I'm not really a fan of Hawks losing his Quirk to AfO. If it serves any purpose it will probably be used to help Izuku fight AfO in the vestige realm which is a fight I was never looking forward to in the first place. Otherwise I don't think it really serves much purpose for Hawks as a character because we're at the end of the story and we just won't get a big focus on how it effects him going forward.
I mean, I see people saying that him losing his Quirk has set him free from the HPSC but he was essentially free from them after the first War. They have been non-existent in the story since than besides passing mentions. From what the reports said last chapter it seems that all the Heroes fighting are doing so of their own pure desire to help, not because the HPSC is paying them or anything. Keigo isn't working for them and given the world ending stakes if he wanted to do anything but beat AfO it'd be a negative trait, not him finding his freedom.
I know people want Keigo to find himself outside of being a Hero and his Quirk but that doesn't really seem to be a theme in the story. If Hori wanted to tell that story he could have done so with Mirio or All Might but he didn't. Instead Mirio was given his Quirk back with little fan fair and All Might's inspiration and Hero heart was reinforced. The story is about people being Heroes not about themselves as just people.
Which is honestly how I see things going with Hawks. His Quirk will be a force for good that helps Izuku beat AfO from the inside proving that despite his saying his Quirk was dirty, he really did/does have the heart of a Hero.
Also, I do think it takes real Hawks out of the story most likely, which is a bit disappointing, though understandable. I never really understood where people got the idea he was going to have a full mental break down anyway and besides him flipping out because he can't help anymore I still don't really see it happening. I mean, Hori is going at light speed here, why would he take the time to focus on Hawks having a mental break when he hasn't even managed to do that for his main three villains yet, who actually need that for the story to end.
I could easily be proven wrong given that Hori's writing is unpredictable, but for the moment my guess is that Hori did this so he could take Hawks out of the fight so he wouldn't get involved with the Todoroki or Ochako/Toga stuff, while also leaving open the possibility to give Izuku a strong ally in Hawks Quirk if needed.
I know people wanted him in those fights, but Hori has a hard time juggling characters in fight scenes, something we've seen a lot in this arc and the one prior. And to be honest he doesn't serve much purpose in them either. I've seen theories of wanting him try and kill Dabi and being devastated because Enji saves his son, essentially picking Touya over him, but Hawks has been nothing but positive about Enji trying to change and help his family. He didn't try and attack Touya or even mention him when he came through the portal, so don't know why he'd suddenly decide to attack him Quirk or not.
When it comes to Toga/Ochako thing he only complicates it. Yes, he killed Twice, but as we've seen Toga's main problem isn't that Twice was killed, it's that Izuku and Ochako, kids around her age don't like her. She feels like no one cares about her because she has a bad Quirk. If getting revenge for Twice was her main objective than she wouldn't have been crying. She doesn't even think about Hawks or name dropped him to my knowledge. If anything she treats all Heroes as guilty. To add Hawks into this fight draws attention away from Ochako, Toga and her main issue of identity. Plus, again I don't see Hawks being upset if Ochako saves Toga in the way he couldn't save Twice. He liked Twice and did try to save him. At most I think we'd see him watching with a happy smile and some tears, not having a full existential crisis.

could u do a hawks, dabi, and shigaraki x weird! reader hcs? like reader sometimes says the most out of pocket shit and they have a interesting background already involved in crime b4 they met them?
oh this is right up my alley. alright, here we go!
Weird!Reader HCs-- Hawks, Shigaraki, Dabi under cut
Hawks
Depending on the severity and legality of said weird shit, he either thinks it's funny or is a little bit concerned. It's usually the former, but if you're a rehabilitated (or at least, trying to rehabilitate yourself), he's going to be the angel on your shoulder saying "Maybe we shouldn't light that guy's house on fire, babe. Even if nobody could prove it"
If it's more mundane out of pocket shit, like "I used to eat bugs out of the dirt and pretend I was Timon and Pumba from Lion King", he's more likely to be like "Word, I used to pretend I was Simba." While he's also a very naturally serious guy in his work, being able to be genuinely carefree and silly helps relax him.
He's so used to being able to read people and calculate their reactions and intentions, so not being able to predict whatever the fuck may come out of your mouth next is a real treat for him. Keeps things fresh and exciting in a world where so many things can bore him. He's also just kind of a hype man for his significant other anyways so he's just as much the type to be like "Ain't that cute?" whenever you say something that most other people would kind of raise their eyebrow about.
It would be hypocritical of him to judge you for your past, but he really won't tolerate that shit now. He secretly finds it a little hot that you used to be 'bad' but the less he knows about the serious things you may or may not have done, the better. He cannot defend you if they find a body in your apartment, sweetheart, no matter how much you make those eyes.
Shigaraki
Plays the straight man perfectly to your funny guy. He always has a smartass remark or raised eyebrow when you say something, but also plays along completely seriously every single time without fail.
"Would you still love me if I was a worm?"
"What the fuck is wrong with you?" Shigaraki thinks for a moment. "...I'd at least get you some kind of dirt bowl to live in until you turned back."
He likes to bounce potential ideas off of you because of your experiences. You can say some weird shit, but more often than not, you can find the exploitable loopholes in "traditional" thinking. That's a skill one needs when trying to completely overthrow and restructure society. Even in your weirdness, most of your suggestions have more basis than some of the other opinions in the league. Besides, you make him laugh. That's a rare skill around there. He never admits it, just turns around and you can see his shoulders shake a little bit.
