V for Vendetta (2005)

The fight for freedom is the theme of V for Vendetta. Freedom fighter "V" wages war against a totalitarian government in a futuristic Britain. It's kind of eery when you think of Brexit.  "V" finds an unlikely ally in Evey Hammond. She joins "V" in helping the citizens fight oppression. Will they succeed?

Equilibrium (2002)

A government that subdues the populace with an emotion-suppressing drug, and "sense offenses" are punishable by death. Mindless drones are what the government wants but one enforcer decides to skip his dose. This results in a rebellion that leads to a revolt. Will he punish those using oppressive laws to dominate the citizens?

Snowpiercer (2013)

Class division is the theme in this dystopian film. Due to a second ice age, a train circles the globe. Earth's last remaining inhabitants are formulating a revolution to keep the classes separated.

Chappie (2015)

This futuristic caper chronicles the adventures of Chappie, an advanced humanoid robot who's kidnapped shortly after his creation and ends up incorporated into an already offbeat family.

A government agency called The Humanity Bureau exiles members of society deemed unproductive banishing them to a colony known as New Eden. It takes a sympathetic caseworker Noah Kross to investigate a case appealed by a single mother and her son. The fate of an innocent boy hangs in the balance as Kross attempts to save their lives and expose the truth about The Humanity Bureau.

Aeon Flux (2005)

If rebellions are built on hope, then the one in Aeon Flux is evidence of that. Assassin Aeon Flux (Charlize Theron) must eliminate the government's top leader. The setting is the 25th century. A pandemic virus is ravaging the Earth. The remnants of humanity are forced to seclude themselves to stay alive.
