New Headcanon Acquired!
Loving based on your post about the Adaman language glitch.
Adaman and Irida know very little English (makes perfect sense really), and the small handful of words/phrases they do know are from Prof. Laventon, and in Irida's case, Ingo too.
Hence, it's mainly 18th-19th century (assuming PLA happened around the Meiji Restoration) Galarian colloquilisms. With Irida it swings violently between the above, and late Gen X / early Millenial geekspeak.
In short, Adaman sounds like a theatre kid and Irida sounds like a shitposter.
Also, am I the only one who thought Irida's voice would've been a little softer? I guess the mature voice suits her position, but because I always see her as being young, like late teens, it threw me a little.
High Five Anon
Meiji era means there were trains in Japan. We can make Ingo a conductor again.
I think Irida always seemed 18-20 to me since I understood it as having to be an adult to be a clan leader? She does clearly force a strong exterior, too, though, as seen in game. She's a strong girl, too.
Adaman looks like the cool, forward, "hip" one until he opens his mouth. "A good day to you!" Or "Well met, friend!" leaves his mouth, and everyone is confused. Meanwhile, Irida says things like, "That train has left the station..." or gives a loud "bravo!" as praise. No one quite sure how to respond to these things. Especially when she says things like, "I say that those twins seem eerily similar to Ingo, but that mustn't be the case. I literally can't even." People aren't sure why she sounds like a walking Victorian novel character that the author forgot the era of half-way through.

Thinking about Adaman ending up on Pasio through the shenanigans, except he actually encounters the hero of Hisui, as in like actually them. He's confused because he 100% is certain that it is them. He thinks they ended up there as he and Irida had, yet its them before they go to Hisui, leading to more chaos.

WAITWAITWAIT
Self aware Irida trying to protect you from the other self aware characters cause she knows they are bat shit crazy, thinks Ingo is on her side with wanting to protect you from Adaman and Volo when in reality Ingo is just as down bad and just wants the other two out of the way so he can have you all to himself, the last person he’d have to take care of would be Irida.
Volo 100% pulling the god shit, claiming you’re a god in need of worship and he shall be the one to provide it
But Adaman flirting with you every chance he gets makes every other self aware person foam at the mouth cause how dare he be the one to make you all giddy!
This self aware au is too much fun I love it
gotta put all the self aware characters in bw as well, you got grimsley, the twins, and N.
Ingo would feel bad for manipulating her, but it's not entirely wrong to say he is doing that to keep you safe. Volo is dangerous and Adaman is impulsive. He can't allow you to be forced into this world by either, or let Volo enter the real world because what he might do this is drastic.
Volo is going around to the other three like "Let me tell you about my lord and saviour, who you can't worship!" He's convinced he's going to win as he is the strongest trainer (in his own mind) and has a literal legendary under his control unlike the other three.
Adaman is just constantly trying to fluster you and get your attention solely on him. He might not have sheer strength or numbers, but he is a hot dude; he knows that much. That, and he will definitely be the first to realise that they can leave the virtual world.
And lastly, poor, poor Irida, the only one not obsessed with you and actively trying to help. She's aware that Ingo is acting strangely but hopes that is just the sudden realisation of consciousness not whatever Volo and Adaman have going on. She's constantly hinting at you that there's something wrong with the game and to turn it off (because they keep cutting her off when she tries to directly tell you). You ignore her. Part of her begins to feel spiteful, but she endures and keeps trying to save you from the obsessed men.
