A random confession for you - I really like TharnType despite objectively knowing it is not a good show. The writing is atrocious, the plot is absurd, there is unaddressed SA, the production quality is low and most of the cast are not particularly good actors - doesn’t matter. Something about the characters and the chemistry just works despite all of that. It will always be on my problematic fav list.
Hey Shan! It's no secret that I personally loved TharnType (both seasons). Sure the series was toxic...but so are a bunch of other BLs prior to TT and after. People are entitled to their own opinions but people demonize TT like there aren't worse series and couples out there.
I will say that MAME's take on assault definitely seems to be hypocritical in that series but she's a huge fan of "It's not SA if these 2 characters end up together." It's featured in a lot of her series. It's a MAME staple. Like she'll feature SA in a couple and poorly address it but then have characters literally have trauma from r*pe and SA.
I think it's easier for me to enjoy TT because I don't focus on literally any of the other couples because they are not good (Except ChampDoc! I adore them).
MewGulf's chemistry was off the charts in both seasons and that's really what kept people watching. They really outsold their hate for each other and their intimacy with each other. I hate that Mew had to go off on toxic stans because they couldn't accept that MewGulf were never a real couple and that a lot of what they did were fanservice.
And I am pretty sure that everyone has at least ONE problematic fave if not many, many more.
Does anyone else have any Random BL Confessions/Opinions/Thoughts they want to share?

You’ve probably answered an ask like this b4 (and if u had I’m sorry for asking again!) but are there any dramas where like it’s bad, BUT there’s enough chemistry between the leads that it’s palatable? I know chemistry can’t save all sinking ships but it can certainly try
Or vice versa, really good show but the chemistry is just so lacking it wasn’t worth continuing, hope ur having a good day :)
hi anon!
I don't think I've gotten an ask like this before so it's all good lmao.
Obviously chemistry is important but like you said, it’s definitely not everything.
Sadly there are way too many shows that have a chemistry>plot mentality and back in my early bl days I didn’t care about that as much but that has definitely changed lol like I’m no longer willing to tolerate shows like check out and I won’t consider a series palatable just because the chemistry is good. It's the main issue I’m having with Love in the Air at the moment. Vice Versa on the other hand gets both things right imo. the plot is good and so is the chemistry. I really like it.
But anyway to answer your question, here are some shows where the chemistry is better than the plot (only imo obvs, in no particular order):
Gen Y (just MarkKit - plot is horrible but kimcop are delivering)
The Tuxedo (one of the worst shows I have ever seen in terms of writing and a wasted potential for the leads who have a very good chem)
Bad Buddy (the plot is not bad, don’t get me wrong. But it got a little lost. the show ended up relying too much on OhmNanon, who were fantastic though)
Love With Benefits (Gameplay clicks well with pretty much everyone on this show. that’s it.)
You Make Me Dance (I liked the leads but the plot was the dumbest thing ever sorry)
You’re My Sky (I wouldn’t say the plot was terrible but it got very draggy towards the end. A+ chem from all couples though)
Second Chance (plot put me to sleep but the pairings were good together)
TharnType 2 (unnecessary plot but mewgulf are mewgulf and that’s enough said.)
Secret Crush On You (this show is ridiculous from A-Z but billyseng are off the charts)
An honorable mention goes out to Cutie Pie, which I was hesitating to put on this list because I really liked it but admittedly the plot was a bit strange sometimes lmao. I wouldn’t call it bad but yknow. However I don’t think we need to talk about the chemistry because. no comment.
I hope this answered your question anon.
take care and have a lovely day!!! 💜

Love Stage!! Episode 7 was DELIGHTFUL.  We had our second couple confirmed and a rather cute sequence of big brother trying to menace Ryu behind Anda’s back whilst being unable to resist being sweet with his own faen.
Then a DOUBLE SEX SCENE - both good but Ryu/Anda felt more convincing and their chemistry is off the charts obviously.  Those brothers both like a neck grab don’t they?
Turbo gives really good sex face (If you know what I mean and what I mean is that he looks like he’s definitely enjoying what’s going on).
