well a few weeks back i reblogged a prompt post from @novelbear & offered to write a keero drabble for anyone who wanted it! @lighttailoring requested one w the prompt "one leaning their head onto the other's shoulder suddenly and they just freeze" and i tried my best. the context is that dedra finds out about the existence of the death star and shows up late to dinner at syril's apartment; i've only seen andor the one time a few months back so i hope this isn't totally ooc and that my writing is half coherent. thanks again @lighttailoring for the request!
The soft tapping on the datapad slowed to a halt as Syril reviewed the order he had placed. If he had his way, he would prepare Dedra a proper meal, to serve as a respite from her responsibilities. Not that she would make enough time to appreciate it, he thought bitterly. The food would go to waste. He sighed, leaning back in his chair.
Like Dedra always says, the Empire comes first. I can’t fault her for that.
His gaze wandered over to the window, the Coruscant night twinkling outside. Dedra had messaged him as soon as he arrived home, Start without me. Meeting running long.
He had no idea how much time that bought him but decided to pull up a report he was working on. Joining the ISB resulted in difficult, sometimes grueling, work but he embraced it. Syril welcomed the distraction from his thoughts, which had run rampant at the Bureau of Standards. Too much time to wallow and self-reflect. He wanted to contribute to something worthwhile and Dedra, of all people, enabled him to.
After the Ferrix riot, she couldn't deny his tenacity and recommended him for a position. Of course, he was thankful and of course he was as vigilant as ever in his work, but he was still no closer to Andor. Or Axis for that matter. His reports filled page after page with petty offenses and minute matters. Matters so small as to be completely inconsequential. Sharing meals like this with Dedra broke up the monotony of his days, as lucky as he knew he was to have them.
As Syril continued tapping on his datapad, he heard a chime at the door, and stopped. Dedra.
He placed his datapad down and strode to the door, opening it at once.
Syril hardly had time to recognize the figure in front of him as Dedra as she swept past him in one swift movement. He closed the door behind him and tailed after her.
She was a few feet away, removing her belt and opening his closet door, searching for a hanger. "How was your meeting?"Syril asked, coming to a stop behind her. Finding a hanger, she threw the belt on it, then moved to remove her coat.
Met with silence, he attempted a different angle. "I wasn't sure what you wanted so I got you noodles again. Unfortunately it hasn't arrived yet. Can I get you something to drink?" He watched as Dedra added her coat to the hanger and jammed it onto the rack.
As she peeled her outer tunic off, still without comment, Syril decided she was better left alone. "Let me know if you need anything," he muttered, before retreating back to his sitting room.
He picked up his datapad and stared at his report, trying not to think about what happened to Dedra. Was she fired? No, that couldn't be, she still had her uniform on when she came in. Her rank remained the same, so she couldn't have been demoted either. Perhaps Partagaz had been in a mood that day and decided to reprimand her for something minor. His mind wandered from what had happened to how he could get Dedra to tell him about it. She was in no mood to talk. He wondered why she even bothered to show up tonight.
Soon enough, Syril heard his closet door close and the sounds of boots thumping across the floor. He saw Dedra round the corner, a scowl still on her face, her hands behind her back. She walked right past him to the window and stared out at the lights. Syril stared at her back for several moments, at a loss for what to say. Telling her to leave might be too direct, but offering her his room for the night might be too suggestive. Neither were preferable.
Finally, he decided to leave her be, turning back to his datapad and continuing on with his report. As he found his rhythm once more, he heard Dedra walking back from the window. Giving her space, he decided not to look up and instead he felt her sit next to him on the couch. After a slight pause, he felt her lean her head on his shoulder. Syril froze, his focus immediately drawn to the warm pressure of Dedra's weight on him. Tonight couldn't get any stranger, he thought as he stared down at his datapad, not daring to move his head.
Dedra, noticing that he had stopped, finally spoke. "I apologize for coming late, but it was unavoidable. Partagaz informed us the Empire is developing something. Something that will give us leverage over the rebels, not in the short-term, but for the foreseeable future. This could be our chance to maintain order across the galaxy once and for all."
As Syril absorbed the magnitude of her words, he placed his datapad on a side table. He took a hand in hers, emboldened by her actions and her words. At the moment, he didn't care that Dedra was keeping a secret from him. He cared about how this secret affected her.
"You don't sound particularly thrilled about this revelation," Syril noted.
