I know stray gods is praised but I am not on board with its demonization of hades and ares. I know anti hades fans praise it portraying him as an abuser as being more accurate to myths when nothing in the myths indicates he did anything abusive to persephone in theor marriage. Also again ares us depicted as a monster so obsessed with war he sides with the nazis.

I agree, the idiom idea is cool ig and it helps makes sense as to why these gods tend to have conflicting personalities and parentages in different sources but it’s really not for me, I especially hate how they portray Aphrodite and Hephaestus’s relationship, she treats him like garbage (accurate ig) and he sacrifices his life for her, why are modern writers so insisted on keeping them together? And what’s with modern writers making Ares the cause of the (very real) World Wars?

Also yeah I get ppl are frustrated with Hades being overly portrayed as a good guy (I am too that’s why I prefer to imagine him having Disney Hades personality) but aside from Kidnapping Persephone he literally never did anything that extreme ever again, (unless there is some Orphic fragments somewhere saying otherwise lol) unlike how Zeus treats Hera, Hades actually treats Persephone as his equal in authority of the underworld. That’s what drew ppl to their relationship in the first place.
