I don't know when I'll ever write this, but I've had this AU in the back of my mind ever since Bendy and the Dark Revival came out, and it's best to get it out of my head before it festers and rots.
More or less, it's BatDR and the DCA smashed into one. The premise is that you are an animator at Fazbear Studios and Sun and Moon are humans who go by Cyrus and Mani respectively, employed as voice actors. (First AU with human Sun and Moon whoo! don't get attached though) Vanessa is a janitor who is a bit odd, mostly keeping to herself though sometimes you feel like she's starting at your back when you're alone.
Cyrus and Mani perform as extras in the Fazbear cartoon, adding supporting voices for side characters and miscellaneous lines. Cyrus often supplies humorous, wacky, and surreal voices to his performances. Mani tends to get villainous or spooky characters with his deeper, raspier voice. They both enjoy what they do and love that they can work together as brothers.
You can't help but notice Cyrus and Mani. You admire their skill, their passion, and their smiles, and you sometimes even work up the courage to wave at Cyrus or Mani whenever one of the brothers happens to pass by your work desk.
They inspire you—not just with their work, but with their small acts of care. You find coffee on your desk when you return from a meeting with the other animators with a little smiling sun doodled on the cup. Sometimes, Cyrus asks you to join him on a walk since it's your lunch break and you could really use some sunshine and a chance to stretch your legs. When it gets far too late and you're burning the midnight oil, Mani is somehow always there, doing a funny voice to surprise you with a little reminder that it's past your bedtime. He leaves you little treats in blue wrappers, hidden in places on your desk, among your ink and papers.
It's not a surprise that you start drawing a character for them in your rare off hours when you still have the energy to hold a pencil. The Fazbear cartoon could add a new, permanent character. A robotic jester, lanky and tall, but with two forms for the day and night, funny and sweet and mischievous. Cyrus and Mani could both voice him!
That's silly, however. Fazbear Studios does not want your chaotic and half-brained scribbles nor do you dare show the brothers what they inspired—they might hate it. You keep your little jester character tucked away, along with a small doodle of a minor, nobody, gray character who may or may not be a tag along to the main act that is the jester. Your sketches and concept art are hidden away, far from where the light of day or the shine of night will ever see.
It goes missing one day. You're upset and asking everyone who went through your desk. No one confesses. Cyrus tells you that it'll be okay, he'll help you find it. Mani suggests that you keep locks on your drawers from now on.
It's never found, not that you wanted either of them to stumble upon it. Yet, they stay late with you after everyone has gone home, looking for your precious and secretive sketchbook through the many departments of the studio.
Somewhere along the way, Cyrus disappears, promising to return with your sketchbook. You lose Mani in the audio department before, oh, there's Vanessa. She tells you to come to the basement with her—she found your notebook. You're relieved but a little put off by Vanessa and reluctantly follow her down into the dark.
You don't find your sketchbook, but you do find Cyrus slumped against the wall, blood trickling down his temple, and a strange collection of shrines to one of the studio's cartoon characters.
Before you can rush to his side, pain explodes in your skull, cracking white across your vision. You fall to the ground, dazed, as Vanessa gives a cryptic promise to return with the last sacrifice. You manage to crawl across the floor in your pitiful state to reach Cyrus and attempt to revive him, but by then, Mani is walking in. His shock overtakes him but he dodges a swipe of Vanessa's wrench and starts struggling against her. You try desperately to drag Cyrus somewhere safe as he murmurs for you to get out of here, but in the middle of Vanessa's and Mani's fight, she flips a switch and ink begins filling the room.
The black flood sweeps Cyrus away from you. Pages spill out from the inside of Vanessa's vest, dozens of sketches of your jester character. You cry out. Mani looks to you. Vanessa at last shoves Mani into the surge of onyx liquid beside Cyrus, and you watch both of them go under together. You scream their names. She turns to you, grinning.
The last thing you remember is Vanessa shoving your head into the ink.
Then it's the only thing you remember. You're vaguely aware that your jet-black hands are strange and shiny, and that you don't know where you are in this sepia-colored studio, but you know something's not right. You're missing someone, and someone else. You're scared.
You wander around for a bit until you're attacked by monsters emerging from the ink, shrieking and wailing in gluey dark forms until a wonderful and terrifying automaton arrives. He destroys such a creature about to tear you apart. He stands so tall, detailed with sharp teeth and even sharper sun rays around his large, flat face, but you think you recognize those yellow eyes—a living cartoon.
He helps you calm down and asks for your name in a loud and funny voice that rings like a bell in your mind but you can't name the tune. You don't remember your name. He doesn't remember his either. He leads you away from the harsher spaces of the studio, somewhere 'safer'. You don't know if there is anything as safe, but you feel better with him.
You're startled when after a time, in the middle of talking to this sunshine character, he melts and morphs and bubbles until a crescent moon face emerges and a new grin. You panic before a darker, raspier voice, like a cartoon villain, tells you it's alright. He's here, too. He's not sure what's going on but he, and the other 'him', and you are gonna make it out of here, somehow.
You don't have hope anywhere else but in this unique robot jester, and he seems to want you to stay close to him. So it's you two, the last sane partnership in the crazed and dripping studios, fighting off ink creatures and surviving other bizarre characters. You learn how to wield a gent pipe and the jester is strong on his own, often able to tear things apart or toss monsters off of you before they can do worse. He has claws and teeth and he uses them well.
Vanny is a lady rabbit and a constant threat. She's smart and cunning, unlike the other mostly senseless attackers. She keeps tracking the two of you down and spouting off the religious rhetoric of Inktrap, promising that your sacrifices will be well worth the pain. You had to be introduced to the cycle. The ink has corrupted you perfectly. You are part of this place. You are never leaving and will give in to Inktrap.
You and he avoid Inktrap at all costs. You've only caught glimpses of the shadowy, pitch-black beast, but that's all you need to see as you both hide and hold your breaths until the danger just barely passes by.
You start to call the daytime jester Sun, and he seems to respond to it. The nighttime joker is Moon, and he neither hates nor loves it, but he answers when you call. He has a name for you, too, or rather names. Peach, bird, thrill, calico, and sweetheart. He gets creative and goofy. You think he's being mean sometimes but he tells you he's not, he means it, and you don't know how to take that before you two have to focus on escaping this part of the studio and getting into safer areas. You protect his back and he protects yours, and together, you make this living, unending nightmare bearable. Sharing bacon soup, falling asleep in Moon's lap, and patching up any drips in Sun's inky form becomes something like a life.
It just never stops, repeating over and over. The jester deserves better than this, whatever happened to him. You know you both do.
You become determined to learn how the cycle works and how to prevent it from going on. There's a funny feeling you have that, somehow, you're going to have to go through Vanny and the Inkdemon. One day, you will get the jester and yourself free.
You need to see his and your happy ending.

