1- I had a SEVERE vitamin D deficiency. Yall can probably imagine the jokes I have had to endure for this.
2- my sugar and AC1 were through the roof so I had to go back and get more blood tests done to determine if I am somehow suddenly a diabetic so thats fun.

Diabetes Type 1 v/s Type 2: top concerned topic!
Diabetes mellitus (DM) mostly known as diabetes take place because of high blood sugar which is harmful to a human being.
Types of diabetes
there are three main types of diabetes namely :
~TYPE 1 DIABETES
~TYPE 2 DIABETES
~ Gestational Diabetes
~Type 1 diabetes
type 1 diabetes is taking place only because of failure of the pancreas and start production of more insulin due to lack of beta-cell.  it is also known as insulin-dependent diabetes
Treatment of type 1 diabetes: involves injecting insulin into the fatty tissue just under your skin. You might use :
Syringes
Insulin pens that use prefilled cartridges and a thin needle
Jet injectors that use high-pressure air to send a spray of insulin through your skin
Pumps that send insulin through a tube to a catheter under the skin of your belly
~TYPE 2 DIABETES
in type 2 diabetes pancreas usually creates some insulin. But either it’s not enough or your body doesn’t use it as it should. Insulin resistance, when your cells don’t respond to insulin, usually happens in fat, liver, and muscle cells.it is also known as non-insulin-dependent or adult-onset diabetes
People who are obese -- more than 20% over their target body weight for their height -- have an especially high risk of type 2 diabetes and the health problems that can follow. Obesity often causes insulin resistance, so your pancreas has to work harder to make more insulin. But it’s still not enough to keep your blood sugar levels where they should be.
Treatment for type 2 diabetes involves keeping a healthy weight, eating right, and exercising. Some people need medication, too.
Your doctor might do an AC1 TEST a few times a year to see how well you’ve been controlling your blood sugar.