You cannot be trusted around Toga and Twice because the three of you will somehow create the most intricate inside jokes that make sense to nobody but the three of you. It's nice that you all get along, though. He won't participate but he does sit close by so he can hear you laugh and enjoy yourself.
Dabi
Takes everything you say in stride. He's around weirdos at the League all day anyways, one more by his side can't hurt-- besides, a little strangeness is far from a crime. There are worse things you can say or do. Sometimes he raises an eyebrow or ignores if it's really an inappropriate or unreasonable/feasible response for the situation, but that's rare.
Unlike Hawks or Shigaraki, he's going to play along with you more than the other two. Like...maybe you SHOULD kill that guy. You might have a point. You have an uncanny habit of saying exactly what he was thinking or wants to hear, which earns points with him.
More of the type to have discussions with you based on the weird shit you say. He likes to know why you say certain things, the conclusions that brought you there, things like that. He likes to pick apart your brain to figure out just how it 'ticks' and why he can't get enough of it.
One of his favorite things to do is just watch you while you go off on one of your tangents. He doesn't always have something to say, so he just listens and absorbs whatever it is that you have going on. Sometimes it's your past (a wild ride, definitely), sometimes it's just wherever the conversation leads you. Doesn't judge you on what you may have had to do or experience to get where you are, the important thing is you're with him now for a truly important purpose.

i am thinking about ex boyfriend touya who is the father of your little girl 🥺 and he works in a tattoo shop and lets her come inside and chill with toga, who runs the front desk, and she always leaves with those little stick on tattoos on her cheeks 🥺 on her face like her dad 🥺
and whenever toga sees you come in, she gets her little coy smile and calls "daaabiiiii~" all sweet and innocent, like she's not going to sit there and reveal how much he still talks about you—even if he is dating someone else now. like she's not going to pick and pry about if you're seeing anyone these days, if you ever think about maybe rekindling the flames.
you think it's fine that he's seeing someone; you've met her twice, a beautiful dark-haired girl that's almost as tall as he is, that nearly matches all the tattoos he has, the piercings. they look like they go together, and you think that's what he likes. she's never been anything but nice, albeit shy, but you suppose you would be too in her position.
touya doesn't look up from his handiwork, when you stand in the doorway of his room. it's all covered, top to bottom, in his own artwork—handrawn and tattooed—or prints from artists he admires. pictures of he and your daughter, her school pictures, and even one of your maternity photos; your growing belly under his pale, decorated hand, the contrast stark and beautiful in plain black and white.
"hey," he says, and then he glances to the face of the man lying on his table. "you don't mind if my kid's mom comes in, do you?" when he's met with a wordless no, then he looks at you. bright, happy. "you look nice."
you're not wearing anything special, shorts and a strappy tank top—your half-hearted effort to beat the summer heat—but you smile anyway, sending him a quizzical look that he shrugs at. "thanks, i feel like i'm going to sweat to death."
touya returns to his piece, but grins. "super hot, like always."
"shut up," but you feel the warmth spread to your cheeks, even as you shake your head. he glances at you and you find reason to look elsewhere, away from that pointed aqua gaze of his. he must have just re-dyed his hair; it makes his eyes look that much more vibrant. "hey, i wanted to tell you about her little school festival next month, if you want to come."
"oh, okay, uh," touya sits up, rolling his chair across the room to the calendar hanging on the wall. "what day?" when you tell him, he pulls off one glove and fishes a sharpie out of his drawer, marking a big X on the date, blocking it out for anything else. "sick, thanks for tellin' me."
"yeah, of course," you murmur, looking down at your feet as you kick them mindlessly, ignoring the stare he gives you. "thanks for—" you wave a hand vaguely at the wall, what he'd done, and he smiles at you again. softer, this time, more genuine.
touya had a hard time, in the beginning. it's what separated you in the first place, having to accept your pregnancy, choosing to step up to be a father and leaving his partying days behind. there was a lot of fear—that you thought was justified, but painful to you nonetheless—and he didn't start working through that, didn't meet her, until she was almost two.
it's something that haunts him even now, even though she doesn't remember a day without him. on the few occasions that he brings her all the way to your apartment to drop her off, he's admitted as much in the quiet of your kitchen. sitting at the table, sharing a beer and speaking too-friendly, in ways you shouldn't anymore. he still looks at you like that, the same way he does when he bears his heart to you in the dark.
i can be better now, y'know? i'd kill myself before leaving again, baby, please.
you hear the little patter of her feet as your daughter turns down the hallway and then she's sprinting for you, jumping just as you turn to catch her.
"mommy!" she squeals, and you hug her tight and you squeal, too, even if it's only been two weeks. her hair screams touya, in both color and style: bleach white and pulled back in a messy french-braid; he's always been better than average with her hair, had plenty of practice on his sister.
you swing her around a little as she tightens her legs around your hips, and from the corner of your eye, you can feel him watching you, unmoving. you don't want to see the look on his face. you don't want to see it because it's changed and you know it; it's morphed into something dark, the same melancholic look he always gives you, when it's time to go.
from the front, toga calls, "dabi, your girlfriend is here!" and touya turns, clearing his throat as he starts back on his piece.
"'m almost done, gimme like thirty minutes!" he shouts, but he looks up at you again, as if to check for something, anything. if there's been any change.
there hasn't, and you can't stomach the look on his face when he realizes that, either.