"Thrilled definitely isn't the right word," Dedra replied. "Apprehensive, I suppose. The Empire has mishandled several opportunities since I started work with the ISB. I want to know more about what they're planning to do with what they've developed. We cannot plan a show of force unless every one of us is prepared for the consequences."
Thinking of the amount of stress she was under caused Syril to regret his earlier anger towards her. He tightened his grip on her hand and moved away from her, so he could see her face. In the dim light, he could see her bun had loosened and lines under her eyes had started to form. She tried her best to maintain appearances but her efforts had dwindled in the late hours of the night.
Taking in her gaunt appearance, Syril tentatively asked, "Why did you decide to come here instead of going straight home? You look exhausted. I would've understood. Duty always comes first."
Dedra took a moment to respond, her eyes flickering down to look at their interlinked hands. Slowly, she began, "Ever since Ferrix, a part of me has questioned my competency as an officer. I've been pushing myself to make up for my shortcomings ever since. I've stayed up all night reviewing reports, I've taken remedial physical defense classes. I've even had Heert and Partagaz give me separate performance reviews so I could improve."
She met Syril's gaze again as she said, "And yet what makes me feel the most competent is when I come to see you."
Syril gulped, his heart rate increasing, as he considered that last statement. As far as he could tell, Dedra could barely tolerate him some nights. To hear that he had been an anchor for her all these months...
"How is that possible," Syril asked, bewildered. "What could I do for you that would be an improvement over what the ISB could do?"
"When I'm at work," she replied, "there are several other officers with the same rank as me, the same assignments as me. I feel like I'm part of a cog in this wheel that will keep turning regardless if I'm there to help it along. But when I'm with you, I know my input matters. The way you look at me, the way you respond to me, it makes me feel powerful. I don't need to prove myself because you already know what I'm capable of."
Syril started to smile, a glimmer in his eye, "I've been trying to get you to see that, Dedra. Almost as long as I've known you. It's like I told that day in front of headquarters. To me, you represent the truth and beauty of the Empire. You don't need me to succeed, but I'm glad I could be a source of strength. It's the least I could do after all you've done for me."
"That's exactly what I mean Syril. Hearing you say those things about me, even if I don't say it, it does make me feel wanted. And I realized that I don't necessarily mind feeling wanted by you. In fact, I find I enjoy it."
Her eyes darted down to his lips as she considered a point of no return. Syril was one step ahead of her, cocking his head to the side, shakily placing a hand on her cheek.
Then, the chime from the door sounded, freezing both of them to the spot.
As Syril sat there, dumbfounded, Dedra reached over to him, taking his hand in hers. Kissing him on the cheek, she asked, "Aren't you going to get that Syril?"
He blinked a few times and, hearing the chime again, stood up. "Yes, sorry, I'll be right back," he muttered, walking to the door with a hand to his cheek.
Dedra leaned back into the couch and prepared to send a comms out to Heert. It contained a simple message, "Karn may be a more valuable asset than anticipated. We need to explore his potential further."

Supernatural Fic Masterlist
Tumblr media
I have sorted this masterlist by main character/reader pairings, with a small section at the very bottom for stories that do not involve a reader insert. Any series/one shot sections are further segmented, and stories under “Poly/Other” will have the pairings noted in with the rest of the story info. Everything is alphabetical (although series with more than one part are listed chronologically). A slash [/] means romance while an ampersand [&] means friendship.
I used a cut so as not to clog anyone’s page should it pop up in the tags. I write 99% reader inserts and primarily have a lot of Castiel and Gabriel, with the odd Sam, Dean, Chuck, and a handful of friendship fics. I hope you find something you enjoy <3

Hi dear!
I’ve got several numbers for that writing ask game… are you ready?
1. (I’m particularly asking about the “how’s the progress” part)
4.
6.
9.
14.
22.
I hope you’re having a great day (or as great as it can be, anyway❤️)
Holy moly, thanks darling!! I am having a Pretty Good Day™ honetly!! Hope your is/was amazing!!
1. Tell us about your current project(s) – what’s it about, how’s progress, what do you love most about it?
So the biggest thing I've got is my Larry RB right now. Progress has been... up and down honestly! My wonderful artist gave a very detailed prompt and that's been lovely because it means I've really got the whole thing scripted out (which is not my usual way of writing so it's been fun!). Covid kinda derailed me - the brain fog is REAL. But I think that's lifting so, like, Sunday? I wrote like 5400 words. And it's coming together!
