experiment: antique papyrus, 23.5 K Gold keaf, Roetel (red bole) black iron oxide and titanium white ink first step of experimental painting The antique papyrus is made by leaving the papyrus stripes in water for a few days, until fermentation starts (smells a bit rotten). No chemicals added. A brown color is the result. Looks almost like wood. first tests of painting on real papyrus. This is not a finished psinting, I was just trying out stuff. Reed pen, glass dip pen, fountain.pen, watercolors, acrylic pigment inks.. I like it. The colors stay very vibrant, they are not sucked into the "paper", it dries fast and doesn't wrinkle too much. Maybe I put a priming layer of white pigmrent with casein binder on one of of the next sheets. I think it could be used for fast abstract stuff. For that I think it might have advantages over modern paper. For more detailed painting with more layers the modern paper might be better. "abstract night" new mefhod seems to work. Painting on black primed paper. The primer was made from coarse ground slate, black acrylic color, black iron oxide powder, milk and India ink. The surface can be painted with watercolors, inks, gouache, actylics andxwith the primer itself. yarn painting experiment finished and new painting in progress. I tried a few things with the yarn painting. I used small glass balls and coarse ground Copal resin. I probably won't use the methods again soon. Maybe I will use the yarn painting for the background of a glass painting in future, but now I want to test out the possibilities of painting on black primed paper. I used coarse ground slate, black acrylic paint, India ink, milk and black Iron oxide for the background. experimenting with structures again. I made a thick structure paint from acrylic titanium white, ground Carrara marble and powdered white chalk.
