Woodworker Din meta
AND THE DIN VERSION, HELL YEAH
If he had the choice, and was under no external influence, he'd wear the same pair of jeans, same t-shirt and same zip-up hoodie 24/7
he also has reading glasses, and can't drive without wearing sunglasses, oftentimes the round lenses Luke keeps in the front console of the Subaru
Luke taught him how to surf when they first moved in together, and the sight of Luke pulling off his wetsuit did things to his psyche he hasn't quite been able to forget
His favourite movie is the Sound of Music, and they watch it together on his birthday every year
He's an amateur photographer and often takes his camera out with them on hikes; photographing Luke just as often as the nature around him
He's not a picky eater, but he prefers familiar foods and recipes over fancier choices.
His favourite restaurant in town is a fish and chips shop right on the bay
He started making a canoe out of a felled tree on their property four or so years ago, and when he's feeling meditative, he goes out and works on it
Din cuts Luke's hair, and also taught him how to shave with a straight blade
Their tools are organized on peg boards, and are all kept in perfect working order at all times. The electrical components of their hand tools and small appliances are checked on a regular basis.
His toolbelt is one of the last tangible things he has of his father
But his tools are his adoptive mother's. She was a machinist
He met the Naberrie's all at the same time, sort of by accident.
And he just like
Yearns with a capital Y from afar until Leia takes pity on him
and they've been besties ever since.
One Christmas, Din said that he liked puffer vests and henley's
and that's all Anakin's bought him ever since
so over the years, DIn's wardrobe has grown to resemble the MEC menswear catalogue
he's got the Patagonia quarter zips in like
four colours
he has the hiking backpacks, the fancy knives
but he prefers the carefully kept hunting knife his father gave him over the rest and keeps it tucked in the trunk of the Subaru just in case
he's a man who speaks with his hands
and before he admits his love for Luke, he just... did things for him
he got him tea, makes sure he eats regularly
he fixed the porch swing before Luke noticed it was hanging weird
and the only times he's truly comfortable talking about the Big Stuff
that is
anything bigger than dishes and laundry and when high tide comes
he needs his hands occupied so he can speak his mind
he's loved Luke since he was sixteen

Rosemary Kenobi meta
Her name was picked in part for Briar Rose in Sleeping Beauty, but also Rosemary in the Edison Lighthouse song.
Her nursery was built a year before they met her, a few days after Cody and Obi-Wan first discussed the possibility of children
It’s decorated with wallpaper from the forest in Sleeping Beauty,
Obi-Wan knit her first baby blanket
Their neighbour Bail Organa made her rocking chair
And Cody and Leia built her crib
Cody and Obi-Wan had spoken to Leia a year or so before they began the adoption process about the possibility of welcoming a baby into their family. She was thrilled
and kept her mouth shut when the family visited with a secret smile on her face
Rosemary has curly red hair and grey eyes and is still an infant, three weeks old
Obi-Wan and Cody dress her in a lot of sage green and beige and dusty rose
and have a full rainbow of baby bows for her
Both Cody and Obi-Wan came to parenthood naturally, although Cody preferred to be well informed with physical resources and parenting guides, Obi-Wan thrived on practical knowledge from watching Luke and Leia grow
They were going to tell the family over Thanksgiving, but just as they were about to leave for Canmore, the birth parents began having second thoughts and threatened to withhold the adoption process. Cody and Obi-Wan were devastated, subdued and set apart from the rest of the family for the entirety of the holiday.
The two months between Thanksgiving and Rosemary's birth were some of the hardest they faced as a couple
But once the details of the adoption were formalized, Cody and Obi-Wan allowed themselves a sliver of hope, taking Leia to Calgary to pick up all the things necessary for an infant. Leia watched with a smile as Cody bought his daughter her first pair of cowboy boots
They weren't... nervous exactly, to pick her up from the hospital the day she was born. Apprehensive, perhaps, but they packed three separate outfits in her car seat, one of her snowsuits and a good deal of hope
And when she was placed in their arms, all four of them cried. Leia drove home in Cody's truck as her fathers cooed over her in the backseat, holding hands overtop of their newborn daughter
The first few days were, admittedly, rough
She cried if she was put down, so while Obi-Wan slept, Cody went out to feed the livestock with her strapped to his middle
Leia took turns, moving back into the main house to help overnight. After four hours of crying, Rosemary finally slept when Leia sang to her
She sings to her every night
The full story can be found here!!!!

