i keep coming back to the ask you answered about the instinct universe and everyone's scents and now i'm wondering: is there any other worldbuilding you alluded to in the fic but didn't get a chance to elaborate on and if so, what is it? (this is the second time i've sent this, i'm not sure if tumblr ate my ask the first time lol)
i think tumblr might have eaten your first ask 😢
but YES! LORE QUESTIONS! ugh, I’m so excited!
it is very, very briefly touched upon in the fic, but not really flat-out stated: people are kept on heat/rut suppressors until they’re 18. it’s for general safety, but as people get older, they become less and less effective as body chemistry changes. even if you can get access to them post-18, they usually won’t work as well. still, suppressor abuse is a concerning issue in some countries, and in some industries.
there’s an ongoing debate going on about whether athletes should be required to use scent-blockers when competing. the current standard practice is that super strong, clinical blockers are used at major, standardised competitions - but there’s a whole thing about whether athletes should have a right to refuse taking them.
william shakespeare was an omega. jane austen was an omega. christina rossetti was an alpha. david bowie was an alpha, but the stage characters he created were almost all omegas, and he caused controversy for performing in a collar way back in the 1960s/1970s.
there isn’t really any restrictions in terms of “only alphas succeed in the entertainment industry” bc all genders of all designations draw in a different audience, and all can be profitable. but they are very much often typecast. your alpha men are brawny, dudebro types. your action leads. omega men are lean, willowy sex demons. alpha women are bad-ass bitches, aggressive, promiscuous. omega women are sweet, cutesy types. your romcom leads.
chan’s parents are both alphas, and that’s why he doesn’t really have that knowledge of the omega coffee hack/omega ‘tricks’ that the others comment on in the fic. his whole childhood, people assumed he would be an alpha bc of his build and personality - and then he presented at age 13, to everyone’s surprise.
jisung had a bit of a crush on reader in their first year at uni, mostly bc she was the first to not immediately start drooling over hyunjin. there’s a reason he wanted them to meet so soon.

That’s a toughie because it changes depending on my mood. I can give you a list of Bowie songs that I could listen to on repeat forever though :D

I actually put in one of his CDs the other day after a long time of not really listening to his stuff bc it made me too sad, and I had a really good time singing along to all of it. I teared up during some of my favorites, but it felt kinda good, yknow? I missed him.
I have his full discog (some in multiple versions or for different players), and there isn’t really a CD that I don’t like. Even the Tin Machine stuff. He has a really cool sound that just fits my view and flow so well. He’s just such a cool dude.
