#no im not a scientist#this will not stop me#best as i can guess why we havent used marrow to create more blood is due to weird constrictions in the donation industry + evil insurance#but! i dont actually know shit about fuck and im not even sure my specific questions are like. so obvious why it hasn't been done or not#aka why focus on creating specific substitutes for blood function/plasma/cells etc rather than harnessing the body's current ability#DARPA was discussed in the article i read but i kinda hate them because they were talking about making super soldiers and thats sickening#soldiers are so dehumanized STOP trying to upgrade them like MACHINES you fucks#anyway. there was also talk about hematopoietic stem cell transfusion#those lil guys are important because they're what actually make the blood#they live in the marrow but sometimes they live outside the marrow and thats Bad#but if we're already transfusing those lil guys and we know the environment they live in why aren't there more Marrow Investigations#they do red blood cells AND white AND platelets#which seems to be pretty goddamn awesome when you need. more blood#we've already got plasma substitutes (which apparently have their own problems) so it seems like the big issue is the actual cells themselv#but it seems like the focus is primarily on replicating blood cells from other blood cells??#i dont know. i read 1 article and like 5 wikipedia articles that were very technical and thus easy to misunderstand#witness the fruits of My Rabbit Hole
