost my casual low key dislike of Vitality in the offseason (that’s sad) so i don’t get the same kick at seeing them lose -sigh- they played good i hope they have a good split :)

rogue vs misfit was a no surprise but still a bit difficult to watch. I just hope rogue can have a decent split but i have low hope for ‘em.

misfit is looking like a great team. I really like the Soaz / Maxlore / Hans Sama line up. i’m pretty meh over Febiven and Gorilla but they did play rather well that first game so yep yep. Their new jersey look great too, my fingers were twitching to buy one :D

g2 vs origen was a blast. i’m overjoy and a bit disappointed.

i’m not a fan of origen, they might take vitality’s place in my low key hate team feelings lol so seeing them get destroyed is a fun thing. 

i’m glad g2 won (dope jersey alert!) but i can’t help wishing they got destroyed on day one too. i’m always looking forward the fall of the most hyped team ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ anyway, after rekkles’ “broxah and hyllisang babied caps, he didn’t get my advice not to leave blabla” comment (salty rekkles was just too funny) i’m just glad caps won his first game (especially bc fnc lost. twice :P)

Real MVP of the night was the multiples pauses and fucked up overall :D Runner up goes to MediVedi :D (damn that pic of vedius faling asleep on Sjokz is the cutest!!) I’m so glad Froskeren is now on the eu broadcast i really enjoy her personality.

Anyway that’s my take on first day. I blab a lot, sorry :D

okay now that i've gotten home from work and had time to lament over XL's loss today i can say this

it feels like abbedagge coming in was the "refresher" that XL needed - whether this is true or not, the boys almost seemed more confident in how they played today

they played really well considering two of their players have covid + having to adapt to a new midlaner

its really giving "damonte coming in to save the mental of 2021 CLG" vibes, aka "midlaner who's mental hasn't been shot by the results of the team provides breath of fresh air and new pov to consider"

overall rating is a B, there are obv some things to work on still (they got a little bit ahead of themselves and def made some whoopsies that they couldn't come back from, had a hard time closing out the game), but they definitely look promising

i just hope that they're able to continue on that path, odo and limit recover soon, and vetheo is able to take a mental refresher for himself as well

LEC weekly review / week 8

はじめに

LECも残すところあと2週。プレイオフ出場の可否が決定するチームが出始め、最後の椅子を得るための条件も煮詰まって各試合の注目度が高まるラストスパートの時期でもある。ここにきて仕上がってきたチームがあれば当初の勢いを失っているチームもある。最終週に向けて加速していくWeek8を振り返る。

以下試合の結果を含む。

Day1

G2 vs SPY

　イレリア、ルブラン、カイ＝サととにかく飛び込んでいくチャンピオンを揃えるG2に対し、ジャーヴァンⅣやリサンドラといった集団戦でも有効な動きができ、かつCCを備えたチャンピオンを見せるSPYがWeek8初戦で激突した。中盤までの展開でG2はボットレーン側、SPYはトップレーン側でCSの差を作っていくが、G2はカーサスジャングルとルブランのラインがあと少しという所でキルを回収できないなど少々精彩を欠く様子を見せた。要所でG2は少数戦のキルを回収するものの、SPY側も育ったレネクトンの活躍やシヴィアのウェーブクリアでオブジェクトを守り続ける。そのまま試合が40分を超えるころにはシヴィアの手に6つの武器が揃い、G2がSPY側の圧力に耐えられない時間に到達。正面から当たったSPYがG2のネクサスを粉砕した。

S04 vs XL

　ジャングルとサポートがエンゲージ手段と前線を担当し、レーナーがダメージを出すオーソドックスな構成のS04に対し、XLはセジュア二に合わせる白兵チャンピオンをトップとミッドに、ボットはカシオペアを配置して、ダメージのバランスを取りながら少数戦を作りたい形を採用した。先に仕掛けたのはS04側だったが、XLはCaedrel選手が的確にカウンターエンゲージを決めて、逆にXL側が利を得る形でまずは試合が進む。そのままジリジリとXLが有利を広げるかと思われた中盤、リフトヘラルドを巡る戦闘でS04はUpset選手のカイ＝サがペンタキルを獲得して試合の流れを引き戻す。そこからはオブジェクトを交換し、互角のキル数で拮抗した状態で試合が長引いていった。しかし育った時にサイドレーンで圧倒的な影響力を発揮できるのはXL側のヤスオである。S04はジャングルとレーナーのコンビネーションでガンクを決めるようなシーンが少なく、ブラッドミアの装備が整うのが遅れたこともあって中盤に育ったカイ＝サ以外から有効なエンゲージを行うチャンスを見い出せなかった。逆にXL側がスレッシュ、セジュアニから積極的にエンゲージを仕掛けてリードを確保できたこともあり、最終的に試合に勝利した。