Note:  Kaownah looks massive in this - he’s clearly bulked up a bit since Tharntype and he’s a lot bigger than Turbo. In TT though he managed to appear much slighter and shorter then which worked for the Lhong character.  I just checked and he’s as tall as Tharn and only a cm or so off of Type but he slouches and ducks his head and acts, well, smaller.  Clever boy.
I’m enjoying this so much more than I anticipated.  *happy sigh*

Day 7 — Your Favorite Actor: Gulf Kanawut
Tumblr media
It’s a bit difficult to pick a favorite because I’ve only seen most BL actors as part of the main cast in one show, maybe two at best, and generally speaking I don’t pay much attention to actors/singers/etc. outside of their projects (like, I don’t follow them on social media and I rarely read/watch interviews).
I’ve decided to go with Gulf because his performance is probably the main reason why I love TharnType so much. I mean, I really like Mew as well and his chemistry with Gulf is OFF THE CHARTS, but Gulf playing Type is truly something else.
He brings so much to the character: Type’s anger, for instance, especially at the beginning of the series, would be so much more off-putting if Gulf hadn’t imbued it right away with Type’s special blend of brattiness and insecurity. And as Type grows as a character and learns to deal with that anger, Gulf manages to both retain and nuance his fierceness. The acting choices he made going into TharnType 2? Chef’s kiss 👌🏻 I mean, that was basically me @ Type the whole time:
Tumblr media
And then Gulf also played Type’s vulnerable moments in a way that’s so quiet, but always so telling and moving — a look, a tilt of the head, a tensing of the shoulders... Uugh. And it translates so well in his more (physically/emotionally) intimate scenes with Mew, particularly throughout the first series, when Type’s still figuring himself / his relationship with Tharn out and treading both exciting and terrifying new territories. It truly elevates each of these scenes — they’re always sexy, I mean, you certainly can’t take that away from Tharntype, but Gulf’s acting gives them extra depth and meaningfulness. (Not that Mew’s not playing his part in that but personally I always end up focusing on Gulf.) For example, this kiss? God it just gets me each time. (The bar kiss being a very, very close second — @negrowhat you know what I’m talking about.)
Tumblr media
And I could write so much more about him but suffice it to say, he’s got the range, darling. Like, he’s also so fucking funny? I’m still not over the first series’ special, when Type and Tharn are visiting Type’s parents, and Type just drives away with Tharn on his motorcycle after making his dad go apoplectic over their relationship. That shit was hilarious.
Tumblr media
But the one scene, over both series, that made me go, “Fuck. He’s so good!!” is that post “break-up” scene. I swear it’s breaking my heart all over again just seeing GIFs ot it.
Tumblr media
In conclusion:

Day 3: Favorite Couple(s) - Tutor/Fighter (Why R U), Tharn/Type (Tharntype)
Tumblr media
Tutor/Fighter - I love these two, both individually and as a couple. Individually, they are complex characters both with their own set of problems (Tutor with his financial struggles, Fighter with his parental issues). As a couple, they complement each other. Fighter takes care of Tutor like no one has ever done before, and Tutor gives Fighter the affection he has always craved. They had some issues at the end that I think were glossed over, maybe due to COVID impacting the filming schedule, but overall their relationship was a beautiful thing to watch. Also their chemistry is OFF THE CHARTS.
Tharn/Type - These two also have my heart, which I am surprised to say as it took me a few tries to really get into this series. Their chemistry, as well, is undeniable and their intimate scenes are beautifully done. But what I love most about this couple is how realistic they are. Their relationship is messy and imperfect, but they make an effort to learn and grow. And how they grow indeed. From the first episode to the finale and then the special episode, you can tell how much work they have put into their relationship. I really hope their growth is depicted in the second season as well.

Tag game: 5 male (BL) characters that I love
Thanks for the tag @pcktzaintsee  you kept me up all night trying to decide on only 5 😂😂😂 (Un)Luckily I don’t have uni because of the coronavirus so I had all day to figure this out. So here they are, in no particular order:
Kongpop - SOTUS
Tumblr media
Sotus was one of my first bl series and I fell in love with Kongpop (and his relationship with Arthit). I really like him because to me he seems so realistic, and I love how he’s not afraid to say what he thinks and the way he just really cares about the people around him.