4. Share a sentence or paragraph from your writing that you’re really proud of (explain why, if you like)
“I’ve never been so scared, or so sure that I was exactly where I was supposed to be, doing exactly what I was supposed to be doing."
This is a moment from Louis' toast for his sister's wedding (this is VERY MUCH an AU) - I wanted to capture that kind of awe-inspiring moment as a parent where it's terrifying, but also, you're right where you need to be. I'm not sure this one sentence does it, but hopefully the whole speech does. :-D
6. What character do you have the most fun writing?
Ohhh. When I'm in the groove, I really enjoy all of them, honestly. I really have a lot of fun writing drunk Harry Potter though. For example:
“Where we going now?” Harry inquires amiably as Malfoy leads him down the sidewalk, behind a group of girls in short skirts. “Gonna dance some more?”
“I’m getting you home,” Malfoy says, and Harry smiles at him.
It occurs to Harry that Malfoy is really very pretty.
“You want me to blow you?” he asks cheerfully and Harry hears Malfoy choke and sees a couple of heads in the group in front of them turn quickly. “‘Member? I’m pretty good at it.’”
“Potter,” Malfoy hisses. “If you don’t want to be outed on the front page of Sunday’s Prophet, I suggest you shut your mouth, now.”
Harry snickers. “That’d be funny though, right? The boy who lived… to give great head. That’s a legacy I can be proud of.” He stumbles a bit over the words but thinks he manages to convey his point.
Malfoy somehow snickers and sounds annoyed at the same time, it’s impressive. “Seriously, Potter. Shut up.”
“You could shut me up,” Harry says happily, and Malfoy groans.
(From Green-Eyed Epiphany)
9. Are you more of a drabble or a longfic kind of writer? Pantser or plotter? Do you wish you were the other?
I am both (BISEXUAL PRIVILEGE). No for real. I mean, my version of a drabble is the 1500-5000 thing - those are usually vignettes or single-scene things that just flow for me. I have done some longer things too. I mean, what counts a long fic? I've got 5 50K+ fic. I don't think I could ever write a SUPER longfic (like, let's say, 70K+) - I don't have that in me. I've been having a BLAST with shorter things. My problem is that my more complex ideas need to be longer but sometimes braining is hard.
14. At what point in writing do you come up with a title?
OH MY GOD. Titles are the WORST. It's never the first thing I come up with. I usually try to have a title by the time the first draft is done? I am 100% a song-lyric title kinda pal and I'm not sorry about that. But yeah. titles are so hard. I have to say, my Larry BB this year, Unveiled, that title is one I'm super proud of. It's not a fic that got much traction but I'm really proud of it in general.
22. Do you reread your old works? How do you feel about them?
You know what? Some of them, I totally do. There are some fic I am so, so proud of - generally longer ones, because those are the ones that are really such a part of me, and I do re-read them, because I tend to write stories I'd like to read. It's so good to get some distance so I can even enjoy them.
(We'll Call This Fixer-Upper) Home (Drarry)
Feels Like Coming Home
These are two I really, really love. There's a LOT of me, my life, my experiences, my philosophy - in these and they mean a lot to me, and if anyone wanted to read them, I'd be so so honored.

The knight and the princess - Fíli x reader - Modern AU
Link to my Masterlist.
Tumblr media
This was a prompt I originally received from @saviorsong yesterday: next-door neighbor trope with the line ‘That won’t work, Try again’. As I wrote down most of this in bed last night, this piece expanded from a short drabble into a short fic of more or less 1500 words. I don’t know what happened and I don’t regret it. As I try to be less brutal about the level of perfection my work has to achieve to be worthy, I try to NOT edit my oneshots endlessly. So bear with me on that, and I hope y’all enjoy.
The knight and the princess - Fíli x Reader
Summary: Friday night. The reader tries to set up her new surround sound system, but it turns out to be harder than expected. Luckily friday night also means her favorite next-door neighbor comes over. MODERN AU.
Warnings: Fluff, bit of cursing.
Taglist: @soradragon @pistachiozombie @legolaslovely @tomisbaeholland @swoopswishsward @fizzyxcustard @deepestfirefun @ruthoakenshield @mariannetora @thequeenoferebor  If you don’t wish to be tagged anymore, please let me know! Or if you’re not on the list and want to be tagged: check out my lists and I’d like to hear which list you want in on!

It shouldn’t be this hard. Literally anyone could do it. At least, that was what the people at the store had told you. And the delivery girl. Even the helpdesk guy had told you the same, though he even had the nerves to inquire ‘if you had read the instruction manual’.
