gallavich sad/fluffy/happy ending oneshot - Couple’s Therapy #2 | Mexico
Mickey and Ian sat on the couch in their counsellor’s office. This was the second meeting. After the first one had gone well, Mickey’s anxiety about the situation had diminished and Ian was happy to go again. Their love for each other had only gotten stronger after getting their honest shit on the table. They were closer, always cuddling, spending less time staying up at night worrying.
“Well, no offence you two,” Nadine, their counsellor, began, “But after last time, I am expecting a doozy. You two have been through very... specific circumstances together. And I am curious to learn more and excited to help you both through more.” Nadine smiled. She had a look in her eyes that seemed to say that Mickey and Ian were a miracle.
“Glad to hear it,” Ian laughed half-heartedly.
“Now, what should we discuss today, did either of you have any ideas?”
“Uh...” Ian thought. He bounced around ideas in his head, but none of them stuck out.
Mickey, however, “I want to talk about Mexico,” he blurted.
Ian looked at Mickey at first with surprise and then with a somewhat sad, knowing look. “Okay, Mickey,” he agreed, “Let’s talk about Mexico.”
This time, Ian and Mickey were holding each other’s hands for support. Ian gave Mickey’s hand a squeeze... to tell him that he’s listening.
“Mexico? What happened in Mexico?” Nadine inquired.
“It was before Mexico, actually,” Mickey began explaining to Nadine. “I’d broken out of prison. I was on the run from the cops and... fuck, I wanted to be with Ian,” he and Ian both had lopsided smiles, “And when he met me at the docks... even though he had a boyfriend, it was pretty fuckin’ intense, in a good way, if I do say so myself. And he agreed to go to Mexico with me, sorta. He got in the vehicle and we went and... well, shit happened on the way, but that’s not the point. He left. At the border. He wouldn’t go with me.”
“I see.” Nadine said.
“I’m sorry, Mick–”
“No, no,” Mickey interrupted, “I don’t want you to apologize. You had your reasons.”
“Can we step back for a moment and talk about this?” Nadine asked them both.
“Yeah,” Ian said. Mickey nodded nervously.
“Okay, Mickey, can you talk about how you felt when Ian met up with you and when he left at the border?”
Mickey thought for a moment, and then began, “When I thought he was going to Mexico with me, I felt high.” He gave a small laugh, reminiscing, “I felt like, I don’t know, I had everything. I broke out of prison, I was going to flee the fuckin’ country, and I had him there. There was nothing else I needed, you know? Ever since I came out, and I was with him, I felt like it was him and I against the world. No one else got it. No one else could get it.” He looked at Ian proudly, and then his face fell, “And then when he said he wasn’t going... one step before the finish line... I don’t know. I felt... too fuckin’ much. It felt like the opposite of having everything. It felt like having nothing. Going through the border, successfully even, and having a life out of prison felt like I was watching a fuckin’ boring movie. I wasn’t me anymore. I was on the outside, looking in, feeling like a fuckin’ robot with everything I did. And I’m not sayin’ that’s all his fault. I have my own shit I have to worry about. But I felt betrayed, too, you know? Like he was right there. He was going to go with me, and then he wasn’t. And it was like losing the reason it was all worth it after thinking that reason would be coming to Mexico with me. And... fuck. I’ll admit it; I still feel betrayed. And I don’t want to.” He looked at Ian, “Because I love him.”
Ian’s eyes were watering at this point. He was wiping them with his sleeves. Mickey could only look at him for a second more before looking away.
“Thank you, Mickey. Ian, do you hear him?” Nadine asked gently.
“Yes, Mickey,” He looked at him. “I hear you.”
“Ian, do you want to tell us how you felt during that situation?”
“Yeah,” he wiped the remainder of his tears off and nodded, “I really thought I was gonna go with him. I was happy, too.” He looked at Mickey with love, “He was the only person who could ever make me feel that way. Even my other boyfriends, they could never... it was never the same. And as we got to the border, that scared me. I was living a really simple life. And I was scared to get back in the game... back into really being with someone who had that power over me. Mickey and I had never been... stable. I didn’t know if we would survive in Mexico and that was scary. Leaving him hurt, though, and it made me wonder if I’d made the wrong decision. I cried all the way home. And in the back of my head, I was always kinda comparing my other boyfriends to him. I pretended, I lied to myself, saying that we weren’t good together. And maybe objectively most people would look at it that way too, but I knew he was the only person who could bring real feeling out of me. And that scared me. And that’s why I didn’t go with him. I know you said not to apologize, Mickey,” He looked at Mickey again, “But I’m sorry.”
