Honestly now that I'm looking more and more at a lot the the names that got cut down to their last name (or I guess first name in Elias's case) like Claudio's WWE one when they moved up from NXT, almost all of them are kinda better/cooler as full names. Adrian Neville, Alexander Rusev, Elias Samson, Tommaso Ciampa (though they have fixed his at least), etc...

Dear lord what was McMahon's off-and-on obsession with making everyone's names one name like Madonna and making them worse for it?

I just found out that Ciampa is no longer Tommaso Ciampa.

Listen, I don’t believe a word he says, but I remember reading years ago Dave Meltzer explaining why Rusev and Cesaro lost their names and I found out the article:

“There was a meeting and at the meeting, Vince goes ‘we gotta drop that first name.If we call him Alexander Rusev, people are gonna start gonna calling him Alex and Alex is not a good name for a heel.’ That’s the real reason so that’s why they dropped the first name. The same thing happened with Cesaro. The reason why they dropped [the name] Antonio Cesaro was because Vince said people are going to start calling him Tony and Tony is not a heel name so we gotta drop the first name.”