New IRS guidance expands high deductible health plan HSA options for treatment of chronic medical conditions
Arthritis is one of the more common chronic medical conditions that millions of Americans face. There are treatments before you get to the joint replacement stage, but those recurring medical costs can add up, too.
I finally filed away all the paper copies of last year's tax documentation and for the first time, I had more medical paperwork than work receipts.
Yep, 2018 (like 2017) was one of those medical years. And while I'm still enriching various Austin doctors, labs and hospitals with follow-up care in 2019, my conditions aren't considered chronic. Yet.
And no, basic aging doesn't count.
A chronic medical condition generally is one where the disease lasts for more than three months.
Tumblr media
More help covering chronic health issues: The good news for folks with chronic illnesses is that medical science has ways to alleviate at the symptoms, if not fully cure the diseases, with preventative care.
Those treatments, however, can be expensive.
This week, the U.S. Treasury Department took steps to ease some of that medical cost pressure.
Certain sufferers of chronic conditions, specifically those who have a high deductible health plan (HDHP) and associated health savings account (HSA), now have more access to their plans to cover their preventative care costs.
The insurance specifics were announced July 17 in Internal Revenue Service Notice 2019-45, which provides more flexibility in paying for such treatments as glucose or blood-pressure monitors and regular medications for such ailments as asthma, congestive heart failure and diabetes.
That's welcome news to the growing number of HDHP participants, many of whom deal with chronic illnesses.
HDHP popularity: There's been a growing shift to HDHPs as medical insurance costs have increased.
Around 20 million Americans have opted for this coverage and its accompanying HSA option because HDHP premiums typically are lower than the monthly payments for traditional medical insurance.
To cover the higher deductible, an HDHP participant can open an HSA. In addition to paying for out-of-pocket medical costs, an HSA offers tax advantages, three in fact.
First, the money you put into the medical account is tax free. This is usually done through salary deferral at your workplace. The amount is taken out of your paycheck before taxes are calculated. If you make HSA contributions directly, the amount you contribute are tax-deductible.
Second, the earnings on the money you contribute to your HSA grows tax free.
Third, when you use the HSA money to pay allowable out-of-pocket medical expenses, those withdrawals also are tax-free.
HDHP problems: For many, this HDHP/HSA coverage works out well, both medically and for their financial well-being.
But when a chronic illness appears, an HDHP's steep deductible becomes problematic. It can be difficult to overcome, leaving people with chronic illnesses footing preventative care costs out of their own pockets.
With this week's announcement, HDHP participants now can use their HSA dollars to pay for certain preventative treatments before they meet the deductible.
Plan payments eased: The expanded list of preventive care benefits that can be provided by an HDHP are:
Preventive Care for Specified Conditions For Individuals Diagnosed with Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) inhibitors Congestive heart failure, diabetes, and/or coronary artery disease Anti-resorptive therapy Osteoporosis and/or osteopenia Beta-blockers Congestive heart failure and/or coronary artery disease Blood pressure monitor Hypertension Inhaled corticosteroids Asthma Insulin and other glucose lowering agents Diabetes Retinopathy screening Diabetes Peak flow meter Asthma Glucometer Diabetes Hemoglobin Ac1 testing Diabetes International Normalized Ratio (INR) testing Liver disease and/or bleeding disorders Low-density Lipoprotein (LDL) testing Heart disease Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) Depression Statins Heart disease and/or diabetes
In making the coverage change and adding new preventative care options payable from an HSA, representatives from Treasury, the IRS and the Department of Health and Human Services said they chose care that was low cost and likely to prevent the chronic illness from getting worse or the patient from developing a secondary condition that required higher cost treatments.
The three federal agencies will review and add or subtract from the list periodically, according to the notice.
More than patients are pleased: The change also was welcomed not only by ailing HDHP participants, but also by doctors, health benefits providers, employers and insurance companies.
When chronically ill patients forgo treatments because of costs, they often face more serious — and more expensive — conditions. Complications from not taking preventative medications can lead to limb amputation, blindness, heart attacks and strokes.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) says 6 in 10 U.S. adults have a chronic disease. Four in 10 two or more chronic ailments.
Such persistent illnesses are a major reason for the country's increasing health care costs.
From the workplace perspective, a study found that full-time workers with untreated chronic diseases cost employers $153 billion in lost productivity each year.
"Pre-existing, chronic conditions are debilitating for millions of Americans. These conditions also represent an enormous drain on the economy through high health costs and reduced employee productivity," said James A. Klein, president of the American Benefits Council, in a statement following the Treasury and IRS announcement.
"Modernizing HSAs to address chronic disease prevention is important to help tackle this problem," added Klein. "We remain committed to working with the Administration and Congress to build on this guidance and make HSAs more flexible."