Mickey blinked away the beginning of tears.
“Do you hear Ian, Mickey?”
“I do, but– Can I say something else?” Mickey looked at both Nadine and Ian. Nadine looked at Ian for an answer.
“Go ahead, Mick.” Ian said.
“I guess... the thing that hurts most is that you wouldn’t take a chance on me. You know, I’d, I’d go to fuckin’... Russia for you, I don’t know. I’d flee the country to Russia or fucking... China for you. I’d take that chance. And I just worry that... I don’t mean that to you. And I know it’s a lot to ask, and it might be unfair. But if I don’t mean that to you, I don’t know. It hurts.”
Ian’s heart sunk. He got it now. “Mickey... You mean everything to me. You’re right, okay?” Ian grabbed Mickey’s other hand and held them both. He looked Mickey right in the eyes. “I should have taken that chance. But right now, we’re married, and I’m taking that chance every day, because you could really ruin me. You have all that power over me now and I’m letting you. Letting somebody in like this was scarier than anything I’ve done. But you’re worth it, Mick, you mean that to me.”
Mickey was speechless. His breath was caught in his throat. Ian had a fucking way of making him cry.
“Do you hear him, Mickey?”
Mickey nodded slightly and looked at Ian. “I hear you, Ian.” He promptly wrapped his arms around Ian and hugged him tightly as he cried into his shoulder. “Fuck,” he laughed and pulled back, sniffling and wiping away snot. “Sorry if hugs aren’t allowed in the office or whatever,” he said to Nadine.
Nadine smiled, proud that the two were communicating. “Don’t worry. They sure are. Now, how about we talk about how you two can talk about these things at home when they come up.”
Nadine talked to them about communication, respect, how to step back when things got too heated, how to listen, mindfulness, and how to talk to each other in ways that aren’t antagonistic. Each of them thought some points were cheesy, but still, they listened. And in the coming weeks, they tried to work what Nadine told them into their everyday lives.
To their surprise – it worked.

Mccree x F!reader 1
~☆my first sorta song fic but not really, So reader is known as "Song bird" in the deadlock gang and Jesse's lover, takes place when he is recruited into Blackwatch☆~
Song is Desire by the assassins.
Mccree found himself in his usual spot in the deadlock bar on route 66. He had a long day, lady boss Ashe was having her usual fits about a job gone wrong and how this was a close call, whatever, he stopped listening after a while. He needed a breather, space, a moment to put himself back together. A few drinks always helped. He sat in a corner table, with acouple of open bottles, he was planning on drinking them all and after going back to his little apartment for a good snooze.
But he had to hear Her sing first. Yes in the deadlock crew there was one person he could listen to for hours. She went by the name Song Bird, known for her free spirit and lovely song voice, he never understood why she wasn't famous, away from this hell hole they called home. He could see her making a real name for herself, but she just smile and say she didnt want to sing for no body else but her family, which was the deadlock gang.
"Hey Song Bird, sing for us!" A random member said from the bar as she came down the stairs. "Hold on to your horses Johnny" she chuckled as her eyes caught Jesse's looking at her. She gave a wink in his direction as she made her way to the little stage they made for her. Song bird waited for her band to get ready, taking a deep breath as the band started to play.
"Anything you want, whatever's on your mind
I will seek out any treasure to satisfy your pleasure, baby
But don't ask for any guarantees
Standing on the edge, is what attracted me
The damage that we do, belongs to me and you, baby"
Jesse was immediately drawn into her voice, like he always was. It was no secret he had a thing for the girl. Who wouldn't? She was beautiful and had hips that could sway any mans wallet out their pockets.
