What the fuck is going on with fashion lately??? I feel like since covid clothing design has gone absolutely off the rails. I look at online retailers and see the ugliest pieces of clothing I’ve ever seen, made out of plasticity tissue paper-ass fabric, being sold for upwards of $70 and I’m just dumbfounded. Or they’re selling the most basic boring tshirt for like $50+.

Like why is it all so fucking ugly??? Who is buying this shit??? I don’t wanna shit on people with unique tastes in clothes at all, do your thing! But there’s a difference between unique style and poorly made, poorly constructed pieces with no coherent design.

I know the answer is probably fast fashion and ultimately capitalism and unsustainable business just like literally everything, but I’m just so sick and tired of all this. Y’all gonna stop giving these people money for absolute trash.

Going back and deleting pretty much all my posts about fast fashion.

Because even though we all know “fast fashion” is bad for the environment, we need to acknowledge the fact that not everyone can afford to pay 20 dollars a plain white t-shirt….

At this point being sustainable is lowkey a luxury that a lot of folks can’t afford. And instead of guilting people for simply buying what they can afford, these companies need to be held accountable for being cheap and greedy.

i hate that so much high quality natural fiber clothing is just so boring and shapeless in the name of being a “timeless piece”

like every few months i sit down and im like “okay i want to invest in a nice wool dress that i’ll have for years before it wears out and won’t shed plastic everywhere” and then i go look and its all baggy hemp and beige turtlenecks so i give up and just buy a shitty unlined cotton dress that will wear out within a year

like yes, if i’m going to invest in slow fashion i want something that isn’t going out of style soon, but i also want something that has actually been in style at some point
