First of all welcome! I’m Emrys (they/them) and this blog is for my disaster of a warlock Merlin (he/him). Here’s a quick rundown about both the blog and then some things about Merlin himself!

Purpose 

So, what is this blog for? Its mostly to answer questions about Merlin and congregate pieces of writing about him! (and also as a place to put all of the little snippets I haven’t done anything with) So please, feel free to ask him anything!

I will also be answering so out of character questions if they’re about Merlin (esp. if you’re asking me to clarify something)! But if you just have a question I ask that you take em to @ichorcoverednotes

But it will also occasionally feature some writing and the occasional aesthetic

Timeline

I’m playing  little fast and loose with this, but for those from vtnh, this takes place well after the rift jump and after some currently [redacted] information. For those more subjected to my scheming, it’s after [cowboy redacted] but I’m not sure how long after.

What to ask or How/Why would they be in contact?

What     Again! Feel free to ask anything, even just random things like his favorite even letter. Hell feel free to threaten Merlin if its in character. 

How     Luckily tech this advanced is a thing in Astraphel. Aside from that, Merlin does jobs on a commision basis so there’s a number of places you could have gotten his contact info

Why     I’m sure some of you would do it simply to bother him, but a handful of you may actually want to commission him. If you do, he does a number of things, such as warding, permanent memory work, murder, and body guarding/safe guarding. 

Merlin

The Merlin in this blog is for @the-nerf-house‘s lore, but the character himself is from a long term NaNoWriMo project of mine most simply known as Forget-Me-Nots. While the novel itself doesn’t work with The Pantheon’s Lore, his backstory has stayed mostly intact. so you might see some snippets from Forget-Me-Nots here and there. 

Merlin Ambrose, also known as The Scribe of Chaos, is a dragon born warlock and among the eldest of the pantheon. His past is bitter and bloody, but an important part of who he is today.

While he is well versed in many kinds of magic, he uses it sparingly. This comes from blood magic and draconic magic being his primary magics. Both are demanding and temperamental with the after effects of improper use often being deadly. Also of note is his proficiency with fire magic as he on occasion accidently lights things on fire. 

He spends much of his time in The House, enough that many believe it to be his (it’s actually Penn’s), combing through their extensive library and working on magical theory. The rest of he time is often spent drinking or partaking in dubious activities.

general fun fact! we literally had to make ourselves a powerpoint (and multiple google sheets but shh we dont talk about those) cause we keep forgetting our own fukcking lore

the important thing to know abt astraphel is that its full of ppl willing to commit to the bit. this is why a major god who made literal weapons for war invented fucking COFFEE.

from a meta standpoint, they’re part of an collaborative oc world w/ my friends in a world called Astraphel (you can see the world specific aesthetic tag #astraphelcore (and other characters in the world in there) and weaver’s own specific tag #weavercore)

we’ve translated the world into dnd context, but thats not important rn, all you need to know is;

The Weaver of Tapestries (their real name is lost/[REDACTED]/delt away) is a mortal turned god who has always had prophetic-like visions of a pantheon of gods before they are gods. They paint murals, weave tapestries, all centered around these soon-to-be divine figures.

But here’s the thing, there is already an existing pantheon. Which only means that everything they create is considered heresy. Idiotic even.

That doesn’t stop them from creating anyway, and effectively, they declared a war on the old gods. 

^thaaaats the basics of weaver specific! let it be known that im only BARELY scratching the surface of this story right now! in astraphel there are so many other characters that i hope to get deep into and tell bc honestly? THEY DESERVE IT!!!!

something funny: our designated death god is a teenager

something cool: nearly if not all pantheon members have a title name (ex. the weaver of tapestries, the voice of song sleep and sea, the matron of death) for whatever reason, the names they were given to at birth is lost to time/stolem from them/whatever the fuck. there are some special cases where they keep their name, but its very rare
