HAPPY 100 WEEKS OF ACUP!

We officially kick off that milestone on Sunday, and with it our Miami Week. Below the cut you’ll find a wealth of IC and OOC information about how the characters are getting to Miami, where they’ll be staying, and the happenings for each day of the week. 

OOC INFORMATION

While the overall ACup verse is rooted in reality, we ask that you have a bit of flexibility when it comes to this celebratory event. As such:

April, Serena, and Sugar are fronting the majority of costs for this trip. Specific costs they’re covering/not covering can be found below in the IC info section.

The NYC Public Schools’ final day for students is technically Wednesday, June 26, but for all intents and purposes related to the game, as noted on the weekly update from this week, today was the last for both students and teachers, which means there should be no classes next week preventing the city’s finest educators from enjoying a trip to Miami.

April has hired trusted temp baristas and a past manager to hold down the proverbial ACup fort for the week.

Knowing that there are characters who may not have a week’s vacation time available, or have the time but must put it toward another occasion, the conglomerate of April, Serena, and Sugar are willing to cover someone’s weekly salary if they need to take unpaid leave. 

And while we know that there may be characters less inclined to travel to Miami and spend a week with acquaintances/friends/enemies, we hope you choose to perhaps push your character beyond their comfort zone for the sake of the event. However, if you’re planning to not have your character attend, please message the Main so that the rooming list below can be adjusted.

PRIDE MONTH

Color Wars will continue throughout Miami Week, and characters will be able to earn additional points to go toward their group’s totals.

Any dash starters relating to an event on the Daily Schedule will be worth 50 points.

Any social media posts relating to an event on the Daily Schedule will be worth 25 points.

Completion of a Miami Week Daily Prompt will earn your character 25-50 points.

Characters will also have the chance to earn points of a wide range via what we’re going to call Flash Posts. These may from prompts, questions, tasks, etc. that are only available to earn points for a specific time period, or first-come-first-serve (e.g. the first three characters that respond will earn points).

Daily Prompts and Flash Posts will be posted via April’s blog.

And finally, BOTB points for this week won’t go to a particular band winning. Instead, points earned by characters will go to their respective Color War team totals. Specific point earnings for BOTB will be detailed on the normal Wednesday BOTB kickoff post.

IC INFORMATION

Flight, hotel room charge, transportation to/from the airports as well as any scheduled events (noted below on daily schedule), and daily dinners at the hotel will all be covered expenses. There is one group dinner on June 16; all other dinners if done on-site at the hotel can be charged to the room (does not include room service). Additionally, alcohol expenses charged at hotel bars will be covered as well. 

Breakfast, lunch, and dinners outside of hotel, as well as transportation to locations not listed on daily schedule will be covered by individual characters. 

DAILY SCHEDULE

None of the daily events listed are required. If characters wish to spend all their time at the pool/beach, or explore other parts of Miami, they are more than welcome. Listed events are essentially “sponsored” events where full costs and transportation have been covered. 

SUNDAY, JUNE 16

6:00AM - Meet at ACup at 6AM (coffee and pastries provided for breakfast) and board party bus (2 buses will be provided; a third coach will transport luggage).

6:30AM - Depart for Teterboro Airport.

7:30AM - Depart for Miami on a JetSuiteX Embraer 135.

10:00AM - Arrive at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport and depart for South Beach hotel.

10:30AM - Arrive at W South Beach and check-in.

12:00PM - Enjoy the USWNT Round 2 match against Chile at the nearby sports bar Free Spirits.

6:00PM - April’s Showers match against Miami Shutout Machine at Flamingo Park Soccer Field.

9:00PM - Private group dinner at the RWSB.

9:00AM - Depart for Airboat Rides Miami for Everglades Tour.

7:00PM - Tacos & Tequila Tuesday Dinner and Drag Show at Palace. April has reserved tables for all to attend, but attendance isn’t necessary.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 19

10:00AM - Day trip to Little Havana. Shuttle service drop-off provided for those interested in exploring.

12:00AM - Mynt Ultra Lounge. 3 Premium VIP tables and bottle service are reserved.

THURSDAY, JUNE 20

3:00PM - Enjoy the USWNT Round 3 match against Sweden at the nearby sports bar Free Spirits.

8:00PM - BOTB: Miami Edition at Mango’s Tropical Cafe. Come support the groups as they take over the night’s Dinner & Show event.

FRIDAY, JUNE 21

Beach/Pool Day.

