FOR THE RECORD swoon (1992) differs from other films inspired by the leopold and loeb murder by using the killers’ queerness to make them sympathetic, choosing instead to highlight their narcissism, wealth, and entitlement as the source of their villainy, while films such as rope (1948) and compulsion (1959) imply that it is their homosexuality which is villainous