SK vs OG

　互いにポークと1-3-1を見すえた構成のチーム同士がぶつかった試合。SKの方がよりポーク寄りのチャンピオンを選び、OGはシヴィアの分だけアイテムが揃った時点での集団戦に強い構成となった。中盤までの試合はほぼ互角だったものの、ローテーションが続く中盤になるとルブラン、タム・ケンチ、レク＝サイを擁するOGの方が機動力の面で有利を作り始める。SKはミッドレーンにジェイスを充てたこともあって、ブリンクやバーストダメージという点でも対面のルブランの方が活きる場面が多くなった格好となった。サイドレーンの押し引きの主導権を握ったOGがバロンを釣り餌にバックドアを敢行、SKの反応を許さずに一気に勝利した。

VIT vs RGE

　VITがドレイヴン、ガリオ、ルブランと強力なチャンピオンを揃えればRGE側もカシオペア、スレッシュ、リサンドラと対面に対して有利を取れるピックを見せる。そして後半のピックではVITがトップオラフ、RGEがジャングルリヴェンを選択。それぞれのピックが及ぼす結果が注目される試合がスタートした。VITはトップレーン側を中心にガンク、カウンタージャングルを仕掛けて、まずはRGEのレネクトンを抑えることに成功し、そこからヘラルド獲得、ミッドの外側タワー破壊と綺麗にオブジェクトを確保していく。RGEも単独で行動しているチャンピオンをキャッチし、あるいは少数戦で反撃を試みたものの、育ったルブランやオラフを止めることはできなかった。

　念入りにHans Sama選手が使うマークスマンをバンし、自らは青側の有利を最大限に生かしてルシアンをFNCが確保。MSFは前半にジャーヴァンⅣ、ガリオ、カシオペアとフレックスピックを並べる。後半のピックでMSFがレネクトンを先出しした上でライズを確保。FNCはエイトロックス、セジュアニと中盤の少数ー集団戦をしやすい構成に。対するMSFはスプリットプッシュの1-3-1狙いという形になった。MSFとしてはミッドとトップでコントロールを取ってローテーションという展開をもくろんでいたのだが、sOAZ選手のレネクトンがエイトロックスに対してソロキルされるという展開でプランが崩れてしまう。その後もFNCはトップレーンのマッチアップで有利を広げるゲームを展開。MSFはテレポートを持てないライズと失速したレネクトンではサイドレーンを押すことが難しく、構成から意図したゲームを作ることができなかった。

Day2

MSF vs S04

　MSFがカリスタ＋ブラウムやブラッドミアといった戦闘重視のチャンピオンを揃えれば、S04もOdoamne選手にケネンを渡し集団戦でのプレッシャーを高めようという一戦。プレイオフ出場の境界で競り合うチーム同士が激突した。ミッドレーンのマッチアップはMSFのヤスオ側が有利なはずだが、ジャングルも含めたゲームメイクはジャーヴァンⅣを擁するS04が先手を取る試合となった。また、Odoamne選手は得意チャンピオンであるケネンで縦横無尽に活躍し集団戦で当たればS04が勝つという状況を作り上げることに成功。連敗ストップ、プレイオフ出場に向けた貴重な1勝はS04の手に転がり込んだ。

SK vs SPY

　ヨリックがサイドレーンを押し続け、ガリオやノクターンが圧力をかける構成のSK、対するSPYはケネン、エイトロックスと集団戦に向けたラインナップで激突した。SPYは勝てばプレイオフが確定となり、プレイオフ進出境界線上のSKは負けられない一戦である。SKは当然トップレーン側の圧力を高めていくが、射程の差もあって思うようにリードを広げることができない。SKがカイ＝サ、SPYがヴェインといずれも終盤はあらゆる敵を粉砕し得るハイパーキャリーを擁しており、僅かなズレやミスがあれば全滅というバランスの終盤、SKがバロンを行っていたところを見事に突いたSPYがSKから主導権を奪うことに成功。集団戦となればAoEダメージに優れるSPYが有利な構成である。もちろんカイ＝サもすさまじいダメージを出せる状態ではあったものの、ダメージを出す状況を作るという点ではサイドプッシュ重視のSKはエンゲージが難しく、不利を跳ね返すには至らなかった。

