Nah, I'm pretty far away from their range. And I mean, yeah, but the ant species around here aren't nearly as charismatic as those ones or the ones you have. I would have preferred to run into a different denomination of stinging wasp like a Scolia or a Sphex or a Specius. Or a beetle like an Alaus or Prionus. I was starving for anything for most of the trip.

What does the ulau tag you put on she ra posts mean?

i was wondering if someone would ask this at some point lmao

she ra is a very character based show, which is great as it gives so much time to get to know and understand its characters very well, and really connect to them. this however did make it so a lot of the lore and world isn’t as widely explored or documented. my plan basically is to see how much stuff i can find about the universe (heights, place names, timelines, species of animals and plants, etc), and also slipping in some headcannon of me and others along the way (e.g i’m not including the stuff from that panel). since technically that would be an au, i named it the ULAU, the ultimate lore alternate universe. i’m using the ulau tag to track things that might be useful/interesting.

it was originally called the alau, the alternative lore alternate universe, but that had alternative alternate in the same thing, its more fun to say ulau, and i definitely didn't misspell alternative wrong in my mind when making this. thanks for asking! (:

For the Angelic Layer AU, I can't imagine Marinette being satisfied with just ONE look for her angel, so, the idea is that Ladybug will have a lot of different looks (with the "Ladybug version" being the primary one)

About your Angel Layer au, what's Adrien backstory and relationship with characters like Chloe, Marinette, Nino, and his father? Why he hides his identity until becoming champion? And Adrien's father role in this story.

Chapter 2 will be from Adrien's POV and will explain his backstory, but in summary, his parents Rich Kids Club has been remade into an International Angelic Layer Development Club. So that's Tomoe, Amelie, Emilie, Gabriel, Andre, and Aubrey all personally invested.

I don't know how familiar people are with the Angelic Layer anime in particular, but in it they gave the main character Misaki's mother a disability that actually was made *worse* by her pushing herself to play that game. So, I'm making it that Emilie's dedication to making the game better made her already deteriorating health worse.

Yep, Angelic Layer killed Adrien's mom (lol).

So naturally in Gabriel Agreste fashion he takes this super well...and bans the game from his home, locks up anything related to the game in the basement, cuts off all their friends and family for being involved in it's development, and forbids Adrien from ever touching the game.

That means he's childhood friends with both Chloe AND Kagami and Felix (which makes more sense to me), but that friendship was cut off around 9 years old. Chloe definitely tried to force her way in anyway but Adrien hasn't had real contact beyond VIPS events that Gabriel couldn't reasonably turn down.

As for Nino and Alya and Marinette, he'll meet them within the comic!

The game has an appropriate age range? Sorry, i never watched Angelic Layer

Adults DO play (particularly in the anime) but for the most part players are in high school, maybe middle school. Though the youngest confirmed aged player is a 5 year old in the original, but she's a CLAMP 5 year old, so she's fully mature mentally despite being in actual Kindergarten.

lmao the series likes to put a great emphasis on Misaki being "smol" for her age while a literal 5 year old wipes the floor with everyone she encounters.

Point is, IN GENERAL, it's kids playing, kids Marinette's age. Obviously anyone can play, but since this is actively participating in an expensive Battle Royale against other children, I can't just take Any Character Who Has an Akuma and have them play - it has to make sense.

Like, Jalil would probably play, so a Pharaoh Angel makes sense. But I don't think Andre the Ice Cream man would play. That's what I'm trying to get at.

Hi ! I have a question about the angelic layer AU , have you ever thought about having any of the main characters with an akumatized-form inspired suit, like alya also having a lady wifi version of her suit or just filler characters/players like Aurora having a stormy weather inspired suit or at least just have them wearing some akuma inspired outfits once like the ones from the covers of scarlet lady

For the most part, if someone had a Miraculous, they'll use that version for their Angel. These are expensive toys so it's not very practical to have more than one. But for everyone else, their akuma makes an excellent proxy. And you nailed it with Aurore:

Only problem is that doing this does eliminate most of the characters that are in the appropriate age range for the game lol.

