The way Azirphale is underestimated and practically infantalized by heaven is so closely tied to his femininity and I think we should talk about it more because I just want to shout about how relatable the way he's treated in his workplace is as a woman working in a traditionally male field

It's in all the little niggling comments from your boss about personal things that hold no bearing on your work

and the assumption that what you're doing must be simple if it was assigned to you

your work is trivialized

and you get these the placating smiles when you're told plans and proposals are rejected and passed over

or when your complaints are dismissed

and you get more of the same from upper management

it all feels so frustrating and draining but you're at work so all you can do is take a breathe put on that mask and move on with your day

It is all so deteimental to your emotional well being and textually, so much of this is tied to Aziraphale's softness, his gayness - his femininity

The thing about working in an environment and gives you this feeling - of being simultaneously destrought watching your belief in yourself get chipped away but also just so irate becuase you know you don't deserve it - is how it builds. It sinks under your skin and feeds into this indignant dejection until you can have a moment of release - but Azirphale doesn't get to bitch about it over drinks with friends, he doesn't get a lunch break where he can go for a walk and listen to an angry scandi death metal playlist, he doesn't even get the chance to cry about it in the bathroom for 5 minutes before confronting it again

(And I talked a little bit about it in the tags of this beautiful photoset but this all comes into play whenever Crowley dismisses his plans or calls him an idiot. These are purely emotional reactions; I really don't think Crowley means much by it - he respects Aziraphale's opinion and genuinely thinks he's brilliant - but Crowley is so quick to use this terminology when Aziraphale is making a decision Crowley thinks is wrong and he doesn't know how much this hurts Aziraphale. Just like Aziraphale doesn't understand the true impact the Fall had on Crowley, Crowley doesn't understand the ways heaven has been tearing away at Aziraphale's self worth)

Aziraphale has been facing this constant drip of denigration since before the beginning of time and has never released the pressure valve. At this point, he's a bomb waiting to go off

One thing I think about entirely too often is Cyclone’s face after warlock says “no turning back now.”

Like the whole scene just fascinates me.

He looks uneasy when the daggers are chosen, and terrified during the entire mission. From a storytelling perspective it’s implied that this is him finally reckoning with the full weight of the situation and realizing that there’s nothing more he can do to change things. Which to me makes sense for someone who was so controlling over the training parameters and mission planning.

What I also think is interesting is how similar the look on his face in this scene is to the one he makes when they’re in his office and Maverick says “-and how to come home, sir”.

(Which to me never came across like him having a sudden realization, but more so a look of surprise?? Whether by Maverick’s forwardness or that Mav thinks he hasn’t been considering that. This is a topic for another time...)

Anyway, throughout the movie Cyclone is supposed to be this super stern villain character who only cares about the objective, but he just… isn’t? Like obviously he’s a no nonsense type who wants the mission accomplished, but his way of going about things just doesn’t line up with the actions of someone who doesn’t genuinely care about the aviators. Something I think is especially obvious when you compare him to someone like Admiral Cain, who canonically couldn’t care less about the aviators.

Just saw these on Facebook, and I am kind of in awe at the difference in the two pictures. Clear, visible space between David and Jon...but meanwhile not an inch of space between David and Michael. They just look...so cozy, so wrapped up in each other, even five years ago. It's something really beautiful to hold onto in these dark and difficult times...

In case there was anyone that still doesn't believe these two could play either Aziraphale or Crowley and knock it out of the park each time. Acting off each other like that is tremendously impressive. PUT THEM IN MORE STUFF TOGETHER.

For context, the interviewer asked David and Michael to read a scene from Hamlet, as Hamlet, with Jon as Ophelia. The initial idea was that they would read a line each, but they both complained that it was unfair. So she suggested they read a sentence each. And chaos ensues.

Transcript:

MS: Get thee to a nunnery.

DT: Why wouldst thou be a breeder of sinners?

MS: I am myself indifferent honest, but yet I could accuse me of such things that it were better my mother had not borne me:

DT: I am very proud, revengeful, ambitious, with more offens-

MS: With m-

DT: No, that's a colon!

JH: That's a semicolon.

MS: Sorry, yeah, I'm sorry.

DT: With more offenses at my beck than I have thoughts to put them in, imagination- to put them in imagina- I- I- I- can't read this.

MS: Go, keep going, keep going.

DT: It's been a while. Imagination to give them shape, or time to act them in.

What makes me feel Emotions on the new sneak peek is how aziraphale is clearly not comfortable around gabriel. How he raises his voice and steps back and stays in a safe distance at all times. Because aziraphale is now seen as a traitor in heaven and gabriel basically tried to burn him alive. So its understandable that hes scared and skeptical because the guy who sees him as a traitor and tried to kill him suddenly appeared at his doorstep.

And also gabriel is like the second most powerful angel on heaven. I saw someone say that its as if jeff bezos appeared at some amazon workers house and honestly. Yeah.

So what im trying to say is. Aziraphale is surely gonna be all stressed out this season :( bc of gabriel

-He doesn't like David Tennant's face bc he looks "too English" (I guess he can't have good taste in everything)

-He loves how Michael Sheen played "an absolute buffoon of a man-shaped guy" (affectionate)

-He said he liked s2 more than s1 because "I don't give a shit about the antichrist plot I'm just here for their relationship"

-He said his favorite part was seeing their friendship progress "up until the red haired one kisses his friend"

-He's looking forward to them finally getting together properly in s3

top gun as a franchise is so funny bc the original was quite literally one of the best military propaganda tools (and is also quite fondly remembered for a scene where half naked men play volleyball) because it made so many young people think that they TOO could be a """"hero""""" navy pilot and then like, several decades later, a sequel is made because tom cruise's main character syndrome needed to let everyone know that HE was the cool action hero. not the navy pilots.

The scene where Gabriel keeps startling Aziraphale and gets asked to make a noise when he moves around would have fallen so completely flat if it hadn’t been played by Liz Lemon’s two least seen boyfriends. Their acting rescued what could have been something severely lame.

Liz Lemon’s least important boyfriends and yes they slay at both dramatic and comedic acting.