Intouch - Until We Meet Again
Tumblr media
So first of all, Earth Katsamonnat owns my heart, I love everything he does. But his character in this series is one of my favourite things in the world. I love In because he basically annoyed Korn until Korn fell in love with him, but did it in such an adorable way and it was so entertaining. It’s so amazing that with all the sh*tty things that was going on in his life, he was always just so happy and he loved Korn so much and I just can’t handle this, he deserved the whole world 😭😭😭😭
Tutor - Why R U?
Tumblr media
I. LOVE. TUTOR. Okay, I love all the characters in this series but Tutor is just somehow special. He acts tough, says he doesn’t need help, but now he’s starting to open up to Fighter and I love that. I want him to realize how good it feels to have someone to help and take care of you because he deserves that and he deserves to be loved and I can’t wait to seem him being happy with Fighter. Also, Saint’s chemistry with Zee is just off the charts, I’m not sure I’ll survive the beach episode.
Win - Until We Meet Again
Tumblr media
Soooo.... If I could I would really just put the whole UWMA cast here, but that would already be more than 5. So I chose Win, because I really-really-really liked his character. I loved this friendship with Dean, the way he teased him a lot, but you could see how much he cared about him and how he wanted Dean to be happy with Pharm. In short, he’s an A+ friend. I also loved his relationship with Team. It’s so clear how much he cares about Team and I love how he gets kind of soft around him. With that said, I really hope they will get their own series or a continuation of UWMA or something because they are amazing and there’s so much more to their story.
Type - TharnType
Tumblr media
This is an interesting one. To be honest, I was going to write Tharn at first, but I ended up choosing Type. The reason for that is while I absolutely adore Tharn (although I don’t agree with everything he does. Tharn, sweetie, consent, please), I feel like Type’s character is really interesting. I didn’t like him in the first few episodes (I actually almost stopped watching the series because of that), but he changed so much during the series and I think that’s why I actually ended up choosing him. I really enjoyed seeing him fall for Tharn and how at first he was kind of conflicted about his feelings and that most of the time he had no idea what he was doing, he just did what felt right to him. He is a really complex character and Gulf did such an amazing job with him, I really can’t wait for season 2. (Although I barely survived the first season without a heart attack so I might die this time, but what a great way to go...)
Soo there it is. My top 5. I feel guilty, I left out so many people I love, especially from series that I haven’t watched recently.
I tag @flower-of-the-desert @dollopheadsandclotpoles @weiwuxxxians @sweet-potatoq @bldramagalore  I haven’t really talked to most of you but you all seem awesome so yeah. Hi 😊 *tries not to have a panic attack over tagging a few people in a post on the internet but is definitely failing at it, social anxiety really does suck, doesn’t it?* (and if any of you already did this challenge, then just ignore me, I’m sorry, I don’t have time to check)

TharnType SS2 Season Finale and Final Thoughts
Tumblr media
Thanya has done more work for TT’s relationship than Tharn ever could. I think Thanya has been learning how to deal with people from Type. Look at her face when Mr. Thiwat starts talking smack. It’s about time someone cracked that old man. Type must have never opened that chat in the first place; it’s been months since they kicked him out. And we love a self aware king. Type knows he’s a dick. It’s nice to see.
I could’ve done without Leo and Fiat. I figured their story was wrapped up enough. Pop off, I guess.
Tumblr media
Type seems to mention this grandkid thing a lot. Like more than his dad. It’s refreshing to see Tharn respect Type’s decisions like this. He catches himself, realizes he’s putting himself first, and changes direction for Type. I really wish there was more of this attitude throughout the show. This is a scene that demonstrates how a couple who have been together for 7 years can communicate with little words. They are coexisting in this moment, understanding the other’s needs. You can tell that even though Tharn doesn’t understand this tradition, he is fully supporting Type. I wish this was shown more during the entirety of the show.