Of course you did! You weren’t stupid, you were an grown-ass woman -damn it- and you could take care of yourself.
‘It’s not hard, ma’am.’ The guy repeated for the zillionth time. ‘Just put the red cable-’ ‘And I told you there is NO RED CABLE!’ you hissed back, exasperated by the fact that this person refused to listen. ‘There has to be.’ He mumbled. ‘Because otherwise you won’t be able to connect the tv with the left box.’ ’Okay, you know what…’ you grumbled. ‘I think this doesn’t get me any further than it already did.’ ‘But have you checked the package the system came in?’ You let out a strangled groan. ‘Of course I checked it!’ ‘You sure?’ the guy pressed. ‘Because more than often, our clients-’
You ended the call, just before you would have battered those poor worker’s ears with the most vile curses in the English vocabulary. It wasn’t his fault, you knew that. He probably had to stick to a protocol anyway and you were too impatient to follow such bureaucratic nonsense. But still, he wasn’t the proud owner of a surround sound system that was nowhere to near to be connected with the rest of your setup.
You heaved a sigh and eyed the chaos around you. There were cables everywhere and the manual lay crumpled on the couch. Six sound boxes were scattered across the room, waiting patiently to be put in their new place. Oh, and you weren’t even talking about all of the packaging it had arrived in! Ugh. You were ready to give up, even if it meant you couldn’t enjoy your favorite movie with some proper sound effects tonight. Whatever that meant anyway. This hadn’t been your idea.
Defeated, you strolled towards the kitchen. The least you could do, was reward yourself with a glass of wine. You opened the fridge and nearly jumped when someone knocked on the kitchen window. When you quickly turned your head to see who was disturbing you, your eyes met the dreamy blue ones of your next-door neighbor, Fíli. He was holding a bottle of wine and winked at you. His golden locks radiated in the sun and for a moment, you once again appreciated how handsome the bastard was. He obviously liked to take care of himself, as his blonde, shoulder length hair was almost more soft than yours and his beard was trimmed into perfection. Normally you weren’t into mustache braids, but the way this guy sported those made your legs weak. Fíli was wearing a simple, blue t-shirt with a V-neck that showed off some of his chest hair. You sincerely hoped that he had not paired it with his favorite jeans, because otherwise you’d spent all night gawking that fine ass.
‘Hey, Y/N!’ Fíli called, his eyes twinkling mischievously. ‘You’re going to let me stand here all night?’ You smiled and moved to the door to let him in. Because of all the hassle, you almost had forgotten it was Friday night. A few months ago, when you were new in this neighborhood, Fíli had swung by to say hello. In hindsight, you had lost your heart that night on your doorstep, though you had denied it for months after. It wasn’t a coincidence that the two of you had developed a habit of spending Friday nights together, since both of you highly enjoyed each other’s company over going out in search of love. In addition, Fíli was one hell of a chef in his spare time.
‘How are you faring, love?’ Fíli inquired while kissing your cheek. ‘How was work?’ ‘Ah. It was fine.’ You replied, closing the fridge and reaching for your fancy wine glasses in the cabinet. ‘My boss was a total pain in the ass, though that’s nothing new.’ Fíli smirked. ‘What’s the old toad up to now?’ A giggle escaped you and you shot him a glance. ‘You know you can’t call her that! What if I say that while at work? She will have my head!’ ‘Ah, but then all you have to do is to call upon your knight to save you.’ He told you while opening the bottle and pouring some wine. ‘I have a knight?’ you wondered. ‘Why hasn’t he informed me yet? I would spare me loads of trouble.’ Fíli shrugged, his eyes flashing briefly over your face. ‘Maybe he’s been a coward and doesn’t know how to show it’s him.’ ‘Selfish bastard.’ You muttered, too engrossed in the red liquid pouring into your glass to notice. ‘Anyway, no matter. I don’t need a knight.’ ‘Not even in shiny armor?’ ‘No.’ You groaned. The last guy you had gone on a date with a few months ago, had those ridiculous old-fashioned standards that you possibly couldn’t and wouldn’t meet. Naturally, the date had been a disaster when you straight up told him you refused to settle for a ‘woman’s place is in the kitchen’ kind of relationship.
