who: corvi sinclaire ( @themasksheraid ) where: dorms
Alex knew it was a cliche to have a crush on your roommate. There was a whole meme dedicated to it. But the fact remained that Corvi Sinclaire was adorable and hot as fuck and Alex was super gay and not at all immune to abs propaganda. The fact that Corvi was a jock should've been a deterrent, but Alex was used to the jock world thanks to Jason, and most of the fantasy books he read featured a rough, handsome jock falling for the more sensitive and delicate protagonist so . . . maybe it could work that way in real life too.
Not that it actually would in this case, however. Alex was pretty sure Corvi was straight, which meant his pining had a bittersweet edge to it that he channeled into his writing. It ached, but it was good fuel for creativity, so Alex didn't do much to try and get rid of the feelings.
Even now, he subtly watched Corvi over the edge of his laptop screen, pretending to be working on a paper when really he was just spying on his roommate. A bad habit.

Alex shrugged lightly. "Fine, I guess. My grades aren't great right now, but all the professors feel bad for me so they're giving me a pass and extensions. So that's a silver lining." He wasn't sure what else to say. He appreciated Benja's offer, but being around family right now was . . . difficult.
Benja just let out a soft hum. "True enough. All the same, you are more than welcome to waste extra time at the library if you need to. I'm usually there late, and while I wouldn't let just anyone in after hours.... you're family. So it's different." He paused for a moment. It was stupid to ask Alex how he was feeling. "How's school been?"

“Well, I appreciate the candor,” Alex said with a slight laugh at the girl’s response. At the request, she pulled her cigarette carton out of her pocket, holding the pack out to Lizzie. “You look around my baby brother’s age. You from around here?”

Alex offered a knowing smirk, almost tempted to reveal that he wasn't human to Connor merely to see his reaction. In the end he chose against it. That kind of information was dangerous in the wrong hands, not only to himself but to those he held most dear. "Me? I dunno. I guess it would depend on what kind of creature I was talking to and if it was going to eat my face off or not."
"Hey, don't get yourself hurt or in trouble on my account." He cautioned, stark blue eyes passing over the other male for a lingering moment. "Hey, how about we get a drink from the bar while the tech guys get all this shit set up? I doubt we're helping any just standing in the way."
He chuckles and then looks at the other closely "I would walk quickly away if they weren't into humans or anything else and hope that maybe talking to them would keep them from killing me which it probably wouldn't but it would be nice to just try to pull my ass out of trouble." Connor then cocks an eyebrow at the other "What would you do in that situation?"
He tilts his head to the side with a thoughtful look "I guess I could just go up there and make sure that the lights are in place for you but I'm not someone who sets that stuff up so I wouldn't know my ass from a hole in the ground." Connor laughs then bring up a hand to brush an errant waves of hair back behind his ear "The only thing that I do in the place is have fun and hope that if there's anything here it's having fun too."

who: helena theriot ( @roadmosttaken ) where: crabby bookworm bookstore
Alex ran his fingers over the spines of the books in the fantasy section, searching for a specific author. He'd read and reread his favorite series multiple times, but he hadn't really been keeping up with what had come out more recently. He was trying to see if the bookstore had any new books from this author in stock, but his hand fell away with a sigh.
"Sucks," he muttered to himself, guessing he still needed to wait. He sighed and turned back to his cart, knowing he needed to actually work while he was there. He was only part-time but he took his job seriously.

“Ah, it’s okay, darling,” Alex said with a small smile, holding a napkin out to Mattie. “I’m sure it ain’t nothing these guys haven’t seen before. They just like staring at pretty girls covered in blood. Freak shows, the lot of them!” She waved her hand dismissively. “Anyway, you can use my napkin. Fix you right up. I’m Alex by the way.”

"Uh..." He'd never really thought about it before. Heights had never bothered him while on stage, but that was a far cry from jumping out of a plane. "I don't think they do? I tend to keep my feet on the ground. So you're an adrenaline junkie I take it?"
we3devils:
“That depends completely on the adventure.” Alex countered before turning his gaze to the other. He wasn’t the best at talking to people, and came off as either cold or awkward. “What did you have in mind?”
He considered for a moment. “Nothing that’s too much of a spectacle or my manager will lose it.” And he wasn’t actively trying to make her job harder. He just got bored when he wasn’t doing something wild. He pulled out his phone to see what the area had to offer. There were parties, but that scene was getting a bit boring. “…have you ever been skydiving? Or ziplining? How’re you with heights?”