"So don't love me, and don't lie
Don't let me see that look in your eyes
You promised from the start
We'd both keep love apart from desire"
In this life, you couldnt afford love, no happy endings, outside of the deadlock gang you were nothing, Ashe made sure of that when she recruited anyone into her screwed up family. Song bird knew this, so did Jesse, which was why their feelings for eachother were so hidden. It was playful smiles and winks but underneath was two people who wanted more, they wanted the world to know they were more than Ashe's puppets.
"I don't wanna talk about tomorrow
What we have today is all I'm ready for
It's a complicated game
But it's the reason that we came together
Cause if I took the stars out of the sky
A galaxy to give you to somehow testify
Would change us, rearrange us forever?"
Her eyes were on him, He was willing to throw all his cards in for a chance to become more than a secret but she was scared. She wasnt hesitant to get on Ashe's bad side, especially since Song bird knew about Jesse's "talks" with a certain Commander. He wanted to take her away from all of this, they could start a new life away from the deadlocks, away from Ashe. Jesse had promised, swore to her that this Reyes guy could protect them both.
"So don't love me, and don't lie
Don't let me see that look in your eyes
I promised from the start
I'd keep my love apart from desire"
Jesse watched as his lady love sing with all her passion, this song was everything opposite of how they felt for eachother, they tried that, and it failed. He was so tired of sneaking around. Reyes told him to have an answer by tomorrow night, if Jesse couldnt convince her to come with him, she would be going down with the rest of the gang and the only song she'll sing would be the jail house blues. He didnt want that for her, he didnt want his song bird to be trapped in a cage for the rest of her life.
"This is not about love, this is not about love
This is all about, all about my desire!"
Song bird closed her eyes as she sang the last part, a decision in her mind already.
"This is not about love, this is not about love
This is all about, all about my desire
My desire
Oh yeah my desire
Oh my desire!"
The song ended as she did a silly curtsey as the rest of the bar shouted and cheered for her. "Thank yall so much, I'll be back in a few minutes, need some water." She said as she hopped down from the stage and walked over to Jesse's table, someone putting the jukebox on while she was away.
"May I sit with you?" She asked him. A smirk was on his face as he dipped his hat a little "I would never say no to you." His charming voice always had her heart skipping beats. She took a seat next to him. "So I thought about what you said." She said low enough for him to hear. "And? What will it be?" He asked, his hand sneaking under the table and holding hers.
"If this Commander guy really means what he says, then I'll go with you. I'm just...really scared Jesse..." she was honest. "Dont be, I'm with you Y/N" he used her real name, she smiled as her eyes watered a little bit, no one calls her by her real name anymore and hearing it from him just brought so many emotions. "So when do we go?" She asked.
"I'm supposed to meet our friend tomorrow night, come with me, travel light he said." Jesse said looking around to see if anyone was paying attention to them, he lifted her hand and kissed it quickly. "I'll see you then." He said getting up and heading out, leaving her to watch him go. She sighed "A new life..." it didnt sound real to her.
-×-
Jesse waited for her at the back of the gas station. She was a little late, which worried him. Commander Reyes was to be there any moment, and if she wasn't there by the time he was, Jesse would be forced to leave her behind. He didnt want that at all. "Psst Jesse..." someone called to him, he turned around to see Song bird behind the trash bin. He chuckled "What are you doing?" "Making sure I wasn't followed..." she pouted not liking to be laughed at. She looked so cute looking around griping onto her back pack as she stepped out of her hiding spot.
"Come here darlin..." he said, she walked to him and he cupped her face. "Reyes should be here so-" Jesse was cut off by a car honk. The two looked and saw an overwatch vehicle, Song bird was immediately nervous and his behind Jesse. "Come on you two we have to get moving before the squad moves in." A man Song bird assumed was the commander said. "The squad moves in?" She asked herself. It did bother her that Jesse sold the deadlock gang out for their freedom, they would be branded as rats for the rest of their lives but Jesse didn't care, as long as she was safe, call him mickey mouse for all he cares.
They got into the car, in the back seat, she held Jesse's hand tightly as Reyes pulled away from the gas station and the opposite direction of the deadlock hideout, Song bird looked back and saw the very silent drop ships flying toward what she used to call home.