amateur: the epilogue
summary: In the last chapter of amateur I decided to take a different route and make it a filler chapter. mostly because i wanted to continue on my story with Harry and Love. Here we learn more about them together and get a front row seat of what goes on in their daily life. Things get personal and promises are made.
warning: very short, cute fluff, plans for the future, things are moving fast, Harry freaks out a little
wc: 1.7k
Harry insisted I come to his house. He said he has very big, life changing news. With his frequent meetings at Sterlings office, they've had plenty of time to discuss the many possible career opportunities they can do together. Harry recently got asked by Sterling to manage him for the foreseeable future. At first, I was confused. What could he possibly need a manager for?
Immediately after hearing Harry sing and getting all the information in full detail, it's something I see working out and strongly encouraged. Sterling sure does have an amazing eye for talent. Him picking up on that has me jumping for joy. The prospect of him having his dream come true is going to be worth all the effort he's already started putting in.
When I get to the front door I pick up the spare key Harry leaves for me from under the doormat. It's mostly quiet when I enter, aside from a small voice that echoes through the living room. Harry is humming quietly to himself but it's beautiful nonetheless. Ever since I found out that he can sing, I ask him every chance I get to serenade me. He always gets so shy. I find it so precious. The past three month has been mainly us getting to know each other more. Cute things mostly. I've noticed when he eats, he sticks his tongue out a little before putting the food in his mouth. It makes me giggle every time I see his little tongue jab out to reach the spoon. Oh, and for some odd reason when he sleeps on his back, he sleeps talks. it's not even normal conversation either, it's just a bunch of demands. The kicker is that if I don't listen it'll cause a chain reaction of being manhandled, him will force me on top of his chest and knock right out like nothing even happened. To make it all worse he's a literal portable heater. I stopped wearing pajamas to sleep because of him. It's just too hot. He's an avid hater for mornings, which is fine by me cause I do too. But, his true love is breakfast in bed. "Can't go wrong with some sunny side up eggs, with two sausages and a stack of pancakes." He says.
We've also discussed the basics of any human being. My allergies being the first question he asked, which threw me for a loop.
*Three Week Ago*
"What are you allergic to, other than cats?"
"That's a long list," I say, widening my eyes and scuffing a little. "Cats as you know, when I get scratched by them the cut swells up so much and itches pretty bad. Their saliva causes me to mildly rash up in the area. Same with dogs. I'm severely allergic to bunnies. Grass, trees, mildly allergic to kiwis but I still eat them, and pineapples." I finish off, grabbing one finger for every one thing I name.
I don't notice how quiet it's been while I'm trying to think if I'm missing anything until I've already blurted out the last thing. "Oh, and peanut butter, mildly!" I've lived with these minuscule imperfections for majority of my life, all my food allergies came as age crept up on me. I look up at Harry when I finish, hyper-focused on the floor trying to get all the information out. He looks like he's seen a ghost.
"Why would you eat or be around things you are allergic to?! Are you mad?! Love, please tell me you're joking?" His voice is jumpy and his eyes are bulging out in shock.
"Mildly, Harry. I won't die from these things. Well, the bunny maybe." I joke, trying to lighten up the mood. My statement only causes him to freak out even more.
"Do you not care about your life?"
"Mildly," I laugh at my own joke. "It's fine though. I'm usually cautious when I eat things I'm mildly allergic to. In terms of my allergies to animals, I love them. I can withstand sneezing to have a life companion." I say with a smile.
Harry's face visibly relaxes, he's been trying hard to understand why I have Finnegan if I'm so obviously allergic to her. My love for Finnegan goes far beyond my comfortability, he's finally starting to understand.
"I know bee, it's just still a shock that you put your body through allergic reactions for things you want to enjoy. It makes me nervous." The use of the new nickname he gave me, causes a tight-lipped smile to form on my face. He rubs the back of his neck, awkwardly avoiding eye contact.
"Oh! Dust, can't forget dust." I say loudly. Harry groans, smacking his hand against his forehead in frustration. "So, any siblings?"
*
We continue to learn new things about each other, and I'm happy as can be that he wants to share things about himself with me. It's a nice feeling being so close to someone, it's still not something I'm used to but it's gets easier everyday. I walk through his house, following the sound of his voice. I finally make my way to the kitchen and he's stood by the stove, wooden spoon in hand. No music is playing, just the taps of his bare feet and his melodic humming.
I walk around the kitchen island, trying not to make myself too noticeable. I don't want to scare him from continuing. My arms snake around his torso, pressing my palms against his chest. My head softly lands on his back, and my ear is pressed firmly to his spine. His heart picks up in rhythm, not expecting me to be behind him. The humming stops immediately.
"Don't stop, keep going," I whisper, giving back the quiet I took away.
"I'll sing for you in a minute, come here." He pulls my arms away from him and turns to me.
He grabs my face softly and stares into my eyes. He strokes the pads of his thumbs on the apple of my cheeks, analyzing my face so intensely I start to worry if the big news is bad. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing, I just missed you. How's my busy busy bee?"
"I missed you too, I'm here," I say, reaching out to clutch his shirt. I never feel close enough when I'm with him, "I've been really good, I have a couple of auditions coming up! Sterling's been throwing them at me left and right, but I don't mind. If getting experience is what I need to help my career, I'll do it." I feel so silly always having a smile all the time, but it's him. Everything about him and my new life has me smiling from ear to ear. Harry's is obviously a good omen in my life and I'm grateful. I breathe his scent in as I talk with him, he smells of sunflower seeds and sunblock. The scent has become a comfort smell for me since we started dating. "So, tell me. What's the big news?" I take a step backward towards the island and jump up. Harry moves in between my dangling legs.
"Remember how I told you Sterling wants to manage me?" He looks at me for my answer, I nod. "Well, he's found a recording company that's interested in my music!"
"No fucking way, that's amazing!" I pull him into a big wet kiss. I continue my kiss train, planting another on his nose, then his cheek, and the other immediately after. I manage to kiss every part of his face before he's in a fit of giggles over my affection.
"Yeah, he said they want to meet up with me and discuss a few things but they have a contract made already! They want me to make an album!" Excitement is laced in his words. I could burst with happiness for him. This is something he's wanted but always felt like it was too late for him. He once told me how he was pushing forty and just couldn't see anyone being interested in helping him with his music career so late in the game. When Sterling first showed interest he brushed it off, not even trying to get his hopes up. The only reason he went along with it at first, was because I kept nagging him about it with Sterling one night at dinner.
"You're doing it, right?!" My hands swing out beside me in question as I yell out to him.
"I think so."
"Why not a solid yes? What's stopping you?" Questions fall from my mouth. I can't understand why he didn't just say yes.
"You."
"Me? Why me? What did I do?" My confusion only grows.
"We only started talking a month ago, but I feel the need to speak to you before I make any decisions."
I feeling seen in this joyous moment. His dream comes true and he's worried about what I think about it. He makes my body feel like silly putty when he does things like this. "That's very thoughtful of you, Harry. It means a lot, but you didn't stop me from taking the job at The Garden or any of the auditions that have been thrown at me. It would be beyond wrong of me to get in the way. What kind of person would that make me?" His eyes are stuck on my face as I talk.
"You have to say yes, Harry."
