#also obviously in addition to very tame political actions like writing to your rep you should also look into mutual aid and direct action

hey! you might have heard about KOSA, a bill the united states congress is considering passing that could lead to unimaginable internet censorship. if you live in the united states, you also might have heard people telling you to call or write to your representatives asking them to oppose it.
you also might think that's a lot of effort and it probably won't do anything. after all, if your rep is a republican, they'll probably never listen to you anyway, and if your rep is a democrat, they probably already agree with you.
HOWEVER. this isn't a "democrats vs republicans" bill — it's actually a (horrible!) bipartisan effort. and because it isn't being argued about on partisan lines, that means that — in a surprising twist! — they may actually listen to what their constituency wants. even if they're a republican.
so! the EFF set up a website where you type in your address, it generates a list of all your representatives, and then generates a detailed letter asking them to oppose KOSA. you can personalize it if you like... or you can just hit send.
it only takes three minutes. without exaggeration. if you vote in the united states: do it!
