Made a lil' something for my VtM crew (going on 4+ years now) after finding a holiday card that felt perfect for our group. And I couldn't just gift them it, I had to replicate it with our boys. It may be a little late for Christmas, but the holidays include New Years as well, and given their white tie attire, it seems fitting!

Rosario 👀👀 here's what I thought of it (=>FULL spoilers ⚠️)

For starters, it's shot beautifully, looks great as I expected from watching Felipe's short films. It is very dark for most of it though (which will make giffing all the more fun for me 😩) and there are a few jumpscares, but nothing too absurd. It didn't make me think of Drag Me to Hell like I thought and like I heard many many people comparing it to, it has a curse and trying to break it, an old lady and some gross stuff, but that's about it. And since it doesn't have any cat sacrificing, I count it as the superior movie. Eat my entire ass, Sam Raimi.

I didn't love Rosario as a character, she's kind of an asshole and pretty rude, but I don't really have anything bad to say about Emeraude Toubia's acting. People talk so much shit about her in Letterboxd but she's okay to me, I've seen so much bad acting over the years, and to me she just felt a little inexperienced, which she is.

Back to Rosa, there's a bit where she finds out her fortune and success in life are not because of hard work, but because of a deal her grandmother made, and I thought there would be at least a little bit of angst about that, but nope, she didn't even comment on it. So maybe the writing wasn't stellar, maybe she's just that bad of a character and just didn't care, I don't know. And now... Joe!

Joe has less than 5 minutes of screen time. Yup. Name in the cover was just clickbait. One set of gifs will be enough to cover all his scenes. JFC so little of Joe. Literally all the press advertisement they did was waayyyy more of him than in the movie.

And yeah, of course he dies, duh. At least now I have enough deaths to make a new dastdeaths post. (Make sure to block that tag if you don't want to know what the others are)

And I hate that I'm so lost in the sauce that I can't tell what is a sexy character and what isn't because I thought he was going to be greasy and weird and creepy but he was

like, seriously, just pretty and adorable. Okay, that's it, I'm done. It was a nice start for Felipe Vargas and I understand he wanted to make it so the Latino actors had more preeminence, but still shame on him for severely underusing David.

I'll give it like a 5/10.

Forgot to say - the part where she's first researching stuff on the internet was pretty cool, with voodoo and witchcraft. Pretty much what you'd get, so it was a nice touch.

Also yeah, granny was not evil, Joe literally just wanted his fucking air fryer back.

hi! he can, yes. he's not a huge singer, like it's not a super big talent of it, but he can. he's been in a musical or two. he also sings in chelsea walls. someone on here has a cd of the movie's soundtrack, which i think they've posted, i'll see if i can find them

The De La Estrella and Leggero family get together as usual to watch their favorite team's soccer game. Omar and Guido always like to grill or shop together as best friends. While their wives dedicate themselves to helping with the housework and taking care of the children, especially Alicia, who tends to get into a lot of mischief with no bad intentions with little Chris.

"And when are you going to drink with me compadre? "Guido says to Omar opening his can of beer.

"I hate alcohol, don't insist."

"But there must be at least something you like."

"None..."

"Have you tried this one?"

"Cola de Mono? Hey, it's not Christmas yet."

"Heh, gotcha." exclaims Guido.

"Ah, yeah, right. "Omar rolls his eyes.

"Then let's drink Cola de Mono!"

"I don't like this at all."

The two men return home with all the ingredients and utensils to prepare the family lunch.

As the adults chat, Lia calls her husband as she suspects something is on her mind.

"Gordo, what are you planning to do?"

"Nothing precious, just, having fun as a family."

"Family? Hehe, that you already think our son is married to the Ali?" a subtle smile sketches the lady.

"No need to think that, family is togetherness. And, you still follow that fanaticism to see Chris with little Ali?"

"It's just...alas, it's inevitable...I want to see them both in love and married...oh, my goodness."

"They're babies, what's wrong with you?"

"Dreaming doesn't cost anything."

"Well I'll go to... CHILDREN!!! WHAT DO THEY DO?!"

Guido sees a 4 year old Ali with a knife and a barely two year old Chris with a giant sitting fork, both clashing utensils like dangerous swords. They looked happy and fun playing that dangerous game.

