#okay that sounds bad but.#you know that thing where you're reading something basically fine and normal and then something happens#and a character turns directly to the camera and‚ animated with the fell light of the Authorial Voice‚ begins a helpful didactic lesson#on the Universal Good Person's Understanding of the Nature of Bisexuality courtesy every tumblr post from 2016#and then a banner falls from the sky reading IT WAS AN IMPORTANT LESSON AND EVERYONE AGREED THAT THEY UNDERSTOOD NOW#and then. i guess we're just supposed to resume the narrative and its totally divergent setting and tone#as though one character didn't just start quoting excerpts from a scarleteen article out of nowhere#but. in fact i wouldn't know.#anyway. uh. i consider this a significant risk of reading Modern Romance and will in fact take some light bigotry if that's the only alterna#tive. due to my politically suspect yet unshakeable tastes#like i *like* scarleteen. i have in my life donated to scarleteen. they have no business going around possessing characters of things#box opener#now do i mostly encounter this in specific slices of bad fanfiction. yes. but not *only*#unfortunately this post is a sincere request for book recommendations#though if you've read the tags this far#you know i don't deserve them.
