I swear Tumblr is such a saboteur. First the 1000 blocks per post. Now this. Then the possible shadowbanning. It's like they want me to stop writing :/ In light of this I may have to push the publishing of Part 4: Finale for a bit, until I can get the tags to work again :/ ((dont scream at me, it's all tumblr's fault))

i can totally get the frustration nonnie, tumblr is an absolute ass abt these things😩💔 absolutely don't apologise!! i say this a lot, but idm if ppl need to vent and choose to do so here bc i want this to be a safe space for as many ppl as it can be🥰 that being said, i will share a few reasons i think this could be happening;

depending on how new your blog is, sometimes it takes a while to pop up in the tags — i'd say about 2-3 days, and you have to kinda do what tumblr deems 'human' activity like reblog and like posts?? obviously, if you've had your blog for a while, then that isn't really an explanation tho🤧 sometimes it also just takes a couple of minutes,, or hours🙄 ik of some content creators on here who just delete the og and repost it if their works don't appear within a set time frame (which is valid bc they've worked hard on their stuff and deserve the visibility)

your posts won't show up in tags if your actual blog has been shadowbanned (which i don't think is the case bc i got your ask which i believe wouldn't be possible if that were true), but it'd probably still be good to check if your ability to message others here isnt impacted. tumblr shadowbans over really stupid stuff so😔

i honestly really hate the tumblr algorithm myself when it comes to showing up in tags, i literally don't even check bc ik it'll just frustrate me. unfortunately, if you're trying to grow your blog, then it's kinda important to be able to have that reach and in that sense i think reblogs do a lot to get posts circulating as they should be.

whatever the issue is, i hope things work out for you nonnie🥺🩷 it's really annoying when all you want is your hard work to be able to have that chance of recognition, so i understand. you're gonna be able to do it, so keep at it, okay? you got this😌💕

and i know, tumblr isnt going away tomorrow. but...tumblr is changing tomorrow, forever. theres a post going around talking about how tumblr became the perfect site for so many weirdos like me because its one of the worst-managed social media platforms out there. i think theres a lot of validity to that statement. but tomorrow, tumblr is going to be siccing an algorithm on us. you know, something that real websites use to try to moderate and curate content. tumblr, the website where for a certain period of time posts wouldnt get notes. people wouldnt show up on each others feeds. tumblr, the site where for years you couldnt reblog a basic post type just. because. is going to be in charge of something that even the social media giants like youtube and twitter lose the reigns of from time to time. 

the policy changes are fucking devastating for the sex workers and nsfw artists who have built up their careers here. only giving them two weeks during the busiest time of the year feels especially shitty and malicious on tumblr’s part. and who is this protecting, really? most nsfw people and communities on this site are as thorough as humanly possible to make sure that minors do not see their content, while the bots that theyre actually trying to get rid of will shove ads on any old post. 

but, i worry that sex workers and nsfw artists are only the first victims of this. already, blogs dedicated to all kinds of subjects that tumblr claims will be spared, are being flagged mercilessly. that post going around about visual artists being shadowbanned is also fucking terrifying. im almost 100% positive that tumblr will go through the same shit that youtube did about false-flagging lgbt content in the name of ‘family friendliness,’ except this site practically IS lgbt content. shit’s gonna hit the fan, folks. tumblr is serious about getting this website to an advertiser-friendly and app-store compliant state, no matter what the cost.

suddenly it feels like we’ve all been on borrowed time. its like ever since the yahoo buyout theyve been trying to figure out how to make this shithole profitable all while its userbase have been turning it in to something deeply connected and personal behind their backs. those days are over, it seems. tumblr has finally gotten its shit together (or so it thinks) and is now looking to clean out all of the Undesirable Content before the bosses show up.