"But-"
"No buts. You are so talented. You deserve this! This is your dream, you gave me mine. Follow yours or you'll regret it for the rest of your life." I push my feelings out. I want him to know this is okay and that I'll support him no matter what.
"Okay, okay fine. I will. I'll text Sterling when I'm done with dinner." He childishly rolls his eyes.
"You're making dinner?"
"Yeah, it's a special night. Plus, I wanted to do something for you." He shyly smiles down at my thighs.
"Aw, sweetness! It's your special night, I'll take over for you."
"You sure?" He asks.
"Yes, but before I do, promise me something?"
"What is it?"
"When you get all famous don't you forget about me, okay?"
He laughs at me, tightening his grip on my thighs. He nods and presses a small kiss to my lips.
"I could never forget you, I promise."

"Mary pack your things. Your time's come."
Sitting bolt upright it felt like ice was running through her veins. What had her father done now to have her sent away? It was Friday so it must have been a card game. The meaning of her mother's words fell heavy on her heart. Just last week Jennie Murray had gotten married to a man old enough to be her father because her father's dealings with a horse sale fell through when the carthorse dropped dead. Two months before that a poker game went badly for Ruby Miller's family and she ended up married to a fellow who liked to drink a little too much. Last Mary knew she'd seen Ruby sporting a shiner so dark it would have been comical as hell on anyone else. Now it was her turn.
"Change always comes in threes, Mary. You're going to have a good life."
Was what her mother left her with before pressing a small pouch of silver and gold into her hands to hide amongst her things. Instinctively Mary knew what this was, the nest egg for 'just in case'. Usually used for when the man of the house lost his job or needed to be bailed out. Her father on the other hand left her with a trunk with a full service of china and silver, a linen tablecloth and her Granny Mary's crucifix as well as a box with a sterling silver lock much like the one that Granny also wore as a necklace. That had been buried with her over in the churchyard some time ago. As the eldest child ( she was technically the eldest twin) it had been her responsibility to set a good example and as much as she was terrified she tried her very best to not let it show. As her mother and sister helped her dress she bit the inside of her cheek to keep from screaming. To keep the tears pushed down. Her best friend Josephine was away visiting her grandparents so a letter, no matter how smudged the ink or tear streaked it was Mary Alaura poured her soul and very worries out. Apologies for the millions of lives and dreams they'd had together. Now that had to be put away and shelved in a space in her heart that she would forever cherish. Standing in front of the looking glass in her bedroom she didn't recognize the reflection. Dressed in the brightest white dress she'd ever seen she felt she glowed. The stiff high lace collar and sleeves made her feel like a doll as the skirt swished. Her face was still hers as she watched her long dark hair be carefully brushed, perfumed and braided with small red roses and ivy Ruth had found somewhere. Once her mother and sister were finished her face was dusted lightly with powder and her lips stained an equally rich red as the flowers in her hair. This was not the girl that woke up this morning. She was helped to step into her heeled buttoned boots and was cried over for twenty minutes while she tried her hardest to keep herself together.
'I don't even know his name so I couldn't even tell you what my new last name will be. I love you and please stay safe.'
A flourish and her name was signed just as she stuffed it into the envelope she heard a commotion outside. Stepping out onto the front porch, thankfully covered from the rain that pelted down in sideways sheets she heard hooves. The sound seemed to surround her, it was steady like a pulsing heartbeat. Off in the distance she thought she saw a flash of light. The family pack of dogs, lean looking whippet dogs that her father had brought home after a successful card game. She called them her sight hounds. Her mother seemed to think that more than two of them had coyote or coy dog in them. A pair of gleaming Friesians pulled an equally gleaming carriage. The lanterns on each side were lit and gleamed along with the hinges and knobs like quicksilver. The carriage came to a complete stop the horses standing quietly as the rain came down staring silently at the hounds.
A tall thin gentleman dressed in a tasteful black suit and overcoat exited the carriage and walked towards her. His black leather shoes were obviously handmade, she recognized her uncle Yancy's stitchwort anywhere. This man had money.
"Good evening. I'm Charles William Hoyt Hill."
He reached out a hand to Mary as he stood before her and her hounds. She noticed that his stormy blue eyes held the same twinge of grey her green eyes did. Two halves of the same being awoke that stormy evening after centuries of long slumber on the mountain top with rushing roaring waters.

GOLDEN AGE
Pairing: Bryce × f!MC( Tesse Sterling )
Author's note: Sooo! Hi... My name is Chahnaz and this my first fanfic... actually it's my first post ever so i don't know how it's going to come out . So for anyone out there who will actually read this thing .. THANK YOU!! I hope you like it .
Tumblr media
It's been 30 years. 30 years since Bryce and Tesse gave their vows to love and cherish each other for the rest of their lives .30 years since Tesse called Bryce her husband for the first time. 30 years since Bryce called Tesse his wife for the first time (and by the way he really loved it.. in fact he loved it so much that he called her only that for the first few months. It's like he forgot her name or something). 30 years in which they had two beautiful children. Alexander (Alex) and Alexis. And no they're not twins. Bryce thought that he was funny by giving the girl that name after Tesse got to name the first born and as much as she wanted to argue with him about giving the child that name for the wrong reasons, she didn't since she actually liked it and because she promised him she would let him name their second baby if they ever had one.
30 years in which they encountered both happiness and loss. Like happiness of celebrating weddings. of Danny to Sienna. Of Elijah to Phoebe. And of Jackie to Mike. Yes.. Jackie got married. Make no fault it wasn't easy for the poor lad to convince her.. in fact it took him months of proposing for her to say yes . Happiness of seeing Keiki go through college, getting her dream job and meeting the love of her life. But they also went through big losses. Like the loss of a patient or a loved one. It wasn't easy but they made it through. Together.
In these 30 years, Bryce and Tesse made it through major big stones in their careers. In fact Bryce now is the head of neurosurgery. And Tesse filled Ethan's place as the head of the diagnostics team after his retirement much to June's frustration. They were known as the power couple at the hospital. Granted, it took both of them a lot of hard work to get where they are but it was worth it.
IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE. ALL OF IT.
Tesse was sitting at the desk in the diagnostics office going through all the details that were presented to her for their lastest patient when her thoughts wondered to her spouse. She knows that she should focus. Christopher, the patient, still hasn't made it from Seattle. He was a wealthy 78 years old who seeked them as his last resort after his last 11 doctors came up empty handed for a reason to his symptoms. Yes, they started treating rich patients too since the whole ordeal 30 years ago because both rich and poor people have the right to the best treatment, adding to the fact that the hospital gains a good penny from the wealthy ones. But still as much as she tries to focus on the words in front of her, she can't. And she doesn't blame that on her aging brain, that as unfocused as it gets it's still as sharp as it was back in her twenties. But she blames it on her husband's behavior. Bryce has been acting quite weirdly as of late. She speculates that it's because of their marriage's 30th anniversary. But he has prepared surprises for her like that before but never acted like this. He spent a lot of time out which is surprising considering he never goes out without her.. or he prefers not to. Adding to the fact that he has been avoiding her and being really quit most of the time, which obviously isn't like Bryce since he's a talking machine that doesn't stop unless he's sleeping. So what could possibly caused this change in behavior. Well only one way to find out, she's going to talk to him later at home. She'll prepare a nice meal to celebrate their b-day while he's in the hospital since apparently he has a surgery that's bound to end a little bit late. And over dinner She'll attack, well not quite laterally cause she's not crazy but she will rain down on him with questions. Now that she forged a plan she feels a little less unfocused and goes back to work.
