I just heard that there will be a public hearing tomorrow for the bill to ban the purposeful killing of sharks and rays in Hawaii, if you’re in Hawaii and can attend please go to the state capitol speak up for sharks. Movies like MEG and some of the shows on Shark Week just aim to capitalize off demonizing sharks and while they should just be entertaining many people are legitimately so scared from watching “Jaws” type media that they dont sympathize or care that sharks are being brought to the brink of extinction.  Its true, sharks are not puppies, they are apex predators and need to be respected as such because they play an important role keeping the marine ecosystems that all life relies on healthy and in balance. But they are not the monsters they are so often depicted as and the reality is they have more to fear from humans. With less than 10 human fatalities world wide from a shark bite compared to the over 70,000,000 sharks being unsustainably slaughtered every year mostly for wasteful practices like #Sharkfinsoup and #sharkfishing Its time to turn the tide before its too late.  Please join me in helping to raise awareness for the importance of sharks and their plight #HelpSaveSharks Please Repost and Tag.
