I personally like Thunder's prosthetic. Explained it to my friend (who does use a mobility device, a cane and wheelchair, and listens to me rant and infodump about BB) and they agreed, it's important to know that not every person needs what someone wants to give them. It's another example of "bad ableist person does a thing that hurts a disabled person because they are bad and ableist".

Clear Sky got Jagged Peak killed and would have killed Sunlit Frost! He would absolutely force his disabled son to be "normal" and present it like a privilege. "I wouldn't do this for anyone else, it's special, why don't you want to be helped?"

Thunder Storm should toss it in Clear Sky's face. (I would say toss it into the river but we do not pollute waterways in this house)

Since BB!DOTC tackles some of the heaviest topics in the entire series because its canon equivalent is so dark, I think very carefully about what I do here and how I show it. I take feedback on its sensitive aspects very seriously. If I'm understanding the criticism properly, it's that I should avoid stigmatizing prosthetics by making sure Thunder Storm's not the only one with it-- which he's not! And I'll add even more.

I don't want to avoid something only because it's uncomfortable if the topic is important, and my portrayal is respectful. Ableism IS uncomfortable! There are some situations where a prosthetic is not wanted! I think the rejection of this particular one is both a good opportunity to show a type of ableism and ALSO is very fitting for the characters.

In BB!Clear Sky's mind, the villain, he's fixing an old mistake. He can't admit that he got Jagged Peak killed or take REAL accountability for it (though he will, occasionally, apologize insincerely), but deep in his bones, he knows what he did was cruel. He'll never tell anyone this because he doesn't really cognate it himself, but Thunder Storm NEEDS to take his gift.

If Thunder doesn't take it, it blows a hole in his newest story. You see, throwing Jagged Peak out was All That Could Have Been Done back then. It was a Tragedy and he simply Made A Hard Choice. He regrets it very much, But You Have To Understand.

But now? Now? Well, behold. Look at what he's accomplished since the tragic death of his little brother. His cats are well-fed, cared for, and stable enough to make such incredible advancements. If only Jagged Peak had been able to hold on longer, if only he could be here now, I could fix him.

Just like I can (MAKE YOU JUST LIKE ME) fix you.

"Everything I've ever done is for Jagged Peak. For Fluttering Wing. For you." Thunder Sky is SPECIAL, but if he rejects any gift, tries to turn down the "privileges" offered to him, in an instant that becomes ungratefulness and arrogance. He both forces him to be special, and then leverages it against him if it's rejected. "Spoiled brat, doesn't appreciate what I've worked so hard to give him."

It all goes back to him and his own guilt. He can NEVER be wrong. He can't accept his family doesn't have to be "normal" or reflect his own ability. He won't see himself as a bully, let alone a murderer. It was never about his son's comfort or finding out what Thunder Storm wants or needs, it was about his own ego.

...All that said I'm still taking feedback if there's anything else I should keep in mind, or if anyone has a counter point, especially if you also have experience here.

His voice wobbles and hitches at the end, and Shigeo shifts, widens his eyes a little, but then his partner is moving. He leans over Shigeo’s chest, arches over the cracks that seep with energy carefully. Both of his hands are suddenly around his face and Teruki’s clamping his eyes shut and pressing their foreheads together, nose to nose, soul to soul. His hair tickles Shigeo’s jaw and his knee digs into his thigh, but it doesn’t matter. He doesn’t mind. The coral hues sing; the golds roar. “Please don’t. Please don’t do that to me,” his partner teeters, and the watermelon seeping into his skin is now tainted with harsher reds, deeper magentas. He can tell Teruki is trying so hard to keep it light, to keep it gentle and comforting for him—controlling an aura when emotions are high is one of the hardest things in the world. And yet he’s holding his partner, who is crackling apart at the seems in every sense of the word, and all that seeps from him is a little fear that get snuffed out instantly upon exit.

If there is at least one thing I can credit FE for doing better than Tales in localization, it's not trying to actively go out of their way for an entire game to avoid subtext or direct text between two men that is romantic or implied romantic. Funny when it's so present that the attempt doesn't even work; infuriating that it was attempted to begin with.

So as much as I often have issues with some of FE's localizations, at least they have a leg up on loc Tales for that.

I was thinking about late game Meanie Greenies. Linda accuses the local government of biological warfare in creating tiny super soldiers, which is absolutely wrong, but she’s just so nosy and full of science fiction media. So, they get arrested for sneaking into top secret areas, and by “they” I mean Linda forced Ryan in there, while clearing out the offices of Greenies. So there’s a level where they catch greenies in prison before having their boss sign for their release.