Fíli took a sip and leaned against the counter. ‘I don’t get why the women get the knights, and us men have to settle for the princesses.’ ‘You want a knight, eh?’ you grinned, grateful for the fact that your friend hadn’t noticed you mentally had visited the dreadful topic of your dating life. ‘Exactly.’ He nodded vigorously. ‘Someone who can battle dragons, command legions.’ ‘And take over the world?’ you filled in. ‘Bend every civilization to your will?’ Fíli laughed and lazily moved towards the living room. His blue eyes burned through yours and you bit your lip. ‘Those are your words, milady, not mine.’ He purred as he disappeared in the hallway.
You winced when you discovered that he was, in fact, wearing his (and your) favorite pair of jeans. Damn that fine ass!
‘I said I wanted a knight.’ Fíli went on, obliviously to your appreciative glances. ‘A knight, Y/N, not a- Mahal’s hairy balls! What happened here?’
Oh Mahal’s hairy balls indeed. You had forgotten about the ground zero in your living room. You turned the corner. Fíli was eyeing the chaos with an amused smirk. ‘Is that the surround sound system I recommended to you?’ he asked. ‘Yeah.’ You said. ‘But I wasn’t finished just yet. I merely went to the kitchen to get myself some wine.’ ‘Finished with what?!’ Fíli grinned. ‘Wreaking havoc?’ ‘Oh, you ass! I was getting there!’ ‘Yeah?’ Fíli gestured at the pile of cables on the carpet. ‘That won’t work. Try again.’ ‘Hmmm.’ You mused while draining your wine in one go and putting the glass aside. ‘If I do that, I will lose my sanity. The helpdesk guy said it was easy, but I beg to differ.’ ‘You even called the helpdesk?’ Fíli chuckled as he grabbed the manual from the couch. ‘You must have been quite desperate.’ ‘I wanted to do this by myself!’ you said fiercely. ‘And I know I can, it’s just…’ ‘It’s not that complicated, once you know what to do.’ Fíli told you. ‘Shall I walk you through it?’ You narrowed your eyes. ‘Are you going to make fun of me in the process?’ He laughed. ‘Maybe a little. But in the end you’re a bloody amazing person and I’m sure you can do anything, if you set your mind to it.’ ‘Don’t mock me.’ He shook his head. ‘I’m not. You’re the proverbial whole package, and I don’t mean that in a patronizing way.’ You lifted a brow. ‘Then in what way?’ He took a step closer. His wineglass still holding in one hand, he gently stroked your cheek with the other. A fond smile was displayed on his face. ‘In a brilliant, I rather spend my free nights with you than going out, because what I want is right there, way.’ Your cheeks were on fire and you lowered your gaze. Your teeth sunk in your lower lip and slowly turned into a mumbling, flushed mess. ‘What? But I’m-’ ‘Y/N.’ Fíli whispered and a soft thud informed you he put his glass on the floor. You didn’t dare to look up, because you knew this moment would turn out to be a) a dream, or b) a cruel joke. So instead, your gaze was fixed on the carpet.
‘Y/N.’ Two sturdy hands cupped your cheeks and gently tilted your head. A pair of dreamy blue eyes came into view and your heart skipped a beat. ‘You have asked me countless times why I had zero interest in dating.’ Fíli began with a faint smile. ‘Now let me answer that one for you: from the moment we met, I haven’t been interested in any other woman, but you.’ ‘Why didn’t you say so?’ you managed to blurt out. ‘Because you’re quite independent.’ Fíli confessed. ‘And it’s one of the things I like that about you.’ ‘Independent doesn’t mean-’ ‘I know that.’ He told you. ‘But I wanted to make sure that you and I match in all the right ways, rather dragging out our worst qualities like some couples tend to do.’ ‘Oh Fíli… Why would you think that?’ ‘I just...’ He heaved a sigh. ‘Fell in love with the wrong person one time, I suppose. After that you get careful.’ You pulled him against you and placed a gentle kiss on his jaw. ‘Sounds like you’re in need of a knight.’ Fíli chuckled. ‘And a damn brave one, I daresay.’ ‘That settles it. I am forever in your service, good sir.’ You grinned. ‘Do you happen to know a princess with technical proficiency?’ Fíli laughed and you reveled in the sound. ‘Oh, Y/N.’ he murmured, his lips ghosting over yours.
And then he kissed you.

The 13 Ghosts of Darcy Lewis (4)
Summary: Halloween is one of Darcy’s favorite holidays, but the spooky fun is about to be hijacked. Now, Darcy must traverse a nightmare vision of the Avengers Compound and collect the 13 ghosts of the Avengers before midnight or else the spell will never be broken. However, she’s going to have some mighty monsters to fight - the Avengers themselves.