“Whoa kid! It’s been a while, what gives?” Alex exclaimed as she noticed Matt and made her way over to him, taking a drag off her cigarette. “You never call, you never write . . . I didn’t even know you were out.” She reached up to ruffle his hair. “How’s my baby brother doing, huh?”

“Oh hell, whadda know,” Alex said, taking the square and dabbing at the edge of her mouth to find that there was, indeed, some lipstick there. “I must’ve had my eyes closed when I did my makeup this morning, eh? Thanks, stranger. You smoke?” She held her pack of cigarettes out to Joe. “It’s cool if you don’t, I always offer just in case, ya know? Feel free to tell me to fuck off too, I know I came at you kinda hot and heavy there.”

“Yo, hey, you wanna take a picture? It’ll last longer,” Alex called to the person she thought was watching her as she stood outside the bar smoking a cigarette. She flicked some ash onto the ground, squinting in the setting sun. “I don’t have any money if you’re trying to rob me. I’m broke. If you’re gonna murder me just make sure you do it quick, eh? I’ve got a low tolerance for pain.”

“He does that sometimes, it’s probably fine. I mean, he doesn’t get enough sleep, but who does these days am I right?” Alex shrugged over-dramatically. “I don’t need to know where you’ve stuck your junk thank you very much, but you’re probably right that it’s a bad idea to get involved in the new court in any way, safe for work or not.” She shook her head with a smirk.
mytarnishedsilver:
“Well you know I’m down for extra hours if you need me,” Alex said, nudging him back. “It’s not like I have much of a life outside of bartending.” She shrugged. “Nothing exciting happens to me. I saw an interesting leaf, my brother fell asleep mid-conversation, that’s about it.” Honestly her life wasn’t that exciting at the moment, and being a bartender in a swanky underground speakeasy was about as close to exciting as her life could get.

“I’d appreciate the help, if you’re willing to give it. Once I get the notification system set up, I’ll get it lined up to send you an’ Kirby information on when we’re opened up. Should be most nights we’re not using it for clan business, or nights I’m stayin’ in with like, Fee, Eddie an’ Sid. It is still in my house, after all, soundproof it may be, I still don’t want random folk bargin’ in on movie night or drunk around my kindergartner.” He reasons, listening as Alex details her relatively boring recent events. “Does your brother often jus’ fall asleep mid-conversation?” he wonders aloud. “I guess there ain’t too much exciting going on that’s not fae court related, and that’s a whole different can a’ worms to get involved in. I’m known for puttin’ my junk in places that are problematic but I’ve already technically gotten myself more involved with the royal court than I should have so I think I’ll stick to the bar- maybe nothing exciting is a blessin’.”

“Yeah, I saw you over there talking to that cute police officer. Is my baby brother crushing on law enforcement? You know that’s going to hurt your street cred,” Alex teased, taking the watermelon bowl from him to take a bite. It was delicious. She quickly stuffed her cheeks before having to stop with a grimace. “Ugh, brain freeze.”
"Sorry, I got kind of distracted for a moment" Matt was supposed to meet Alex over near where the live music had been set up and there were a few actual sitting places that had been set up. "I got you some of that stuff from the Hyuns though. Watermelon of course" he said as he set both bowls onto the table and moved to sit down next to her. He'd gotten kiwi for himself.

"Sounds like a pretty good time to me. What kind of shitty movies?"
Like Myra, Alex didn't talk much about his family or life, at least not with people he didn't know well. Yet here the siren was spilling his guts like a teenager on his first day.
we3devils:
“Jesus…and I thought my family was fucked. Well, at least the part I know about anyway.” Alex had never been truly convinced by some of the stories his mom had told him about his father and extended family, but hadn’t spoken his suspicions aloud.
“Yeah, it does. So now that we’ve sung the blues, how do we turn this around?”
“Cheap pizza and shitty movies, usually.”
Myra didn’t really talk about her life as much as this, preferring to push it down and ignore it as much as possible, but here she was, confessing to him like she had no other choice.

"Oh." Alex nodded, shifting his weight from foot to foot. "I get it, trust me. Family first, right? ....Will you keep in touch?"
Cat sighed looking up at Alex, “yea. My dad needs me home…it’s complicated” she ran her hand through her hair. “When my dad says come home… I don’t have a choice.”