XL vs FNC

　強力なレーナーにセジュアニを合わせて少数戦を作っていける構成を採ったXLに対し、FNCも同様にレーンでのダメージ交換を仕掛けていくチャンピオンを並べ、ジャングルはセジュア二を見てからカーサスを合わせる選択とした。試合は序盤にFNCがインベードを成功させてキルを獲得、かつセジュアニの成長を遅らせることに成功する。FNCはヴェインのリードを広げるべくとにかくゴールドを集める。XLもカウンターの動きでオブジェクトを獲得できるものの、マークスマン同士の獲得ゴールド差を埋めることはできない。中盤以降はニーコもADビルドが整い、FNCがXLを押し切ってプレイオフへ大きく駒を進めた。

RGE vs OG

　レーンがこなせてユーティリティ性能もあるジャーヴァンⅣ、ライズをレーナーにADCはトリスターナ、ジャングルはアーデントセンサーがビルドに含められるアイバーンとマークスマンを支える構成を採用するRGE。対するOGは序盤のレーンから強気に押し込めるレネクトン、カリスタ＋ガリオにNukeduck選手が最後のピックでオリアナを選択し、早い段階からリードを作っていくチームを作った。RGEはOGのトップレーンにガンクを重ねてレネクトンを失速させようとするものの、カウンターガンクに入るレク＝サイにキルを取られてしまい目的を達成できない。ボットレーン側はルーン選択の違いもあって、OGのカリスタに莫大なファームを許してしまう。RGEはバロン前の戦闘で的確な反撃を見せるシーンもあったが、戦闘力の差が大きく逆転はできなかった。

VIT vs G2

　VIT、G2共に対象をキャッチして仕掛ける少数戦に向いたチャンピオンが揃った構成となった。試合はトップレーンでWunder選手のカミールに対してCabochard選手のジャーヴァンⅣがミスを的確に咎めてのソロキルから、トップレーン側を常にVITが支配する試合となった。カミールが執拗に狙われG2にとっては苦しい展開となったが、それでもカリスタとライズは捕まることなくゴールドを集め続ける。そしてVITがバロンベイトを仕掛けたところで痛烈な反撃に成功し、総獲得ゴールドは互角に。この頃には凹まされていたカミールもTFが完成し、バックラインへのプレッシャーは十分になっていた。しかし仕掛ける判断で冴えているVITと、剛力で跳ね返すG2という構図で、終盤は大量のキルとバロンを巡る混戦が続く。最後はバロンとベースで目まぐるしい攻防の末にG2が勝利。39分の試合で合計39キルの激戦を制した。

チーム評とプレイオフ

Week9を残すのみとなったので、気になったポイントとプレイオフ出場に関わるチームについて言及する。

G2（13-3）

　Week8のG2は以前よりも不安定なゲームをしており、VITには勝利したもののかなり危うい試合展開。SPY相手にも要所を詰めきれずにゲームを落とすという結果となっていた。この結果に関してはコーチのGrabbZ氏からコメントが出されており、2位以上が確定した段階でスクリム以外の練習についてはペースを落としているとのことだった。プレイヤーの体調やケガ（手首や肩を痛める選手は少なくない）への対処など、プレイオフ以降も続くシーズンを見すえているようだ。とりあえずはプレイオフに合わせて仕上げてくるはずだ。

プレイオフ出場を争う4チーム

FNC（9-7）

　現在5位で6連勝中。つまり3-7とかなり厳しい状態からここまで戻ってきているのは、主力の脱退を何度も経験している名門の組織力の高さといったところだろうか。あと1勝して10勝ラインに乗ればプレイオフ確定、9勝で並ぶのがSK以外のチームであれば直接対決の勝敗結果では互角と他の3チームよりは条件は良いと言えるだろう。チームとして勝てる状態を維持しているのも好材料だ。ただし、残り2試合はG2とSPY、共にかなりの難敵。勝てばプレイオフに向けて弾みがつくだけに、何としても勝ちたいカードである。

S04（8-8）

　S04はSpring Split前半こそ好成績で、一時は2位につけていたがその後低迷、Week8のDay2でようやく連敗を6で止めて現在6位である。強みがはっきりしている事、序盤のゲームメイクが弱いこと、新人ミッドレーンのAbbedagge選手がかなり狙われていて、かつフォローが上手く行っていない点など、ここ3週間は問題を突かれるゲームが続いてしまった。最終週はRGE、OG戦となっている。他の3チームと勝ち数で並んでも不利なカードは無いので、最低でも1勝して望みを繋ぎたい。