Granola Luke meta
OKAY OKAY OKAY I've been meaning to do this for a hot minute, but here's the quick and dirty Christmas AU Luke meta
He wears earth tones, high-waisted straight-leg Levi's, overalls, loose cardigans and sweaters and jumpers with embroidered flowers and trees on them
his hair is like, idk just past his shoulders and curly. He has an elaborate plopping and diffusing routine
he has a scrunchie collection
His novel is an in-universe rendition of IJADIHIM, cause why not
he moved to Victoria to live with his Aunt Sola and his cousins at 15 and went to high school in BC, which is where he met Din
Their house was a gift to Din and Luke for Luke's 21st birthday from Anakin and Padme
Luke has an in-universe tattoo of a lightsaber up his spine
But he as a few more, suns and flowers and trees all over his body
He has the Aritizia puffer, Lululemon aligns and Blundstone's and dresses like a basic BC granola bitch and I LOVE it for him
He practices yoga and has been playing with the idea of taking teachers training for years
he learnt pottery as a form of meditation, but also creating things with his hand is the easiest way for him to process the plotting for his book
They have a little studio Din built for him as an addition to the house. It's surrounded by windows and has a little fireplace in it
He plays piano, lots of improvised arpeggios and bon iver
Din and Luke have seen every Taylor Swift concert from Fearless on, their first not-quite-dates but sorta-dates
Luke and Leia grew up with wealth and privilege and both handled it differently. Since Leia lives on the farm in small-town Alberta and Luke lives in BC with Din, neither are involved directly with the family company
Luke took Padme's surname, but Leia is a Skywalker
Their house is paid for and the land is theirs, so Din's shop and Luke's books more than pay for their lifestyle
Luke isn't one for jewelry, rings and bracelets get in his way. But he has a bar necklace with his name on it that Din gave him for his birthday one year and he's yet to take it off
He drinks tea lattes and has big opinions on the correct way to brew coffee. He also exclusively drinks oat milk
both he and Din are huge foodies and are very competent cooks
which is 10000% from Padme and Sabe, who taught them before they left for university
Luke has like... ten zillion house plants
including the jade Leia got as a present from Aunt Sola that she didn't want and... didn't take home after their birthday that year. It's lived on their credenza ever since
Most of their furniture is either handmade by Din and Anakin or vintage
Their house is a modified A-frame, and the interior vibes are white panelling, sage green cabinets, brass and copper and black accents with plank wood floors
Luke writes all over the house, on the floor, in his bed, on their patio when the sun goes down in the summer and can often be found staring off into space while he looks for the word he has in mind
He has reading glasses that have... gigantic frames
all of the cups they cast for Luke's 25th birthday have Din and Luke's thumbprints on the cup handle designating the cups they made
...I could truly go on and on

Two things about the Christmas AU, but two things that remain very IMPORTANT things.
One: Leia grew up on a farm. She and Luke swapped roles and I’m jacked about it.
Two: 13-year-old Leia was the exact image of the female protagonist in every single mid 2000s horse girl movie, and I cANNOT STOP LAUGHING

work summary: Din and Luke had always been friends, roommates, the best friend they had always wanted. And when Luke's parents ask them to visit them for Christmas in their cottage in Banff, Luke hopes that it's the opportunity to find something more.
chapter summary: Din and Luke arrive in Calgary and are taken home to their home in Canmore by Luke's parents.
my discord invite:
"Your sister is keeping a secret," Anakin said grumpily, reaching over and taking the cat in his lap instead. "I know it, know  her,  and your  uncles  aren't any better. I know about the horse, about Cody's present, about the thing Leia did with that  cowboy  over thanksgiving break—"
"Ani—"
"Leia did WHAT?" Luke interjected, looking over to see Din barely suppressing his laughter. "She didn't tell ME that."
"She didn't tell your father that either," Padme said with a soft laugh, catching Luke's eye in the rear-view mirror. "He wheedled it out of Cody."
"AS A GOOD FATHER SHOULD," Anakin said abashedly. "If she's—if she's  canoodling  with a cowboy, I for one would like to know about it."
"I don't think you  do  want to know about it, dad," Luke said, pulling out his phone and checking Leia's Twitter for any new followers, not having to look to know Din was doing the same with Instagram.
"Given that the fellow she may or may not be  seeing  is not joining us, I daresay it'd be in everyone's best interest not to pry when we see her," Padme said, patting the back of Anakin's hand, much to Luke's amusement.
"And don't think I've forgotten about you two," Anakin said, swivelling in his seat so quickly that he disturbed Artoo from his nap and Luke from his Twitter search. "Padme, they were  holding hands."
"Oh?" Padme said, her voice turning into a new form of interest. Luke felt Din's hand on his tighten, their eyes meeting in an unspoken agreement.
"Din and I are—"
"Together?!" Anakin said exultantly, wiping a hand through his unruly curls with a jubilant laugh. "Thank FUCK for that, you know I was just saying to your mother—"
"Anakin," Padme said calmly.
"—Just this morning, in fact, my god, if they've been together all this time and  didn't say anything—"
"Anakin Skywalker," Padme said again, putting a hand on his thigh. "My love, let him finish, please."
Luke paused, feeling his cheeks grow rosy and warm. He had waited for this moment for years, for longer than he could admit to, to tell his parents that this burgeoning love and affection he had felt for his best friend for the majority of the time he'd known him was  reciprocated,  was  shared.  Even after all this time—
"He's right," Din said suddenly, and Luke turned to look with surprise on his face. "We're not— we're not  together  but—"
"OH MY GOD, I'M SO RELIEVED!" Anakin shouted, scaring Artoo enough that he bounded back into the backseat into Luke's lap. "Leia owes me twenty bucks."
"Anakin Skywalker, you did  not  wager your son's happiness and fulfillment on a  bet,"  Padme said, glaring at her husband before reaching back to grasp Luke's hand tightly in hers. His mother smelled familiar and comforting, and something warm bloomed in his chest at his parent's joy at the announcement, stilted and unfulfilled as it was.
Luke looked as his mother's eyes met his in the rear-view mirror. "I'm so happy for you two. I was hoping… well, I  had  hoped you two would find happiness together someday. As something  more  than best friends."

