god i'm actually so worried that my f2p career in enstars is gonna end with love letter yuta
#⇢₊˚⊹ 🩷∥ruby∥yo,ide yo !!#i should feel lucky i didn't become a knightsP or smth. that would've been 10x more pain and suffering#since i literally don't have the cash to spare for this game#i'm sitting at 21k dia in my starter yuta account. i'm gonna try my luck with the upcoming october scout#hopefully i get him before i run out#if i do run out... i'll be really tempted to just ditch that account and completely focus on my starter hinata account instead#thing is,i don't have their halloween work outfits yet in the hinata account. but i do in the yuta account#i haven't gotten a single halloween outfit drop yet in the hinata account so i can't even do the event work#maybe i'm crazy for also caring about the work outfits#the outfits aren't even all that special. i just want them because they exist and they're for 2wink 😭#i take this whole 2winkP thing way too seriously 🥲#also i got the wwys profile frame thing and it makes my yuta account look so cool#and it's not like the yuta account is THAT lacking in 5 stars. i have a green nagisa and a red hajime on top of the free blue subaru#and starter yuta is a yellow 4 star and i've pretty much maxed him out at this point#i even spent the free 4 star card on a second copy of him to give him more stats. i already have so many other 4 stars so i figured why not#i almost have enough cards for a mono color team of every color on that account#on the hinata account i used my dia on the start dash 5 star tickets and so far got tsukasa shu eichi and mama#and i also got a second copy of starter hinata through sheer luck#and i have yet to unlock the last tier of the shop so i assume there's still one more free 5 star ticket#i'm gonna unlock it when the october yuta scout drops because i also bought the limited dia scout tickets from the start dash shop#and they expire around a day after yuta's scout is predicted to drop. and one of the start dash missions i have now is to scout 30 times#so two birds with one stone and all that#hopefully the dia tickets actually count for the mission because i read somewhere that they might not#but maybe that was just misinformation idk#anyway. i'm conflicted#i should really look up a guide for the love letter event so i know how it actually works. and if i'll need to spend dia at all on it#if i don't then huzzah. i can dump all my dia into the october scout and not worry about a thing#but if i do then yeah..........#okay so i checked the wiki. and it's a unit event so i definitely will need to spend dia#there's also a bunch of calcumulations i need to do before the event to get an accurate prediction of how much dia i'll need apparently

FE8 Prototype Commentary (Chapters 6-8)
A continuation of my previous post on the FE8 prototype.
Chapter 6
Chapter 6 is virtually unrecognizable from its final counterpart. It uses the map that later became Chapter 11A’s, and even then, unit starting position is also different from the final version of 11A. Saleh appears in the beginning of this chapter as well, having the same dialogue that was moved to Chapter 5 in the final game. He runs out the stairway below to continue his search, I suppose, and then Novala and his cronies appear in front of the door. Eirika actually unlocks the door upon seeing the hostages, and after bargaining with her, Novala goes up to her to retrieve the bracelet.

He also has the Villagers killed, leading to the same conversation Eirika has with him in the final version. Eirika’s really pissed. I should give her the almost-kill.
The challenging part about that, though, is that this chapter is actually a Defend map and only lasts for six turns. At least there’s no Fog of War!

We start up there. Novala’s all the way down there. At the very best, we’ll only scrape by with getting Colm to the two chests. Not helping is the fact that there is a Thief that starts at the bottom right of the map, and one of the reinforcements that appear also has another Thief that will beeline for the chest above Novala.
Speaking of reinforcements, Novala will give a warning right before the reinforcements come. They come in groups of three, but my team is actually somewhat weak and may be struggling to get by. I’ve kicked Ross off the team because he doesn’t have the Journeyman’s level 10 split and so his stats are really sucky for a level 10 Fighter.
The chest on the right gives an Iron Sword. The chest on the left gives yet another Iron Sword... and nabbing it terraforms the chapter, apparently.

Well, whatever it takes to keep Colm alive, I guess.
If you defeat Novala (which I managed to do with Vanessa), he gets some dialogue that seems to imply he’s trying to run away. Then the following cutscene plays.

I don’t know why Saleh and Eirika are standing next to each other in the beginning, they’re clearly on opposite sides of each other. After Saleh leaves, Eirika and Seth have the same conversation about the bracelet as they do in the final version. Some time after they leave...