Being physically and mentally healthy was never a struggle and always a focus for Reggie, and as such, it’s greatly stunted her ability to emotionally heal.  Reggie learned at a young age to put her feelings aside in order to ensure things got done, and by having continued success with not being emotional, it became who she was. However, she doesn’t entirely realize it, which makes her have a lot of work to do in this field. While she loves the life in New York City, it’s in nature that Reggie is the most at peace. Sadly, she’s still overwhelmingly anxious of mountains, rocks, and high points, having never fully dealt with the fallout of her first accident. This keeps her within the NYC city limits most of the time, besides for camping or surfing.  Given the way she carries herself and seemingly endless confidence, it’s surprising how easy it is for Reggie to lose herself in her environment.  She’s mature for her age, but it can be clear she’s only a girl in mid-twenties by her lack of really knowing herself just yet. Mixing that with her generally stubborn-when-threatened nature makes it difficult for her to recognize her own emotional needs most of the time. To truly get her head on straight, Reggie often needs the slow paced lifestyle of being away from crowds to find her footing and get a better idea of what she wants. In her heart of hearts, she’s still just a girl from a small beach town in North Carolina. So if Reggie invites someone to go camping, it means she genuinely wants their presence around and believes it’d be good for both parties, no matter how unlikely. It’s no question that beaches and the ocean are where she feels the most serene, with any other bodies of water matching for the next slot. She can’t go places completely quiet, needing the crash of waves, rustles of leaves, chirps of birds and general sounds of nature to keep her grounded in reality while she sorts herself out.

tl;dr-- Reggie should go camping more often to better cope with 90% of her problems so jot that down 📝

While she didn’t lose her virginity until her late teens, sex always had a certain role in Shawn’s life-- specially sex appeal. Having always looked mature for her age, Shawn learned young what the male gaze was and just how often it could be thrown at a developing woman from any given day. It wasn’t welcomed, though in time, she made a certain peace with having beauty and how society seemed to believe it was a woman’s responsibility on what reactions it made people have. School dress codes, tips on how to be safe walking at night, staying incredibly aware of surroundings... the list was endless as far as she could tell. Though, rather than let that defer her from dressing, speaking, acting, and doing as she pleased, Shawn found a way to wield it in a way that benefited her financially and personally-- phone sex work. Being warm enough to seem welcoming, but coy enough to stay safe, Shawn walked the fine line to avoid winding up in sticky situations she didn’t want to be put in. Being one to observe gave Shawn a vast imagination, and when she was desperate for work after her father’s passing, some opportunities you just can’t question when they fall in your life. Being one to find a lot of power in sex, it transcended into her work, often giving her voice the sultry appeal that her clients keep coming back for. While Shawn’s open minded, she’s firmly homoromantic thus she is able to keep an emotional distance with each call she does given her one rule with the job is this-- men only. It allows her to keep the full control she wants, never having to worry about offering too much of herself to a stranger on the other line. However, despite finding strength in what she does, and genuinely loving it, Shawn keeps her long term job hidden. Knowing very well already judging goes hand in hand with the masses at times, she prefers to keep what she does to herself as to avoid being seen a poor light. It also unfortunately keeps her from truly connecting with partners, as she would rather avoid facing the ultimatum of stopping something she loves or keeping someone she loves.

Even as a baby, Shawn was always able to make peace with the world and its conditions. Her parents often told her that people would tell them how she was the most quiet, well tempered child, and it even continued onto her teen and adult years. She could see violence, but find solace that someday peace would be found. She could see a situation being unfair, and know that one day it would get evened out. Though she wouldn’t call herself an optimist, Shawn at least can push aside her own personal judgement and reactions and find a hopeful thought to cling onto. Never a rebel, not one to cause waves, and always hoping for a result that left all parties happy (or eventually would), Shawn is able to keep a level head through many hardships. Some might even say too level as it makes it hard to know exactly what Shawn’s feeling or thinking, even in highly intimate or intense moments. Still, her ability to keep a calmness about her makes Shawn on hell of a meditation partner, book club member, or friend to talk to when need be. Her inner peace makes her heart all the more welcoming of other’s troubles, genuinely wanting to help take the weight from their shoulders.

June 16-22 Here at ACup we like to celebrate milestone achievements so we couldn’t let the 100th week of activity go by without proper fanfare. Thanks to the generosity of April, Serena, and Sugar, the whole crew will fly to Miami to enjoy a week at the beach.

Take a stand, show up in force, and make your voice heard in this re-imagined Rally experience.

PRIDEFEST

June 29 · 11AM-6PM PrideFest is NYC’s annual LGBTQIA+ street fair that combines exhibitors, entertainers and activities for a day of fun and celebration in the name of equality. Join April at the ACup PrideFest booth (or on the ACup Pride float). Iced coffee and pastries as well as A-Cup-Pella, April’s Showers, Pamela Lansbury, UAP, and Warblettes swag will be on hand.

June 29 · 12PM Float decorating kickoffs on Sunday, June 23 and will continue throughout the week. April will be thankful to any volunteers that can offer even 10 minutes to make the ACup float sparkle and shine!
