@pepperacity i have normal feelings on princess tutu and how her design would influence amys. come closer.

okay okay so. i really like princess rose so far. big the cat based. im that commenter. ANYWAY. this isnt about the story this is about the design.

tutus influences are mainly Odette from Swan Lake and the Sylph from La Sylphide. because of this, she is a swan fairy of a sort.

i didnt mind losing a little of the Sylph detailing in the bracelet shape and wings, seeing as its still there by the arm accessories (which marie taglioni, the most well-known sylph, was known to wear in her costume), thereby keeping the spirit of the Sylph without going literal fairy. i replaced these elements (and the crown) with bows to push the classical magical girl feel.

however, i did want to bring back Odette, since shes lost the most iconic element of that: the hair. i brought that back but changed it to be the back of amys quills rather than the lower half, to help explain how those get brought down from their usual position.

yyou may also notice that her fur is darker, her bangs are missing, and her eyes are blue!

as for her fur, i couldnt. leave her with something pale. theres enough pale colors. i need contrast for my Sanity here. duck has her hair as a point of contrast, and since the design is already pink, amys fur gets it.

her bangs is bc i just. okay i dont Like bangs on hedgehogs and i dont have room in my faces for bangs. theyre bows now.

her eyes is bc tutus design philosophy uses standout features in a very specific way, and tutus eyes arent whats standout about her; the pendant is. since theres not a good place for green in her design as it stands, her eyes are blue now. i suppose, all the blue Could be green, but the color palette of tutus outfit has a very specific effect. i didnt want to futz with that when i could avoid it.

also i redesigned the hedgehog form bc i wanted to try making her closer to a real hedgehog for funsies. and she carries her pendant in her mouth bc the chain is too Long in this form :]