MSF（7-9）

　ロースターの豪華さでシーズン開幕時には大きな注目を集めたMSFだが、その後はパフォーマンスが安定せず苦しんでいる状態だ。sOAZ選手が得意とするタンクの出番が少ない環境で、サイオンが大きく弱体化された状況というのは向かい風と言わざるを得ない。もし9勝で並んだ場合はS04以外に対しては5分以上の結果が出ているのでまだ望みはある。最大の問題は、残った2試合がSPYとG2戦ということに尽きるだろう。G2のパフォーマンスは（コーチ陣の意図的な調整もあって）少々怪しいにしても、SPY戦も勝たなければならない。2勝が絶対条件なのだ。

SK（7-9）

　復帰1シーズン目としてはそんなに悪くない成績だと思うのだが、当初の予想通りSKがプレイオフ出場の分かれ目になりそうな気配である。他の3チームとの直接対決の結果を見ると、FNC (2-0)・S04 (1-1)・MSF (0-2)となっており勝ち数で並ぶチームによって明暗が大きく分かれることになる。いずれにせよ勝ちを増やさないことには始まらないのでRGE、そしてVIT戦に勝利してプレイオフへの切符を勝ち取りたいところである。

Week8終了時の順位表。4チームの中から2チームが最後のチケットを獲得することになる。

League of Legends: Şampiyonluk Ligi Ekipleri

            2019 yılında Türkiye League of Legends arenasında yeni bir rekabet modeline geçileceği ve Şampiyonluk Ligi ile oyuncu yetiştirme motivasyonunun hakim olduğu Akademi Ligi’nin paralel olarak işleyeceği duyurulmuştu. 19 Ocak 2019 tarihinde başlayacak olan ligde mücadele edecek takımları kısaca inceledik.

SON ŞAMPİYON YİNE FAVORİ

            Kış Mevsim Finallerinde son üç senedir rakiplerine kaybetmeyen Bahçeşehir SuperMassive, unvanını 2019 yılında da devam ettirmeyi hedefliyor. Yerli oyuncu kontenjanını tecrübeli oyuncular fabFabulous, Stomaged ve Zeitnot ile oluşturan ekip yabancı oyuncu hakkını oldukça stratejik kullandı. SKT T1 ekibinin daha önce iki defa dünya şampiyonluğu yaşamış oyuncusu Wolf’un boşta kalmasıyla anında harekete geçen SuperMassive yönetimi destek rolünü bu transfer ile kuvvetlendirmiş oldu. Orta koridora ise 1907 Fenerbahçe Espor’un yıldızı Frozen’ı getiren ekip önümüzdeki sene için MSI ve Dünya Şampiyonası hesaplarını yapmaya şimdiden başlamış gibi görünüyor.

ÜÇ BÜYÜKLER SÜRPRİZ PEŞİNDE

            Futboldan oldukça aşina olduğumuz üç büyük İstanbul kulübü de yaptıkları transferlerle yeni sezonda rakiplerine göz dağı verdiler. Dört mevsim turnuvasının ardından yeniden Şampiyonluk Ligi’nde mücadele etme şansı yakalayan Beşiktaş, alt koridorda Holyphoenix – Korpse ikilisini en önemli silahı olarak görüyor. Tam tersine Fenerbahçe ise geçtiğimiz sezonun en iyi ormancısı Kirei’yi renklerine bağlayarak koridorlardan ziyade orman odaklı bir strateji izleyeceğinin sinyalini vermiş oldu. Ayrıca ekibin eski oyuncularından Japone’nin destek rolüne geçmek üzere kulübe geri döndüğünü ve kaptanlık görevini üstleneceğini de belirtelim.

            Son olarak tecrübeli kadrosuna rağmen Galatasaray ise ezeli rakiplerine nazaran daha az şans verilen bir konumda bulunuyor. Üst koridorda yeni transferi Hioss ile iddialı olacak ekip alt koridoru da Madness-Cognac ikilisine emanet etti. Üç takım da hali hazırda ligin favorileri arasında görülmeseler de rakiplerini zorlayacak potansiyele sahip olduklarını söylemek yanlış olmayacaktır.