Must have for anyone diagnosed with diabetes or just wants knowledge about the disease - A MUST READ! It's a life saver!!! Quite a few years back I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes that was actually brought on by my last pregnancy but it took doc's 6 yrs to figure out this was my problem. I was shocked to hear the diagnosis and after diagnosed the doc's handed me 5 prescribed medications just like that. I took the meds for about a month and knew these meds and all the info I was being given about Diabetes was WRONG! It just didn't make sense to me! I stopped taking all the meds and began my own research on Type 2 Diabetes and that is how I found this book! I read everything that related to Type 2 Diabetes and implimented what I read IMMEDIATELY and never looked back. After 3 months I wen back to the doctor and they drew my blood again. I told them "I DON'T HAVE DIABETES ANYMORE!" The doc looked at me and said: Yea right!... he was just like that, very comfortable with me. I then left. A week or so later I got my blood test results in the mail and my DIABETES WAS GONE and I had lost 17lbs. Go to Amazon
and her blood sugar control is much better. We anticipate her next A1c to be in ... This book, and his others, should be required reading for all diabetics. Full of information that most of the medical profession seems to never mention. As a life long diabetic (type 1), he practices this approach and states that his medical practice is focused on treating diabetics. Go to Amazon
Make some changes This is my last diabetes book purchase! Now I will just purchase low carb recipe books as I plan to make this my diet for life. Thank you Dr. Bernstein, for giving me hope that I can live a normal life with this "condition". After I read this book and began to check my blood sugar before and after eating, I found hidden carbohydrates in everything and have now tailored my diet to fit my needs, and I immediately eliminated some of my medications. Go to Amazon
The Diabetes Diet: Dr. Bernstein's Low-Carbohydrate Solution When I first bought this book I was following to the letter so to say and I was getting results! Then I fell of the wagon and things started getting bad again. Saw the results of my blood work when I was being good at home and when I started eating out at family and friends. LOL I need to just eat at home so I am not tempted. This book will definitely help you if you follow it and don't let others say what harm is there in sneaking a bite of pie/candy/ice cream etc that you know darn well you should do. Now I am back on the diet but, it is going to be hard cause Christmas is coming. Going to have to pack my own salad and vegetable to take with me if I am to survive. I know if you can follow this diet you will see a difference. Go to Amazon
Will Change your Type 2 Life! Dr. Bernstein knows his stuff! I was blowing up the AC1 test at 13! I was a nervous wreck about my crazy Sugar numbers and not getting much help from my Dr.! He was ready to fire away with pills and insulin! I got online and found everything I could about Type 2 and this Doctor, who has had Diabetes since he was 12 years old (77 now), is incredible! He is not worried about meds, pushing is own agenda, his own products but getting you on the right diet! In just 3 months following his free advice from his online articles (I bought the book later) I was at 6.6%! My sugar count down from 400's to 125 consistently each morning. I never told my Dr. that I refused to take the insulin! Dr. Bernstein has figured out the diet issue! Go to Amazon
This book has some good recipes and some of the information from his diabetes ... I guess this could be the companion book to "Dr Bernstein's Diabetes Solution" which is an absolute, positive must read if you are serious about learning about diabetes. This book has some good recipes and some of the information from his diabetes solution book. Dr Bernstein was diagnosed with type one diabetes when he was 12 years old (1946 I think). If he had continued to eat the way his doctors recommended he would have been dead long ago. He figured out on his own he could control his diabetes by controlling the amount and type of carbs he ate. He wrote a paper on what he had learned (by now he was an engineer) but couldn't get it published because he wasn't a doctor. So at 45 he entered medical school. He opened his medical practice at age 50 and at age 81 is still treating only diabetes patients. The American Diabetes Association recommends a diabetic eat 45-60 grams of carbs a meal and adjust the amount if it raises blood sugar. IF it raises blood sugar? One gram of carbohycrates raises blood sugar a 140 lb adult 5 mg/dl. Sixty grams of carbs would raise the blood sugar of that 140 lb adult to 300. That's insane. Dr Bernstein's diet is 6 grams of carbs for breakfast, 12 for lunch and 12 for supper. If you don't already have his first book, order them both. They are worth much more than the cost. If I could give his books 10 stars I would. Go to Amazon
Most recipes are very easy with few ingredients Five Stars Five Stars 10 stars Great book I learned all of this the hard way like he did Best diabetic advice out there Great book Five Stars Three Stars

A remarkable book by a remarkable man Dr Bernstein, an industrial engineer with type 1 diabetes was on his way to a premature death when he laid hands on one of the first portable blood sugar meters. That was the start of a rigorous process during which he determined an optimal diet for himself and also the start of a remarkable story on how he saved his own life. Now, more than forty years later he is in his seventies and is alive and well. Go to Amazon
The real truth about diabetic diets. Hugely helpful Huge help to those who need real diet advice. WAY BETTER than Amer Diab Assn. They need to modify a lot, with carbs way less. Go to Amazon
This is the only way to go. In the past, I reduced my A1C from 10.2 to 7 in a month of this diet. The recipes are awesome, love the cheese bread! Go to Amazon

A Definite Plan for Diabetics - It works! Excellent book and diabetic plan. I started with my diabetic number in the 200's. Within one week, I was down to 130's. You need to follow it closely and take your blood sugar at least six times to find out what foods are spiking you - once you do, it's a home run. Go to Amazon