work summary: Din and Luke had always been friends, roommates, the best friend they had always wanted. And when Luke's parents ask them to visit them for Christmas in their cottage in Banff, Luke hopes that it's the opportunity to find something more.
chapter summary: Din and Luke wake up on Christmas Eve and dress together in the soft light of day.
my discord invite:
Luke wasn't wearing much to begin with, his boxers and an old shirt of Din's, and chose at the moment, after casting a look over at Din sitting on the bed, that a moment of coquettishness was somewhat overdue. He pulled a pair of woollen socks out of the bureau and pulled off his t-shirt, tossing it into the laundry basket. He took a moment to peruse his options, knowing that Din was watching him, knowing that Din was flush with  want  for him, that the smell of him lingered on Luke's skin, that the taste of him reminded him of what was yet to come.
Luke opened one drawer and then another before settling on a soft white cable-knit sweater, letting it fall over his shoulders and down the tops of his thighs before pulling his favourite pair of embroidered overalls on. He was just bending over to fix the cuffs when Din was behind him, his lips on Luke's neck and his arms around his belly.
"Tease," he whispered, pressing another kiss to the soft place behind his ear, his whiskers scratchy against gentle skin. "You're a tease."
"See something you like, then?" Luke asked with a half-smile, looking over his shoulder as he rested up against the bureau. Din blushed, looking down at Luke's undone overall buckles and buckled them gently.
"Yes," Din said, running his hands over Luke's breast, down his belly before settling on his hips, his eyes wide with adoration. "You look beautiful."
"You don't look half bad yourself," Luke said, playing at an appraising eye as he looked over his lover, broad and beautiful in the soft morning light. His sleep shirt was tight over his shoulders, initially intended for a smaller iteration of the man that stood before him. Din had broadened over the years— from toil and play alike— his hands roughened by the work of his trade. But the softness was there as well, the moustache, the fingers so soft and intentional as they reached for Luke. "But I think we can pick something suitably beautiful for you."

work summary: Din and Luke had always been friends, roommates, the best friend they had always wanted. And when Luke's parents ask them to visit them for Christmas in their cottage in Banff, Luke hopes that it's the opportunity to find something more.
chapter summary: The Naberrie family begins to decorate for Christmas, and Din and Luke settle into bed together for the first time.
my discord invite:
Din sat crosslegged beside him as he undid the zipper, careful to keep the half of his suitcase bearing Luke's gift closed tight. He retrieved his toiletries bag and his pyjamas, remembering with something tight in his chest that these were pyjamas that Luke had given him. Pyjamas that Din wore when he was thinking of him, pyjamas he shed when his blood ran hot wishing that it was Luke who was slipping them from his body, Luke's hands that slipped beneath the soft flannel, nails scratching against his skin while his breath and intentions hovered above him.
Din swallowed tightly, taking his pyjamas in hand as Luke's hand on his knee jolted him back to reality.
"You have to tell me, okay?" Luke said, his voice earnest and sure. "If it's too much, you have to tell me. We don't have to do this right now."
Do what?  Din's mind thought, his eyes widening as the smell of cider and rosemary fell from Luke's proximity. From his breath, from his  clothes,  the scent of him, warm and soft and near, so considerate for Din's comfort, for his wellbeing. Because so much of this was uncharted waters, which side of the bed would he prefer? Was it the one closest to the door, like it was at home? Or was it the right side since the layout was different—
"Din, look at me, sweetheart," Luke said softly, cupping his chin and tangling his fingers in the soft place behind Din's ear.
"I—yes," Din said, swallowing tightly and looking down at his crossed ankles before forcibly looking up, meeting Luke's worried expression. "I'm okay."
"Okay," Luke said, tilting his head as Din did, his lips staying in a tight line as he considered him. "I'm just— I'm worried I pressed if I overstepped—"
"Hey," Din said, his worry jumping as Luke wrapped his hands around his middle. The way he did when he was afraid when he was anxious. The way he had at fifteen, at twenty-four, at twenty-nine sitting before him on the rug embroidered with boughs of fir and roses, with a careful hand and the Naberrie's generous budget. In the space between anticipation and fulfillment, the space between Din and Luke and this unspoken barrier that stood before them. "Don't be afraid."
"I'm not—I just, I  worry…."  Luke began, "sleeping together is a big step. Sleeping in the same bed… being that close—"
"I want it," Din said suddenly, bravely, his heart stuttering with the expediency of his confession, "sleeping with you, in the same bed. I want it."