BURSASPOR’DA KÖKLÜ DEĞİŞİM

            Genç kadrosuyla geçtiğimiz yaz mevsiminde playofflara yükselerek sezonu çeyrek finalde tamamlayan ekip, bu sezon kadrosunda köklü değişikliklere imza attı. Geçen sezon kadroda yedek olarak bulunan Pilter haricindeki tüm oyuncuları ile yollarını ayıran yönetim, daha önce Galakticos formasıyla izlediğimiz Olia ve Viking’i kadrosuna kattı. Orta koridor tercihini Polonyalı oyuncu Zwyroo’dan yana kullanan ekip, destek rolüne ise daha önce Dark Passage koçu olarak şampiyonluk yaşamış emekli oyuncu Auspex’i getirdi. Bursaspor’un büyük final yolculuğuna fazla şans verilmese de kurduğu ilginç kadronun lige oldukça renk getireceği tahmin ediliyor.

GALAKTICOS VE AURORA GERİ DÖNDÜ

            2018 yılında Yükselme Ligi’ne düşen iki ekip önümüzdeki sene Şampiyonluk Ligi’nde yoluna devam edecek. Doğuş Üni Aurora bünyesinde kabus gibi bir sezon geçiren Naru ve ligin ikonik alt koridorlarından Ruvelius-Zergsting ikilisini kadrosuna katan Galakticos, geçen sezon yaşanan hayal kırıklığını şimdiden unutturmaya başlamış gibi görünüyor. Avrupa LCS şampiyonluklarıyla bilinen G2 Esports takımının yıldız ormancısı Trick de Galakticos ekibinin en büyük kozları arasında gösteriliyor.

            Doğuş Üni Aurora ise yıldız oyuncusu Naru ile yollarını ayırdıktan sonra ligin diğer ekiplerine nazaran daha mütevazı bir kadro kurmayı tercih etti. Genel olarak stratejisini Fenerbahçe 1907 Espor ekibinden transfer ettikleri nişancı oyuncu Padden üzerine şekillendirecek olan takımın önümüzdeki sene içerisinde ağırlıklı olarak Akademi Ligi’ne yoğunlaşması bekleniyor.

EFSANELER ESKİ GÜNLERİNİ ARIYOR  

            League of Legends’ın ülkemizde popülerlik kazanmaya başladığı ilk dönemlerde turnuvaları domine eden iki köklü ekip Dark Passage ve HWA Gaming de bu sezon Şampiyonluk Ligi’nde kozlarını paylaşacak. Elwind, fabFabulous, Wtcn ve Zeitnot gibi yıldız oyuncuları ülkemize kazandıran HWA Gaming, gençleri profesyonel esporun üst basamaklarına taşımayı yeniden misyon edinmiş gibi görünüyor. 13 kişilik kadrosunun tamamını genç ve tecrübesiz oyunculardan kuran ekip hedefinin daha uzun vadeli olacağına dair sinyalleri de vermiş oldu.

            Arenanın diğer köklü ekiplerinden Dark Passage ise yaklaşık iki yıllık aranın ardından tecrübeli ormancı Crystal ile yeniden bir araya geldi. 2014 ve 2015 yıllarında Crystal Meth takma adıyla hatırladığımız oyuncu, Dark Passage ekibinin şampiyonluklarında önemli rol üstlenmişti. Ayrıca Dark Passage yönetimi daha önce Crystal’ın Pars Esports ekibinde beraber forma giydiği takım arkadaşı Saulius’u da kadrosuna dahil etti. İki ismin köklü ekibi nereye taşıyacağı şimdiden merak edilirken, teknik heyetin resmi kanallardan yaptığı açıklamalara göre Akademi Ligi’nde mücadele etmek üzere ayrıca yedi kişilik özel bir kadronun kurulduğu da belirtildi.

ROYAL YOUTH ŞAMPİYONLUĞU İSTİYOR

             Geçtiğimiz sezon ligde Royal Bandits ismi altında mücadele eden ekip her iki mevsimde üst düzey bir performans gösterse de playoff finallerinde SuperMassive ekibine kaybetmekten kurtulamamıştı. Yıldız oyuncuları Broken Blade ve Abbedagge ile yollarını ayıran Royal Youth, beklendiği gibi iddialı transferlerle kadro gücünü korumayı başardı. SuperMassive ile çifte şampiyonluk yaşayan GBM takımın orta koridoruna geçerken, LCK’nın tecrübeli nişancılarından Pilot da alt koridorda görev alacak. Ormancı Closer ve destek Dumbledoge ile yola devam eden ekip, üst koridor için de sürpriz bir hamle yaparak daha önce emekliye ayrıldığını açıklayan Elwind’i kadrosuna dahil etti.