"So your name is Y/N correct?" Reyes asked from the front seat. She looked at him. "Yes sir." "Call me Gabriel, I'm Jesse's new boss, you did a good thing, dont let anyone tell you different." He said probably reading her mind. "We are starting a new life." Jesse said, kissing her cheek. Y/N nodded and leaned her head on his shoulder. "So what am I going to do?" She asked. "Strike Commander Morrison will be taking you under his wing." Reyes said. "I wont be with Jesse?" She asked. "Work wise no, but I set you two up in the same living space so you'll be with your cowboy." Gabe looked in the rearview mirror at her, she looked so relieved. He chuckled.
Y/N looked at Jesse and pressed a kiss to his lips, Jesse leaned in for more, and soon they were kissing in the back seat making Gabe clear his throat "Please no baby making in the company car...or infront of me most importantly..." Y/N blushed and chuckled while Jesse rolled his eyes pressing one more kiss to her lips. "I hope our living quarters can handle us." Jesse said making the Commander shake his head and Y/N more red. Jesse was going to take advantage of this new freedom to make his song bird sing in a whole new way.
-End-
Yeah sorry if this is bleh, I'm not as confident in my writing as I used to be. But hope you enjoyed. As always the gif doesnt belong to me.

Talk to Me- Chapter 3
Summary: They’ve reached the restaurant and everything’s going great so far!...So why is Steelbeak so nervous about messing everything up? Maybe Domino can help him loosen up a little.
Notes: This scene was so much fun to write- I love writing date stories far too much x3
-First Chapter-
As far as Steelbeak was concerned, the ride to the restaurant had been a complete success. Flirting with Domino had been easy, natural, and fun- and that stroke of luck with the song on the radio had resulted in a surprisingly romantic moment that he honestly couldn’t have topped even if he’d planned it himself. They’d been seated quickly without having to wait, and had even gotten a great table by one of the windows with a stunning view of the moonlit bay in a corner of the restaurant with no one else around. All things considered, it was a great start to the night.
Which, unfortunately only made him more anxious about doing something to mess it all up.
He kept trying to tell himself that things were different this time- that things between him and Domino were better now- but, in the back of his mind, he kept thinking about how all of his attempts at conversation last time they went out to eat had ultimately messed everything up and left him with nothing but a bill to pay and quiet, lonely car ride home. It was a stupid thing to worry about, and he knew it, but he was so completely out of his element that it left him feeling more than a little unnerved.
It wasn’t the going out part he wasn’t used to, mind you. He’d gone out on plenty of “dates” before and those had gone well enough to earn him several “girlfriends” that were so charmed by him that they’d wait literally MONTHS just for a chance to see him again.
No, it was the idea of going out on an actual date with someone he was actually interested in seeing again that had his nerves frazzled.
Every other date he’d been on before had been the same routine: Dinner and drinks. Some sweet talk that he didn’t really mean. Drive back to his place. Have a little fun. And then he’d send them on their way with the usual “Don’t call me, I’ll call you”. Lather, rinse, repeat- the same thing every time.
With Domino, though, things were different. The other man was too sharp to fall for his usual sweet talk (though flirting was definitely still on the table). Steelbeak also wanted more than just a one night fling- he wanted to go out with him again in the very near future, or maybe even just hang out more outside of work. He wanted-
“-something wrong?” The loon’s voice cut through his thoughts instantly.
“Huh?” Steelbeak blinked and looked up from his half-touched plate of seafood paella, unaware that he’d spaced out. “Sorry, ya say somethin’?”
“……” There was that stare he’d become all too familiar with over the past few months- the look that told him the shorter bird was mentally picking him apart and analyzing him with unsettling accuracy. “Something’s on your mind and it’s stressing you out.” And he’d hit the nail right on the head, as always. “What is it?”
Darn, he really couldn’t hide anything from this guy, could he?
With a frustrated sigh, Steelbeak frowned and ran a hand over his comb. “Is it really that obvious?” A nod from his partner accompanied by his deadpan stare told him that, yes, it WAS that obvious. “You’re gonna think it’s stupid..”
“Probably.” Wow, he didn’t miss a beat with that, did he? “But I still want to hear it.”
Well, he thought, might as well spit it out. Otherwise the darker bird would just keep giving him that look until he did. “Can ya ‘least promise NOT t’ laugh?”
The edges of the other’s beak curled slightly in a smirk as he shrugged. “Maybe.” That was probably the best he was going to get.