Cavalier Kyle (left), Ephraim, and Ranger Forde (right) appear. Oddly enough, Ephraim doesn’t actually say anything in this cutscene, but I’m going to assume that they’re trying to chase after Eirika. It makes more sense that they would know about Eirika’s circumstances in this case, at least.
There’s also a distinct lack of Orson, either having already betrayed them or not existing at all. If I could read Japanese or get the ripped script, I could probably figure out the dialogue, but alas.
Chapter 7

The map is almost identical to its final incarnation, save for the changed tileset, the lack of ballistae, and Fog of War that was removed from the final version.  (As you can also see, the enemies won’t appear until after you begin the chapter.)

They enter in, uh, spectacular fashion. The Fog of War in this map will also alternate on-and-off every couple turns.

For some reason, TCRF stated that there aren’t any ballistae present on this prototype map. The one directly above your starting location indeed is not present, but there is a ballista at the top of the map. Though I’m out of his range for a good long while, since he’s all the way up there (in the final version, he’s in that clearing between the forest tiles, right above that objective window).
The enemy Mage that’s in the middle of the map is replaced by an archer here. I kinda neglected to pay attention to that and nearly got Vanessa killed, since she got hit by the brigand. Luckily, she dodged the arrow. Thanks, RNG! (Colm got hit by a 12% brigand hit in return, though.)
The boss is also a Mercenary with a Steel Sword, so he can be cheesed with mages. However, since I have no Shop or Armory available, and I’ve only been getting swords from the chests, I’m a bit worried about my tome and stave stock...

After seizing, there’s no animation of Eirika and Seth entering Renvall, but this still happens. So Orson is alive!
Chapter 8
Most of the intro plays out the same. Tirado is replaced by another General named Jude Rupert, who introduces himself as the Obsidian of Grado’s seven Imperial Generals. That title eventually goes to Duessel, while Jude gets a demotion and a name change.
There is a startlingly small 6-person deployment for this chapter, which was increased to 9 in the final version. Looks like some people will be hitting the bench. Franz has gotten really bad level ups, so he’s out. Cormag is staying because all these chests only have placeholder Iron Swords and, if there’s anything beyond this chapter, I need to keep units who can actually make use of these swords. At least one of the enemies drops their Iron Lance. There’s also four chumps who have Steel Lances but only E-rank in Lances, so they can’t even use their own weapons. Top-tier strats, General Jude.

Now I have to cut Shadows of Valentia some slack. Looks like they weren’t the first ones to come up with “people can hear each other across a building perfectly fine.” Eirika and Ephraim have a perfectly normal conversation across the castle here.

Forde’s bases suck so bad, his level 1 boss has better bases. He puts final Rennac’s bases to shame. Selecting Ephraim for the first time will trigger a conversation between him, Forde, and Kyle. Selecting Kyle for the first time will trigger a tutorial on how to promote, although the promotion isn’t forced like in Lyn mode of FE7.

The biggest difference on this map from the original version is that the chest in this room doesn’t exist, and instead there are two pillars. Furthermore, the breakable wall to the left of the map has 100 HP like in FE6 instead of the 50 HP of the final game. There was also no thief reinforcement (or reinforcements in general).

After defeating Jude, Myrrh shows up in the ending cutscene, portrait complete and all. After Ephraim says that they should get the hell outta dodge, a notification window pops up, presumably saying that it’s the end of the first part. Anna reappears, asking if you want to move on to the next chapter, and then you’re thrown straight into the prep screen of Eirika route chapter 9.