I think some of us need a quick guide to the angel au thingy, lol. A little help with that?

If you're asking about what the Original Angelic Layer is, I went into great description here, but as a quick summary:

In Angelic Layer (which , it is a fighting tournament style game. A player (known as a Deus) buys, crafts, and designs a controlled doll (called an Angel) and with a tele-link headset, the Angel is controlled by the Deus’ thoughts. They fight other angels in one on one fights to become a champion. 

So in an MLxAL Au, the Deus’ would be the civilians (Marinette, Adrien, Alya, etc) and the Angels would be their hero selves (Ladybug, Chat Noir, Rena Rouge) or akuma selves (Volpina, Mr. Pigeon, Stormy Weather etc) if they don't have a hero one.

I'm currently in the writing process for the AU as well as character design. Each chapter is character focused (like written from their POV) so while Marinette and Adrien are the main character/Misaki replacements, everyone will get at least one chapter of focus (though important characters will get more). Unfortunately that's where the writing has slowed down for me, especially since not every character is in love with the game.

Romance will probably very minimal despite both Marinette and Adrien having aliases while they play for in story reasons, though I've already written in some flirtation in their first meeting. It wasn't super prominent in the original manga (and I hated what they did with it in the original anime) which is why it's not currently heavy on my mind, but I wager if there IS a ship it's still Adrien x Marinette.

For some "fanfic" search tags: Lila will be a bad guy here, as well as Chloe. Neither will reach the level that they did in canon since they don't have magic and their bullying is all within the context of the game. Chloe will def come out better on the other side but not Lila. And since this is a No Magic AU, parental figures will be controlling but no where near the level of canon, so there's a trajectory for reconciliation in this AU.

I understand this is not a super popular IP and not everyone will go in having much lore knowledge on Angelic Layer, so I will be doing the work to explain the world and game appropriately as things come up lol. It won't be like SL where you probably need to watch original episodes to fill in gaps since the ALAU is going to exist in essentially an entirely new universe sans Miraculouses.

A thousand years ago (or really just 1 year ago) I talked about an Angelic Layer AU. Starting with our main group, here are some Angels with their Deus’. I’m not 100% sure how to make a completely narrative with these characters since Angelic Layer is just a tournament arc and very little else, but I had fun creating “uniforms that aren’t uniforms” for the characters.

In you angelic Au, Is Chloe good at the game (cause she is super rich and can get the most expensive gadgets) or she sucks at it but believes that she is the best?

Chloe is genuinely good at the game specifically because she can afford private practice layers, unreleased new models, and has the luxury of not needing to use her free time on things like "chores" or "homework".

It's this weird place where she actually works really hard at Angelic Layer but is completely oblivious to how much easier it is for her than other people to even have the privilege to be able to work hard at it.

Hi. I was wondering since Felix now has a peacock miraculous, will he be added to your Angelic layer Au? Love your Scarlet Lady au by the way ;)

I'd definitely like to draw him up as well as an Angel of Argos for him. I'm mostly just having trouble fitting any of the antagonists into the AU.

Angelic Layer is essentially one long tournament arc with no long lasting enemies. In the manga especially, everyone who's antagonistic just needs to be beaten into friendship by Misaki, and even those characters are rare - pretty much everyone is just having a good time. The anime (which I'm watching for the first time) has some one off characters to challenge Misaki's naivette but they disappear as soon as they're beaten too. No one's really a long standing enemy in the series.

The most I have for Gabriel is that Adrien hides his identity as a player so that Gabriel doesn't find out, implying he either dislikes the game or dislikes his son having fun of any sort lol. Unless I give him a Tragic Angelic Layer Backstory it's a little difficult to think of a reason why he'd be playing as Hawkmoth that makes any sense. But maybe if I finish the anime it'll give me some ideas through Misaki's mother.