After a long day of work, Tesse is on her way out of the hospital when she decides to check out the surgery board to see exactly when Bryce's surgery end... or so she tells herself. And lo and behold, there's no surgery preformed at this hour by him. Well that ads to the list of suspicions. Why did he lie to her??. Tesse goes to check his office to see if he's still in. He's not. After that she goes to see if Danny by any chance saw him. He informs her that Bryce has left a couple of hours ago. So he's probably at home. On her way to her car, she gets her phone out to call him but he didn't answer " of course " said Tesse and not because he's used to not answering his phone in fact he's used to nag at her every time she didn't answer his calls . But because the man went to great lengths to hid whatever he's doing. Now remember how I said she wasn't going to attack him because she's not crazy... FORGOT THAT. She totally will.
After the whole drive thinking what he could possibly be doing she makes it home. And at her first step inside the door, she calls his name "BRYCE" you could totally hear the anger in her voice but she was met with silence, that is intel she hears one of the doors opening. Turning around she sees her son who was visiting after his law school finals to spend some time with his parents." Mom?" said Alex " .. you okay?" she could see the confusion writing on his face because of her near scream.
"Yeah, sweetheart. I'm fine." replied Tesse.
"Then why are screaming dad's name?"
"Well, I don't know where he is. He's not answering his phone and he lied to me about having a late surgery. And Now he's not even home. So.."
"Do you want me to try calling him?"
"Sure. Though, I doubt he's going to answer."
And sure enough, Bryce still didn't answer his phone.
"Okay... So, isn't today supposed to be your marriage anniversary?"
"Yeah" Tesse answered dejectedely. She really didn't expect to spend it this way.
"So why don't we go to a restaurant? Have a nice dinner? Just you and me? "
"I don't know..."
"Please, mom? I miss spending time with you."
Not wanting to lower her son's spirits, she agreed and went to change her clothes. She wore a beautiful little black dress that fit her form perfectly. Sure, she was sad and angry at Bryce for ditching her but she didn't have to look that way. Not when her son went out of his way to lift her spirits. She really did raise a gentleman.
By the time she was done, she found Alex waiting for her at the living room dressed in a dress shirt and pants. He took her hand than kissed her knuckles" Happy anniversary, Mom" than placed her palm at the crook of his own. And they made their way down to his car.
The direction Alex was driving in, was familiar to Tesse but not to any restaurant she knew. Only when he parked in the drive way to the huge mansion had she realized where he took her. It was her parents mansion. She haven't been in this place since her mother's funeral over 5 years ago. She has been thinking lately of renovating it but it was a project that would take a huge amount of time. Time she didn't have. But still that doesn't answer the question as to why would her son bring her here. The place is supposed to be deserted.
"Alex? Why are we here?" She asked.
But Alex didn't answer her question, instead he lead her to the front door, taking out a key when they made it there and opened the door. Where he got that key she will never know, but she didn't have time to wonder about that a lot cause as they made their way inside, the light suddenly turned on and in front of her she saw all of her friends, Alexis, her brother Connor and in the middle, sporting a huge grin in his face, stood the one and only Bryce Lahela.
" Happy anniversary, Tesse " said everyone.
Through her overwhelm and joy, she could see the place has been cleaned and tidied. It was like no time has passed. She looked into Bryce's eyes knowing that was probably all his doing. He smiled, making his way toward her. Taking her hands, he said:
" Happy anniversary, Love. I hope you're not too mad at me "
And in that moment she knew why she could never be mad at Bryce Lahela.
The end
Hi again! It's me.. And you probably knew that. Again, I want to say thank you to the people who took time out of their day to read this. I know there wasn't much to it but I didn't want to make it longer than it was. Plus, it took me more than 3 hours. So there... I hope you enjoyed it and thank you. Again.

Whumptober #5- Failed Escape
Warnings- “Parental” abuse, kidnapping, scar mention, may be triggering to those of you with deadnames. (Characters go by different names than the names they identify with, and Sterling insists on calling them by the different names because it doesnt get them hurt. If you’re familiar with @ashintheairlikesnow‘s Danny Michaelson series, it’s similiar to Danny/Red) I apologize for this being late, yesterday was awful for me.
Diego ducked into Vivian and Sterling’s room, almost shaking. If this worked… It would be the greatest night of their lives. If it didn’t… they were fucked.Vivian was sitting on her bed, and she looked up at Diego in surprise. “Are we heading out?” “No, not yet. I’m too anxious to stay still, so I decided to check on you two.” Sterling was sitting at his desk, doodling squiggles on a loose-leaf paper. “Thanks, Jas.”
“You don’t have to call me that anymore… We're going to get out of this fresh hell."
Sterling sighed. "You sound like Jasmine."
Diego’s response was clipped. “Her name is Cora. And I'll take that as a compliment… I wanna be like her.”
Vivian was uncharacteristically quiet. "Where is she, anyways?"
Diego fidgeted, trying to escape the pressing sense to do something. "She's packing up her clothes and some small food items."
Vivian nodded. "Alright. Should… should we finish packing?"
"If you want. I'm already done, so I can help if you like."
Sterling huffed. "Don't… don't you think this is a bad idea?"
Diego sighed. He didn't know how to answer. Did he think this was a bad idea? Yes, absolutely. But… it was the only chance they had. Father rarely left the house. "I… Maybe a little. But I'd rather try than wonder what could have happened if we hadn't."
“You'd rather risk pain and more scars to your back than just behaving and staying quiet?"
“Wouldn't you?! I don't want to live life like a caged bird! He's not our fucking dad!"
“I've been here the longest, I know how this is supposed to go! You're just not used to it!"
"I agree with Diego…"
Vivian's voice cut through the rising tension like a knife, Sterling and Diego falling silent.
"I'm… I'm tired, Augie. That's not your name, but isn't it fucked that that's what I have to call you and I get hurt if I don't? My back is a wasteland of scars, so is yours. I want to go home… I don't know where that is, but it's definitely not here. I'm just tired of it all… "
Sterling set down the pen, turning to Vivian. Diego was awful at identifying Sterling's emotions, but he'd say he looked distraught. "Liz…”
"Vivian."
Sterling sighed. “Fine. But I still think this an awful idea.”
Diego and Vivian grinned.
The rest of the hour went by without much conflict. Then the clock hit eight, and it was time to go.
Vivian and Sterling finished packing with Diego and Cora’s help. Diego and Cora had finished long before. They had backpacks, filled with clothes and whatever spare money they had gotten from friends or saved from outings. Cora also had a messenger bag filled with granola bars, small snacks, and a large blanket that bulged outward.
Diego took a deep breath, shaky. “Are… are we ready?”
There was a beat of silence, before Cora responded. “Yeah… let’s go.”