Figuring that he wouldn’t be able to get it all out if he was looking into those seemingly all-seeing red eyes, Steelbeak chose instead to keep his gaze on the bay. “…..I..ain’t exactly used t’ datin’ like this.” His eyes followed the rolling motion of a wave as it crashed on the beach before receding. “Don’t get me wrong, I like goin’ out with a cute dame much as the next guy, but I don’t even bother rememberin’ their names half the time. We go out, I tell ‘em what they wanna hear, and it works good enough t’ get ‘em home with me.” He blindly waved his hand in Domino’s general direction. “But, with YOU, I don’t even know how t’ start a freakin’ conversation. If I try talkin’ to ya like the rest, it’d probably be charmin’, but it’s not gonna be real- my brain ain’t exactly wired for honesty, y’know? So I’m tryin’ real hard t’ think of somethin’ t’ talk about ‘sides small talk ‘cause I wanna say somethin’, but I don’t wanna look like an idiot for tryin’ too hard.” He gave a short, self-deprecating laugh and shook his head. “Aaaaaannd I just heard myself out loud: I’m tryin’ too hard t’ NOT try too hard..guess that don’t make a whole lotta sense, huh?”
When he finally turned his attention back to his date, he saw that the other bird had reached across the table with an extremely small, unmarked vial of something and currently had his hand angled over the rooster’s glass of water- clearly preparing to drip whatever was inside of the glass vial into his drink. “……” Realizing he’d been spotted, Domino slowly leaned back into his seat properly and set his hands back down in his lap, maintaining eye contact the whole time as if that would hide what he’d been about to do.
“…Dom..what’s that?” Steelbeak asked his partner incredulously.
“…Nothing…” He was clearly lying through his teeth and trying to maintain his poker face, despite being caught red-handed.
“We both know I ain’t buyin’ that.” Steelbeak looked down at the table obscuring the loon’s hands from his view. “I know you ain’t tryin’ t’ slip me a mickey, so spill it.”
“Fine..” The poker face finally fell away and Domino’s hand came back up to rest on the table with the vial still between his fingers, surprising the rooster with the dejected, guilty frown on his face. “It’s a truth serum.”
Steelbeak’s eyes widened in surprise at the admission. “Why the heck do ya have truth serum on ya??”
The darker bird shrugged a little. “I like to be prepared for anything- it comes in handy for emergency interrogations.” He set the vial on the table between them so that Steelbeak could see it better. “I thought that, if you’re uncomfortable because it’s hard for you to speak honestly with me, then a drop or two might help.”
The tiny glass container sat on the table, looking so small and insignificant, but Steelbeak knew better than to assume things when it came to drugs and chemicals in their line of work. “..That stuff really works..?”
“I’ve found it to be effective more than 98% of the time.” Domino replied. “It’s fast acting, too- most people notice the effects almost instantly.”
“……Eh, what the heck?” Steelbeak grabbed the vial and, instead of putting a few drops into his glass as Domino had been about to, he popped the drip-cap off and brought it directly to his beak to chug half of the colorless liquid in one go. “!!” He immediately regretted his decision- the liquid was oily and tasted like someone had boiled down a bottle of mouthwash into a loose syrup. After grabbing his napkin and coughing into it for a solid minute, as well as chugging his entire glass of water to weaken the nearly medicinal taste still coating his tongue, he set the half-empty vial back down in the middle of the table. “Ugh, this stuff better be worth it..”
Domino picked the vial up and put it away after screwing the cap back on. “You know, two drops would have been more than enough. Don’t blame me if you start spilling F.O.W.L.’s most highly guarded secrets.”
“Figured I’d need all the help I could get.” With the horribly minty taste finally cleared from his pallet, Steelbeak took a moment to think about how he felt. “Y’know..I do feel calmer. Wow, you weren’t kiddin’ ‘bout that stuff- it works REAL fast.”
The darker bird smiled a bit, but there was something sly about that look in his eyes that Steelbeak couldn’t quite place. “Let’s test it out: What would you like to talk about?”
“I wanna know more about YOU.” The words fell from Steelbeak’s mouth with surprising ease. “We don’t talk ‘bout much on the clock, so, I wanna know, what sorta stuff do ya do for fun?”