At the same time, the government asked of the professors at the local university if they studied or heard of these Greenies before and all eyes turn to Professor Walter who has been obsessively experimenting and theorizing about Greenies origins ever since they first appeared. So, they give him a bath and the college allows him a bigger room to continue his research with the help of his star pupils and Lewis.

After getting the two out of prison, the governor tells Ryan and Linda the truth behind the documents. It’s revealed that the entire town was quarantined way before the first chapter where the neighborhood was quarantined. The government didn’t know how to handle the situation, so they just shut off all contact to prevent spread. And it is also revealed that the Greenies are in fact aliens from space that came crashing here through a meteor.

It flips back to the college where Garret tells about his theory, Professor Walter explains how long he’s been observing the greenies, and Jay and Lewis reveal that they saw the meteor when it first landed before it disappeared suddenly. Suggesting, maybe thats why all the Greenies look like Lewis.

A giant rumble shakes up the town, all the characters feel it and go outside. And the second to last chapter begins.

Thank you! Things are going okay. College is hard. I'm busy all the time, but that hasn't stopped me from writing. Despite my own insistence that I take a break, it didn't work out well lol...

So in between study sessions, I hack away at my longfic project. I have around 20k words so far, and it stars everyone's favorite narrator. It's not going to be released until it's at least 90% done, because I have a tendency to shift plot points and move chapters around during this phase of writing. And unless someone can come up with a convincing argument, no sneak peaks! So far the only people who've seen it are close friends.

The goal, which is high and lofty and will probably be missed- is to have more than 50k words by the time summer rolls around. Then over the summer, i'll be releasing chapters. Depending on how long my TSP obsession lasts, that may be the pattern going forward. I have no idea who will still be in the strong grasp of the fandom by the time I start actually releasing stuff, but- this is a story for me, not an audience.

Did you know I have 5 different longfic ideas involving him? and I don't mean 5 ideas for this one story, I mean five very separate AUs which require a crapton of worldbuilding. I've joked with a friend that i'll be creating my own 'narratorverse', but good lord, have I got my work cut out for me.

I'm doing my best to hold my head high, and make new friends. The narrator is still rattling around in my head, and as i've ranted on about in the past, he's not keen to leave. I've been using him as a lifeline a lot in the past few weeks, as I navigate school.

Overall, I'm hopeful for the future, but sleepy. Being a student means being chronically sleepy.

Also it's illegal to care about me. Not allowed. No one can care, it's forbidden. Emotionally. (this is a joke. the reminders are appreciated. but man do i get shy and blushy when people tell me.)

I may at one point or another start asking people for suggestions on what to write. this is dangerous territory, what with what happened with headcanons. but it's hard to have a clear perspective when your world is one location. dorms, studyhalls, etc. and i'm sure some of you have some brilliant ideas. we'll get to that bridge when we get to it.

Can I say that it’s annoying that almost everyone is talking about Upstead ending? I get it, it’s true but Jesse’s departure from a show means Jay won’t be on a show anymore and he’s so much more than half of a ship! I’m gonna miss Jay - the great officer, the good husband (because as much as I love him, he’s not a great husband yet - they both should do some therapy to fully be happy and in healthy relationship IMO), the good friend but almost every tweet or post is ‘oh no, we won’t get upstead any more’ and I get it, believe me, but we shouldn’t forget that Jay is so much more than Upton’s husband

It's annoying to me too, but it's an annoyance I'm attributing to just liking Jay for different reasons fans of upstead do-- because I know that if it was me, I'd probably be focusing atm on mourning the ship. Emotions are high after news like this and usually people do focus on the devastation to their ship more than the character. Like for instance with svu, I love Amanda for everything she is outside of carisi and I hate that her badass self will no longer be on the show, what's keeping me up at night with a hurting heart is rollisi. That doesn't mean I forget that she's more than his partner, but it's just that it's what's at the forefront of my mind in these painful moments.

So for the most part I'm trying not to let my annoyance at how majority of people seem to just be talking about upstead, and the effect it will have on upstead, and mourning the plots only related to upstead, because I get it and also I'm trying to give people in these emotional times more benefit because everything is still raw rn. Especially bc I don't particularly care for upstead, so them ending has no effect on me, but I do have affection for jay as a character, so that's what I'll mourn.

But that's not to say that I don't agree with you. Characters are more than their ship, and Jesse's leaving is a huge sadness because of his character, not just because of the ship. And I do hope that in the coming weeks I'll see more posts/tweets about his character too but in this initial moment, it's understandable to see more stuff about the ship, as frustrating and annoying as that can be!!

I tried to like steroline but the writing was terrible and I didn’t feel the chemistry in the later seasons. I also hate how the writers shat on both Stelena and forwood for them to happen.