They shut their bedroom doors, Sterling looking longingly for a split second. They kept the lights on. The tension was palpable. This night could make or break their lives. They shuffled to the doorway, glancing at each other one last time. This house was their personal hell, and they were getting out of here. It seemed like a miracle.
Cora fidgeted. “It feels… too easy.” Diego sighed. “It’s… It’s the only chance we’ve got.” “I know…” They unlocked the door, the click of the lock sounding like an explosion in the silent house. They walked out, shutting the door behind them, the clang reminiscent of a gunshot.
The four made it two houses down before the tell-tale rumbling of a car coming up the street. Sterling heard it first, murmuring “No” over and over, rising in intensity. Cora heard it second, freezing in place. Diego and Vivian heard it at the same time, Vivian going paper-white. A familiar car pulled up to them, the grey exterior gleaming in the moonlight. The window rolled down, and there was Father. He raised an eyebrow. “What’re ya doing out here, kids?” Vivian smiled sunnily. “I was heading over to Bryce’s house!” “And the other three are..?” Sterling fidgeted a little. “I was.. Taking them to the library. To study.”He narrowed his eyes. “Since we’re so close, you can just walk home.” Sterling nodded. Diego felt shame fill his entire body. He had fucked up, getting the closest thing he had to a family in trouble. The kids walked home, exchanging nervous looks with each other. They arrived in the house, opening the door. They left it open, Father following behind them when he parked the car.
“So, children… The library and Bryce’s house?” They all nodded silently. “Give me the bags.” They hesitated before giving them over, not wanting further punishment. He opened each one, not looking surprised. “Get down in the basement.” Cora froze. “What?!” Father stared Cora in the eyes. “Get in the fucking basement. All four of you. You’re all disobedient brats who don’t know how good this fucking life is, and you’re trying to tear this family apart.” None of them moved. “I said, get in the fucking basement.” Vivian went first, Sterling and Cora following. Diego hesitated before following Cora, fidgeting with the cuff of his button-down. They were well and truly fucked, their life over before it ever began.

Seth gingerly pulled his black dress shirt over the welts on his back as Violet knelt in front of him petting his face and hair "Feel better, precious one?"
Seth nodded in reply still a little spaced out from the endorphins. Finn entered the room again face clean from the paint that had given his handsome features their demonic appearance.
"So her name is Rebecca?"' he finally spoke
" Yes, she's a little younger than you. I've known her since she was a little girl. We came to America together but she moved down south when she met her former girlfriend, it was right before I met you actually. You just missed each other." Finn explained, "She's going to run the main bar since Jordan decided to return to school full time."
"I think I saw her. Orange-red hair, dressed in yellow and black leather?" Seth says as Finn helped him to his feet
"That would be Rebecca. Miss Rebecca or Miss Becky to you." Violet told him. "That shirt is much too tight to button over your back."
Seth nodded at the unspoken command "I'll keep it open"
Tumblr media
Becky Lynch had not expected to like working at Finn's club after everything Charlotte had put her though because of her hatred of Becky's kinks, but her The Lair was like nothing she'd ever seen during her years as part of the scene. The members of the Lair acted more like a family than any other club she'd ever been a part of. It was surprising how all of them acted around one another despite many of the members' celebrity status, It had been a crazy moment, her when first night working the bar when Mike Mizanin and his wife Maryse just walked up and casually spoke to her, to her surprise the couple were very down to earth and just as funny as they were on their sitcom Miz and Mrs, though she'd wanted to slap Finn for not telling her he had the rich and famous frequenting his club. So far in her month behind the bar, she'd met several MMA fighters, a defensive lineman for the Giants, and she was currently talking to Ember Moon, a New York Times bestselling author. It was all so surreal. The only member of the club Finn ever mentioned was Seth Rollins. Becky had heard a lot about the millionaire CEO in her month at the club. Apparently, he was something of a legend around the Lair. He'd helped Finn get the club off the ground and Finn had introduced the man to the lifestyle. She knew he was at the club tonight but all she'd seen was long dark hair and a fancy suit as he headed into Finn's private domain.
The door to Finn's dungeon finally opened and Finn stepped followed by Violet who was holding on the arm of the man from before now looking much less agitated, fancy black shirt left unbuttoned to reveal a toned chest dotted with scrapes and bruises, and an impressive 6 pack.
Ember whistled from a bar stool off to the side of her "Seeing Sethie's chest is always a treat"
"What CEO looks like that?" Becky wondered aloud " and he's all banged up"
"One who served in the Army for the better part of a decade, including 3 tours of Afghanistan" Ember explained "Seth sometimes takes mercenary missions if they require his specific skill set. He's been gone on one for the last month"
"Wait, wasn't this guy born with the proverbial silver spoon in his mouth?" Becky looked at the other woman surprised
"Mama Trish….that's Seth's mom, by the way. Well, she may have raised a spoiled brat but he's also got a hero complex a mile wide after what went down with his Dad. Nasty business that was, Seth went into the military right after he graduated High School. Roman and Moxie, Miss Renee's boys? They followed him in. The four of them went to the same ritzy private schools, known each other since they were all little kids. One of my boyfriends was a few years above them. The silver spoon thing is funny though since Seth's middle name is Sterling"
"Hey! Are you mocking my name?" The man in question says in a raspy voice as he walks up to them.
"Your Mama named you Sterling, she cast that die for you already," Ember says hugging Seth after casting a glance at her Dom and getting a nod in answer.
"Sup, Emmy," Seth said taking a seat at the bar.
"Seth, Miss Rebecca. Becky, the Lair's chief pain in the ass." Finn introduced the pair to each other.
Seth rolled his eyes at Finn before smiling at Becky "Pleased to finally meet you Miss Rebecca" he said politely "Seth Rollins" he introduced himself properly
Becky's brain actually stuttered for a second. This man was too damn gorgeous for her own well being, after a moment she internally shook her thoughts back into place and reminded herself she was NOT looking for a new Sub, especially not a buff, tanned millionaire one.
"Be a good Kitten." Violet leaned in and kissed Seth softly "If you can find someone to play with tonight has fun! If not you are welcome to come home with us as always, my darling"
"Yes, Miss Violet. I'm taking the day off tomorrow. Moxie and Ro changed the security codes on the facility and all my work-related computer systems for 24 hours. They locked me out"
"I told them to, Mo Chroi" Finn tells him. "You need a day for yourself. Go to the gym, tend to your plants but you are not allowed near your headquarters until Wednesday understand?"
Seth bowed gracefully "Yes, My Liege"
Finn and Violet swept off to their personal VIP Booth, while Seth settled into his normal spot at the bar to chat with Ember as Becky looked on, laughing at something the tiny African American woman was telling him.
"What do you think my Queen?" Finn asks his wife
"I think they might be exactly what the other needs. Becky already thinks he's cute, I can tell" Violet replied
Tumblr media
Are you okay?" Ember asked Seth seriously after joking around for a few more minutes. "You hardly take on solo missions anymore."