“Hm, that’s pretty tame, but a good place to start, I suppose.” Domino picked up his fork, idly spinning it between his thumb and index finger as he thought the question over. “Well..I read, mostly. I also enjoy going to the shooting range- it’s a fun way to exercise and keep my skills sharp. During the winter I like to go for walks in the snow or even ice skating, if it’s cold enough. Oh, and sometimes I just like to go driving along the coast at night since it’s so quiet.”
“Sounds like a good time.” Steelbeak smiled a little, a general feeling of satisfaction coming over him. He couldn’t believe how easy that had been! He felt more relaxed now, like he had when they talked in the break room the other day, or after their mission to raid and blow up a S.H.U.S.H. base. “Never woulda pegged ya for a skater, though. Found any good places ‘round here for that?”
“The lake in the park was nice, I went there last time it snowed.” The loon had a soft smile on his face as he glanced out the window, clearly remembering the day fondly. “It was in the middle of the night, so there was no one else crowding the ice or crashing into me.”
Ah, there it was- that rare but genuine and gentle smile that made Steelbeak’s heart melt a little. “Maybe I’ll tag along next time. Haven’t gone skatin’ in ages.”
Red eyes looked back up at him, that smile growing a little more. “I’d like that.”
For a moment, they stayed like that, just smiling contently at one another.
Then, Steelbeak noticed, Domino’s shoulders began to shake the way they did when he was trying not to laugh out loud about something. “What’s so funny?”
“Well, it’s just..” Domino’s smile was turning into a grin as he continued resisting the ever-growing urge to laugh. “You know that truth serum you drank?”
“Yeah, what’s in that junk, anyway?” Steelbeak asked, his curiosity piqued now. “I mean, I’m glad it worked, but it tasted like melted toothpaste.”
Domino’s body was practically trembling, as was his voice, but he managed to get out a simple reply. “It’s peppermint oil.”
“…What?” Steelbeak blinked, unsure if he’d heard the other bird properly.
“You just drank a bottle of peppermint oil.” And the last of the loon’s resolve crumbled, allowing him to openly laugh at the baffled rooster.
“What?!” Steelbeak sputtered for a moment. He’d seriously just chugged freaking PEPPERMINT OIL?! After a few seconds of his partner laughing at him, the rooster finally groaned and let his head fall forward to hit a clear spot on the table. “Can’t believe I fell for that…why the heck would ya even HAVE that..?” Somehow it seemed more believable that the other bird would carry truth serum on him then peppermint oil.
Wiping a few laughter-induced tears from the corners of his eyes, Domino’s smile didn’t go down one bit. “Like I said, I like to be prepared for anything. Peppermint is very versatile- it can relieve nausea, help with indigestion, or just be used to freshen breath after a less than fragrant meal. I’ve also used it as a fire accelerant before.” He took notice of the way the lighter bird's shoulders were starting to tremble and his grin lessened slightly. “Hey, are you ok-?”
Before he could finish his question, Steelbeak sat up with a huge grin of his own spread across his face and started belting out his distinctively nasal laugh. “Friggin’ peppermint oil! Oh, that was good!” He had to wipe away tears of his own so he could look his partner in the eyes again. “This is why I like ya, Deedee: You keep me guessin’. I never know what t’ expect with ya. You’re exciting.”
Domino’s own smile returned. “You’re certainly not having any trouble being honest now, are you?”
Steelbeak shrugged, the huge grin still practically splitting his face. “Yeah, but it’s gonna be easier on my ego if I just keep pretendin’ it’s ‘cause of a truth serum. So, let’s keep talkin’ before I lose my nerve again- sound good?” He raised his almost empty glass towards his partner expectantly.
Domino picked up his own half-full glass and tapped it to the other’s. “That sounds good to me. Let’s talk.”
<-Previous Chapter Next Chapter->
End Notes: Just to clear up any possible confusion: Domino WAS trying to get caught spiking Steelbeak’s drink so he could bluff and get him to try it willingly- the guy knew what he was doing x3 Also, by “peppermint oil”, I’m referring to edible peppermint extract that’s used in cooking- he didn’t make Steelbeak drink an essential oil because that is dangerous xP