When Heinrich found the letter of his grand-mother, he was shattered. The news of Pandorya stopped some weeks ago and it has been making him feel sick ever since. Pandorya was always adventurous and wanted to explore the ancient place, where a mysterious cult built many stone-statues, looking like heads. The gouvernment supported her efforts to establish a camp for explorers. The news of the explorers were confident at first, but as the weeks passed, fear lingered between the lines. And now Heinrich and the other seven settlers were standing in an abandoned camp. Nobody was there, not even a ghost. They brought some resources with them, but their ship was crashed after the first night. The grim winds of the winter were brushing through the pines already... A cruel reminder of the fate of the last settlers... (Gameplay-notes under the cut)
Uuuh, this introduction is pretty dark, isn’t it? Sorry. :p So, as mentioned above: Gameplay-notes. I’m going to follow the rules of nepheris (or at least I’m trying...) I created my founder and settlers with the help of the Sim Randomizer. Nepheris rules include a randomizer for the amount of sims. Since I got just eight sims, I decided to move them into a camp, where they have to spend some time together. This was the moment, when I created the back-story of Pandorya and her company. And I thought: “Hey, wouldn’t it be cool, if the camp was haunted by Pandorya’s ghost? And why would they all stay together in one camp? Unless there is a long dark winter full of despair at the horizon??”
Yeah, I’m such a person...
The seasons of the yet unnamed “neighborhood” are: Winter, winter, spring and autumn. There is no summer, because it’s a cold climate. And that’s why there hasn’t been any sims there. Makes sense, right? This makes it difficult to grow crops. So, I allowed myself to add Sun&Moon’s Giving Tree Set and Garden Crops Set to my downloads. Don’t want my sims to starve.
Basic restrictions
No running water, no electronics. To unlock them the founder has to be a Lobbist. And there has to be a power plant as well as a water source (e.g. a well or a sewage work or something like this. I’m going to figure that out later.) At first I wanted to restrict phones, radios and computers as well, but this is pretty harsh. My BACC assumes there is a working society somewhere far away, so if the settlers have a radio mast, they can watch TV and listen to the radio. (No cable tv for my sims though >_< ) These devices will be unlocked with the power plant. Computers and the might of the internet are restircted however. There has to be an internet-café first. Cars are unlocked, once a car dealership is built. There won’t be any newspapers. I can’t imagine a single company, who would make the effort to deliver a newspaper to the middle of nowhere. Newspaper and Magazines are unlocked, when there is a post office and a journalist in town. All services have to be covered by playables. Christanlov’s All-in-one-NPC is going to be handy (for maids and gardeners etc.) Adoption is unlocked, when an orphanage is built. There won’t be one unless a couple wants to adopt or a child has to live in an orphanage. No foundations or upper floors are allowed. Who could build houses so stable, they won’t get demolished in the rough climate? Excactly, an architect. :) But to become one the founder has to be lobbist. (He is the one, who convinces the goverment to invest more resources and such.) No townies are added. The founder has to be campaign manager first. No buy/buildmode-usage. Let me explain: When I build a house, it will have the necessary items. And when a family desperatly needs furniture (e.g. for babies, new roommates or because of a fire) I will use these modes. But for “luxury”-items like additional paintings or stereos or bars, only on day one of a rotation the modes are avaiable. (The time, I imagine, when new supplies come.) Unless there are 3 diffrent owned businesses in town. (Or maybe just one shop for furniture? I don’t know. Maybe... We will see.) No pleading with grim reaper is going to happen. I always thought, this opption should be restricted to sims with a special ability. I also read a couple of rule-sets for an apocalypse-challenge. I liked the idea, that pleading with the grim reaper is only allowed, when a sim reached the top of the paranormal career. So, I copied it. Hopefully I won’t regret that... No community lots (also No home-businesses, that sell anything other than produce or craftable items etc.) To unlock them, the founder has to become Campaign Manager. It has to be eighter bought by a playable sim or built with city funds. (I figured it out like this: The founder buys the community lot. With Cjon’s mod he is able to donate the lot back to the community. Like this the money is going to the right place and I don’t have to keep track of prices and stuff.) No downtown/hobby lots are available. Once the founder becomes mayor a proper connection to the city is built. It costs 500.000$. No university can be accessed. The teacher of the town has to reach the top of the education career. It costs the town 500.000$ to access further education. Students will pay a loan to city funds each semester costing 2.500$. (10.000$ in total) Students also have to have an internship in their future profession. (Meaning: The student has to go to a community lot in their last semester before graduation. And stay there at least 10 hours. He/she doesn’t have to work there, just befriending staff, getting to know the place etc.) No shopping districts can be added. The population has to reach 25.000 sims to start construction. It costs the town 1.000.000$.
Career restrictions can be read in nepheris rule-set. I added a few custom careers, which I liked, but I will wait until there is a sim for the job before I explain the restriction. This post got to long already XD
Taxes
Households are divided into tiers based on their total funds. Again I copied nepheris, but in my first attempt the money flow was so slow, I decided to double the taxes. Hey, free roads in the long winter have their price! :p I also added another tier for super rich sims. Families with funds over 300.000$ belong to the Richi-rich-society. (Am I not creative...?) Taxes are paid at the end of every season. Based on the number of sims in that household, taxes are:
High society: 2.500$/Sim
Upper Class: 2.000$/Sim
Middle Class: 1.000$/Sim
Lower Class: 500$/Sim
Poverty: 200$/Sim
Population
+1 for every community lot
+7 for downtown
+7 YA for university
+12 for shopping district
The Sim Multiplier is a concept I really like! Though it takes some effort to keep track of it...