Tumblr media
I also wish Type’s ordainment as a monk wasn’t just a part of an episode. There’s so many undertones in relationship changes during Type’s monkhood that should have been further elaborated. In my personal opinion. It seems that Tharn learned about himself during this month as well, and I really would’ve appreciated the acknowledgement of that. Imagine if episode 10 was episode 11 and episode 11 showed us Type’s dad learning about Tharn, and teaching Tharn. What if we were able to see Tharn and Mr. Thiwat’s relationship and respect for another grow. At the end of the day, Thanya only showed her face. Mr. Thiwat knows that Tharn is taking care of his son, no matter the racist or homophobic comments that he hides behind. I feel like this was a missed opportunity. (Lost in the film just for Leo and Fiat to have more screentime). This was also a missed opportunity to show international fans more of the beauty of this tradition. The architecture of the temple and the ceremony seem unique and fun and really family oriented, and it kinda felt glossed over. But THAT TIME SKIP/TRANSITION? OF THARN VISITING TYPE? CLEAN! That’s the best editing in the entire show. At me.
Doc and Champ also deserve a little more. Their ending seemed… slapped on. Question: Is Champ a himbo, an airhead, or blind? “Love clearly, makes you blind,” my ass. Their ending wouldn’t be like this if Khunpol took Type’s advice. *shrugs*
Tumblr media
I hate the beanie. But I guess it works if Type’s insecure about being bald. When I saw the welcome home scene the first time, I noticed Type touched the butt and I thought it in the nemo voice; It was hilarious to me.
Tharn crying and saying his vows is so Tharn. His dreams are finally coming true and he can plan the cheesiest, most romantic, in your face, gushy, mushy wedding ever. I can’t wait. But I called it. I knew because of the pacing of ep 3, TT’s wedding wasn’t happening in the series. I’ll talk about that at the end.
I love how tight knit the Kiriguns are. I wish this was my family. Tharn’s teasing P’Thorn until the end. (I’ve seen boomsticks in the behind the scenes pics, why is the mic work so shoddy in the entire season?) Tharn did cry though. GIL USED THARN! That’s the funniest thing in the entire season. Tharn’s face reeled them in, disappointment led them to Gil.
Tumblr media
P’Arm’s dress is prettier than Bella Swan’s was, and I’m jealous I didn’t do navy for my wedding!! (I guess crying runs in the Kiriguns blood, P’Thorn is up there looking like Tharn. That is a family of hopeless romantics.)
Why did Thanya catch the bouquet? It don’t sit right with me. Isn’t she like 15?
I COMPLETELY FORGOT THAT THIS WAS BEING NARRATED BY TYPE THIS WHOLE TIME. That being said, why he know so much of LeoFiat’s business? Wild.
Do I like this season? Not really.
So, if you were to watch season 2 with zero expectations, I would assume you would have an alright experience. The show is almost typical, fairly easy to follow (although long winded) and the chemistry and acting is top notch. There’s so many variables in the show that would have easily made an excellent show had other variables shown their worth. I had all the expectations. The show was marketed with a TT wedding, a little jealousy and a lot of spice. We didn’t get that. There are some that are fine with this and some that aren’t. I’ll tell you why I’m not cool with this season, or the future special episode.
The TharnType wedding that was advertised, implied, and marketed to happen this season is instead being turned into a cash grab. I understand that the last one was pay to watch as well, but let’s talk about the content of that special episode. Season one’s special episode has nothing in it that is impertinent to the marketed plot. It was simply TT lost in a dream of the first time Tharn met Type’s parents. I’m sure it wasn’t implied that Tharn would meet them anytime soon in the first season. Essentially, you do not need the first special episode to realize that Type’s dad is biased against Tharn. That is made clear by the first two or three episodes of TTSS2. Opposingly, TT’s wedding was promised in the promotions of the second season. Blatantly. It would be different if the proposal was alluded or implied. If the promotion posters didn’t feature TT’s names intertwined with rings. (Take Thonhon Chonlatee for example. An heir wasn’t included in the promotions or alluded to in the series, but what happened happened.) Some people are like “well, the book stopped at blank” not every show follows the book, and some of us haven’t been able to read the book. It hasn’t been officially translated, and some of us wanted to avoid big spoilers and watch it fresh eyed. To me, a special episode is not a continuation of a promise, it is extra content beyond the main plot of the season.