"Favor to one of Mom's country club buddies. Her friend's daughter got snatched while the girl was on a trip with her Dad. Tracked her over there, got her back relatively unharmed" Seth explained succinctly. One of Ember's Doms worked for Seth and had known him for most of his life, Sso she knew more about what he actually did for a living then most of his friends at the club.
"I'm glad. Now imma ask again cause you just tried to derail me. Are YOU okay?" Ember said grabbing the bigger man's shoulders gently and making him look her in the eye.
Becky watched as Seth ducked his head and then rolled his eyes at his friend "I'm better. Majesties worked me over a bit."
"Emmy." A deep midwestern accented voice said as Randy Orton walked back up to the bar. "Time to go. Baron's flight gets here in 2 hours"
"Yes Sir" Ember said lightly, accepting her boyfriend's hand and getting down off the barstool.
"Won't be in till Wednesday Viper, Royal decree." Seth told the older man
"Good. Tired of having to call the Doc in because your stubborn ass don't know when to go the fuck home. See you then, Boss" Randy replied before he and Ember headed out of the Lair, leaving Becky and Seth staring at each other
"Would you like a drink?" Becky asks him "Finn tells me this fancy-ass coffee set up is your doing?"
"I don't really drink, spent too many years trying to find death at the bottom of a whiskey bottle." Seth tells her bluntly "So yeah the fancy-ass coffee set up is for me."
"I'm assuming Finn told you to behave with me? He warned me about you while you were gone" Becky said easily despite being internally taken aback by the lighting fast change in attitude
She watched as Seth visibly took a deep breath "I apologize, Miss Rebecca, Miss Becky?" He said questioningly continuing when the redhead nodded "I apologize for my behavior Miss Becky, I wasn't prepared for Ember to ask about my last job and it was a…..rough one."
"Your forgiven, míshásamh," She said with a small smile that got bigger when Seth tilted his head to the side like a curious puppy "Six years being Finn's friend and sometimes boyfriend has taught me quite a bit of Irish but I don't know that word"
"Maybe, if you're a good boy, I'll tell you," Becky said with a smirk "Now if you want something fancier then a regular coffee, you're gonna have to come back here and make it yourself"
Seth grinned and nimbly leaped over the bar landing to the left of her, letting out a low cackle when she didn't budge "I can do that"

DuckTales 2017 - “The Last Crash of the Sunchaser!”
Tumblr media
Story by: Francisco Angones, Madison Bateman, Colleen Evanson, Christian Magalhaes, Bob Snow
Written by: Francisco Angones
Directed by: John Aoshima
Storyboard by: Jean-Sebastien Duclos, Jason Reicher, Sam King
The calm before the shadowy storm...or is it?
Tumblr media
Previously on DuckTales 2017, Dewey found a note on the back of a portrait that happened to have the same handwriting as Della Duck’s! While following the clues on it only led to a prank involving a hat that was meant for Donald Duck, Huey takes the note and uses a pencil to mark it. Apparently, that’s a Junior Woodchuck tradition, and not just another Adam West Batman style riddle solving!
Tumblr media
It revealed these dates, and something that looks like the tip end of a spear. It even happens to be labeled the Spear of Selene! Clearly, unlike the ending of Other Bin, they didn't want to wait a few episodes before coming back to that! Surely enough, it will be brought up again in this delightful comedy romp known as “The Last Crash of the Sunchaser!”
...yeah, something tells me this won't be pretty.
Tumblr media
The episode begins with a trip to the country of Monacrow, and everyone has their own reasons for enjoying the vacation. The boys, Webby, and Launchpad are interested in a convention called E.X.C.E.S.S., which has many star attractions, like...
Webby: Experimental racecars?
Huey: Lasers?
Launchpad: Aeroplanes?
Subtle! Mrs. Beakley also shows up to use up one of her stacked up vacation days on one of Monacrow's beaches. Who would have guessed they would use vacation days to not write off a character, but actually get one involved in a plot?
Scrooge, in particular, is more interested in the Maltese MacGuffin, which happens to be something of massive worth. It's both a reference to the trope, and a reference to one of the most famous uses of it. He also talks about how having the nephews around has made him more energetic than he ever was in a long time! Hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmmmm.
Tumblr media
They all aboard the plane, and right from the get-go, there's problems. After Mrs. Beakley is utterly shocked about the massive amounts of safety violations on a plane usually boarded by young children, including having a pilot known for crashing planes, Scrooge tells her there's nothing to worry about. He tells Launchpad to give Mrs. Beakley a tour of the ship. While he's away, he's going to take the wheel.
Mrs. Beakley tells him he doesn't know how to fly a plane, but Scrooge McDuck says that he he's Scrooge McDuck, and that seems like a good excuse for anything. Throughout most of this episode, his ego is through the roof, but why not? Right from the beginning, he seems like this invincible hero who can do anything.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, in a large wooden box, the boys and Webby piece together a bunch of pieces of a photograph that Louie snuck into the car, along with a few other things. Apparently, this all came from that wacky librarian from The Great Dime Chase.
While Dewey learned his lesson from the last episode, the theme of secrets still holds true for Scrooge. They feel that if Scrooge finds out about this, he'll shut down the entire operation. Much like Dewey, a lot of this is based on assumptions; if he wanted to shred these papers, clearly this has to be something Scrooge doesn't want people to know.
Tumblr media
They manage to piece together almost all of the photograph, except for this one large piece that happens to be right in the middle. Half the episode becomes Dewey trying to get this one piece of photograph. Unfortunately, as soon as Dewey across towards this piece, the plane starts shifting forwards and backwards.
They go out of the box, doing some inconspicuous whistling when Mrs. Beakley asks them what they are up to. Well, the boys do, Webby just sings "inconspicuous whistling". They soon see what exactly happened, as we see Scrooge getting angry at the plane. He can't blame himself, he's Scrooge McDuck.
Tumblr media
While Scrooge McDuck has many talents, flying a plane isn't one of them. It’s not a Launchpad crash, either, but a crash that ends up putting the plane on top of a "10,000 meter speedbump". Needless to say, this episode isn't going to end with racecars, lasers, or aeroplanes that aren't the titular Sunchaser.
Scrooge tries to get the plane out of this situation, because he's Scrooge McDuck, he can solve anything! That seemed to work for most episodes, but it does not work here, as anything he tried to do only made things worse.
Tumblr media
Of course, the Sunchaser being on top of a small spire-shaped peak means that balance is absolutely everything. Unlike most episodes, there's no real villain in this episode outside of gravity. It's a high concept episode, there's no B plot happening anywhere else. Maybe.
Tumblr media
For example, Launchpad accidently drives a car into the large door of the Sunchaser, causing the plane to lean backwards. Eventually, the door opens, and Launchpad is hanging on. We get to see some cool moments with Scrooge, having him jump up on a box that's sliding down and being able to rescue him from falling off. It's like an action movie.
Tumblr media
Not that Scrooge gets all the fun, Mrs. Beakley gets a lot of great moments, too. Throughout the episode, she's trying her best to keep the kids safe, and arguing with with Scrooge about how he's endangering everyone. She really wants Scrooge to admit that he can't fix this problem, but Scrooge is having none of that. Under Scrooge, nothing bad is going to happen to the children! Or, as he accidently says...
