I kind of hate the lack of jewerly and over the top dresses Rhaenyra was known for.
In the book she's described as following:
"Rhaenyra always dressed richly, favoring purple and maroon velvets and golden Myrish lace in intricate patterns. Her bodice often glittered with pearls and diamonds, and there were always rings on her fingers. Whenever she was anxious, she would turn them compulsively around her fingers."
Don't get me wrong, some of the dresses she wore were cute (the red dress in ep 4 is probably my favorite). But it's like, where are the pearls, where is the velvet, where is the purple??
Both Milly and Emma are absolutely beautiful and honestly both od them deserved better costumes. I feel like a lot of the time, the dresses didn't fit their body properly or they weren't tailored properly.
From what we saw in the teasers, her hair and outfits look a lot better. Hopefully we get some fire dresses in S2.
Like, look at the way it doesn't fit her. Her chest area looks weird idk. But the color is pretty.
I hated this dress and her hair here 😭. Pls treat my Queen with proper respect!
I love that Rhaenyra was portrayed as more of a bit of a tomboy in the show. Rebellious to everything, including the social constructs expected of her. And I genuinely did love a lot of her dresses and jewelry.
However she should've had more dresses- they shouldn't have repeated as often as they did. And she had no consistency to her costumes- no personalized sense of style, except for with the 3 younger red dresses and the last 2 black dresses. They should've also done far more w her hair.
Emma is perfect as Rhaenyra. They're gorgeous in the way of Greek statues of the divine. Their bone structure is *regal.* and Milly is just absolutely lovely as well, especially in eps 3, 4, and 5, and in her riding and hunting leathers.
Plus they both genuinely care about Rhaenyra as a character- it's so obvious in every interview they've done. Rhaenyra was perfectly cast- as was Daemon, Harwin, and the Velaryon both and dragon twins (and Corlys)
I hate the show for a lot of things, but all of these reasons make me at least tolerate it.... also the dragon designs are incredible. Syrax is *spectacular.*