The reason I’m not cool with the season can be inferred from my posts. I wanted a grown relationship. I wanted a grown, healthy, communicative relationship indicative of seven years of mutual maturity. I was excited to watch Tharn and Type deal with obstacles like loving, mature adults, but the show proved juvenile and problematic to me. The title TharnType 2: 7 Years of Love, to me, implies trust, understanding and openness. Maybe even their love being a positive influence for relationships around them. Or like the love bug striking the people around them. I understand not every relationship is not like that irl, but I wanted that representation on film. Some parts of the show delivered this, but in general it fell flat.
The actors, in my opinion, are all very talented and outshine the script, editing, camera work… pretty much all the production. I really hope all the actors featured in season 2 are able to showcase their talents in another series soon.
My rating for season 2: 5/10; the acting’s good, the chemistry’s there, but the story is too long winded for me. There are many other shows this year that have done better. I think Still 2gether being such a good addition to 2gether, skewed my opinion of what a Thai sequel could be. Rather, I should have referred to Together with Me: the Next Chapter for sequel expectations. (I honestly think the Next Chapter was better.) All in all, there isn’t much setting it apart from other Thai dramas; there are plenty that match this that you can just watch something else. Would I rewatch season 2 as a stand alone? Prolly not. I might let it run after watching season 1 while I do my nails and I need background noise. It’s not the worst show I’ve seen this year, but it is far from the best.
I’m gonna catch up with Manner of Death now (I had to put it on the backburner because I couldn’t concentrate on Thonhon, TT AND MoD). I think I’m too late for a “who did it” chart, so I may post a” scene that I laughed at, but shouldn’t have” instead. I have a stupid easy to rouse sense of humor.
Maybe I’ll see you again for KinnPorche, or if you have any suggestions of shows I should watch let me know! (I just finished Cherry Magic, it was so sweet and fluffy.)

We’re not even finished with the TharnType drama yet and they’ve already become one of my favorite pairings, second only to AePete (seriously, no one can beat AePete, they’re in a category of their own).
I love that the first half of the drama was basically us finding out about Type’s past and his issues whereas Tharn seemed rather well-adjusted with only hints of things that might not be really okay. Now, in the second half, we’re getting to know Tharn better and we’re finding out just how effed up his past is. It’s really fascinating. Because what happened to Type is firmly in the past while rippling over into the present, whereas Tharn’s bogeyman keeps coming back and he keeps effing up his life. Type and Tharn’s issues are so very similar and yet so different at the same time. What a truly intriguing story!
Also, there’s Mew and Gulf, of course, the actors, and their chemistry is off the charts. When you watch the BTS vids and read what the writer said about their closeness... it does the soul a world of good, it truly does.

~ BL/GL TAG GAME ~
I got tagged by @wanderlust-in-my-soul 😃 Thank you so much! I love tag-games!
Your all time favorite bl character and why?
Namgoong (Light On Me). ~I will miss him! – I have shared so many posts about him.
His face expressions were priceless, the way he stood up for his friends to other people was amazing but also tactful not rude, the advice /talks he gave to his friends was amazing and 🙂 his confidence level was off the charts ~ always mentioning how handsome he is to others. I loved seeing him smile 😃 We all need a bestie like him in our lives ❣
What’s your one character from a bl you wanted to punt into the stratosphere (you only get one so choose wisely).
Lee SoHee (Light on Me) – I liked her at first, she was honest and direct. BUT her being jealous of TaeKyung because of the way DaOn is looking and smiling at him and what she did to separate them by sharing that picture!!! Making sound like she owned him… I had the hardest time watching her when she was trying to explain to DaOn why she did what she did and then her crying??!! (I wish I could have reached through the screen to slap her)
On a side NOTE though – the way Namgoong handled her and helped her to realize what she did wrong!! Again just LOVE HIM❣
The best music moment from a bl.