Chris's parents grab both children, relieved that a fatal accident did not occur.

"Oh, my Chris, I'm so glad you're okay my baby... "exclaims Lia as she hugs her little boy.

"Ali, what are you doing with that one with that knife? It's dangerous!"

"It's not a toy?" Alicia asks with a curious face.

"No!"

"I saw it in toy bag." The girl responds as she points her arm towards the bag on the sofa.

"Ummm...makes sense, it was the only bag I caught...ok, ok, no more shenanigans, I'll put you both to bed!"

"I don't want to sleep! I want to play with Chris!"

The baby, hearing the desperate child, begins to cry. Both children cry at the top of their voices.

Rosario approaches the Leggero couple with the children crying at the top of their voices.

"Don Guido, is something wrong with the children?"

"A fatal accident almost happened Rosy, we have to hide the utensils immediately!"

"Oh my god! Omar, I need your help!"

While Rosario,Omar and Guido hide the items, Lia takes the children to Alicia's bedroom and lays them down. They both stop crying, and Chris hugs Ali, thus relaxing at ease.

"Oh Chris, why aren't you like that with me, with your mother..." sighs the boy's mother.

Ali, touching her small hand to Lia's arm, looks at her with pleading eyes.

"Aunt Lia, no...I...want...to...sleep...nooo..."

"And how about I tell you another story? This time a Peasant who found a golden Turnip?"

"Story!!! Chris, Chris! Story! Story!"

The child about to fall asleep opens his eyes and looks at an excited Alicia and then looks at his mother. The child is also excited.

"All right, once upon a time..."

The voice with a foreign accent and good pronunciation narrates the story and the children pay attention. During the time, the children droop their eyelids until they lay their heads on the pillow, very relaxed and happy.

Lia lets out a sigh of calm as she finally finishes narrating.

"Aunt Lia, no...I...want...to...sleep...nooo..."

"How about I tell you another story? This time a Peasant who found a golden Turnip?"

"Story!!! Chris, Chris! Story! Story!"

The child about to fall asleep opens his eyes and looks at an excited Alicia and then looks at his mother. The child is also excited.

"All right, once upon a time..."

"Sweetie, are you upstairs?"

"Shhh, the kids are asleep."

"Sorry. Come on, Omar and Rosy are waiting for us."

"Let's go."

As Lia moves toward the door, she gives her husband a kiss on the cheek and he follows behind with a satisfied face.

The adults eat and drink while watching the soccer game on the new television the De La Estrella couple invested in. Guido drinks a large amount of beer while Omar drinks water.

The wives just watch as their husbands enjoy the TV.

"O-Omar, here, for the toast."

"My glass of water is enough and besides, you stink! Get away from me!"

"Awww, hahaha, bear hug we're wiiiiinniiing!!!"

"Get off! Don't kiss me!"

The girls just laughed at the spectacle until they heard a baby cry.

"Oh, Chris woke up."

"I'll go with you to see Ali."

They go up to the second floor while the men continued the awkward show.

"Omar...accept this little cup as...hic, holy cup as a symbol of our friendship?"

"Idiot! Pass that and stop bothering!"

Omar drinks the cup of liquid but did not expect the liquid to contain a potent level of alcohol.

The man began to drink more, up to five drinks within half an hour. Omar's personality changed.

"Guido..."

"What?"

"Shut up there's a GOOOOLLLLL!!!! to go!" Shouts the exalted and drunk Omar."

"GOOLLLL!!!"

The merry drunken men dance non-stop and with hugs included. Omar drinks the beer bottles like water in one sip, as does Guido. Ali goes out to the backyard and sees the drunken dads and joins them in dancing. The meeting ended up being a spectacle of a couple of drunks and a girl cheering and dancing.

The spouses could only feel embarrassed and baby Chris also joins the group, walking half-heartedly, but happily.

Tempo kept laughing with a soft laugh as she watched the memory fall from one of her tears, only to end up in powder and fly into the air.

todays art is of mizore shirayuki from the anime rosario+vampire!

i have very mixed feelings about this show and cannot in good faith recommend it given that it has approximately 20 panty shots an episode, but ignoring that nonsense its a very funny show with a unique premise and characters that i like a lot! mizore is one of my favs from the show and she has definitely subconsciously influenced my fashion sense since i originally watched it lol