Author’s Note: This fic will be 31 chapters long, but each chapter will be of drabble length (approx. 200-1500 words). I’m using a prompt list of my own making to guide the story. Chapters are updated every day or, because I am a working mother of four, every other day.
Chapter 4: Seen This Movie (Here’s Johnny!)
Characters: Darcy Lewis, Pepper Potts, Laura Barton, Psycho!Nick Fury
Relationships: Darcy Lewis & Pepper Potts & Laura Barton, mentions of Nick Fury/Maria Hill
Warnings: Strong language
Darcy felt herself tumble to the floor, and cried out in offended agony as her hip met the hardwood. “Dammit,” she muttered.
“Darcy, you okay?” Laura asked, sitting up from where she had also been dumped unceremoniously on the floor.
           “Yeah, Pepper?”
The red head was sitting, rubbing her left hip with murder in her eyes. “Other than my pride, I’m alright.” She looked around, her eyes roaming over the room with recognition. “Why are we in Fury’s quarters?”
Nicholas Fury wasn’t supposed to be alive, but it was an open secret around the compound that he lived in Maria Hill’s basement. Tony had renovated the space beautifully, with hardwood floors and dark furniture that fit Fury’s understated masculinity. However, it was also an open secret that Fury didn’t usually live in these rooms since he and Hill had an amorphous relationship that one hesitated to call exclusive but didn’t want to risk the wrath of either partner by hitting on the other. Granted, no one in their right mind would make a move on Fury, and Hill’s glare was vicious.
The three women glanced at one another as they picked themselves off the floor. “What the hell is this?” Laura asked indignantly. “That sick freak’s idea of a joke?”
Pepper cocked her head, and turned towards a door. It was probably to the bedroom. “Do you hear that?”
Darcy strained her ears, and realized that there was a scrapping sound coming from the door that Pepper was looking at. “Do you think Fury’s here?”
“Nick?” Pepper called, her voice strained. The three women could almost feel that something was off, but none of them wanted to admit it aloud. “Nick? It’s Pepper.”
Something slammed into the door, wrenching shrieks from three throats. Laura reached back and grabbed Darcy, who held on in turn. Another slam had the three taking a step back in terrified unison. The third hit caused the wood of the door to splinter. The fourth opened up a hole big enough to see into the other room. “Nick?!” Laura shrieked, terror causing her normally pleasant voice to crack.
In the void appeared an eye. A bloodshot, dark eye. “Here’s Nicky!” Fury said, his voice a creepy singsong. The eye disappeared, and another blow shook the door.
Darcy had seen this movie. Darcy had seen this movie. “Come on!” she cried, pulling Laura with her. “We’ve got to get out of here!”
Laura reached out to her other side and pulled Pepper along, the taller redhead not putting up much resistance. The three shot towards the entrance of the apartment, and screamed again when the other door burst open. Over her shoulder, Darcy caught a chilling sight. Nick Fury was dressed in black slacks and a black t-shirt, and wielded a huge ax. “But ladies!” he called, “We’re not done playing!”
“Forget that!” Pepper yelled, barreling up the stairs. They made it up to Hill’s part of the house, moving quickly into the living room. Laura almost literally hit the front door, and they had to slow because the older woman nearly tumbled down the front stairs head first. Hill was one of the few that actually had a house separate from the main compound, but the main building was only a short walk away. The women kept moving, but after a moment, Darcy slowed and looked back. “He’s not following us.”
Laura stopped as well, and Pepper joined them. “The hell was that?” Laura asked. “What the hell was wrong with Nick?!”
“A ghost was riding him,” a familiar yet hated voice replied.
The three women whirled around and found Enchantress standing with them in the moonlight. She gleamed, and Darcy felt the need to scratch her eyes out well up with vicious purpose. “A ghost was riding him?” Pepper snarled for her.
“Yes,” Enchantress said. “That is your challenge. One of you must capture the thirteen ghosts of the Avengers. If they should prevent you from doing so, you lose the challenge.”
“Thirteen ghosts?” Darcy snapped, “The hell is this? Scooby Doo?”
“How are we supposed to catch thirteen ghosts?”
Enchantress grinned. “That is for you to figure out. Now hurry. You have until midnight or else the spell will become permanent.” As quickly as she was there, she was gone.
“For fuck’s sake,” Pepper snapped, her usual poise gone in the face of what she was experiencing. “For fuck’s sake.”
