Hello my bloglings
Today as stated in yesterday's blog will be all about svalbard, for those who don't know svalbard is a island near the north pole owned by Norway, on svalbard lies longyearbyen the farthest North permanent town ever.
It has to be one of the most beautiful places ever (just look it up!) and as you know I love the cold, also it isnt even that remote with it having wifi and an airport, I can just imagine getting an apartment or house maybe a cabin (cabin usually dont have running water but it might be worth it) i would make it super cozy I dont like generic houses much so I would try and differentiate the living room make it super homey yknow. And then maybe a greenhouse or like plant room, i have always wanted to garden though im not very good with the plants I have owned 😅
Its not like it will be just snowy though (I would like it to be) since svalbard does have summer. As an American it wouldn't be too hard to move in aswell since everyone speaks English, I would like to learn Norwegian though since it would probably up the chances of getting a job. With almost 3,000 people in all of the island it is pretty small population, I dont know if this is an upside or downside, but I would not care much if I just got to live there, did I mention it has the aurora borealis?
I dont think I need that fun or good of a job either if I got to wake up everyday to svalbard! Its not like there is just a town either i used to watch Cecilia idk her last name she is a vlogger who lives on svalbard and she was talking about how there is something new to do there each day, with gorgeous hikes (that you know im a sucker for) they have indoor tennis courts, and a movie theater, there is always something to do. She also talked about how there are jobs that house you so thats cool.
Some fun facts is that there is a pretty big Thai population on svalbard why? I have no idea, it was established as a coal mining town though coal production stopped in just 2015 and they have taken most of remaining things down to give it back to nature, there are polar bears and reindeer and even friggin whales that pass by svlabard which is just too cool! Svalbard is also home to the global seed vault which houses the world's seeds incase of disaster! Also so people do not just buy svalbard you cannot buy a house or cabin until living there for 6 months I think it was, which isn't so bad.
I will be honest there are some negatives aswell though due to being so high north there is 100 days of pure dark and 100 days of light in the year, while that sounds cool like day is dark and I like the nighttime ascetic I can imagine it can grt draining waking up to the same thing for a two thirds of the year, also the population is growing more than houses are being built so it is probably hard to find a house, also it is expensive to live there since all the groceries are exported from other places, though I dont think I need much food to live. Due to global warming svalbard is also becoming warmer, which means that the affects of it will be most seen there. Also this goes for any foreign place but you would have to leave everyone behind which for me isnt too big of a problem, since I dont have many people, I would be sad to leave my brother though, adding onto that none of these are deal breakers for me.
Also it is hard to talk about svalbard without mentioning my svalbard brother they are my partner in crime in our love of svalbard, I should probbably ask what they want to be called cause I've basically just been using gender neutral terms. So my svalbard brother takes care of the loneliness issue so yeah I'm set. My bloglings you should come too, everyone should come lol!
