“Mordecai” The first piece in the ceramic family. Created out of an accident in which I dropped him causing the shape of the mouth. This is what gave me the idea of adding faces to my pieces. The carving was an experimentation in 2D design and 3D sculpture.

My Roman glass collection has expanded and now includes some larger beads to go with the Roman Greyware pottery beads and clay pipe stem beads I upcycled from recent field walk finds. This glass was also upcycled from archaeological sites where excess material is dug up during excavations and turned into beads. first tests of painting on real papyrus. This is not a finished psinting, I was just trying out stuff. Reed pen, glass dip pen, fountain.pen, watercolors, acrylic pigment inks.. I like it. The colors stay very vibrant, they are not sucked into the "paper", it dries fast and doesn't wrinkle too much. Maybe I put a priming layer of white pigmrent with casein binder on one of of the next sheets. I think it could be used for fast abstract stuff. For that I think it might have advantages over modern paper. For more detailed painting with more layers the modern paper might be better. “Tim” was my first piece to utilize gold leaf with ceramics. Built using the strip method he is one whole piece, the head, hat and body are all connected and were fired as one piece. It was a risky move and explosion was a possibility but he survived 3 different times in the kiln.