Namgoong ~(Light on me) ~ His karaoke performances!! His first one he sang alone and the butt shake at the end of it –WOW, then he went over to TaeKyung  and mentioned he was not giving his all because he was still upset ---Dude really that wasn’t your all?? Then he also help ShinWoo, with his performance and I just have to say BOTH were cute/funny.
Ok sorry but not sorry~ I have to mention- Tharn (TharnType) – ANY time he plays the drums❣
What’s a popular heterosexual text that you would like to see adapted into a bl/gl?
Disney~ But the classic princess Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Little Mermaid…Etc
A scene from a bl that always makes you laugh.
Sotus: The Series – While I laughed as so many moments with these two ..the one part that I always laugh at is:
Arthit: “What if I don’t give you this gear badge?”
Kong: “Then I just take it from you.”
Arthit: “What did you say?!”
Kong: “If you don’t give the gears to us, we can just take them from you.”
Arthit: “How do you do that?”
Kong: “I just make you my wife. They say, ‘what belongs to your lover is also yours’. So, if I can make you my wife, your gear badge is also mine.”
 Biggest disappointment.
The Tuxedo – I did not like this one… it made NO sense and we all know they have chemistry, so I really hope we can see these boys again in something better!
What two random bl/gl characters would make hilarious exes?
Green (2gether the series) and Toh (Secret Crush On You) – These two together I bet would be funny as hell both are so loud and expressive– You got Green who is someone that makes a GRAND jester over everything and is also one moody person – one minute running away from his ex in the show acting like he is scare of him and the next having sex with him right after a fight. Then you got Toh who collects everything he can get away with that belongs to his crush and let’s not forget the noises he makes when making out with said crush.
Who would be the funniest person to person to watch a bl in its entirety and which one would you make them watch.
My best friend – she thinks I watch too many BL’s (like that could ever happen)
Bad Buddy ~I just love and miss this show. I think that she would laugh at the same parts I found funny but also I can see her taking back to the tv making comments about the parents, about how they finally came together, how their friends took care of them and OH the scene where Pat is at Pran’s area at the University asking for approval to date him …She actually did this in High School and made one of my dates to a dance ask her for permission before she would allow me to answer, and yes she asked ALL kinds of questions like she was my parent –LOL
Best wardrobe moment/or character wardrobe from a bl.
Tharn (TharnType) – When he has his shirt open half way down and your thinking at that point.. WHY are you even wearing a shirt? ..a few seconds later he takes it off and well you get the point❣

Hi so your reblogs tagged with tharntype (i hope i wrote it right or you at least know what i meant). Can you tell me about them? Like what series? Is it interesting (plot and romance wise or whatever)? I hope you dont mind me coming into your ask box like that. Thanks for your time (:
Of course I don’t mind! TharnType: The Series is a Thai BL drama about two boys who happen to be roommates at university and eventually fall in love. One of them, Type, starts off as a homophobic jerk due to the fact that he was abused/raped by a man when he was a child. Tharn, instead, is openly gay, so Type initially hates him, but they end up being more and more sexually and emotionally attracted to each other. I personally love the series, because the actors perfectly portray all the conflicting emotions their characters feel and their chemistry is off the charts. I understand that there’s some topics that are quite heavy in the series, like rape, non-con, homophobic slurs, etc... but I love how the characters visibly grow throughout the series. They’re well-rounded, three-dimensional characters who are very well written. I like most of the secondary characters too, especially Type’s best friend Techno, who definitely never knows when to shut up lmao

@shirasade said that Why R U? gave her the same feel as Love By Chance. And I agree. FighterTutor is the only thing that I care about in this drama. But luckily, I really don’t mind because I went into the show interested only in Saint Suppapong and Zee Pruk’s characters. And so far, I’m really happy with their chemistry - which is off the charts - and their pairing’s development. Love it, so much.
So, just like with LBC where I adored AePete and didn’t give one damn about anything else, here I’m sticking with it for FighterTutor. As long as they remain awesome and juicy, I will be happy. And because of them, I’m very happy that WRU is nowadays the most popular drama on Line TV! And also #1 Twitter trend in Thailand every Friday. Good for Saint & Zee!
Also, this drama made me want to finally watch TharnType in its entirety and also Make It Right so...