Scrooge: Nothing bad is going to happen to her!
Mrs. Beakley: ...hmm?
Scrooge Er, kids.
This is our first big hint that Scrooge is not just acting the way he is in this episode because of his sense of self-worth or for the safety of his kin. This becomes far more apparent near the end of the episode. It's clear that this isn't just about Scrooge's war against Isaac Newton.
Tumblr media
The kids eventually have to stick to one place, as much as Dewey really needs that one piece of the photograph.
Launchpad tries to give some in-flight entertainment with a nice nod to Darkwing Duck. Hopefully we’ll get to see him, or his actor, next season. Sadly, the tape only repeats the same section of credits over and over again due to damage to the VCR caused by the crash. They eventually start to sing the portion of the theme song. The lone exception being Dewey, who just can't take it anymore.
Huey gets an idea: go to the opposite way Dewey is going, keeping balance, allowing Dewey to get the piece of the photo. Eventually, Scrooge spots Dewey with the piece of the photograph, and asks what he has. Dewey, left with no choice, decides to give Scrooge that piece, only for it to blow away to the same spot where Launchpad crashed the car from earlier.
Tumblr media
Dewey chases after the photograph, while Scrooge chases Dewey. It's the slowest chase scene ever, due to Mrs. Beakley ordering them to be careful to not to make the title fit. That joke would have been a lot better on shows that I actually judge the titles on, I realize. Scrooge is only trying to grab Dewey to save his life.
Scrooge: I'm only trying to save your life, so come back here before I have to end it!
Obviously, Scrooge doesn't mean this, but he's getting a bit unhinged.
Tumblr media
Eventually, the box where the secret hideout was hits the door and breaks open, revealing the hideout and all the pieces of information that were nailed to its interior. Mrs. Beakley notices the paper in Webby's skirt, which happens to be the Spear of Selene picture from earlier. Her reaction to this seems to be telling.
Mrs. Beakley: Oh, children, what have you been up to?
She doesn't do anything else to the nephews and her granddaughter about this, mostly because what will happen a few seconds later will heavily, but this line read is a clear sign that whatever secrets that Spear of Selene holds is not going to be pretty.
Tumblr media
While the paper with the Spear on it is taken, the little piece of the photo gets blown out of the window by a gust of wind. Of course, that doesn’t stop Dewey from leaping out onto the Sunchaser, chasing after it. Scrooge utters to himself, "no, not again". Anyone who's watching this show will know this is referring to his side of the Della mystery.
Dewey's reckless endangerment even scares the other nephews and honorary niece, and they ask Dewey to forget about this and love the family he has. Dewey is having none of that, and neither does the viewer; we're not going to have another cop-out. Scrooge eventually has to ask what he can do to get Dewey to listen to him. Dewey, in no uncertain terms, decides to ask him for the truth.
Tumblr media
Dewey: (holding up photograph) Tell me about the Spear of Selene!
We saw this scene in the trailers, and that’s definitely something people would want to see Scrooge answer. Scrooge eventually nods his head, grabs Deweys hand, and gathers everyone together for the big story.
No, there's no cop-out here. The longer answer, as I said before, is that it is not pretty. The even longer answer should be figured out by watching the episode. I would stop here, but this is the kind of ending I need to talk about. This episode was already good enough that a cop-out wouldn't have made this a below-average episode.
However, I'm sorry to inform that this is not the twist you will be watching. The twist you are about to see is extremely unpleasant. If you wish to see a film about three bug-eyed freaks that beat the stuffing out of monkeys, I'm sure there's still copies on eBay.

Alright, fine, in the immortal words of a Dark Souls soapstone message, "time for tears".
Tumblr media
I honestly thought they were going to stretch the Della plot into the Season 2, but lo and behold, Scrooge manages to keep his word. He’s not a hypocrite, just like how he promised Webby that all she had to do to know about the number one dime was to ask, all Dewey had to do was ask. No need to keep secrets, we learned that in the last episode.
Even in this episode, it’s hinted that the Della situation is not going to be a bright and cheery one, and oh boy, oh boy. It all started before the nephews were even hatched.
Tumblr media
She went on many different adventures across the entire world, until there just wasn't anything left. Eventually, she decided that. Donald was completely against this, because it's too dangerous. Scrooge decided the best plan was to buy the Spear of Selene, and keep it a surprise from both Donald and Della.
Tumblr media
...that is, a big rocketship in the shape of one. Unfortunately, Della finds out about this surprise because she's that clever. Della takes the Spear, leaving a note.
Scrooge tries to get Della to abort the mission and come back home, but Della wasn't having any of it. After all, she was Della Duck! Needless to say, there's a lot of parallels between this and everything else in the episode. However, there is one big difference...
Tumblr media
Scrooge: I couldn't keep her safe. The rocket and your mother were lost...in the empty abyss of space.
Major props to David Tennant’s performance here. I had no doubt that he would do well as Scrooge. Donald wasn't too happy when he heard about this, and they never spoke again until the fateful day the nephews met Scrooge. This is completely understandable, and I bet it's even more understandable that telling your nephews that your Uncle indirectly caused your mother's disappearance may not make them like you.
Tumblr media
Dewey: Cool...so you're the reason why our Mom is gone.
My earlier assertion that there are no true villains in this episode except for gravity becomes not an opinion shared with any of the characters aside from Scrooge and maybe Launchpad after this story. Symbolically, the plane starts to teeter and totter as the boys accuse him of being a greedy person who didn't even try to save their mother.
Webby shares her two cents as well, and Scrooge immediately tells her to stay out of family matters, as she isn't family. It felt like she became this honorary niece a few episodes ago, so this is a stab in the heart. This earns the anger of Mrs. Beakley. The anger continues until the Sunchaser falls off the spire into a regular Launchpad-style crash. Did anyone forget about that?
Tumblr media
On the bright side, Uncle Donald finally fixed that houseboat, and everyone else managed to survive and walked all the way back to Duckburg! Donald Duck shows off the freshly painted houseboat, which is fully repaired, and ready to go back to the Marina. The boys tell their not-a-rich-mother-killer uncle about what happened, and all Donald can say is, "oh."
While they are bummed out, the nephews are glad that they don’t have to live with that money-grubbing tyrant that caused their mother to get lost in space due to his greediness. Actually, that’s not bright at all. There's nothing but tears at this point.
Tumblr media
As Scrooge is sitting in his chair, everyone leaves the Manor, even Duckworth. I wouldn't know if it's even possible for a ghost to leave the mansion he's haunting, and that never comes up again in the next episode as far as I can tell. We see another flashback, and it's even more heartbreaking than the first.
Tumblr media
Unbeknownst to everyone else, he did try to use his riches to find Della. The Vulture Capitalists have to forcibly restrain him from wasting so much money to reverse his biggest mistake. Well, it’s also her biggest mistake, but nobody seems to blame Della for abandoning her kids before they even hatched. There's some moral ambiguity here, and whether they'll address that is up in the air.