work summary: Din and Luke had always been friends, roommates, the best friend they had always wanted. And when Luke's parents ask them to visit them for Christmas in their cottage in Banff, Luke hopes that it's the opportunity to find something more.
chapter summary: Din and Luke sit down to have a conversation about their future.
my discord invite:
"We don't have to do this right now, Din," Luke said gently, rubbing his thumb over Din's, watching as he relaxed into Luke's embrace, his  touch.  "Whatever happens, whatever we talk about or—or if we talk about nothing of consequence, I want you to know that you're still my best friend."
"Is that all I am?"
Luke swallowed, looking up as Din's eyes burned into his. Reminding him of the look Din sometimes gave him when he thought Luke wasn't looking, the look when they did yoga when they surged into each other's arms after catching the same wave in the surf behind their house. The look that Luke knew had occupied his own eyes as he watched Din cut wood in his green flannel and jeans, the expression he bore when Din worked with his hands, his fingers moving gently and efficiently over metal and glass, over screws and loose bits of this and that to spin working order with his bare hands. The look they gave one another when they did dishes side by side, the softness Din lent when they shovelled the driveway in winter and had cocktails on the porch side by side in the summer. The look of companionship bordering, tipping,  eking  its way over the edge to the broadness of affection. Of love, even.
"No," Luke said finally, shifting until they sat nose to nose, Din's knees brushing against his and their breath meeting in the space between them. "No, that's not all you are to me."
Din leant forward, his forehead meeting Luke's in the fading light of day, the crimsons and golds and fiery oranges burnishing his face with light. He was so  beautiful,  the line of his eyebrows, the clothes so familiar, the soft curls of his hair as familiar to him as his own. Luke raised his hands, smiling in the space between them as he buried his fingers in Din's hair, starting before settling as Din's hand, broad and warm, settled over his heart, the other curving over his side.
"I—I like touching you," Din said, leaning back slightly before their foreheads met again. "I like holding you close; I like people knowing that we're one."
"Yeah?" Luke said, his little laugh caught by Din's fingers as they traced over his lips.
"Is that—" Din swallowed, and Luke watched in rapture as his throat jumped, "Is that something you like too?"
"Touching?" Luke said, smiling, meeting Din's eyes as his heart surged past his lips and over his tongue, into the sweet mist of affection they were building together. "Yes, but it depends on what  kind  of touching you mean."
"Holding hands?" Din offered the hand around his waist slipping forward to hold Luke's carefully.
"Yes, I like holding your hand," Luke said, dipping his hand lower across Din's face, his nails sliding down Din's facial hair, settling on his jaw, cupping it in his hand.
"What about this?" Din asked, pressing his lips to Luke's cheek, his face warming as Din's intentions lingered, his whole body pressed close to Luke's. "Kissing."
"You missed," Luke breathed, looking deeply into Din's eyes for the first time. Allowing himself the admittance of accepting this bond they shared as  love,  as shared and mutually accepted affection. This… this future that was shifting from what Luke could have ever dreamed of, ever  anticipated.

(Outing myself but I side-eye those fucking talus balls or whatever dumb name they decided to come up with any time I go past them they could have done so much else AND YET. HERE'S AN IDEA: TWO SHINY STACKS O' B A L L S)
I haven't dipped my toes yet but: Hot Springs? Maybe a gag drabble of them hitting WEM and seeing all That (second fun fact every time I send you pics I'm generally at WEM)
OH MY GODDDDDDDD
That art is just.... horrendous. And veRY BRIGHT. And Din would just... stare.
Endlessly.
"How much did it cost?"
"THAT MUCH?"
And leave muttering to himself.
There is definitely going to be some sort of hot springs moment. Going to Johnson Canyon and Lake Louise are also in the books. it's a terribly self-indulgent fic and I love it ENDLESSLY.
