Velocity Partners offshore software development company is pleased to annouce that our Agile Evangelist, Bill DeVoe, spoke at this year’s Big Apple Scrum Day (BASD) that took place in New York City on May 1st.  The one day community conference focused on Scrum/Agile principles and practices and shared knowledge so participants could discover new practices and learn from their peers.
Bill DeVoe’s speech at the workshop was titled Agile Transformation Beyond the Team.  In his discussion, Bill addressed the fact that “as change agents, we’re adept at changing IT teams but we experience resistance when talking to HR and Finance.” He explained how he has successfully engaged HR and Finance teams to support agile transformations in the enterprise. Bill provided points and practical actions that participants could use to immediately make changes and transformations beyond their IT teams.
Bill has lots of experience in these areas as for the last few years, he was instrumental in helping large health care and financial companies with Agile trasformations.  He witnessed first-hand the challenges the organizations faced in adopting Agile.
Another speaker well-known to us at VP was Bob Galen, whose session was entitled Product Owners – Increasing your Situational Awareness. He discussed how product owners encounter challenging situations including conversations, negotiations, and decisions every day but that much of the role’s focus is towards stories and backlogs.  His session required interaction from participants and included practicing the best way to handle a myraid of these types of situations.
Please visit Velocity Partners’ website to see more from Bill in terms of interesting and very informative blogs on Agile and Scrum practices.  Also use our contact form so we can show you how our cost-effective, highly talented Agile offshore development team can provide solutions for your business.

Linux Creator Linus Torvalds Said 90% Of AI Is Hype, And He Is Not Alone
What did Parunak, Savit, Riolo and Hansen have in common in 1998 and why does it matter in 2025?
EDITOR’S NOTE: Anyone who has followed this blog for the past couple of decades already knows my position on technology and the importance of using a human-led, agent-based development and implementation model. If you are a first-time visitor to the Procurement Insights blog, here are a couple of links to get you going: Are you chasing solutions or solving problems? (Part 1…

Why A 2004 Quote Resonates in 2025
26 years later, how will the agent-based model take your Agentic AI implementation to the next level?
Those of you who have been reading this blog over the past 18 years know that my archives are extensive regarding the subject matter I have covered. Ironically, I have a reasonably good recall of what I have written. I say reasonably because occasionally, one or two past articles escape my memory. I was reminded of this yesterday. Being Quoted In a discussion stream on LinkedIn, Justin…

Practitioners And Providers Must Stop "Logo Hunting!"
What is ProcureTech "logo-hunting?"
EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is a comment exchange regarding a LinkedIn post/video by a practitioner that demonstrates two things: Your success as a practitioner implementing a successful ProcureTech solution is up to you – the practitioner choosing the right solution development and implementation model. Your success as a ProcureTech solution provider depends on choosing the right client who…

An important and timely discussion about Agentic AI
AI, GenAI, and Agentic AI and the tale of the "rusty robot" - why you should care.
JWH – What is the difference between Agentic AI and Agent-based AI?⚡ Over two decades ago, the foundational elements for successfully utilizing advanced, self-learning algorithms to optimize the procurement process using an agent-based model were well established.⚡ Somewhere along the line, we got distracted by SaaS and digital transformation, and now we are at risk of being sidetracked by…

Does a 2008 answer to a question on "optimization modeling" still stand in 2024?
What is the difference between Agentic AI and Agent-based AI?
EDITOR’S NOTE: More than two decades ago, the foundational elements for successfully utilizing advanced, self-learning algorithms to optimize the procurement process using an agent-based model were well established. Somewhere along the line, we got distracted by SaaS and digital transformation, and now we are at risk of being sidetracked by Agentic AI. One critical point to avoid having this same…

Antonio Grasso Provides An AI Picture For Success
Here is Antonio Grasso's AI picture for success and its relation to the agent-based implementation model.
The following Tweet (can we still call it that on X) caught my attention because he puts Business Context at the top of the list. That is the “beginning of using an agent-based model.” Here is a link to an actual “successful” case reference – Are you chasing solutions or solving problems? (Part 1 of 3) “Business Context: The business context or problem intended to be addressed with the use of AI…

When it comes to AI, Show Me The Results (Money)!
Message to Solution Providers: "Please show me the results and confirm that you are a profitable organization, and I will sing your praises far and wide."
EDITOR’S NOTE: The response to the comment below has been “energized” if not particularly relevant. Despite spending the better part of my 65 years in high-tech and procurement and loving all technology, simply asking for tangible results, e.g., “Haha, that’s ok, John, there were a few detractors of the internet too! Notably, calling it a passing fad!” My problem isn’t with technology; it is…

Why do solution providers insist on using an equation-based model?
Why don't solution providers use an agent-based model to implement their solutions?
Do you know why solution providers insist on using an equation-based model, which results in an 80% ProcureTech failure rate, instead of a proven agent-based model to solve problems? Because you can’t sell solving problems. Because you can’t package it in a neat and easy-to-understand marketing pitch. Because problem-solving isn’t a scalable product, you can mass market. Do you know what you…

Here is a more direct path to procurement's AI success (Late Night Edition)
What can't Generative AI do?
Stephany Lapierre, this will read well in a brochure: “We could have used other technologies to deliver answers back to users but customers liked the conversational and contextual UX and the addition of agentic search capabilities to provide more context on suppliers (as long as we can expose provenance).” Let’s try this – What is a self-learning algorithm? Self-learning models are AI models…