We even see the money bin get smaller and smaller. I actually didn’t even notice that, even in this cartoon’s modern day, he never managed to get it back to the heights it was generally shown to be in previous iterations of the Scrooge McDuck mythos.
Tumblr media
Actually, speaking of “the beginning”, this shot at the very end may take that way further than I thought at first.
Tumblr media
This is a recreation of Scrooge’s very first appearance in the original comics, back when he wasn’t too far off from his namesake. It's a neat touch; it also references him before he met Donald, and this would be a horrifying bookend. Thankfully, there's another episode.
I was thinking that this episode was going to be the calm before the shadowy storm, but it turns out that the episode before was the calm before the storm. But after a storm, there tends to be a rainbow, and anyone can expect that the next episode would be that rainbow. But...how? I just couldn't wait to find out, and that's something an episode should be proud of.
How does it stack up?
I never thought I would spend any percentage of my day crying over Disney ducks, but here we are. It’s an action-packed thrill ride and a heartbreaker in all of the best ways.
This is the best episode of the series so far, and definitely something I want to see the conclusion to. We might not see if Della is truly gone or not, but maybe the “get the kids back together” plot. Oh, and that Lena plot, too. I guess that’s important. As much as this image is very unfitting for this episode...
Tumblr media
Next, prepare to be drafted for the finale of DuckTales Season 1.

The 19th century
Pairing: Bryce × f!MC ( Tesse Sterling )
Author's note: So I've been thinking... What if Tesse and Bryce met in the 19th century. THAT would be interesting. And I know Tesse isn't an old name but I didn't want to change it. Soo... And I guess neither is Bryce but I wasn't going to change HIS name 'cause you know, no one would recognise him if I did. So as usual I hope you like it.
Tumblr media
She could see the carriage pulling up on her family's mansion's doorstep from her balcony and immediately ran down the steps. She knew it was him. She could feel it in her heart. And also because he sent a letter saying that he would be coming around this time of day. But still, she missed him terribly. Not that she would tell him that. His ego is large enough to fill her whole house and suffocate everyone in it. But he's been gone for over three months on some kind of trip. Probably one her father, Alexander, sent him on.
You see, sir Alexander Sterling, is a doctor. And sir Bryce Lahela is one of his students, along with Tesse. And since they're the same age, they've been in the same classes since childhood. Bryce has been around since Tesse could remember. But that's no surprise since her father and his has also been childhood friends. And when Bryce decided that he wants to pursue medicine as a career instead of taking over his family's business. There was no better choice than to attend Dr. Sterling's university than choose one outside of town. As much as he wanted to stay away from his family. But Tesse hopes that's not the only reason. And that he stayed, in part, because of her.
You're probably wondering why her father sent Bryce instead of his own daughter. You see, Sir Alexander is an open minded man. After all, he let her pursue her dream of becoming a doctor. But he's not as open minded as to let her go on a trip for three months on her own. Which infuriated Tesse, since she's quite curtain that if she was a man, he would've let her. She hated how her gender limited her, even in her father's eyes. It was quite unfair. But what could she do about it? If it wasn't for her dad she wouldn't have been able to do what she wanted since he stood in front of the whole family when they said that she should stay home and do what anyone her age did. And that's Pretty much, eat, sleep, get married, and have children. But she refused to have that kind of life. Where the whole purpose of her being is to give heirs to some duke to show them off. She refused. She will get married and have children when she darn well pleased. And that's probably after she completed her studies.
She was running down the stairs when her maid, Charlotte, yelled.
"My lady, please slow down. You could harm yourself."
But, it was no use since she was intent on opening the door and greeting him herself. Which, she didn't know why since they have servants to do that. Perhaps, it was the fact that she wanted to be the first person he sees when he comes in.
After she made it down the stairs, she ran to the door and threw it open. Only to be greeted by his amused face. Alright, maybe she could've been more graceful about doing that.
He stepped inside and bowed, taking her hand in his own to kiss it. Saying:
"Greetings, lady Sterling"
"I told you to stop calling me that." she replied.
She could hear Charlotte clearing her throat behind her.
"Oh, fine. Greetings, BRYCE."
"That's better." He said.
After that, he threw his arms around her and hugged her tightly to his chest. She never understood why he always bothers with the formal greetings when he could just do this. Forever. But it's probably because he likes getting on her nerves sometimes. Oh, who is she laying to? He likes getting on her nerves all the time. She assumes it's one of his hobbies. After letting her go, he asked.
"How are you doing? Been missing way too much?"
"What's there to miss? Your obnixiousness? Because if so, than no I did not miss you."
"Really? Because I didn't miss your sarcasm either. But I missed the rest of you."
God, he always played this card whenever he wanted her to admit something she didn't want to admit. Or did she?
"Oh, she missed you alright."
Turning around, she could see her father descending down the stairs, smiling.
"She's been asking about when you return since the day you left."
"Father.."
Smirking, Bryce turned to her.
"I thought you said you didn't miss me."
"I didn't say that. I just said that I didn't miss your obnixiousness."
When Alexander made it to them, he turned to Bryce, beaming.
"Welcome home, son. We missed you." He said pointedly.
"Thanks, sir. It's good to be back."
"How was the trip?"
"It was quite informing."
"Come, tell us about it over tea."
They made their way toward the living room with Bryce telling them about all the exciting experiences he had.
After her father excused himself after being called in to his clinic, Tesse and Bryce made their way around the garden. They were walking in a comfortable silence with a few glances at each other every now and then.
"So, what did you do while I was gone?" Bryce said, breaking the silence.
"What'd you expect. Studying and helping father whenever I can at the clinic." She replied.
"I wish that you'd went with me." He said after a few beats.
"Really?" She asked.
"Yes. I found myself quite often wondering what you were doing and wishing that you were with me. Thinking experiencing everything together."
"Wow." Tesse said, stunned.
"Yes, and it wasn't just while I was away. It was way before that."
"Bryce.." She whispered when he cupped her cheek. Leaning into it.
"Tesse.. look at me."
She looked up to this intense fire burning behind his eyes.
"Tesse... I never want to be away from you. Ever. I want to be near you every hour of every day."
"That's a little bit much, don't you think?"
Bryce chuckled.
"Maybe. But you get what I mean."
"Yes.. I do."
Bryce leaned little by little towards her. His gaze staring at her eyes than dropping to her lips. Than it happened, Bryce leaned the last inch separating their faces and put his lips into hers.
The kiss was slow, soft. Bryce caressed her cheek than used his other hand to push her against him. He wasn't hurried. Instead, he took his time to take her breath away. After a while Tesse leaned Back, looking at him and bitting her lower lip. A few seconds later, she said.
"It was my first."
"What?"
"It was my first kiss."
She could see the panick settling into his face so she hurried to chase it away.
"Don't worry. It was wonderful."
He face eased up and the smile returned.
"But why?"
"Don't really want to kiss anyone when you've been pinning after a lad for the last two decades."
She could see the surprise and than a smirk replaced it.
"Well, I guess I need to make it up to you somehow."
And then he pushed her back against him to kiss her again. Passionately this time.
The end
